Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. CHARACTER: Kouran
CANON: Original. She's from a setting where a Japanese town happens to have a series of seals keeping horrific monsters from running loose into the world. Said seals also happen to be breaking, because the town is growing into a city. Kouran is a seasonal god (winter and spring) and one of the town's guardian deities, and a ~~terrible~~ mentor to a bunch of kids + one college student who have gained powers and are pretty much the only hope the town has if they don't want to be overrun by monsters. The problem is half of them are some kind of asshat.

AU NAME: Kouran Yamazaki
AU AGE: 15-16
AU OCCUPATION: Student, part-timer at a florist shop
BLURB:
- Born in Japan, has lived most of her life in Kyoto.
- Family owns a huge construction firm and is pretty rich.
- Parents are traditionalists and a little overprotective over her, so she's been raised to be a Good Proper Lady from a young age. Largely home-schooled and taught traditional Japanese arts such as calligraphy, tea ceremony, flower arrangement etc.
- They also have business ties to the yakuza, which has lead to a huge scandal involving fraud and blackmail around 7 months or so ago.
- She's been sent to Recolle to live with relatives and lay low until the fallout from above scandal cools off. She's been in Recolle for about 7 months.
- Lived a highly regimented and supervised lifestyle before Recolle, so she's been basking in the relative freedom she has while she's staying with her relatives. Not being chaperoned constantly means she indulges her curiosity way more often, which will most likely get her into trouble.
- Polite, cultured, and probably gives off an air of being really high brow and upper class...
- ...But also something of a space cadet and frankly just plain eccentric. She's prone to being absent-minded and it's easy to tell she's rather sheltered.
- Doesn't go out of the way to socialise a whole lot, but is generally easy to get along. Really hard to anger.
- Likes to paint and genuinely enjoys flower arrangement, which is one reason why she's working at the florist shop. Prefers still-life painting and natural subjects.
- Adores cute things. Also finds many creepy things adorable. She enjoys things like ghost stories, occult stuff and morbid imagery, and thinks it's all entertaining in good fun.
- Probably started dabbling in indulging her fashion taste on the weekends, like wearing lolita clothes or taisho roman outfits. See: basking in her current relative freedom.
- Has complicated feelings about her parents and the expectations placed on her, which is to say, she doesn't really hate or resent them, but she is also increasingly unhappy with the railroading and the looming omiai that they will probably want for her in the near future.

LOOKING FOR:
- PCs to be her relatives! Alternatively, my dream is to have PCs as one or two of her older siblings who may or may not have flipped off the familial obligations.
- Friends! Classmates at high school! Please befriend this weirdo art student. People she might have met at the florist shop also count. She hasn't had many friends growing up so it'd be nice for her to actually make some here.
- Good influences! Bad influences! She's a sheltered kid so she's kind of impressionable.
- Really I'm game for anything, a lot of background details are flexible to accomodate whatever.

The one thing she actually had experience about it inform her that it's Bad.

MOST LIKELY WON'T. He's not broadcasting it.

He's still friendly enough. Despite. . . all the glaring problems with him rn.

He already figures they're massively disappointed with him, okay. THAT'S WHY HE'S HERE. He's gonna hold onto this even tho it's wrong for a little while.

BUT LOOK they can adore cats together or hang out at the coffee shop or maybe she can help him with his homework in secret.

That'd mean some Halloween event would be a good candidate for how they met, but was Kouran in town at the time?

She's been in Recolle for about 7 months, so she would have been around just in time for Halloween, yeah! And would have been in awe at how Halloween is apparently a big deal here vs in Japan.

Oh yes! Haunted houses everywhere! Maybe they end up in the same haunted-house group by chance and Ami's like "oh you're gonna love it, i've been to this one like six times ~~in the past 4 days~~"

(which might be why she's there by herself, cause her friends are sick of it lmao)

I REALLY like the sound of her canon setting, that's like. Aesthetic™, holy crap.

So between that and like, her being pretty hard to anger + being in the right age range, she and Koushuu could be possible classmates/at the very least schoolmates. He needs someone to balance out his temper. ... many someones, tbh. But if they became friends he'd get protective of her sheltered lil self, if be a little tsun about it.

it's 'a bunch of teenagers + a college student are magical girls (and one magical boy and one phantom thief) have to save the town while dealing with their mundane problems'. With Kouran and her brother having to whip them into shape. Success varies.

I'd be happy to try and get them to be friends, and if nothing else she'd be pretty chill even though he's pretty grumpy himself. Even when you're losing your temper she's gonna be chill,,,

I love it. It's like, a whole slew of things that are all things I love independently, why not put them together. A+++

She seems a lot like the type that he'd be pretty chill around regularly, tbh. Maybe not 100% decrease in Fighty Wolf Syndrome but he'd at least be a default mellow.

She's also a weirdo I'm sorry Koushuu

She'll be coming next round since I have been enabled into giving Yukine a family, but I look forward to shenanigans!!!

Considering Koushuu somehow became best friends Yukine in the like five seconds it took kimmeh and I to scream at each other.

I'm ready for this, too.

TBH...they may be classmates but shiro here wants to learn ikebana, secretly! maybe he's visited the flower shop a couple of times, trying to be all inconspicuous but kouran would recognize him

she would have recognised him, yeah! and innocently ask him what he's looking for. if she finds out he wants to learn ikebana she can offer to teach (and a bunch of other traditional arts if he'd like)

also regains means she's going to eventually be fond of pretty much every ice person in Recolle to some extent, so let's friendship shiro

mafuyu is 16 and could be in the same class! she was born in recollé but isn't the best influence, so i hesitate on offering relatives; her parents are well-meaning but somewhat uninvolved and so mafuyu turned out to be a punk and kouran's parents probably wouldn't have sent her to this sort of family haha... i would love them to be/become friends regardless though! :3c

They can be friends!!! She'd be kind of confused at all this messing around outside of school though, she was under the impression school is actually kind of important???

\o/!!! Look, there's important stuff outside of school that you can't learn sitting in a classroom. Like the thrill of cutting class and playing arcade games in the middle of the day and... yeah she's just fooling around outside. She just wants to spend her life having fun, why school :''(

WUOH!! traditional parents from japan, unite...! makoto's in that same pickle, so to speak. it might be an idea to have makoto's parents recognise the family name from the news (also,, if i may, the yamazaki last name might be something that could tie her to sousuke, as cousins or the relatives she's spending time with? he's somewhere in the workshop...!), but also the whole being japanese might have spurred makoto into friending her one way or the other

seeing how.. makoto's family...owns a japanese-style bookshop with most literature from japan, so it might as well just have attracted kouran into walking in

PLEASE FRIEND HER MAKOTO she's a weirdo sheltered girl in a foreign country. she definitely would have wondered in the bookstore looking for books because she misses reading things in Japanese. you're free to have his parents recognise her family name too!
