AU WORKSHOP - JUNE Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. AU NAME: Kaguya Pekoyama
AU AGE: ~20
AU OCCUPATION: Culinary student, with a focus on baking
BLURB:
- Born in rural Japan to two martial artists, and mostly grew up in their dojo
- Spent most of her time around/interacting with adults, since that was who came by for training/classes
- Her parents' worry about her social issues, in addition to a few other factors, led to them immigrating to Recolle when she was about 7 or so to teach martial arts here
- Unsuprisingly, the move didn't really help her socialization much at first with the language barrier, but over time she was able to learn English and get better at interacting with kids her own age
- Still fairly introverted and tends to speak politely
- Picked up a love of cooking/baking from helping her mother with dinner and desserts over the years, and has become her family's main baker, which inspired her to pursue a career in that field
- Has studied her parents' style of martial arts (leaning towards karate) fairly diligently as a hobby
- Is notably allergic to cats, which is the bane of her existence. She can definitely be found tearing and sneezing up a storm in order to pet any cat she comes across, and doesn't let silly things like allergies get in the way of volunteering at the animal shelter

LOOKING FOR: Customers, friends, classmates, acquaintances - anything, really!

OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: Most likely will be apping her or Junpei Tenmyouji from the Zero Escape series (somewhere below).

hi! i can offer dia here as a customer/high school friend; she's also japanese and very polite so i think they'd get along really well!

That would probably work! If they met when Dia transferred in, she'd probably have empathized with her a lot since she remembers what that transition would be like... but either way she'd definitely appreciate knowing someone else from a similar background.

yeah! dia probably transferred in...intermediate school, so they may have met in high school somehow! maybe dia helped translate for her once and they became instant friends that way?

I was thinking of having her move to US/Recolle around elementary school ages, so she probably wouldn't have needed too much translation help by then... :|a

Unless it's like a paper or something where her written English might still have needed a little work?

heya! i just wanted to update you and let you know that i won't be apping dia; i'll be apping ann here instead! i'd still love some cr though since ann will be a college student. would peko be the type to study in the library?

Probably! She'd take school very seriously in lieu of canon duties, so for any general ed classes/etc. she'd probably be spending a few hours there at the least. They can definitely commiserate over that common college experience.

god both your choices of characters are great but!! I've got Sakura here who is also a Japanese immigrant who is 21. She's mostly an #instafamous cosplayer and working odd jobs so that she doesn't have to do anything with her life. She loves eating food so I would totally peg her as one of Kaguya's friends who she could leech food off...

Yes that could totally be a thing! Especially if they met when both relatively young and weak at English, I could see a friendship forming over mutual language and developing into "taste testing"/free sweets...

Pekooo... Kurt could possibly be a classmate if she has any gen classes (or maybe he can try a baking class next semester for the hell of it??) or they can run into each other around campus. He would gladly volunteer as taste tester

I'm realizing now that I'm not sure if the culinary school would be affiliated with Recolle U! :|a I should look into this.

But whether classmates or accidental acquaintances, she'd definitely be down to have some taste testers. Saves her from having to sample a million sweets...

OH! Yeah that could be a thing to look into, I just assumed it was together.

But yeah sounds good! We can figure out a way for them to meet either way!
