- Lived a highly regimented and supervised lifestyle before Recolle, so she's been basking in the relative freedom she has while she's staying with her relatives. Not being chaperoned constantly means she indulges her curiosity way more often, which will most likely get her into trouble.
- Polite, cultured, and probably gives off an air of being really high brow and upper class...
- ...But also something of a space cadet and frankly just plain eccentric. She's prone to being absent-minded and it's easy to tell she's rather sheltered.
- Doesn't go out of the way to socialise a whole lot, but is generally easy to get along. Really hard to anger.
- Likes to paint and genuinely enjoys flower arrangement, which is one reason why she's working at the florist shop. Prefers still-life painting and natural subjects.
- Adores cute things. Also finds many creepy things adorable. She enjoys things like ghost stories, occult stuff and morbid imagery, and thinks it's all entertaining in good fun.
- Probably started dabbling in indulging her fashion taste on the weekends, like wearing lolita clothes or taisho roman outfits. See: basking in her current relative freedom.
- Has complicated feelings about her parents and the expectations placed on her, which is to say, she doesn't really hate or resent them, but she is also increasingly unhappy with the railroading and the looming omiai that they will probably want for her in the near future.

Alright so in canon Ivan was adopted by a wealthy couple (to fulfill an Oddly Specific Prophecy) so he grew up with no clue about his origins despite being a literal mind reader. So he basically wanted for nothing his whole childhood, grew up with superpowers, and ultimately went on to help saaaaave the woooorld.
But in the absence of any such prophecy or superpowers, Ian has grown up with his birth parents... who, in AU-verse, are super poor and live in a trailer park. (This is not really a secret, a lot of his schoolmates know about it, but he doesn't like to talk about it and never invites people over.)
Home situation is in part because his dad is very schizophrenic. His mom works way too many jobs trying to make ends meet. So Ian basically runs their household. This part is kind of a secret, in that he actively avoids the topic and lies about it if cornered. EVERYTHING'S FINE DON'T WORRY...
He skipped 3rd grade, so he's now a very smol junior in high school. So I guess he'll be 16 and a senior in the fall.
By smol I mean smol, he is five foot nothin' and he's not having a growth spurt anytime soon.
Seems like kind of a loner - he's the kid who's always doing homework at lunch, and so rarely has time to hang out that most kids have stopped asking.
But yeah he's SUPER polite and helpful. And self-sacrificing to a fault. Like, this is the kid who, if he sleeps over at your house, will get up early and wash the dishes even though you explicitly told him not to. He does not want to be a burden or inconvenience you...!!!!!
Also kind of sneaky??? Not just in the sense of "moves very quietly" (although that is also true), but in that he will totally lie and/or cheat if he can convince himself it's justified. He doesn't generally cheat in school, cause his mom would kill him, but if for instance he suddenly developed the ability to read minds I'm not sayin' he wouldn't use it for illicit purposes. Just to check his answers, he swears.
He doesn't have a lot of hobbies atm so he'll probably be open to learning just about anything (once he realizes it is ok to have his own life haha...) Maybe he builds model planes sometimes?

(Little does she know that he staged the whole thing in an elaborate ploy.) She is only aware that she must be secreted out of her homeland due to the incident that happened to her as a child, and that it is common for traumatic moments to become fuzzy after the fact, which is what happened to her. It would have happened over 10 years ago, after all, so right now her biggest challenge is convincing other people that at 16 she can possibly do more than they expect of her. She would retain some slightly enhanced sensation in her hands (in canon she has a kind of lie detection power), thus her favorite hobbies include things you can do while sitting at a table: papercrafts, needlecrafts, and the like. She knows Braille and would be an avid listener of audiobooks.

▶ japanese cool cat. lives by himself with his parents sending him money on a monthly basis. it's obviously not enough to sustain his wide array of hobbies, but he's learning to deal with money like a responsible adult slowly, but surely. a pretty chill guy that goes with the flow of life.

▶ just like in canon, he's got a pretty nifty natural ability to befriend people. hasn't been around for long, but made a lot of acquaintances and gets his extra money through jobs they find or offer him when they need a new guy. hibiki is willing to dip his toe in most waters at least once so his experiences in new workplaces are mostly good, but he's always job-hopping when a better opportunity arises or going on short pauses when he saves enough.

▶ also just like in canon he's pretty unsure about the future. choosing his history major was more of an impulsive decision than the start of a long term life goal. he's enjoying it so far, but sometimes feels it's not exactly what he wants.

▶ hibiki is knowledgeable and well-read, but not exactly a model student. he's one of those people that perform perfectly on subjects that they like, but settle for average on what they don't like. things that he doesn't understand are what he's interested the most, though, so he's one of the few people in the world that enjoy reading about mathematics for fun. weirder and more obscure subjects are also high on his list, like eschatology, ufology, cryptozoology, conspiracy theories, etc.

▶ weird things, alright. hibiki can be a little... eccentric. from his favorite bunny-hooded jacket to his always present willingness to joke around. he knows his limits, but tends to play with them for laughs when the situation calls for it. his sense of humor is his greatest strength.

▶ thinking about running an ic blog thing with my homeboy daichi to talk about weird things happening around, like a tame nicaea. that's just a very prototypal idea, however.

▶ since there's no impending apocalyptic doom this time around, hibiki is less of a heroic leader and more of a serial chiller. calm, observant and passive, a pretty okay kid that tries to avoid trouble. the only demons he tames and/or slays are those in the games he plays. i'm probably giving him a mischievous white cat named byakko.

▶ main hobbies? photography, stargazing, listening to music, talking to strangers and gaming. he's very open, though!

- Though classical is her genre of choice, she's very, very fond of pop music. She tends to go on morning runs, and one can hear her humming to the tunes very easily. And...occasionally singing along...
- Sayaka's not really blitzing through school, but her classes are very morning-biased due to her part-time job.
- Lives on campus, but if she has a chance to be off for a while, she gladly will. Usually just going around the city and checking out shops! ...and bringing home a bunch of cute knick-knacks with her to decorate her room.

Never bothering to try to understand Terra, a rift formed between them around the time Terra was twelve, and progressed to the point that Terra's Father was constantly mocking, insulting, and degrading Terra when Terra, try as he might, was never able to get grades up to his Father's standards.
- Not wanting to go home anymore, Terra fell into a bad crowd of kids at his high school, and started to feel at home with them. Over time, he became more and more involved with things like beating up other students, shoplifting, vandalism, and at worst, a couple of stabbing incidents.
- Eventually his conscience gets the better of him and he cuts off his punk friends around when he gets into college, absolutely riddled with guilt and looking for any way to make up for the things he allowed to happen right in front of him, he mends his relationship with his Father enough to the point that he agrees to help pay Terra through school.
- Still angsty and guilt ridden, Terra finds himself invited to some volunteering events by Minako and finally finds something that makes him feel a bit better about himself. This is where most of his time and attention gets devoted to!
- Occupies a part time job in a bar, hired for the fact that he's an intimidating guy who can put a stop to the nonsense if need be.

☆Mao is a junior in high school who never really learned how to relax so he's involved in as many activities as he can manage. He's not looking to pad his resume or anything, he just has a chronic inability to say no. In his canon this means he's the treasurer for the student council, the vice president of the basketball club, and a member of a busy idol unit called Trickstar who are trying to overthrow the student government Mao is also a part of (enstars is weird). Obviously here I'm open to other variations on this but I do want him to stay involved in school government in some way. Otherwise, though, are you looking for more members for your ic club? Mao might be just the kid for you.

☆Being involved in so many different things means Mao often finds himself managing conflicts between them as for as much as he'll complain about it, negotiating situations like this is one of his specialties. He doesn't like conflict or things that put him as the center of attention, but if you need someone to help you sort something out, just look for Mao. He enjoys helping people--it's at the heart of that not-able-to-say-no thing. If you asked him, he'd described his leadership style as somewhat involuntary and largely by example rather than because he demands people follow him.

☆He's lived in Recolle all his life, though his family are Japanese. His home life is unremarkable. They're middle class so Mao doesn't want for things but he's also not throwing money around. In canon he has a little sister but here he'll either be an only child or have a sibling here in the game since that is a thing I am 110% open to.

☆His hobbies are pretty tame. He enjoys reading and usually has a book or comic handy for any downtime he might have, and he likes video games well enough but doesn't have a lot of time to play. TV and movies are on his radar but he tends to fall asleep as soon as he sits down to watch them. He plays guitar and enjoys it, and is pretty good at it, but he's shy about showing it to people. Part of him thinks it might be fun to be in a band someday but he doesn't expect it to happen so you won't catch him hanging out in music rooms at school (unless you drag him there)(please drag him there).

☆Mao in a nutshell: A Good Kid. Less good kids who befriend him will find themselves nagged, probably ineffectually, but he's the kind of kid teachers will enjoy having in class. He's the one they leave in charge when they have to go take a phone call but rather than being bossy about it, he just keeps people from setting the room on fire and calls it good. Just don't come crying to him when you get busted because you didn't do the worksheet, dude, he told you and he did his.

He's doing the father-deemed-necessary business focused classes also, like Law, of course, but he still keeps taking more work on that interests him. If anyone cares to notice, he has a strong interest in the history of games, actually.
▼ His dad used to live in Recolle but moved out of the country to start his business. Atem's mother is from Egypt. Since his family's Rich^(TM), he's traveled a lot! They summer vacationed in Recolle most years, but he's moved here to study since this is where his father studied, too. Yugi. Snapchat is close friends only and he will be cross if you give it to the paparazzi or something, though probably not enough to actually scold you? Atem.

▼ Friends, of course! If you'd like to have known Atem from a summer he vacationed in town, that's doable. He's a friendly enough guy, if kind of awkward. He takes a little nudging with friendship because he can lose track of time. On the other hand, college buddies are great; some ideas I have are that Atem's the Designated Driver friend. He doesn't drink but he goes with his friends when they do to make sure they get home safe. He speaks a few languages thanks to traveling a bunch, so if your character wants someone they can chat to in their first language or practice with, Atem could help. He speaks English, Arabic, French, Spanish, uhh. Maybe some Chinese and/or Japanese? He lived in the dorms for a short period until he moved out to the apartment he shares with a butler or nanny, so ex-roomies is up for grabs, maybe? Shoot something at me and I'll make it work.
▼ Online pals that he eventually can meet offline or people who know his ~secret identity. Atem keeps his online persona and real life completely separate. I'd prefer to keep those things separate for as long as possible in game, or kept on the dl. Since he's in Recolle for the Family Business, he wants to keep his hobbies separate and not let his family know too much about his interests. Atem's pretty eclectic in things he might read or keep up with, but he's also a surprisingly friendly person despite his bizarre appearance, so if your character would have interacted with him once, he might have remembered him!

Robotics...i can’t figure it out yet, wants to get a doctorate, probably also wants to work in the national park service or smth...but she’s a wanderer at heart and is (very) bright but hasn’t settled down yet. As for an actual job-job...I like the idea of her tinkering with machines, lol. Maybe she can work at someone’s auto shop. Barring that, does volunteer park work, primarily summer camp stuff.
BLURB: In canon, Aloy is from a post-post apocalyptic world, largely overtaken by nature, where machines are the apex predators and humans live on in primitive tribes. She was an outcast at birth, raised by a fellow outcast and surrogate father/father figure, Rost. She comes to discover that her actual lineage is a lot more complex and meaningful than she first believed, and is granted the title of Seeker by her tribe, thus allowing her to go out into the world and discover all of its secrets! And kill a lot of machines in super cool ways.

Although Aloy is from a pretty under-advanced society, she’s a fast learner, pragmatic, driven and brave. Also, for someone who was raised largely on the outskirts of her society, she’s surprisingly well-adjusted and thoughtful, thanks to Rost. An AU Aloy would first and foremost be socialized a bit more! So while she’s still blunt and to the point, she’s a little less “cut to the chase” than she is in canon, more easygoing, and some of her wanderlust is tempered by the practicality of a modern day world. She’s not especially extroverted, but has had a circle of friends throughout her life (some have rotated out and some haven’t) and is less isolated than she was in canon. Her intelligence and ingenuity I would like to gear toward a drive to making a positive change in the world, thus leading her to the field she’s studying. Aloy in canon has to grow into this role, but Alison will have been nurtured in an environment that would drive her to want to do it on her own. Part of this is because she has heard stories about her mother since she was a kid (who passed away shortly after her birth) and is inspired to emulate her. I’m not going to go too heavy on detail here because I’m trying not to spoil everything lmao. Her dad is actually not her birth father, he’s a family friend who adopted her at her mother’s death. Or at least that’s the story I’m going with. She was raised in Recolle but went away to school in Colorado Springs. Since she’s gone away to college, they communicate mostly via phone calls (he’s old fashioned and snail mails her sometimes too.) He’s currently having a long trip with a group of buddies across the U.S. (They’re visiting national parks), and Alison has transferred to a school in Recolle to continue her studies. Also she got a hookup on a job, idk.

She’s really athletic (was in archery class in high school and hikes now.) Worked at a ranch for a spell in her senior year. Probably was kind of a smart ass all through high school, also was a bit more rebellious in general. She can and has hotwired a car (it was her dad’s car, she got in a lot of trouble.)

But let's talk about everything that happened prior to that (cw: physical/emotional abuse, forced drug use, gang involvement, murder, vehicular slaughter, death, depression, and attempted suicide)...

He's the fraternal twin brother of Minako Arisato, as well as a recovering drug addict (the drugs were forced on him, but that doesn't change how addiction works).

After he and his sisters' parents were killed in a car accident, they were split up. The aunt (Sae) he went to live with was really nice, but there was always some kind of tension between the two of them. It was clear she was hiding something, but he couldn't figure out what it was... until he met her boyfriend (Takashi).

As it turned out, the guy was a total scumbag who was physically and emotionally abusive. While Minato did try to step in a number of times, it became clear that doing that was only going to make things increasingly worse. It didn't help that his aunt was always quick to defend Takashi and beg her nephew to just go to his room. Minato still comforted her and even tried encouraging her to move away and cut ties with the man, only to learn just why she was absolutely terrified to go against him. Sae's boyfriend was the leader of the largest gang in that city -- there was no going against him without a very thorough plan.

Eventually, the abuse reached a point where Minato had to call an ambulance for Sae (who had purposefully overdosed on pills)... which resulted in Takashi coming after him.

While Sae was recovering, Minato was snatched by some of Takashi's goons. They dragged him into a warehouse where he was beaten and tied down. They injected something into his arm, ignoring his struggles and protests. The next several days involved them keeping him doped up with something that made him feel... stronger, feel angrier, and act way more violent than he'd ever been. Eventually, he was knocked out; he woke up an unknown amount of time later, mouth and throat feeling like sandpaper and head throbbing. His entire body was sore and he was actually alone. The note lying next to his head said: "That's just the start if you don't keep your head down and your mouth shut."

Which he didn't do. The police found him and questioned him, and he was taken to a hospital. Fortunately, they were on his side and he was seen through a detox. Unfortunately, the drug he'd been injected with was highly addictive, so his stay in the hospital was kind of a personal hell. After it was all over, he learned that his aunt had fled the hospital, only to have been killed in a hit-and-run accident. After that, some detectives came into his room and explained that he was going to be put into hiding. They wanted his help in locating the late Sae's boyfriend.

By that time next month, he found himself living in a different country altogether, under the name of Yuki Kurusu.

The first year of living in America wasn't easy -- he had a guardian looking after him, but they were strangers and he purposefully kept himself distanced from them, refusing to let them into his world beyond the basics/necessities. He went to school and kept himself buried in studying and playing computer games in his spare time. Music became a source of comfort and he was never seen without earphones.

He was in the middle of preparing for the graduation ceremony, when he decided to take a break and go get some coffee. He was standing outside of a small coffee shop while staring down at his phone, deciding which song to listen to, something within his peripheral vision caught his attention. He had just enough time to realize what it was and start moving. An injured dog was attempting to cross the street, and a car was coming at a fairly fast pace. Yuki rushed forward and moved without actually thinking anything through. He attempted to pick the dog up but his quick movements apparently scared the animal, which wound up trying to fight him. All he was able to accomplish was becoming a sort of meat shield...

It was in the moment of impact, everything just went black.

Now, three years later, Yuki is only able to recall having been outside of La-La-Latte just before trying to save that dog (which apparently was taken to an animal shelter and then adopted -- yay, happy ending!). All his other memories are fuzzy/gone. He still lives with the guardians, and the program has decided to let him remain with that family until his memories recover, even though they've found and detained the gang leader. Yuki decided to start working for the coffee shop, in hopes that constantly being in that area will help him recover his lost memories.
LOOKING FOR: Holy shit, give me ANYTHING; co-workers, hospital employees who would have seen him through recovery after the car swiped him memories, dog owner, etc...!!!

Originally from Iceland, moved to Recolle with some relatives when he was younger just to Expand His Horizons (and because his dad was Too Busy and dealing with some things); see the above-mentioned restlessness. Smart child, did well in school - he admittedly never really had a close close group of friends due to his tendency to fuck off and do his own things that never quite interested anyone that stuck around. He's nice enough, though, and he has a fair share of acquaintances.
☁ In terms of personality, as above: quite nice, loyal, if not a bit (a lot) fond of dry humor and sarcasm. A pretty stubborn guy, surprisingly, and more on the HTTYD side of awkward than HTTYD2 side due to his lack of holy-shit-i-rode-a-dragon epiphany. Again, nice enough, nicer to get to know if you can get past his why are you like this exterior.

☁ Also the guy who watches cat livestreams while doing his work. Hell, he's probably even set one up for his own cat out of boredom one day. do you want to see pictures of his cat
☁ And yeah, he proudly (ironically) calls himself Hiccup.

LOOKING FOR: Fellow students who he's a bit closer with? Casual friends? Unfortunate victims of his robot-that-sets-shitty-tweets-on-fire-automatically (i can't believe someone actually made this) etc?? People who saw him around doing his I'm Looking For My Destiny club ditching, I don't even know. I'm up for basically anything!
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: i'm also thinking of maybe leo tsukinaga from enstars instead who is basically going to be about hiccup's level of weird but in the music way rather than the why do you need to handle every situation like this (with a robot) way
