• Orphan girl raised in the Recolle orphanage!
• Her parents were normal people killed in a violent crime when she was an infant! It was a nasty incident, and there were rumors of her parents being connected to the mob, which caused it, but nothing was ever proven. Cleo herself got a head injury at that time, which left her blind in her left eye and made it blue.
• Growing up, she ended up with a strong fixation on the idea of heroes and justice! She decided she was gonna be a HERO.
• She was a problem child who, when she was a child, decided 'hero' meant 'beat up bullies'.
• A kindly old man who will be left vague convinced her that beating up people wasn't the answer, and turned her energies towards learning martial arts, and fencing/kendo.
• Attended Recolle High School, got through that well enough, but ended up often in conflicts with other students because she wouldn't let any rule-breaking slide, no matter how minor.
• Is now a first-year student at Recolle University, studying law!
• She does job shadows with police officers and detectives! She's obviously planning on going into law enforcement.
• She's kind of an uptight, overly-serious type. It is genuinely questionable if she has ever had fun, ever, period.
• Her only hobbies are martial arts/sword training! Or at least, it's the only one she'll admit to. She secretly has a weakness towards superhero shows, and watches them at home while working out or something similar.
• Due to her physical hobbies and lots of physical training, very strong! She may or may not have once bench pressed a person, just to prove she could.
• Extremely honest and straightforward. She hates lying and avoids it whenever possible, even when it's extremely dumb to be honest.
• Really likes cats! Has a collection of cat-related items. Cat print tights, or a bag with a cat face on it, or things like that.
• Is very, very bad at talking to people, and prone to accidentally shoving her foot down her throat without realizing it. As a result, has few-to-no friends. She means well, she just talks before she thinks a lot of the time.
• Has weirdly big preoccupations with honor and justice. Tries to act like a knight.

LOOKING FOR: Police or detective characters! Anyone involved with law enforcement, she can follow around different officers or private detectives to learn more about the jobs. Orphans from the Recolle Orphanage who she'd know, as well! Also shady/criminal types that she might get really mad at.

BLURB:
I'm still kinda working out the kinks, so if anyone has any suggestions that'd be great. However the gist is;

- Sora grew up in Hawaii, and had a relatively normal childhood with a big family and lots of friends. His mom is Japanese, and his dad is Hawaiian, so he grew up with a great mix of both cultures as well as American culture. He has a twin brother as well.

- When he was ten, his father died of Disney-Parent-itis, and not long after, his mother packed him and his brother up and moved them to Recolle for work. His brother didn't stay long; he got a really good scholarship to a nice boarding school. As of now, it's just Sora and his mom in a house by themselves.

- He's that kid that brings home all the pets. However, after one dog and one cat, his mother put her foot down, and he isn't allowed to keep them anymore. He does, however, sneak them home and take care of them until he can find them a more permanent place to live. He's had cats, dogs, birds, mice, ferrets, rabbits, and once, a duck.

- He's currently applying for colleges and planning his future and all that other fun stuff one gets to do at that age. However, he doesn't really know what he wants to do with his life quite yet. The current plan is to go to Recolle U. and get his general studies out of the way, and then pick a major further down the line. He's pretty much a straight B student. He doesn't hate school, per-say, but really, he's only going to college because he doesn't know what else to do.

- Personality-wise, he's very unchanged from canon. However, with age comes wisdom, and he's certainly a lot more realistic in his goals and wishes than in canon.

- A bit of a stepford smiler, honestly. He'll smile through anything, and hardly ever says no if someone asks something of him, even if he doesn't want to. Probably gonna get voted 'Nicest Guy' in the yearbook.

- Probably plays a sport, but I'm not sure what yet. Soccer, maybe. Also, secretly kind of talented at sewing. It's not something he's keeping secret, but he doesn't brag about it either.
LOOKING FOR: FRIENDS. Sora is friends with EVERYONE in canon, and I would LOVE him to have some pre-established friends. Other than that I'm open to pretty much anything.

(Also, the 'twin brother' spot is open to any Roxas's out there...)

- Orphan found in a park and taken to Recollé Orphanage. (His exact age is unknown, his birthday is the day he was found; his age is an estimate. The people at the orphanage also gave him his name.)
- His dream is to open a cat cafe in Recollé.
- He dances, has been dancing since he was 6 after he was enrolled in a class as an attempt to get rid of some of the excess energy he has.
- To stay fit he also and swims and weight trains.
- Does dance and yoga videos on youtube. His cats often make appearances, particularly in the bloopers.
- Back in high school he was part of the dance club/team, and if not for his habit of drifting off after cats, he could have been captain. Not that he wanted to be captain.
- He was not very good in school, and barely got good enough grades to not have to repeat. Thankfully he managed to graduate.
- And he drifts off after cats, goes to play with them and gets distracted by them, always.
- He sucks so badly at cooking (except when it comes to the cats) so he lives on takeout and microwave food. He's a vegetarian.
- IDK where he lives yet, but he lives alone with his cats. Unless anyone wants to room with this cat nerd.
- He calls people "nyan" after their names.
LOOKING FOR: Potentially a roommate, potentially adoptive parent(s)? potentially biological parent(s) who abandoned him in that park for one reason or other? Friends, orphanage family (bc of course everyone that lives/works there are family), cat buddies, dance friends, old classmates, teachers, students, co-workers, a bff!, gf/bf?, and anything.

-She had a habit of turning over black hats (who primarily did sloppy work or were more exploitative than she was comfortable with) to a government employed friend and he ended up helping her get a job.
-Personality wise, she is friendlier over-all but still has her tendency to mess with people and her unnerving ability to accurately predict the behavior of the people she works with.

LOOKING FOR: Friends, Hacker buddies, old college buddies. She's probably got more than a few exes, and maybe a rival hacker or colleague that can't fucking stand her.

BLURB:

* Japanese, but born in Recolle. His mom had and affair with a married man and relocated to Recolle after discovering she was pregnant.
* However, Tatsuo ended up in ~~foster care~~ Recolle Orphanage (this is what I get for not reading the whole setting page) at 11 after his mother was killed by a drunk driver.
* Got into scraps as a kid and eventually found his way to a karate teacher. Now he teaches part time at the karate dojo he trained at as a teen.
* After high school Tatsuo attended Recolle University and earned a degree in forensic science, which he uses working for the Recolle Police as a CSI.
* Has the fluffiest hair ever apparently (idk I've never understood why his hair is considered so weird in the manga)
* Disgustingly cheerful and a giant dork. Very laid back and easy going, but will occasionally smile when he doesn't really mean it, kind of a bad habit.
* He doesn't have too many hobbies, as work and teaching at the dojo keep him pretty busy. But he is a sneakerhead.
* He has terrible fashion sense otherwise. Terrible. Someone help him. He tries to dress cool and it's just, no.
* Has canon amnesia issues, so this will be fun.

LOOKING FOR: Looking for people Tatsuo lived with in the foster home, people he trained with at the karate dojo, college buddies, roommates (past and maybe present?), coworkers on the police force, ex or current girlfriend? I just want to make his life as happy as possible before I start breaking this cutie.

ALSO. My first born for a Tacchan. Like, they don't even have to be in the ~~same foster home~~ orphanage. Or even roommates in college, though that would be funny. Hell, I'd be fine if they'd never met in Recolle before at all, because the image of Ikuo chasing after Tatsuya like goldfish poop as he regains his memories and tries to convince Tatsuya that he knows him is extremely appealing.

OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: Not so much another character, as I can go two ways with Ikuo. I could app him from the manga or the drama. Apping him from the drama would just be so much easier, but there is so much more to work with manga-wise. As in trauma.

• born into a family that takes care of a shrine in japan, was being raised and trained to be part of that.
• however over a series of years there was a string of incidents of people having horribly bad luck after seeing him or being blessed by him, and with no common factor but himself he began to see himself as the curse that was afflicting them as the amount added up. when finally a mother and child came to be blessed for the future, he did it but ended up convincing himself he screwed the kid up for life and didn't want to see the results.
• his escape came in moving to recolle to help take care of his disabled aunt - ostensibly to help her and to grow his own independence, but also in large part influenced by how he doesn't feel worthy to work as he does. of course, he's also in his 20s and stupid, so the truth of that doesn't matter.
• anyway he runs a paranormal blog (blog being half legends and half documenting his explorations, contact him if you have something you want him to look into), and he works graveyard shift at some place to make actual money. possibly taking online community college courses as well.
• has heavy sleeping issues and so is often up at ridiculous hours - hence the need for work and school to accommodate.
• social even though he's still kinda weird and honestly ready to get into disastrous ideas because he's ready to say yes to bad suggestions.
• perpetually smiling, all the time, every day.
• internally aware that having no solution to his problems is bad but trying to avoid both that and crushingly low self esteem from seeing himself as bad luck.
• been in recolle anywhere from one to three years.
• and because it bears mentioning, instead of his canon hair and eyes, his hair is black and his eyes are one dark brown, one natural green. his hair covers the green one, but it's equally long.
• so much of this au is still open to being worked on though, i'm keeping my mind open about this.

LOOKING FOR: anything and everything! friends, people who've seen him at work, people to vaguely wonder why this weirdo's going out in the dead of night, internet chatting types, even people who've got some degree of family! i'm open to see how it could work.

- That also means he had to help his sweet and perfect widow mother take care of his siblings. He's very family-oriented and probably wants kids of his own before he turns 30 or something.
- Lives alone in the shittier side of town but visits his mother and his siblings often.
- He wants to be a detective or something, but god, he's so dumb. He's so dumb. He had to repeat his senior year in high school. He didn't go to college so he can support his mother and siblings. Also, he couldn't pass the entrance exam anyway.
- Hot-blooded, temperamental, energetic and reckless, but probably less violent and prone to swearing than in canon. Gotta keep his act clean for the kids!
- Since he grew up with a lot of friends and a loving family, he's less lonely. Also, less prone to suddenly leaving everything for a life of crime.
- He's adorkable, bright and thoughtful, but he also wants to look cool and tough, so he's often at odds with himself and it's hilarious.
- He dyed his hair because IT'S COOL, but he doesn't want tattoos because he's a weenie. :(
- Grew up watching superhero shows, collecting trading cards and playing video games. He still does all of these.
- Stupidly athletic. Was probably part of a varsity team in, but not sure... which one... I'm thinking baseball.
- A DDR champion for 2 years in a row at one point.
- Doesn't know how to ride a skateboard. Knows how to drive a car, at least...
- Still can't talk to women.
- He was probably assigned to a case that involved a strip club at one point but blew his cover because he saw a nipple and squealed. Like, literally.

-Orion is semi-antisocial because of mental health and fighting background. He is also pretty blunt when he speaks up and isn't afraid to hurt your feelings.
-He is Schizophrenic - Particularly suffers hallucinations and paranoia.
-He is easily goaded into a fight by being called "chicken" and the like.
-He's a messy person. Anyone who visits his abode is likely to see no organizational system whatsoever.
-Because he has difficulties keeping jobs, he switches semi-frequently between living in a small apartment and going right back to his parents when his money runs out.
-Heine hates being restricted in any sense, and thus can rebel against rules just because he doesn't want to conform to them. He's not a massive criminal or anything, but breaking rules is certainly not below him to get a desired effect.
-He has a background in street fighting and hails from Oregon. So, if you got in a fight with someone who particularly enjoyed kicking someone's ass, it'd probably be this guy.
-This guy hangs out at the library from time to time, if only to research potential jobs he might want to get a degree in. (So far, he's found nothing that he's particularly interested in.)

LOOKING FOR: Definitely friends, since he moved here when he was seventeen. Anyone who can tolerate his shit and try to coax him to try to do more than live out of his parents house for a few months on a stretch. People to start fights with, calming people to soothe him during an episode. And generally just about anything in between. I'd be open for family members outside of his parents, too (I prefer his parents to remain NPCs). Also anyone he may have fought with back in the good old days of highschool.

Employers are a good idea, too.

I am also willing to tweek parts of my story to make backgrounds match up. Things like places he was raised in are extremely flexible.

- Second-generation immigrant: his parents came over from Aomori, Japan, after a run of bad fortune convinced them that the only way they could get their lives back on track was to shake things up, and they'd always wanted to live in a big city anyway.
- They speak a lot of Japanese at home, and Shuji's embarrassed to speak Japanese in front of anyone other than his parents, even if most people here don't know Tsugaru-ben's reputation.
- An only child! His relationship with his parents is awkward due to his difficulties with school and him actually learning how to support himself, but there's no doubt they love each other.
- Shuji has always been bright, but one of those kids who thinks that being bright is enough to get him to pass through school and college flawlessly even if he doesn't study and spends his time writing in his notebook or listening to fifty different Youtube (or whatever it's called here) channels about fashion or flirting with girls-
- Unsurprisingly, this doesn't go all that well for him in college. He's currently on his third attempt at college: the first two ended somewhat similarly, with him taking breaks in between. He'd try his best for a while and then get distracted by other, more fun pursuits, then feeling bad about getting distracted would make him want to cheer himself up, and so forth until he had to withdraw. Right now he's still doing okay in this attempt, but who knows.
- Of course he's majoring in literature.
- To help encourage responsibility, his parents have required him to get a part-time job this time around, so he's working in some sort of retail thing. This is probably not good for his mental state, but it was the first thing he could find available. He tends to be easily cowed by customers, and his coworkers have probably all seen him cry at least once.
- Lives at the dorms for that sweet, sweet roommate CR.
LOOKING FOR: College friends - a roommate, classmates (especially fellow literature/other fine arts majors), teachers who he's begged for extra time on a project or who remember him from his previous two attempts at the same school. Anyone who's interested in writing would be cool as a 'meet up for coffee or (more likely) alcohol and talk about Art' thing. If anyone does Youtube channels, he might be a subscriber? More of a long shot, but it'd be awesome to have someone famous in either the literature or fashion worlds that Shuji could get his fanboy on over.

Painfully British thirty-two year exercise in extreme mediocrity.
Muddled his way through Generic Mirror-America East Coast State University and fumbled his way into work visas and a green card. He’s bounced around a few tech firms between then and now. Currently planning on him having been in Recollé for about a year.
Had a reputation in University for a so-insane-it-has-to-be-good programming style that was swiftly uncovered as mostly just insane. He’s got a tendency to pitch great ideas that eventually suffer from disastrous implementation, so he’s learned how to keep his head down and truck along in the interest of holding down a job. But GOSH wouldn’t it be great if people learned to recognize his GENIUS??
Too bad he is bumbling, tactless, absent-minded, and generally lacking in attention span. Incredibly high-strung. Eccentric. Never, ever, ever shuts up (but at least his accent is nice). He’s That Guy.
Somewhere under that charming (???), hapless exterior is a potentially crippling inferiority complex and a burning desire to be taken seriously, but don’t pay attention to that. It’s fine. He’s absolutely fine.

AU NAME: IDK he’s probably keeping his own name

AU OCCUPATION: Owns an indie game company. He also probably pro games for extra cash and is doing a part-time degree course at Recollé University.
BLURB: The key AU change that I'm making is that he and Mokuba were never adopted by Gozaburo. Have some key pointers about him below:

• Was adopted at age 8. New adoptive parents were reasonably well-off – father was a lawyer, mother worked at an international conglomerate.
• Family moved Recolle five years ago after graduating from college, when father took on a new job in the city.
• Still ridiculously smart. Graduated from high school a year early because of accelerated classes and achieved an almost-perfect GPA. Taught himself computer programming and took game design classes online out of sheer curiosity.
• Has degrees in commerce and law because his parents pushed him into it – he didn’t mind studying for it.
• His law degree is from Recollé. Currently doing on a part-time basis a second degree in Computer Graphics, Vision and Imaging. Is in what would be his third year had he done it full-time.
• Currently owns an indie game company who has received pretty good reviews for the game that he’s put out – it’s a ridiculously elaborate first-person RPG game with puzzle solving and strategy elements dealing with fantasy creatures (ahem, dragons.). His current project is experimenting with the possibility of virtual reality and holographs in his games.
• Pro-games and attends gaming conventions on the side both as part of business and pleasure. Could still probably kick your ass at most games, whether computer or board. Probably breathes gaming tbh.
• IS STILL KIND OF AN ASSHOLE. He knows that he’s a genius and he’s probably better than you so he’s still going to be a bit of an arrogant bastard, but he’s definitely more well-adjusted than he was in canon mostly because he didn’t have to go into survival mode and is a more decent human being.
• That said, he still has his ridiculously terrible one-track mind and work ethic wherein 3am days are considered early for him and he’s still not going to be very good at human interaction because he prefers to work on his own without distractions.

LOOKING FOR: Anything and everything, really! Kaiba’s not really good at making friends but he has people who he would probably call closer acquaintances than most, the kind of people who won’t get a rude message in return when they tell him to stop working and go out and pls eat. Other gamers? People who would recognise him? He has a fondness for theatrics and dramatics and loud flashy entrances at events and especially at events. People that he can’t stand – Seto has a low tolerance for bullshit and has a short temper, so if you anger him while he’s in one of his moods he’s going to hold a grudge against you for Life and maybe longer. Crimson Crest neighbours? People that see him volunteering around the Orphanage? Seto still has a soft spot for orphans but will not tell anyone that he was one.

She had a best friend in primary school, but they moved out and Riko lost contact with them. Since then, she hasn't made any friends.
One of her teachers in secondary school made her take part in a speech competition, but on the day of the contest, she was so stressed, made a mistake and then fainted.
She's taking part in a six months exchange program between her high school in Tokyo and Recollé and has just arrived in the city. Since it's a home stay, she's gonna live with Yoshiko Tsushima and her family.
Secretly, she's drawing doujinshi and would like to draw her own manga one day. Her alias is Lily and not even her family knows about this. Her first doujinshi involved a very popular mystery series and gained national recognition.
Leaving her home was a tough decision to make, but she wanted to do something entirely different to gain new experiences which would help her grow as an artist. Before leaving for Recollé, she let her fans know that she won't be making any public appearances for a while, but she's going to continue drawing.
That said, she likes detective stories a lot. She also has a knack for finding lost things. Could these two be connected...?

Some years ago, there was either one particular student or a small study group of six that he took a liking to. Ended up mentoring them a lot, working together. The student(s) took a big interest in his primary research project at the moment, something pretty groundbreaking that was going to launch a lot of other research for him
Right as the research was about to be completed, the student(s) stole the work and covered his tracks pretty thoroughly.
What the student(s) wanted/used it for I don't know it probably had some unethical/illicit uses though. One of those double-edged sword type deals. Probably would be up to them, should they ever app.
Afterwards he became a very, very bitter old man. He still did some research but with the cornerstone of his primary focus gone all of his plans for the future were kind of uprooted. He ended up kind of stewing and secluding himself a lot.
Still is stewing, though here at least he's not following up on the massive revenge scheme, partially because his former student is unable to be found.
So basically think DiZ without the massive revenge boner. And slightly less fantasy racism.
Hobbies are debating/philosophy and gardening. He still enjoys them both but the latter is easier these days

And maybe drink a lot of wine after work.

Ranmaru was born in Kyoto and has lived there for his whole life with his parents who own a small tea shop.
His parents value traditional arts the most and so does Ranmaru. Apart from the Japanese tea ceremony, he's also practicing calligraphy and kendo. He has tried archery and art of flower arrangements.
On the other hand, he's rather unfamiliar with modern culture i.e. games, anime, dramas, movies, etc.
It was a difficult decision, but Ranmaru's parents decided to open a tea shop in Recollé and asked their son to look after it. Ranmaru had no objections, though.
He's rather obedient to his parents, but this is to change once he starts living alone in a faraway city and discovering new things.
The tea shop name is simply "Nihoncha" (Japanese Teas) and both its exterior and interior have that traditional look. Ranmaru is living on the first floor.
After some time, he's going to realize that he'd like to enroll at the Recollé University, probably.
Gets lost all the time. All. The. Time.
