I MEAN REALLY we've talked a lot about this, I am in love with the idea of these two being vaguely friendly right up until shit goes down in the history vs physics department, and also she's fond of Anna because how can you not be fond of Anna.

AU OCCUPATION: Freshman in college, though I'd like him to maybe get a job when he shows up? Either some sort of retail that he'll hate or something he'll love like working at a movie theatre he can get free tickets or working in a music store. Open to this.
BLURB: John Egbert is an 18 year old who just graduated from high school this year and will be attending RU in the fall. He plans on majoring in biology despite the fact it's not his first choice, but it's a solid one. Alternatively he might be studying cinematography or I might write a path where he ends up starting with one and swapping to the other, not entirely sure yet! He's an accomplished pianist even if he won't often say so and he played on his high school's soccer team for four years. He's generally very laid back and prone to making friends easily since he tends to accept people the way that they are and judge later if necessary. He's very passionate about his tastes in movies and video games and he's also prone to causing mischief and pranking people. Sorry about him. Overall bottom line: easy to befriend, generally calm, a loyal and good boy.
LOOKING FOR: Friends? As said above I won't be apping him until August's app cycle to ensure I can appropriately be available during July + August's events, but I'd love to kind of gauge friends and co-workers and stuff? He will be rooming in a dorm with Dave Strider in-game. So generally open to friends his age, younger, older…people who share similar hobbies? People he can just chat with? He's very easygoing and tends to talk to just about anybody. Hire him for a part-time job? Why the hell not.

➣ the young and wealthy son of a large corporation that's based in New York or Tokyo (i haven't decided), he's traveled extensively even though his family is based in Recollé

➣ dealt with his empty house (since his parents travel so much) by doing a lot of reading
➣ subscribed himself to arthurian legend and old fairytales decided that to be a prince would be the best way of life
➣ that said he's still kind of awkward and prone to back-handed compliments, just from being surrounded by hoity toity people clawing their way to the top for so long
➣ otherwise very chivalrous and kind, does his best even though he's the guy who takes 30 minutes to figure out the self-check out machine

AU NAME: Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu
AU AGE: ~20
AU OCCUPATION: Delivery Man / Odd jobs
BLURB:

• Kuzuryuu grew up in the wrong side of the city with a very poor family who had often had to fend for themselves and found themselves sometimes engaging in criminal behaviour
• His parents were the types to resolve issues with violence and occasionally resorted to crime to get the money or necessities they needed (though sometimes they didn't really need the money at that point)
• While pressured to do something similar, Kuzuryuu never engaged in such behaviour. Instead, as he lived in a terrible neighbourhood and was practically on the streets, he had to adopt a tough guy facade to make it through. It was an attempt to protect himself by scaring off anyone and to pretend to be the kind of person his family and environment wanted him to be
• Despite this, he's genuinely a good kid underneath his actual temper and tendency to shout/swear. Even if he grew up in a really awful area, he has a set of morals that he strongly follows (no underaged drinking, sex should be after marriage, etc) and he can honestly care about others (when he does get attached). He's also a good student?? He thinks school is important and you should pay attention, okay
• He has a Tough Time with expressing himself. He's not used to mushy talks about feelings so he can be very awkward about it and what tends to happen is that he gets frustrated and says the wrong things, sometimes yelling and storming off. When he does manage to give some words of encouragement, he gets flustered about it. Basically, he is just bad with emotions and words, but he's great with anger
• Living by himself because man, fuck living with his parents. He will take care of himself
• Buttttt he's dirt poor so he still lives in a shitty neighbourhood and works whatever jobs he can get (so he can be pretty stingy with his money). He mainly does deliveries for businesses (sometimes personal deliveries but he's more of a commerical guy) but can be seen doing whatever job that comes his way. He's that dude you call when you need someone to do some random job for a day or two (move shit, drive shit, mail shit, he's that guy)
• Asides from trying to make sure that he doesn't live paycheque to paycheque, he's trying to save enough so he could also go to school. Sooooo, people who skip class, he's going to be like !!! and lecture you about the importance of education because damn, not everyone can afford to go to school you ass
• Has a big sweet tooth but spending money on candy or snacks... just longingly stares at
• Also, this kid is like 158cm/5'1" + a baby face so yeah... but he has a deep voice for some reason though like ???
• Just let him be a no fun grump who lectures you while also learning the power of ~friendship~ (said power includes letting him drive you to Mcdonald's at 3am and buying you a burger even if he'll yell at you about it)

LOOKING FOR:

Anything is fair game! Coworkers, old classmates, childhood friends, police officers who know that his parents are shitty people, anything like that! Would definitely love some closer friends for Kuzuryuu, someone he could kind of rely on or open up to. Maybe some childhood friends where whenever his parents were being mega shits, he would ditch for the night to stay with a pal. Definitely open to whatever though!

AU OCCUPATION: College student, he'll be going into his second year later (it's a miracle he passed the first year)
BLURB: Not as much of an obnoxious weirdo as his canon self, luckily for everyone! He's still very outgoing, friendly, and loud, but not as prone to just going off on tangents out of nowhere or claiming he got abducted by aliens. (or forgetting everyone's name, including his...) He used to be competitive in archery but got bored with tournaments, and has written music as a hobby of his for a long time. Despite that being an interest of his, he hasn't declared it a major or picked a major at all; his parents don't think it'd be a viable career choice and he doesn't want to commit to any of the things they want him to pick. He's fascinated with the stars and pretty much only shows up to astronomy, music, and art classes (he's super into abstract painting recently, he's been practicing it a lot.)

really he just wants to be everybody's friend, please hang out with him, he gets lonely easily. He also doesn't have a younger sibling in this AU but he definitely has at least one sort of sibling figure. Probably a terrible dorm neighbor to have and will 100% try to secretly keep a cat in his room.
LOOKING FOR: Other college kids (he's that guy who only shows up to class when he feels like it, what is he doing), other people who are in music classes where he actually shows up more and does well, maybe some more not-actually-siblings, people who share any of his interests! Other idols too, he's the leader of an idol unit in his canon so I am so down for that CR. He'll write songs for you if he likes you (spoilers: he loves everyone.)

❖ Born the daughter of a wealthy international art dealer
❖ Grew up generally (read: disgustingly) well-to-do, but to a set of parents who always went above and beyond to instill in her an appreciation for hard work and personal independence
❖ Orphaned at age fifteen when, while on a vacation with her parents, their living arrangements caught fire and the roof collapsed. Carmen was able to escape the blaze but her parents tragically were not
❖ Unsurprisingly, is pretty badly claustrophobic as a result
❖ Spent a handful of years being raised by close friends and business associates of her parents, who then continued to manage her parents' estate while she pursued her studies
❖ Worked several years as an insurance claims investigator, ultimately developing a reputation as an expert at recovering stolen items
❖ Was badly injured on a case, leading to a medical leave of absence and her move to Recollé to recuperate, at her former guardian's urging
❖ Suffered from cabin fever for a while before eventually deciding to stop looking at her leave of absence as a burden and opting to instead treat the time off as an opportunity
❖ Assembled Veil Retrieval Specialists, Inc., which combined her personal work experience with her family's resources and connections to create an elite training organization that teaches other people to do the job that she once did herself
❖ Is never seen not wearing red in some capacity
❖ Tends to channel her personal wealth toward philanthropic goals and probably has a foundation of some variety
❖ Is an avid supporter of local museums, art galleries, libraries, and historical societies
❖ Has almost certainly funded at least a few scholarships
❖ Always wins at Trivial Pursuit

❖ FRIENDS, because the downside of her ambitious career-oriented lifestyle is that she hasn't really cultivated a lot of meaningful personal relationships prior to settling down in Recollé

- Born in rural Japan to two martial artists, and mostly grew up in their dojo
- Spent most of her time around/interacting with adults, since that was who came by for training/classes
- Her parents' worry about her social issues, in addition to a few other factors, led to them immigrating to Recolle when she was about 7 or so to teach martial arts here
- Unsuprisingly, the move didn't really help her socialization much at first with the language barrier, but over time she was able to learn English and get better at interacting with kids her own age
- Still fairly introverted and tends to speak politely
- Picked up a love of cooking/baking from helping her mother with dinner and desserts over the years, and has become her family's main baker, which inspired her to pursue a career in that field
- Has studied her parents' style of martial arts (leaning towards karate) fairly diligently as a hobby
- Is notably allergic to cats, which is the bane of her existence. She can definitely be found tearing and sneezing up a storm in order to pet any cat she comes across, and doesn't let silly things like allergies get in the way of volunteering at the animal shelter

BLURB:

• Born and raised in Japan, but moved to America due to her father's job. She quickly got accostumed to her American life and is pretty happy with it. Also, surprise, her dad isn't dead, she doesn't get locked up in a shrine, doesn't develops a severe phobia of fire, or she stays alive. Whoa, a happy life?? Who knew that was possible
• She grew up a pretty normal and happy life and instead of becoming a reporter like in canon, she is a high school teacher at Recolle High, teaching media arts and english
• She's very much involved in her students' lives and wants the absolute best for them. She has office hours before and after school all the time, and she's more than willing to talk to students about anything, even if it's not related to school. She wants her students to achieve their dreams and she's totally the type of teacher to come into class super enthusastic and to YELL IF SHE HAS GET HER POINT ACROSS
• ... she's super messy and disorganized though. Her apartment is a disaster and her work area is no better. It's probably a running joke that whenever she needs to find a pen in class, she'll open her desk drawers and it'd take her about a few minutes before she finds something.
• A huge believer of thinking positive and making the best out of a situation. Her catchphrase is "let's think positive!" and will do her best to cheer up anyone who's feeling down. She's definitely the type of person to go all out to help another (and surprise, she does this to hide her own negative feelings and to avoid them, haha it sucks)
• Oh my god, don't let her drive, though. Seriously, she drives like a maniac. It's a wonder how she got her driver's license. It's terrible. The worst part is... she loves driving. She will offer a lot of people free rides but don't do it. You'll regret every minute of it
• A big eater and drinker as well. Beware, she will raid your fridge and eat absolutely everything if you let her. Do not let her out of your sights.

LOOKING FOR:

Students (current or old), adult friends (drinking BUDDIES), neighbours (apartment neighbours!), roommates (sorry for dealing with her mess), anything! Maya is a very friendly person so it's hard not to be on good terms with her. I absolutely would love for her to be an older sister to some people and be a cool teacher. I just need her to have fun and be happy without all that depressing nonsense in canon (let maya amano live)

• Overachiever, high grades, student council president during highschool.
  
• Accepted into multiple prestigious Japanese universities but decided to go to Recolle University to do some good ol' young adult rebellion and experience that Distant Living life.
  
• Participates in archery tournaments and has a few championships under his belt. Activity has petered out since coming to Recolle.
  
• Retained his more rebellious side from canon, probably more similar to how he was in 1st year in canon.
  
• Still an uptight authority figure though.
  
• Only sings in private. Probably plays piano and has since he was a kid.
  
• Dabbles in drawing and has a significant following online. Basically an amateur illustrator but doesn't consider himself one. Art-Keito goes under a different handle.
  
• He loves animals. He loves animals so much.
  
• Essentially hover-mom's all his juniors. Everything is his business.

-More specifically, he was a bodyguard for one of their higher and respected members, who was like a father figure to him and raised him (surprisingly well) after his parents passed away.
-He has seen Some Shit, like corruption and general unpleasant not-legal things.
-Kagetsuna didn't grow up in Recolle, but it was a sort-of vacation spot of his dad/boss and where said dad/boss was hoping to land some good business ties to leave. He put the bonds with his subordinates first though, so that dream never came to real fruition.
-There are some debts that Kagetsuna was left with unfortunately when yakuza dad died. They're manageable and by old contacts who respect them but need that money. So nothing intense, but debts are there for a guy to deal with.
-Rather than try to make those payments by way of illegal mobster, he moved to Recolle for a regular life where he can almost feel like he's living.
-Does not like cops. He's mostly clean and only had one bad run-in with them back during dumb teenage years, but he's just wary because yeah, thanks adopted yakuza family.
-The night job as a bouncer is actually the one he likes! because it's kind of exciting and fun in a guilty pleasure gossip-insider sort of way.
-The above job experience (and more) does mean he knows how to fight off a person and took training for taking them down without severe injury (and lawsuits), but he generally won't use it unless it's on the job.
-Day job is for the in-store discounts and extra money on the side, retail is still terrible. He's willing to suffer though for his children.
-Green leafy children. His garden and plants are his babies.

-Personality stuff: He puts up an distant, unfriendly front… but get him to talk more and he's surprisingly nice, just rough around the edges.
-Some bark and the very rare bite, but his bite is actually kind of scary though!
-Is there something to say about fetch though with idiom, he likes being busy/working
-(secretly) Enjoys playing straight man to weird stuff and actually likes eccentric people even if he gets annoyed.
-Hella respectful to those he thinks deserve it, and it's not a hard standard. Also good to kids.
-He's normally more introverted and keeps to himself, but when Retrospec/Recolle's "reality" hits him (where did blue go?), his lack of tolerance for bullshit can't take it and he needs company to deal.

LOOKING FOR:
-People he sees at either job! They can be regular customers or he was just super helpful that one time. Or he was terrifying.
-Coworkers! He might work for Goro Majima's Host Club, but the garden center is something more generic.

BLURB: Tifa in canon is the emotional support and rock of her various canon friends, who suffers from a lack of emotional honesty and emotional shyness herself. Is in the monk class as far as Final Fantasy goes, which means she has super strength and can punch things really hard. Moreover a lot of her canon development and growth is tied (fortunately or unfortunately) to her sometimes vaguely defined, will-they-won't-they relationship with troubled hero, Cloud Strife. Tifa was a former ecoterrorist, who feels great regret and guilt over this and a billion other things.

My Tifa AU I'd want to separate her some from her canon self and give myself a chance to develop her away from her biggest canon relationship, but on a wider scale since she literally won't remember him. I'm wanting to play her as something of an adventurous spirit (if the ideas about her occupation above weren't an indicator) who has to ease into the role of protector and nurturer rather than automatically being slotted into it bc she's a girl from a 90s jrpg.

A few bullet points:
- was a Popular Kid in elementary/high school because she's still pretty approachable and nice even in an AU
- also bc she fought bullies. her desire to help others has extended to being the Mom Friend and also the Scary Guard Dog Friend
- Tried REALLY hard to get into classical performances per her parents' wishes, but it really wasn't for her. she likes playing but it didn't resonate with her as a career
- still an excellent pianist though. plays for her parents' guests during major holidays
- her dad is disappointed in her job choices, her mom is less so but worries about her messing up her beautiful face bc then how can she get married!!
- in other words they are pretty traditional but mean well
- she sort of lets them steamroll her on occasion and smiles and nods because she loves her mom and dad
- quietly is a little resentful though. has not managed to fully stand up to them yet. she'll fight everyone!! for her friends. will she fight her parents? no.
- she owns a motorcycle. they definitely had heart attacks
- with or without her parents' nagging her she kind of does? want to settle down with boyfriend or girlfriend and start a family but she's had a few relationships that haven't worked out in that direction. tends to be people who see her as something she's not really and inevitably end up disappointed, or people who want to change her into a weird ideal, so she's withdrawn a lot and her current potentials are usually people she sees a couple of times and then will ghost on even if she actually likes them bc she scared. MAYBE ONE DAY...
- she comes off as super confident and self-assured until someone gets to know her where they realize she is kind of shy and not as outgoing as her outward appearance would suggest
- not as big of a pushover as she is in canon though. overall a little rougher around the edges which is hilarious bc she lived in the dystopian hood for years but moving on
- without all that 'i was a horrible terrorist' stuff pulling her down a lot of her guilt and feelings of inadequacy are related to sometimes feeling like she's letting her parents down. it's not nearly as bad as it was in canon tho so she’s more independent and more confident in her own decisions. her struggles are less extreme
- is still stubbornly doing her own thing though in the hopes they'll come around
- sometimes they set her up on dates and she's just like, 'kill me.'
- is a huge romantic gushy nerd however, just hasn't found the right person. just wants someone to like her for...her. :( single tear
