AU WORKSHOP - JANUARY Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. BLURB:

-Large family on both her mom’s side and father’s side, four cousins each; related to one side by her father’s brother, and the other by her mother’s sister
-Lived with mother’s side of the family in Japan, as her father died when she was young and her mother needed the family support to raise a child as a single mother
-When she was a little older and at her American uncle’s encouragement, her mom started sending her to America during summers in order for her to get to know her father’s side of the family as well and expand her horizons
-Corrin’s American uncle offered to help her get into a very prestigious and expensive private school in America, and after discussing it with her mother, she decided to go
-She did very well in school, and was involved in a lot of activities, such as the student government, Model UN, and playing the piano. In addition:
-She was the founder and president of an Environmental Protection club, where they’d make sure the trash in the school was being properly recycled, and going around the campus planting trees and flowers, as well as pollinator gardens for the bees and gardens for the butterflies.
-Corrin also started up a book club for the school, where they'd meet every week to discuss the book they were reading for that month
-She was very excited to learn!! She did very well in her classes, though average in math and science. It's a bit of a bane of her existence.
-Corrin graduated with honor on the dean’s list, and got her pick of colleges.
-She ended up choosing Recolle because she thought it was a very forward and international city, and one she’d enjoy getting to spend the next years of her life in
-She’s studying International Relations because her dream is to help make the world a better place
-She lives in the dorms
-Corin volunteers at the library

You can also peak at her personality here, tho the app is still a WIP. But in summary: she's a very kind and peppy person who's always willing to be friendly and get to know someone. Her biggest flaw is she's too trusting and too empathetic, and it's easy to take advantage of her and walk all over her. Corrin can also be a bit stubborn, and very determined and steadfast in working towards her goals.

LOOKING FOR:

-A roommate! She's in her final year, so its possible for her to have had several past roommates as well
-Friends around campus!
-Clubs at school she could be in! i figure she was at least in Model UN again, and I was gonna have her be at ReVA either already or starting soon. she'll probably be in a book club or have started a book club if there isn't already one at the uni??
-This is a stretch, but you could've gone to high school with her!
-Perhaps you went to elementary school or middle school with her in Japan! I haven't decided where in Japan she's from yet, so I'm open to suggestions

♡ A very friendly girl! Please love her, she loves friends.
♡ On the other hand she's actually kind of shy and won't often reach out to people at first. She's incredibly loyal once people befriend her and she likes taking a genuine interest in people's lives but she doesn't exactly see herself as dazzling and exciting and rarely puts herself out there.
♡ Moved to Recollé ~10 years ago when she was seven.
♡ She didn't adapt too terribly well at first upon moving and often kept to herself, though she found herself studying her peers a lot to kind of get an idea of how she was supposed to behave.
♡ Because she grew up being very quiet she was sometimes bullied as a child and that led her on her crusade to start building other people up instead.
♡ She's an okay student with decent grades. She is likely the girl who knows all of the material but never raises her hand.
♡ Volunteer work! Rise's a supporter of all things and she loves helping whether it's time at animal shelters, hospitals, volunteer centers, soup kitchens, etc. At school, even if she doesn't attend big events she tries to be part of things like dance committees, holiday things, pep rallies, etc.
♡ Probably like the secretary of the Student Council because she's good at keeping track of things and listening to other people.
♡ She secretly dreams about when she'll get to college and be able to revamp her entire look and appeal and personality because she foolishly believes a bigger peer pool will help :')
♡ Has horrible stage fright.
♡ But has studied ballet for several years. She's very serious about it because she doesn't have to say anything at all and her footwork and posture do all the talking.
♡ While she's generally very polite and shies away from strangers, with her friends she's the friend that doesn't hold back from her true opinions. When she's comfortable with people, she's more prone to smiling, chatting a lot and being very energetic and bubbly.
♡ The advice-giver and the mom-friend, Rise will often check on everybody else's needs whenever she can.
♡ Most importantly, Rise is the middle child stuck between an older brother who's currently away for college (and whom she misses terribly) and a younger brother who is also in high school (Hinata Aoi livens) She is very protective of her younger brother, lowkey idolizes her older brother, and if you aren't nice to her siblings she will actually get aggressive because her brothers!! are!! the greatest!! bye!!!!!
LOOKING FOR: Family, friends, co-workers, etc. Negative CR is also fine! Additionally I workshopped her back in October so if anyone wants to keep the plans we made here I am more than happy to oblige!

- Totally got into fights throughout her pre-college education
- Moved to Recolle for college
- Dropped out after a couple of years when she realized she didn't have to study military history like her parents
- Doesn't talk to her parents anymore because she "betrayed the family" or something
- Worked a few odd jobs (the planetarium, the museum, the animal shelter)
- Has been at this call center for a few years now
- Has an absolutely perfect customer service voice but could not be more disaffected when off the clock
- Doesn't really talk to people outside of when she absolutely has to, including to work "friends"
- Knows she has a greater purpose but hasn't found it yet and doesn't know where to start
- Burns off that existential anxiety with gym visits and smoking, not usually both at once
- Hangs out in the woods when she needs to clear her head
- tl;dr: Gay dirtbag aggressively searching for something better in life than what she threw away

LOOKING FOR: Current or ex-coworkers, ex-classmates, dirtbag college kids who might be her neighbors (I do have a roommate situation tentatively sorted out), anyone who might recognize her by her voice, anyone who might try to forcefully befriend her only to get shut down. I haven't figured out where she moved from yet, so if you have any ideas for childhood friends (or "friends") she might run into several years down the line, I'm game for that, too.

- maybe she knows how to surf, idk
- more likely, she likes the beach to collect shells and make little shell necklaces and other sorts of jewelry
- likes sewing and makes her own dresses; there are always little stars or flowers on her clothes
- a good student at school but shy and quiet and likes keeping her head down
- can be caught staring at girls a lot but look, there are girls who wear super cute clothes and this is how she gets fashion ideas. let her live
- some sort of part time work maybe, like decorating pastries at a bakery if any PC owners are hiring for that, and/or selling handmade jewelry or clothes at the farmer's market when the weather is nice out

LOOKING FOR:
- my soul for an older sibling... barring that, an older sibling figure she can latch onto bc otherwise she's going to lose her mind freaking out about everything
- aforementioned workplace with some artsy position that isn't just working a register

+ A senior at Recolle High School. When asked about her future plans-- well. She doesn't have them set out. She knows she'll go to college but as for what she'll study, she's undecided and honestly hasn't put a lot of time into thinking about it yet.
+ Not much of book-smart girl. She studies about as much as she has to and has decent grades but it's not her idea of fun. She maintains a B average to keep teachers and family off her case though.
+ Absolutely hates being bored. Which is why she'll try anything once.
+ Studied martial arts -- Karate (brown belt) and Aikido
+ Took dance classes as a young girl but quit when she was ten. Other things to do!
+ Took art classes and still enjoys sketching from time to time. She's got a cute style, but she's pretty good.
+ Likes to play video games in her free time. And in this, like almost everything else, she's super competitive. She goes all out.
+ Spends as much time with her friends as she can. But she's bad at stuff like just sitting and watching movies though-- she's that person that makes snide comments the whole time and you're either laughing at or trying to kill to get her to shut up.

LOOKING FOR:

- Classmates and friends!! If you're easy to pick on and have fun reactions, it's likely she did so, but it's fairly easy to tell it's not coming from a mean-spirited place but a friendly/playful one. (But if you're sensitive maybe you didn't notice and that's A+ too.) Likewise if you were more of a troublemaker she miiiight have bullied you a little. Especially if you were the type to make comments about how short she is/how young she looks. She's kind of fierce. And she absolutely wouldn't go easy on those who'd be mean to others. (She miiiiiight have punched you a time or something but. It's fine. Probably.) As for friends a lot of the people she teases are actually the people she really likes. And in the AU she's better at showing it. She could especially use friends that will shitpost/text about stupid shit with her and go do fun stuff like going out to eat, karaoke, whatever! Boredom is her worst enemy. If they had classes together they might recognize her as that girl that may or may not have slept through a history/math class or two... or as the girl who was decent at art!

Likewise any teachers might. Know her for some of those things too and I'd be right there for that CR as well.

Or you know. Dating is a thing. Past/present girlfriends and boyfriends are welcome. Dating isn't something she looks for in life but if it happened she'd take it fairly seriously.

- Family!! I don't have much set up in advance for family but I would love more if anyone wants to have her! Siblings, cousins, parents-- whatever! Right now she only has her half-sister Korra and her Uncle Kazuma Kiryu.

- Others!!! Anyone she might have met through martial arts/dance/what have you that she would have kept in touch with! She's all about friends.

AU OCCUPATION: Biology Research Associate
BLURB: Karen is a socially "unkempt" young woman from rural Oklahoma who's struggled her entire life to overcome where she came from and get into the career of her dreams. She pursued a career in science and ultimately fell into biology, with a focus on bioengineering. Kara's basically managed to get as far as she has through pure ambition and the desire to prove herself and her capabilities. Unfortunately that makes her come across as combative at times, and she's not the easiest person to get along with until you get to know her. She tries looking out for a former foster kid her parents took in (Kara Lee maidofmistakes) out of a sense of not-quite-sisterly affection where she can, as well.

Kara's somewhat self-destructive, leads an unhealthy lifestyle, and is something of a mess outside of her professional life. She likes to seem put together, and can fake it, but she's prone to being kind of lax and disorganized when not at work. She is a good friend, and she'll definitely make sure that her friends have a good time when they're around! Drinks for everyone, and food too. The kind of gal that'll bring you Starbucks when you didn't ask for it, but may also give you a really blunt answer when you didn't either.

Moved to Recolle for Undergrad and stayed ever since, she doesn't do a lot of teaching (basically limits herself to high, high level graduate courses) but she does offer tutoring, and biology students may know her as the grumpy young researcher. She tries looking out for a former foster kid her parents took in (Kara Lee) out of a sense of not-quite-sisterly affection where she can, as well.

LOOKING FOR: Friends, of course, and ENEMIES, please. Tutored students that need help with science, lab techs, students she has taken a personal interest in. People who she knew growing up, drinking buddies, barkeeps. Whatever, I'm pretty open!

I would love for her to have blood kin of some sort. Cousins for sure, because she has one really famous one in canon. An ex or two, maybe even an ex-fiance or something if anyone has an interest in a seriously failed relationship, IDK that could be fun.

- formed a small dance crew with his best friend; been dancing competitively for 2-3 years with general success
- makes/shares mixtapes with/for parodiety; has performed in competition to some of dave's tracks

- NEIGHBORS basil's going to be very neighborhood/community focused and he and his dad are basically a fixture in the chata/tisse neighborhoods. chances are if you live in either one, he's volunteered to help you at some point. he's a good boy.
- UNIVERSITY PEOPLE who don't like the fact that he sneaks into classes without paying for them. or just notices that's what he does. he kind of acts like he has a right to be on every part of campus so... someone call him out on that. call campus security.

Laughs...oh god. A kid that sneaks into classes just to learn would 100% be one of Kara's favorites. She's a research associate that teaches some courses and hell she'd probably help him get away with slipping into classes if he wasn't a disruption.

BLURB:

💕 Born and raised in Recolle, though not particularly social and unlikely to have too many friends.

💕 Much like in her canon, Maki has a love for music (she plays the piano, guitar and sings). When she was a bit younger (like ten, or so I wanna say??) she made a hobby out of posting videos of herself doing piano covers to songs on social media and sort of got discovered a la justin beiber style and got signed by label.

💕 She spent a lot of time training and preparing to debut-- vocal and music lessons were one thing (tough but expected) but it was the image prep, the people picking her apart and trying to rebuild her that really exhausted her. She grew up pretty quiet and shy but having grown adults rip her personality apart on the daily just made it worse.

💕 In the end her contract ran up, she never debuted and her label didn't renew her contract. Leaving her with no record deal and non-existent self-esteem.

💕 Maki canonically has a pretty strong fear of rejection and her run-ins with show biz have sort of recreated that fear. She's mostly the same as she is in canon: reserved, hard on herself, quiet and bad about being honest about her feelings. The only difference is she's a lot less prideful, and a lot more prone to doubting her own abilities.

💕 She kind of freaks out at any meaningful social interaction, so she has a tendency to get kind of snappy which I guess sort of mirrors the """tsun""" rep she's got in canon. She's mortified when it comes to putting herself out there (since it went so horribly the first time).

💕 Would just really like to explore her character in a context where she's got less pressure on her but is also a lot less confident of her own abilities!

💕 Maki still plays and records music! She loves doing instrumental covers of songs and soundtracks and posting them on social media! She however, never posts her face in any of her videos and she never sings.

💕 She spends quite a bit of time online, especially in the fandom sphere. You know that insensitive blogger you saw the other day who posted about how people are too sensitive about art and media and need to calm down? That's her.

LOOKING FOR:

💕 Pls give me an online beef plot-- I want Maki to really get into it with someone online and then discover this person who she got into World War III with on tumblr or whatever is someone she knows in person.

💕 Likewise internet friends would be great too! She's probably most comfortable with herself online, but would be hesitant to meet those friends in person. Exploring that growth in a friendship would be neat!

💕 She was probably taken out of school at 10 and homeschooled up until now (16??) because of how busy she was with her potential career so she probably is the New Girl at school. So friends?? General school chums??Acquaintancess?? Yeah

Makoto gets the "happy" AU. Her parents are both alive, her sister is a very successful prosecutor, and she gets to study abroad for a year in Recolle, while she works on her Anthropology degree.

Makoto is:
- Fluent in English, due to attending an international school her whole life
- Still somewhat of a standoffish busybody, let her be quietly nosy in your direction!
- A huge fan of penpals! So if you want someone to have written to you while she was in Japan, she could have been the one!
- Currently rooming with Orihime and Soleil!
- Definitely going to get active in the student government at Recolle U. Yep, that's happening.

LOOKING FOR:

I am looking for penpals! Study buddies! Anyone who might have known her in Japan? She grew up in Tokyo, in Shibuya (lol). I'm also open to flexing her AU to accommodate new people into it if you REALLY want CR with the Perfect Girl (tm).

AU OCCUPATION: Undecided! Undecided for him, actually, he's on a gap year post-high school to contemplate what he wants to do. Does he want to do art? Does he want to make apps? Is there a future in competitive archery? He'll need a part time job, meanwhile...

I posted him on one of these back in October, and it can be seen here if anyone wants to refresh themselves on ideas they had before. Let me know if you want to keep them or change them.

And, of course, more can and should reply if you're interested in CR or helping me with ideas for him. B)

So far, what I have in mind:
- He was born and lived in Recolle until 6th grade when he had to move due to his father's newly obtained military job.

- A real army brat, he moved from base to base until mid-high school when his dad died in combat like a real warrior. The rest of high school sucked, thanks, war. But by the time he graduated his mom mostly had picked up the pieces and was happy enough he felt okay striking out on a modern day adventure of bumming around, dressing like a hipster in trucker hats, and trying to figure out what to do with his life.

-Jack himself is a very friendly guy and loves kids, he sometimes plays harmless pranks but all in all, he's the guy not many can dislike because he tries to make it so people are happy. It has helped him move past his own grief. Most likely would be someone who volunteers at the YMCA or something similar to it or likes helping out at city events like fairs and whatnot that would involves having fun with kids and teens.
-He's not a loner this time around since, obviously, people can see him and he likes hanging out with people.
-Although he is a bit of a secret nerd when it comes to all things myth/folklore based. He adores the stories, and if the option is given in school, he'll take the corresponding class.
-He'll most likely minor in the subject in college if hockey is still a thing once he graduates, he's unsure if he wants to play professionally or not. Otherwise, he might put the hockey stick down and focus on literature and such.

I feel like the manga is obscure enough I'll put a little blurb: he's from a survival horror manga where high school students kill each other during childish games in order to get the powers from a god. Ushimitsu only cares about Akashi and wants him to be god because Akashi is kind and cool and will bring people back from the dead if he's god.

-- For added irony and shits and giggles, he will be the son of a pastor. His mom, an American, met his dad when she was working in Japan, but eventually they moved to America, again, for her work. His father preaches at a church all the meanwhile.

Ushimitsu really does not like being the son of the preacher.

-- If your character is religious and makes their way to his dad's church, you might see Ushimitsu there on a Sunday helping if his parents somehow guilt trip him into it.

-- Like in canon before he met Rokute, he will be a loner in high school who tries to keep to himself or act "normal" but even his practiced smiles are weird. He was/is bullied a lot in school.

-- In the AU, he will not have had a friend that changes him like he did with Rokute, but he does start to exercise and starts to become violent because it gets 100% sick of people picking on him. He usually does this outside of school, though. And lately he's been going to school less and less because what's the point of school!

-- He gets into fights quite easily, especially when he's in shadier areas of the city where people might not know him. Your character likes to fight to? Let's talk. B)

AU where Danny never ended up orphaned, abused, and turned into a living weapon. *a single tear rolls down my cheek* Wait no that's not what I'm here for!

Here are a few ideas off the top of my head...
- Matt works for the city as a prosecutor so sadly I can't offer him up as a lawyer for the company but there could be some funny awkwardness if Matt was previously on a case against Rand Industries.
- Naive young man from money who knows nothing about kung fu? Sounds like a great target for some criminals to take advantage of. Too bad there's a vigilante running around stopping this kind of thing lately.
- Coincidentally Matt has regained memories with both Luke and Jessica but not Danny yet. idk if you have a preference how soon he does. Not that he has to tell him immediately. He doesn't know the context that they all met in.
