Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. AU NAME: second verse same as the first
AU AGE: 22
AU OCCUPATION: paranormal blogger and amateur ghost investigator, but also graveyard shift at one of those 24 hour drugstores.
BLURB:
• born into a family that takes care of a shrine in japan, was being raised and trained to be part of that.
• however over a series of years there was a string of incidents of people having horribly bad luck after seeing him or being blessed by him, and with no common factor but himself he began to see himself as the curse that was afflicting them as the amount added up. when finally a mother and child came to be blessed for the future, he did it but ended up convincing himself he screwed the kid up for life and didn't want to see the results.
• his escape came in moving to recolle to help take care of his disabled aunt - ostensibly to help her and to grow his own independence, but also in large part influenced by how he doesn't feel worthy to work as he does. of course, he's also in his 20s and stupid, so the truth of that doesn't matter.
• anyway he runs a paranormal blog (blog being half legends and half documenting his explorations, contact him if you have something you want him to look into), and he works graveyard shift at some place to make actual money. possibly taking online community college courses as well.
• has heavy sleeping issues and so is often up at ridiculous hours - hence the need for work and school to accommodate.
• social even though he's still kinda weird and honestly ready to get into disastrous ideas because he's ready to say yes to bad suggestions.
• perpetually smiling, all the time, every day.
• internally aware that having no solution to his problems is bad but trying to avoid both that and crushingly low self esteem from seeing himself as bad luck.
• been in recolle anywhere from one to three years.
• and because it bears mentioning, instead of his canon hair and eyes, his hair is black and his eyes are one dark brown, one natural green. his hair covers the green one, but it's equally long.
• so much of this au is still open to being worked on though, i'm keeping my mind open about this.

LOOKING FOR: anything and everything! friends, people who've seen him at work, people to vaguely wonder why this weirdo's going out in the dead of night, internet chatting types, even people who've got some degree of family! i'm open to see how it could work.

i feel extremely strongly that 1) mista should be fascinated by and also terrified by nikkari's blog and 2) he should drag nik out to do stupid shit when he's sad and can't sleep

i'm so tired so idk how they wouldve met initially but i want this

if he was out in the middle of the night nikkari would have totally been like "oh it's someone alive..." and then struck up conversation from there and abandoned that day's ghost hunt

he's always welcome to drag him out he's probably awake anyway

nikkari you need to learn to focus.

anyways yes that sounds good! mista def has had like, odd hours because of all the different jobs he's held. it's not like he wants to get up in the early morning anyway so he might as well work late tbh.

you know i'm here for this... basically nikkari can come crash on kashuus couch whenever but also like drag him out ghost hunting at 3am and make him regret having such weird friends

IT'S FINE kashuu knows both of these feelings well, this is why nikkari is always welcome to crash and use his shoebox apartment as a spooky blogging base when he's lonely

shuji is absolutely a frequent commenter on nikkari's blog

probably one of the more interesting ones since he's well-read but also totally willing to believe that ghosts from the Mirror-America Great Molasses Flood might be responsible for declining molasses sales

you realize nika will be encouraging him to talk about it and asking for all the details

tell him what you know, haunt up his blog

okay so a dip in molasses sales after that flood makes sense but then it just kept going, and there's a frequent dip during the month that flood happened too, it just might be vengeful spirits-

let's make this happen

this dude has totally wandered in to nikkari's store all dead-eyed and crying inside to grab some shitty coffee at 3am while cramming or writing papers just letting you know

nikkari slowly asks if he's ok and then puts like a bread or something in the pile because dude you have to eat....do you want a tissue....

okay, so. yuuko is here, slowly regaining her ghostly powers. if nikkari wants to stumble upon this one day...

also she thinks ghosts aren't real so.

that'd be great! at a point i intend for him to regain his more spiritual senses to detect ghosts and such so it'd be interesting if he started pinging off of her
