BLURB:

• Born and raised in Japan, but moved to America due to her father's job. She quickly got accostumed to her American life and is pretty happy with it. Also, surprise, her dad isn't dead, she doesn't get locked up in a shrine, doesn't develops a severe phobia of fire, or she stays alive. Whoa, a happy life?? Who knew that was possible
• She grew up a pretty normal and happy life and instead of becoming a reporter like in canon, she is a high school teacher at Recolle High, teaching media arts and english
• She's very much involved in her students' lives and wants the absolute best for them. She has office hours before and after school all the time, and she's more than willing to talk to students about anything, even if it's not related to school. She wants her students to achieve their dreams and she's totally the type of teacher to come into class super enthusastic and to YELL IF SHE HAS GET HER POINT ACROSS
• ... she's super messy and disorganized though. Her apartment is a disaster and her work area is no better. It's probably a running joke that whenever she needs to find a pen in class, she'll open her desk drawers and it'd take her about a few minutes before she finds something.
• A huge believer of thinking positive and making the best out of a situation. Her catchphrase is "let's think positive!" and will do her best to cheer up anyone who's feeling down. She's definitely the type of person to go all out to help another (and surprise, she does this to hide her own negative feelings and to avoid them, haha it sucks)
• Oh my god, don't let her drive, though. Seriously, she drives like a maniac. It's a wonder how she got her driver's license. It's terrible. The worst part is... she loves driving. She will offer a lot of people free rides but don't do it. You'll regret every minute of it
• A big eater and drinker as well. Beware, she will raid your fridge and eat absolutely everything if you let her. Do not let her out of your sights.

LOOKING FOR:

Students (current or old), adult friends (drinking BUDDIES), neighbours (apartment neighbours!), roommates (sorry for dealing with her mess), anything! Maya is a very friendly person so it's hard not to be on good terms with her. I absolutely would love for her to be an older sister to some people and be a cool teacher. I just need her to have fun and be happy without all that depressing nonsense in canon (let maya amano live)

Look, Kaz can just crash over at Maya's place (if he doesn't mind the 104812938219 fire hazards over there) and they can drink themselves silly until they wake up with bad handovers in the morning and regret everything. They're adults, no one can tell them what to do

Please?? I need Maya to gather a million students so she can scream positivity into their lives

Sidon is a legitimately positive person (and maybe just good at not talking about what stresses him out or concerns him) and I feel like they'd have interesting cr if they ever hit more serious conversations.

I have seen gifs of Sidon on Tumblr and he is such a positive shark dude that I'm super sure that he and Maya would get along really well! They'd probably be those loud obnoxious happy people in a bar who'd eat and drink throughout the night

But yes, I think it'd be super interesting when more serious things happen and they're forced to address these issues instead of dancing around it. Someone needs to stomp on their positivity

...actually the more i read of this blurb the more I realize Bucky could be in her office quite often because he's a reckless hothead who probably finds a way to quote (and cite) the angstiest my chemical romance lyrics in every single english paper he's ever written for her

LMFAO look, if he actually manages to quote and cite lyrics in every paper he submits, she would genuinely be impressed. Of course, she'll be concerned and will talk to him about it, but she'd also highlight those lyrics and write comments like "I like this one!" or "I'll listen to this later!" or things like that

Ichi, ahhhhhh I love Maya and I want so badly for her to have a happy AU!! She can teach Ryoji to be positive again and I can offer you a current student in Mafuyu for English and if Maya is neighbors with Kaz, Mafuyu would also be there a lot, and a big sister figure would be so cute

Yo I am totally up for having Magi and Maya room. She'll be the eternal cynic to the eternal optimist of Maya. But probably won't clean up either so their apartment would probably be a mess lol.

Of course, if you're not up for that, then that's cool. Maybe they could be like, drinking buddies or something???

LAUGHS I'd definitely be up for Magi and Maya be roommates! I think Magi's cynicism to Maya's optimism would be super interesting CR. Even if they might butt heads, they can always drink together at night and sleep on their dirty apartment floor

It definitely would be, especially since even with those two outward differences in outlook they actually do have quite a bit of similarities. Both are trying to hide their negativity, after all, just int heir own unique ways.

Yeah their apartment is probably a mess but Magi is like "hey why should I clean I know where all the important stuff i- shit where did I put my keys?"

hello so!! bakura here is an egyptian-american and ESL (and it probably still shows in his english papers even though his grasp of english is obviously pretty far along at this point in his life) and has more than enough potential to be a good student but he acts out a lot because of his troubled home life and spends more time in detention or just not going to class altogether as a result... he can definitely be one of her students if you want someone she can keep an eye on!

he'll probably have to be bullied into attending her office hours on the rare occasion that he's NOT in detention after school though because he's a stubborn brat

Aw, Bakura, I would definitely love some CR between him and Maya! Maya is that kind of teacher who wants to be involved in her students' lives and to figure out if something is going wrong, so she could definitely be there to help Bakura if you like! To notice that he's in detention a lot and to ask if anything is going on and to lecture him when he's skipping classes

chiyuki can be a drinking buddy!! or a drinking... enabler?! she's a bartender in recolle. she has a kind of dry personality, but she's also an optimist, so i think they might be able to be friends... maybe they could be neighbors??

LAUGHS drinking enablers, trying to run Maya's wallet dry... but Maya would totally be enabled so this works out. She doesn't visit bars too often, just when she wants to go out with friends or celebrate so Chiyuki and Maya can definitely be neighbours! Have more opportunities to hang out and be optimistic together

Previous student possibility here! He would have just graduated, but English wouldn't have been his forte so he would have had to be in her office numerous times and struggled a lot with his temper... probably got teen angsty!mad at some of her first attempts to use her catchphrase on him, but he likely wouldn't have graduated without a decent teacher so he would definitely feel like he owed her at least something in return and would want to keep in touch????

Look, Maya has dealt with teen angst in canon and she can handle some teen angsty anger here too, it's all good. She's probably been a teacher for a few years so nothing super new for her. She's super patient but also is willing to call out on shit so I think she definitely could have been someone to help him!

And she's definitely willing to keep in touch! Especially with Retrospec, they could talk more over the network, laughs

So Aizawa here would be a math teacher also at the high school.......all I can think of rn is them being low-key (friendly??) rivals or something oh boy, especially since her positive disposition would be basically polar opposite of this guy's tired and dryly deadpan personality on this end. He might give her grief about her vanishing pens but she can also give him grief about catching him accidentally napping on his desk after classes are out for the day, it all evens out.

But maybe they end up being drinking buddies anyway every now and then bc sometimes teachers just need to commiserate over classes like this IDK...WHO KNOWS....
