Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. WELL now that you mention it! Fai's parents/grandfather were kind of terrible people and were horribly abusive. I'm canon-blind but maybe the uncle would be the way to go? It's up to you lol!

If you're comfortable with it! I just don't want force it on anyone accidentally. The gist basically is in canon that Laurent's uncle is essentially a paedophile, and abuses Laurent when he's like 13 and keeps excessively young and pretty 'pets' that he loses interest in when they get too old. He's also a manipulative jackass who keeps a squeaky clean public image and always manages to twist things so Laurent is this Troublesome Nephew who is lazy and neglectful. He's the canon reason for Laurent's father dying although Laurent doesn't find out for sure for a long time, and I'm -- PAPERING OVER A LOT OF THIS IN THIS AU clearly and losing the abuse by keeping his brother alive as a buffer (in canon, the rest of Laurent's family winds up dead so there's nobody to protect him). But ICly in Recolle I imagine his uncle is still creepy and hiding it, just -- off screen!

It's ok, I don't squick easily when it's just rp-pretendy stuff! But yeah I kind of like the idea of Fai's family having been friends with Laurent's uncle, or maybe friends with the parents too but better friends with the uncle? Fai's parents/grandfather were great at hosting parties and being socialites and hiding the fact that they were horrible people.

Most of Fai's family would have died roughly a couple years before Laurent was born, but I'm sure Fai would remember Laurent's family and maybe one or both of them could dig up old family pictures of them all together? Basically I think it would be cool for them to realize they have this weird old connection somehow and they can commiserate about family woes :)

Sure! For the in game AU Laurent will be currently unaware of his Uncle's Special Interests and probably just vaguely aware that isn't fond of him. His older brother is one of those guys literally everyone likes because he's so charismatic and nice (he'd be 32 at this point) and Laurent's parents were well liked too for being generally nice people.

(They can also have extremely French flirt battles.)

Oh wow if his brother is 32 Fai probably got to play with him a little when he was tiny :3 Let's do it!

Jumping in here to introduce Faolan as Laurent's grumpy Irish bodyguard who will be awkwardly hanging around in the background of some of these scenarios. Enjoy staring at cute boys with your awkward professional shadow :') Though those French flirt battles will make him subtly shifty and uncomfortable, he never knows whether Laurent is teasing about these things or not. He should know because he is always teasing but there is always that one time where he might not be SHOULD HE BE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS EXCHANGE keeps awkwardly pretending not to listen in while hanging on every word

LOL HI Fai is totally okay with cute Irish shadows, Irish accents are the best and Fai will probably gush all over Faolan for it :3

The flirting probably won't get too crazy since Fai does have a boyfriend (see Kaiba below here!) but I'm sure some form of shenanigans will ensue. I'd say Fai will try not to worry Faolan too much but hell I'd be lying ;)

Oh man Faolan totally wouldn't know what to do if the attention were turned in his direction though, he's so much more of a background guy and not at all good at being in the spotlight. He's a lot of fun to tease in that regard, even if Fai does have a boyfriend, because he'd just get so many fun reactions out of Faolan while he tried to play it off while also internally being like "wait are you serious are you actually interested no you couldn't be no one is interested in me but what if you are oh god". He is so awkward I'm sorry but I'm also really not at all HAHAHA

oh my god awkward turtles are the best, and with an Irish accent to boot...

I fully look forward to him getting teased into forever. Faolan on the other hand isn't so sure about the matter.
