Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! AU OCCUPATION: High school freshman/part-time pet shelter volunteer
BLURB:

☆ in the ninth grade!
☆ a pretty average student (mostly B's and C's) that struggles to focus unless she's interested, but could likely excel if she just put in the effort
☆ loves the outdoors, but isn't the most physically adept at sports. still, she's more athletic than she looks!
☆ a self-determined champion of creepy-crawlies; she admires insects and enjoys studying them on her own time, will fight you for kicking in an antpile
☆ has low confidence, no social guile, and feels things very strongly = can come across as an awkward crybaby
☆ she was lightly bullied all through middle school because of her name/idiosyncrasies and still experiences a degree of teasing; it's nothing over the top or dramatic, but it's definitely affected her
☆ she identifies A WHOLE LOT with underdog stories and knows movies like the karate kid by heart
☆ the above is partly why she volunteers at a pet shelter, weh weh these poor vulnerable animals
☆ values teamwork as much as individual success and tends to be more willing to shoulder responsibility than most young kids
☆ goes to band practice like a NERD
☆ probablyyyy an only child with competent but absent parents and comes from a middle-class (ish??) background
☆ she's not a bully herself, but she'll sometimes pick fights or act out if she feels provoked, and tends to bite off more than she can chew
☆ basically one of those kids that registers as "the nice, quiet one you can trust not to draw dicks on their homework" and then you look at their record and it's a little more checkered than you would have guessed

Well, as mentioned, she might have Émi as a big sister figure. And she will nag her to put more effort into schoolwork.

it's the schoolwork's fault for being dumb and boring, tbh!!11

that sounds really cute though....how do you think they might meet/have met? i'm playing with the idea of her not having a ton of friends, so she fills up her free time with going out and Doing Various Things (aka whatever might catch her interest), which can open up tons of opportunities for first meetings and general interaction.

And ends up running into Émi somehow, she doesn't sit still really, heh.

i'm ready to beat up the small bug child for something completely inconsequential like knocking his violin case to the sidewalk accidentally or something

i want them to build up this one-sided rivalry where he's like "go away bug" and she's like I'LL SHOW YOU!!! and keeps finding ways to either annoy him or try to compete with him, even though she'll never ~~~win and it's the ultimate NO ONE CARES situation, with his rudeness just fueling the fire further because she's too stubborn to give up
