✦ adoptive father is a veteran. adoptive mother is a housewife. both were highly involved with adam, so fairly idyllic childhood!
✦ moved to recolle with his adoptive parents around the age of 6 years old and has been there ever since.
✦ dreamed of being a policeman for basically as long as he could remember, but he did not jump straight from high school to police academy. instead, he went to college to get himself a degree in criminal justice because he realistically did not want to stay just a patrolman forever.
✦ worked a lot of part-time and other odd jobs during that time period to put himself through school.
✦ during his last year of college, met a gal. became engaged after a few years of dating. moved in together. it didn't work out. she got the apartment and he got the dog.
✦ after a couple of years working the beat, adam transfered to the major crimes division worked there for a few years. there was some shady shit (tbd), so feeling some mild disillusionment, adam's switched to the special investigations division aka internal affairs. this doesn't make him particularly liked because he's here to hold the department accountable, but he still maintains a good relationship with some people in major crimes to the extent that he might occasionally assist if requested.
✦ likes to tinker with computers/technological doodads in what little downtime he has and is actually not half-bad both in a hardware and software capacity for being purely self-taught.

BLURB:

Loreto Vivaldi is the son of world renowned pianist Maurus Vivaldi and the famous Spanish opera singer, Bettina Caballé. He was born in 1967 in Venice, Italy, the self-proclaimed "Most Beautiful City" in the world.

Much like his father, Loreto has an ear for music and he started to take after his father once he begun studying the piano. However, his love for instruments took more of a backseat later in life once he found more joy in composing music rather than simply playing. Loreto is skilled at both the piano and the cello.

While his father certainly had a strong influence in his life, Loreto also grew a strong passion for opera after watching his mother sing countless times upon the grand stage. His love for the drama and pageantry associated with opera inspired Loreto later in life to design elaborate costumes and props for his concerts. He believes that music isn't just all about listening to a few beautiful chords but also experiencing the true passion that lies behind every note. That is why his concerts are quite grand and elaborate in design, not the typical black-tie conservative performances. He likes to include the suspense and thrill of a live opera with that of an orchestral show.

Loreto learned much about how to create costumes thanks to his mother's friend, Stefano Nicolao. Stefano often worked closely with the Vivaldis and often helped Bettina with her many performances. Loreto also loosely learned how to sketch from Stefano's guidance.

When Loreto was eighteen years of age, he enrolled in the Juilliard School of Musical Arts in New York City. There he would often perform with his classmates at the renowned Lincoln Center and later at Carnegie Hall as a fledgling maestro.

It wasn't until he pursued his Masters at Juilliard, that Loreto met and fell in love with the painter Aulea Suzuki. Too shy at first to pursue her, Loreto would simply sketch the painter from affair upon the steps of Lincoln Center and leave his works beside her whenever he would take leave. At first, Aulea wasn't very pleased about having some 'Peeping Tom' sketching her whenever she was out practicing. However, the longer this coy game of affection continued, Aulea started to reciprocate these affections by stealthy painting the unknown artist thanks to a small mirror she purchased. After weeks of being the subject of this unknown artist's affections, Aulea finally caught him red-handed.

The pair dated for several years before finally deciding to take the leap into marriage. They married shortly after Aulea completed her studies. Loreto was finished his education years prior and was already crisscrossing the world performing at various sold out venues as a full-fledged composer. They married in his native city of Venice before doing another ceremony in New York for all of Aulea's family to attend.

Shortly after they were wed, Maurus Vivaldi died.

• born into a family that takes care of a shrine in japan, was being raised and trained to be part of that.
• however over a series of years there was a string of incidents of people having horribly bad luck after seeing him or being blessed by him, and with no common factor but himself he began to see himself as the curse that was afflicting them as the amount added up. when finally a mother and child came to be blessed for the future, he did it but ended up convincing himself he screwed the kid up for life and didn't want to see the results.
• his escape came in moving to recolle to help take care of his disabled aunt - ostensibly to help her and to grow his own independence, but also in large part influenced by how he doesn't feel worthy to work as he does. of course, he's also in his 20s and stupid, so the truth of that doesn't matter.
• anyway he runs a paranormal blog (blog being half legends and half documenting his explorations, contact him if you have something you want him to look into), and he works at club sunshine for actual cash and experience
• has heavy sleeping issues and so is often up at ridiculous hours - hence the need for work to accommodate.
• social even though he's still kinda weird and honestly ready to get into disastrous ideas because he's ready to say yes to bad suggestions.
• perpetually smiling, all the time, every day.
• internally aware that having no solution to his problems is bad but trying to avoid both that and crushingly low self esteem from seeing himself as bad luck.
• been in recolle anywhere from one to three years.
• and because it bears mentioning, instead of his canon hair and eyes, his hair is black and his eyes are one dark brown, one natural green. his hair covers the green one, but it's equally long.
• so much of this au is still open to being worked on though, i'm keeping my mind open about this.

LOOKING FOR: anything and everything! friends, people who've seen him at work, people to vaguely wonder why this weirdo's going out in the dead of night, internet chatting types, even people who've got some degree of family! i'm open to see how it could work.

AU OCCUPATION: Mfw the canon closest equivalent would probably be a sex worker BUT UH basically anything shady and otherwise looked down upon would work, so I was thinking maybe like a hostess at a club? Or maybe a bartender at a shady bar, something like that.
BLURB:

• Recolle native, the eldest of a very large family of siblings (likely orphans, some might be blood related and some might not be)
• She remembers her mother dumping her at the orphanage though, so that contributed to a lot of her current mindset and world views
• With no one to rely on, it fell on her try and support her family. Given her age though, this mostly resulted in shady and likely illegal work when she was younger. She's definitely had run-ins with law enforcement.
• Now that everyone's (probably??) grown up and can take care of themselves, she has no real goals or motivations
• Very jaded and cynical, pretty hyper-aggressive, you'd never guess that she tried to do everything she could to support her family since her attitude towards them tends to be irritated at best too
• Dropped out of school early on to focus on finding work
• Really talented at singing and has a good ear for music, but she's never put it to use. Good luck trying to request a song from her though.

LOOKING FOR: Additional family members who'd be part of this horrible dysfunctional set of misfits?! The bigger and messier, the better tbh. Maybe anyone in law enforcement who've dealt with her before and/or know to keep an eye out for her in case she tries anything else illegal. Someone who might try to encourage her on going back to school or finding some kind of life goal in general would be good, whether they knew her previously or not. Possible past lovers/exes because she's probably not one for longterm positive relationships. Of course, with her hyper-aggressive attitude, friends/enemies/frenemies who got into fights with her would also be fun haha...

- Ayano was born and raised in Recolle by her parents, two very accomplished scientists.
- While on vacation Ayano's parents were involved in a deadly rockslide...except miraculously, they both survived! Scared by the thought of losing their lives, their only daughter would be spoiled to high hell from then on.
- Ayano LOVES her parents and they love her, they're a perfect, happy family! And also pretty well off.
- Because of the brave rescue workers that helped save her parents, Ayano becomes obsessed with heroes and comic books, leading her down the path of being a huge nerd.
- While taken to a professional wrestling event as a young girl, Ayano falls in love with it and becomes an avid wrestling fan. The fact that the heroes in wrestling were real people that she could touch and meet made it so much more exciting than any comic book.
- Ayano is STILL obsessed with pro wrestling and refuses to grow out of it. She uses wrestling lingo whenever she speaks, and is constantly excited to talk about it. Occasionally she will refer to herself in the third person as if she were one of them.

- Ayano does terribly in school and has to repeat a year of high school, leaving her a year behind her friends. Her parents insist it's their fault.
- Spends a lot of time in detention for forgetting to do her homework. Or falling asleep in class. Or watching vintage undertaker matches under her desk in class.
- Because she's a year behind, she feels very ostracized and judged by her peers at school, not keeping a lot of friends despite the large amount of love she has to give. She's kind of that weird girl everyone just ignores.
- Pretty lethargic and lazy because of how she's spoiled by her parents and gets anything she wants. But a lot of kindness and hospitality is born out of that, too.
- ...But she can also be really childish, and often gets super worked up and will argue the hell out of you and then fuss about it.
- Over emotional and cries super easily. Despite this she is full of zest for life and tries her best not to be too down...This backfires a lot. Hence the crying.
- Started dating her best friend when she was in her early teens, and he dumped her despite her desperate clinging to him.
- She can get very romantic and wants to have a boyfriend, but ultimately chickens out at the idea because she's kinda not over her ex and also relationships are hard and wrestling is more fun.
- Wants to be a wrestler!!! But...is way too lazy to get her body in condition for it to where she could start training. So she's pretty directionless.

LOOKING FOR: High school friends! People she can geek out with! Scientist friends of her parents! People who she could ask for advice re: physical training. Fellow ppl from detention? TUTORS my god she is so dumb. Most importantly PEOPLE WHO SHE CAN HATE BECAUSE THEY SEEM TO BE UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT WRESTLING IS "FAKE"???

➣ She has a youtube channel, which can be described as sorta something along the lines of filthy frank. Or basically, complete degeneracy.
➣ Runs a theater troupe during the summer, but throughout the year she both teaches acting classes and runs her youtube channel.

➣ Self identifies as a "Professional Troll."
➣ Actually has a deep interest in metaphysics and philosophy and can appreciate having deep, philosophical conversations with people. These are usually rare though.
➣ Secretly writes poetry.
➣ I feel like she's one of those people who types just in entirely proper grammar with perfect spelling, and yet does so while saying the most absurdly stupid things imaginable. Just for more irony.
➣ Her years of exposure to /pol/ have left her without the ability to be offended and something of a distaste for the left.

➣ Maybe some students/former students of hers? Magilou does enjoy the company of other people into the performing arts.

・After graduating high school, he decided to leave his city and wander around to various places in hopes of finding a place to forget the pain of losing the two most important people in his life, which is when he ends up in Recolle

・He’s usually a laid-back, chill, sarcastic person that doesn’t think much. Actually, he didn’t go to school most of the time so he’s pretty… stupid… But his intuition isn’t that bad. also kinda tsundere at times.
・Lazy, he’s pretty unmotivated in life ever since his sister died
・He likes to say he’s popular with the ladies but man he gets super flustered easily also he’s still not over his sister…. And most often he just ends up being kind to the ladies anyway
・Also he got into lots of fights but he also lost most of them hahahaha
・He’s pretty good at tying a tie and making tea cause that’s the English way

LOOKING FOR: A... job??? He would rather not sleep outside, even though he's done that in his year of wandering after graduating high school. He's kinda of an idiot though so probably nothing too smart. Maybe a tea house. And anything else really, he's still a newcomer to the city but he's usually friendly.

» Has spent the last 18 years as a Royal Marine; a full career in the marines is 18 years, so he literally just retired this year
» Possibly coming to Recolle for a career opportunity? I'm thinking at a private security company, or as security for someone big and important? But I'm super open to suggestions!
» Is still Captain Lineface and needs to be shown how to have fun

So Laurent has a main bodyguard employed by his brother (Faolan, down page) but Faolan deserves things like 'days off' so if you want a French employer you could be Laurent's other bodyguard on rotation!

He'd be an amusing combination with Faolan too who is an Irish Captain Lineface, whereas Laurent is the excessively French youngest son of a billionaire media mogul.

AU OCCUPATION: College Student. I'm open to him getting a part-time job but I'm leaning against it as he probably wouldn't have the time or commitment.

BLURB:
- Born to parents both with careers in medicine. Was an only child as his parents felt their lives were too chaotic for more children.
Moved a few times when younger so didn’t make many friends at an early age. Family eventually settled in Recolle partly to be near his uncle’s family.
- Wasn’t pressured so much in grade school so experienced a period of rapidly gaining new interests that generally only lasted until high school.
- Was often looked after by his older cousin while his parents were busy. Found he liked baking and, by extension, working with his hands. He had a knack for dexterous tasks.
- Has went fishing with his father on occasion and found he likes it immensely, though this is largely due to how peaceful and serene it usually is. Otherwise, hasn’t bonded much with his father at all. Sometimes he’ll have long conversations with his mom about his life and his feelings, but she does little more than offer an ear.
- Began to work hard and study often in high school when he started to be pressured into planning out his future as following his parent’s footsteps to eventually get a doctorate of medicine. Doesn’t usually have time for socializing.
- Started classes in Krav Maga for self-defense when he and a friend were mugged in their first year of high school. Feels a great deal of guilt for it to this day and it motivates him to want to help others, even if he comes off as nosey. Has a blue belt but hasn’t been able to progress further thanks to the difficulty and other priorities.
- After dating his best friend and going through an awkward break-up, he’s ultimately unsure what he wants. He’s confused and would rather just not date anyone for the time being.
- Graduated high school with honors and is set for college, but is unsure if he even wants to do what his parents expect of him. He’s ultimately too indecisive to figure out a different path in life for himself and so the furthest he’s considered is dialing back on a number of years he plans to study for.
- Just sort of passive and easygoing, but sometimes opinionated. He enjoys the company of others even if he doesn't really have time to spend on maintaining a lot of friendships.
LOOKING FOR: Friends from middle/high school, mentors for college, fellow Krav Maga students. Anything, really. Any friends he does have are probably not going to be on the closest terms with him, but it wouldn't be a distant relationship at least.

Laurent Duvere is the youngest son of Aleron Duvere, a French billionaire who made his fortune as a successful media mogul. He expanded CableCorp, a French media company started by his father before him, via successful investing and buyouts until it became one of the largest media companies in Europe. CableCorp is a media conglomerate worth billions of dollars. It owns newspapers, TV channels, websites, magazines, radio shows, has shares in film companies.

Laurent's father and mother both died in a car accident seven years ago, leaving the business to be taken over by their oldest son Auguste with the assistance of his uncle. Auguste is well liked and clever, and largely Laurent trusts him with all this, but recently the usually more even-handed direction of the company and its reporting has begun to tip just enough to be noticeable. Since the death of his father, Laurent's uncle has been a more noticeable presence in the family's life and he has been helping Auguste run the company in a way that smacks of ambition. Laurent suspects his influence is responsible for this change in direction, and that his brother is a little too trusting of his own family to realise he is being manipulated.

CableCorp thus has had a certain amount of backlash, and while Laurent is likely not a recognisable face his surname is (in the same way the name Murdoch might be in life). There is a slowly developing scandal as the reporting methods of some branches are investigated, and Laurent is loathe to not be home to help but also aware he must let his brother handle it. He is in Recolle finishing a business degree, and generally travels with security in case someone decides to get a little heated. (Someone else who will end up on the workshop in a minute will probably be his awkward security guard).

CableCorp tends to back the mayor in most of its news! It is not the number one news company in Recolle, it's bigger in Europe, but it is present. The mayor probably plays golf with Laurent's creepy uncle once a month or something.

Her father was the stereotypical stoic patriarch - while he loved his daughter dearly, he was emotionally distant and left her wanting for emotional support. Consequently she strove to be the mother figure she always wanted but never had, volunteering to babysit for townsfolk as soon as she was old enough and acting as a confidant for her circle of friends.
- While not exceedingly wealthy, her father had a decent sized estate that, when he passed away, gave her the means to get through the culinary academy and start up her restaurant. The restaurant's successful enough that she's been able to earn a modest living on top of her market sales.
- Enjoys reading in her spare time. Naturally she enjoys the occasional guilty pleasure romance pulp, but has a soft spot for fantasy as well. One particular child she used to babysit turned her onto comics and graphic novels: she read and enjoyed every recommendation this kid gave her. She will never, ever admit this.
- Also enjoys playing music, and took up piano and some violin to fill most of her alone time. Oddly enough never thought to try teaching any of her babysitting gigs how to play.

• there aren't really any big, dark secrets in his past, but he's pretty disconnected with it thanks to his move to Recollé

-Pitou Blythe's parent die in a grizzly unsolved murder, which Pitou does not remember but has always heard people whisper about. This begins social isolation in childhood, as they are treated differently.
-Lacking extended family or other available caretaker, Pitou is moved to a community orphanage. Spends ages of 3 to 10 here.
-Pitou learns to read very early, and spends more time doing that than socializing with other kids. They are also athletically competitive, so even when they do socialize the other kids don't enjoy their intensity.
-Learns they can get a reaction out of others by saying and doing morbid things, and proceeds to do so. Learned behavior after hearing too much speculation on the death of parents.
-As a pre-teen, Pitou is moved into a foster care situation to try to facilitate more socialization through nuclear family life, as they fail to develop some expected skills. Moves through 2 families from the age of 11 to 16.
-The first family is simply unprepared for Pitou's issues. They find themselves a little bit scared of Pitou's intelligence and have no success with bonding nor controlling Pitou's behavior.
-Skips school, gets into fights with other kids, rude to teachers, does not do homework. All projects that are completed are completed on creepy topics.
-The second family is more versed in troubled fosters, and has more success with getting Pitou to conform to structure of a family life.
-Pitou is moved through several schools, trying to find the right fit for a very bright but very difficult kid. Public, private, charter, etc. Does not do well with strong restrictions, does not do any better with free form schooling either.
-Moved up a grade to try to stimulate their interest. Graduating early is a motivator to Pitou, the family takes advantage of this by encouraging Pitou to challenge themselves and graduate as early as possible.
-Still, much more motivated by extra-curricular activities such as volunteering at animal shelter, costume design for local theater, and martial arts. Gets talked in to a science club, but is disliked by other members for flippant attitude. The agreement with the family becomes that all extra activities will be fully supported and paid for as long as grades and attendance stay up.
-Begins college two years early with scholarship support, age 16.
-Begins in pre-med/neuroscience, very challenging, highly promising. Pitou, however, quickly becomes bored with the classroom. Does not want to commit to the full program.
-Switches to the mortuary sciences, fairly good credit transfer between degrees for classes such as anatomy and physiology. The two year program is much more appealing to Pitou's impatience.
-Struggles with interpersonal requirements of the mortuary degree, but improves socially (at surface level) from the experience. Can feign to be personable even if they don't genuinely feel it.
-Takes apprenticeship in Recolle, age 20.
-Involves self vigorously in the many opportunities for hobbies in the city.
-Remains better in the morgue than out on the showroom.
-After several years apprenticeship takes a permanent position with the help of eccentric medical examiner, Grell.
-Current age: 23. Lives alone in a city apartment with 5 cats.

LOOKING FOR: I am actually a reapp, but I barely got anything done the first time because of some IRL nonsense, I was also on the April Reserves but had to wait another month after getting a new job... I think I am in the clear this time though.

It's easy to tell that Teddie is well off- he wears nice clothing, seems a little spoiled and even a bit sheltered. But he's still a pretty nice guy, but he still thinks he's one of the nicer looking guys around. The ladies fight over him. (They don't actually do that. He thinks they do.) He enjoys video games and eating tons of ice cream and finding new and interesting things. His parents are gone a lot so he doesn't really get to see them due to their jobs. They put him through private schools up to this point but now he's going to be attending Recolle U in the fall.

LOOKING FOR: Someone to BE his sibling. I'd rather have a PC instead of an NPC for this, if that history works out for anyone. Also looking for girls for him to hit on and fail miserably with. And guy friends to just get in general amounts of trouble with.

• Judith spent the bulk of her childhood being raised by her single father, after moving to Recolle for business from their small, mountainside village. He was a tad bit of a workaholic, for various reasons, so Judith didn't see him much. She did however become lovingly acquainted with some of his Weirdass Inventions.


• Her only company through a lot of lonely nights was her family dog, Dog Version 1 (jokingly named by her father), but who she instead named Mercury. Needless to say, she has a Very Big Love for animals.


• Standard high school experience. She didn't have any notable friendships, but she was friendly with most people and was pretty active in the athletic scene.


• Her father became pretty sick around the time Judith hit 16, which left her in a pretty hard place. She had always been pretty independent, but given that there was no one else to care for him, that duty fell to her and Dog Version 1. After high school she chose not to pursue university just yet, opting instead to continue her streak of odd jobs in order to support her family, which ultimately led to them downsizing into a smaller apartment. This lasted until halfway to Judith reaching 18, which is when her father passed away. She took it pretty hard - she still does.


• She's done A Lot of Shit. From retail to bartending to modelling, which she actually stayed with a bit even though it kind of... jaded her? And didn't really speak to her. Through all of this she stayed into sports as a kind of stress relief when she could find the time, which ultimately got her pursuing stunts. It's her break from an otherwise monotonous life.


• Of course that didn't jive well with her modelling, since she'd show up less than 100% to shoots sometimes, so she pursued that full-time.


• The pay was okay, enough to survive on. Being at some point in stability she decided to go back to school... just because she figured that's what her dad would want. Her actual attendance is iffy sometimes due to work and her inability to stand still, but she's a surprisingly good student and tries her best to keep up.


• Also she's an adrenaline junkie. A giganto adrenaline junkie. And has absolutely 0 shits to give about what other people think of her, she probably gets her studying done up in trees when all the study spaces are taken because??? why not.
