AU WORKSHOP - JANUARY
Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here.

• Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM.
• For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC!

AU NAME: N/A
AU AGE: N/A (he's 26)
AU OCCUPATION: Vice-President (and sort of co-CEO) of Rand Industries.

BLURB:

Born and raised in the big city (probably New York).

Has travelled, but has otherwise lived a sheltered and admittedly privileged life, so his knowledge of how The Real World works is suspect.

He has never, once, ever, been in a plane crash nor punched a dragon in the heart.

Being groomed to take over the family business (a business that has probably been around for a couple generations).

Fresh out of getting a business degree, and boy was that a struggle, his father has decided it's time to let Danny spread his wings a little - so Danny's being sent to a new branch of Rand Industries where he's going to "take over"

"Take Over" means his dad is technically still in charge but Danny gets to try

He'll be trying to really amp up Rand's charity presence.

He doesn't know Kung Fu ... But he does yoga sometimes.

LOOKING FOR: Anything and everything? People to work for him, colleagues he can try to wine and dine, Lord knows this boy will need an assistant. I'm really open and love building up CR so come at me.

~~AU where Danny never ended up orphaned, abused, and turned into a living weapon. *a single tear rolls down my cheek* Wait no that's not what I'm here for!~~

Here are a few ideas off the top of my head...
- Matt works for the city as a prosecutor so sadly I can't offer him up as a lawyer for the company but there could be some funny awkwardness if Matt was previously on a case against Rand Industries.
- Naive young man from money ~~who knows nothing about kung fu~~? Sounds like a great target for some criminals to take advantage of. Too bad there's a vigilante running around stopping this kind of thing lately.
- Coincidentally Matt has regained memories with both Luke and Jessica but not Danny yet. idk if you have a preference how soon he does. Not that he has to tell him immediately. He doesn't know the context that they all met in.

um yes?? All of it.

01. Matt doesn't want to work for Danny anyway. Can you imagine? But I would love some tension there in the way of Matt having worked a case against them.
02. pLEASE give me this. I want Danny to never live it down that Matt had to save him from muggers or something.
03. No preference. I think Matt should mention it when the time feels right for Matt. All things considered, Danny would take it pretty easily? Like he'd laugh and be like "okay buddy" but he's pretty chill.

Great!

01. Matt would be in an eternal state of sighing. Let's be honest, Danny's assistant and closest employees are going to be his babysitters.
But yes, I'll have to think of what the details of the case would have been. City of Recolle vs Rand Industries? Hm...
02. Don't worry Danny, Matt won't torment you over it. He'll just be in the corner smiling smugly when he realizes you're the Immortal Iron Fist.
03. I like this approach. You never know what fun opportunities and exact reactions characters will have until you're in the game to be honest.

Well, I hate to be THAT person and point out things that hurt ... But the truck that blinded Matt (in Netflix verse) was a Rand truck ... Sob. So it could be like, a negligence charge or something? Maybe whoever was running the Recolle branch just hecked it all up so after the lawsuit, the guy was let go and now in an effort to clean it up, Danny's being sent in to give it a go?

That actually came to mind first. XD You're welcome to write that in as part of the reason Danny is in charge in Recolle now.

Hello!

First off Derek is a CSI at the Recolle Crime Labs and 25 yrs old.

Derek is childhood friends with Matt, so there might a connection there.

But also, Derek has a knack for coincidentally running into rich people who own or are heirs to family businesses (5 people so far... as far as I know). So Derek just might naturally gravitate towards Danny, especially if the person is in a bar. Derek has been spending a lot of time a bars lately.

If Danny wants to give money to a charity, might I suggest the Recolle Orphanage (and foster system)? Tatsuo, Matt, and Derek ALL went there at some point and Tatsuo still visits and helps buy Christmas presents for the kids. If Rand Industries donated money or otherwise spent resources on the orphanage, Tatsuo would take notice.

I absolutely support this. He might put out feelers, asking for input from people about what really needs attention around the city. I'd love for him to get involved in the orphanage, especially considering his canon life.

lol Tatsuo's response is always 'orphanage/foster system'. he spent eight years there and while he's not really bitter or scarred by the place, there's always room for improvement.

okay so i know our characters aren't from the same universe and haven't met each other in any universe, but look. i see a fellow marvel, i gotta say something

As for CR opportunities...it's kinda tricky because James/Bucky is 17 and still in school, buuuut I'm thinking maybe they meet via some charity thing that Rand is doing? Something related to supporting military families and/or veterans could work, because Bucky's an army brat so he gets involved in those sorts of things sometimes...

(Otherwise, James could punch him at some point. That's always an option too.)

oh maaaaan yes I would love if Danny got involved in something for military families. I'll have to think on what sort of thing, maybe google for ideas. But yes 1000x.

Foggy is from NYC like canon. He is a highschool English and Drama teacher instead of a lawyer in this AU. If Rand industries has HQ in NYC like canon they might have donated to local schools before. If there was some type of charity event it's possible Mr. Nelson would have been invited to represent one of the departments benefiting from the charity. This can also be one way Danny gives to charity while in Recolle.

I am BUMMED these two have not interacted at all in canon! I think they would have some hilarious interactions. Foggy would be surprised at Danny's obliviousness and he might tease him sometimes but we all know he loves to talk and would gladly fill Danny in on what he has missed. No extra charge for sarcastic side comments.

Foggy and Danny would get along so great I think?? They're both just sort of loveable goofballs TBH.
