hello! i have another person from the orphanage who is also taking karate, maybe tatsuo can be cleo's instructor? if they would have known each other from the orphanage, especially! cleo is a lot younger than him but been there forever so i think they would have known each other maybe?

Tatsuo would have been the dorky older brother at the orphanage and would have aged out when Cleo was about seven. So she can totally remember him if you want! I'm thinking he would drop by for Christmas to give the kids presents even after leaving. And yes, come study at the dojo with him!

that works! she probably would know him more as the weird guy who brought presents around and been very surprised when weirdo Santa was her karate teacher.

hahaha and then Santa dumps you on your butt

cleo is unfortunately very prideful so she would keep challenging him until she can win tbh. gotta be The Best if she's gonna do something!!

also i'm not saying she accidentally called him santa to his face once but she 100% absolutely did.

Actually, I'm quite amused how similar their au backstories are, but how different their personalities are. Cleo's personality is more similar to his canon partner, and she finds him utterly exasperating at times.

Like, Cleo is all JUSTICE! And I feel like Tatsuo just kind of fell into law enforcement. Waffled around his first couple years of college before someone went "hey you're really good at science, check this out!" or happened to watch some clip on youtube about crime scene investigators and thought "that looks cool."

i don't know his canon but that's amazing, i'm laughing. her justice kick is actually only going to get stronger once she gets regains back, since she's actually literally a knight. (and once she gets back claws and shit she's going to be very sad about not being able to really continue karate like that, but still.)

but yes she's going to find him utterly exasperating and possibly accuse him of taking law enforcement too lightly if that comes up... she is just full of passion about JUSTICE and doing the right thing. she pretends to be cool but she's secretly a hotblood.

If you like jdramas, I highly suggest the drama. It's got Ikuta Toma and Oguri Shun who play these two guys who witness the murder of their mom-figure and vow revenge. One goes into the police, the other into the yakuza. The manga has the same plot, but you could almost consider the first 70 chapters filler. And it's way seinen. The drama cleans things up a looooot.

LOL yes the lack of passion is def going to be a thing. Without his canon REVENGE driving him, he's more the sort to just kind of float along I think. Like, he'll be serious about doing his job properly, but there is no burning sense of justice in this guy. At least at first. He might quietly develop one when he starts getting memories back. He gets emotionally drawn into investigations a lot in canon.

How big of claws are we talking? Sure, they'd make clenching a fist hard, but there's always open handed techniques and weapons still!

I'm more into toku than dramas but I do enjoy some! i watched liar game's drama a while ago (shamelessly, because i am extremely gay for toda erika), so maybe i'll give this one a shot too.

here is the best example i can get for her claws! you can see the size of a normal hand under the claw, and yeah. she's got huge monster claws. (with pads on the palm and toe beans on the fingertips, because she's a catlady, so it's kind of cute.)

Oooo Liars Game, I recently added that to my watch list. I need to stop being lazy and get caught up on all my shows so I can start new ones.

Ahhh, yes I see why those would be troublesome. Well, that will pose an interesting challenge for Tatsuo as a teacher.
