AU OCCUPATION: Student and Part-time Pain-In-The-Ass somewhere
BLURB:

☁ Engineering student with a penchant of making Inventions To Try To Make Life Easier that end up either backfiring, being totally overkill, or working wonderfully. Aka he's the living embodiment of both r/shittyrobots and r/awesomerobots.
☁ Despite his obvious enjoyment in the above (and in his studies), there's also a part of him that doesn't feel very fulfilled doing what he's doing. Yeah, he does his work, and yes he makes sure not to slack off (too much)... but it still does seem like he's very much going through the motions with everything.
☁ As a result of him trying to find something that SPEAKS TO HIM!!, he tends to take a lot of random courses or try out a few random clubs. Probably quit after like the first day after he found out they weren't for him, but. He Tried.
☁ On to the more background stuff... Originally from Iceland, moved to Recolle with some relatives when he was younger just to Expand His Horizons (and because his dad was Too Busy and dealing with some things); see the above-mentioned restlessness. Smart child, did well in school - he admittedly never really had a close close group of friends due to his tendency to fuck off and do his own things that never quite interested anyone that stuck around. He's nice enough, though, and he has a fair share of acquaintances.
☁ In terms of personality, as above: quite nice, loyal, if not a bit (a lot) fond of dry humor and sarcasm. A pretty stubborn guy, surprisingly, and more on the HTTYD side of awkward than HTTYD2 side due to his lack of holy-shit-i-rode-a-dragon epiphany. Again, nice enough, nicer to get to know if you can get past his why are you like this exterior.
☁ He'll make you a robot that helps you toast shit in the morning and get it to you so you don't have to get out of bed what do you mean you didn't need this shit
☁ Yes, that same robot probably hit you in the head with that toast when you were out walking minding your own business. Yeah, he apologized. Yeah, it probably happened again because you can't stop his mind
☁ Also the guy who watches cat livestreams while doing his work. Hell, he's probably even set one up for his own cat out of boredom one day. do you want to see pictures of his cat
☁ And yeah, he proudly (ironically) calls himself Hiccup.

LOOKING FOR: Fellow students who he's a bit closer with? Casual friends? Unfortunate victims of his robot-that-sets-shitty-tweets-on-fire-automatically (i can't believe someone actually made this) etc?? People who saw him around doing his I'm Looking For My Destiny club ditching, I don't even know. I'm up for basically anything!
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: i'm also thinking of maybe leo tsukinaga from enstars instead who is basically going to be about hiccup's level of weird but in the music way rather than the why do you need to handle every situation like this (with a robot) way

IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, PLEASE? I'm cracking up because Hiro's an engineering/robotics student (sophomore in college) and he's 15 and stupid and also look he has a bird. Max. Bird-Max. He invents things in his garage to stream on YouTube and has a friggin bird on his shoulder most of the time, if I don't get a chance for Hiro and Hiccup to be total morons and invent the most convoluted useless stuff together I will be so upset

Overall though I also like this AU for Hiccup so gj :|b

But yes. I need this. Inventor duo with a cat and bird on their shoulders, it's perfect and hopefully no one gets eaten. They can make stuff like this when people tell them to stop being so Extra. And then this, fire not included. Included. Maybe.

Hiccup's also 1000% subscribed to Hiro's Youtube channel so there's that too.

grips hands PLEASE GIVE ME FRIENDS? i love httyd so much even if i'm not actively playing from it any longer??? levy here is 19 and very sweet-if-tiny and super nerdy about languages and stuff. she's very patient with people being dry humor/sarcasm and can snark back sometimes even if she kind of goes with the flow of it. also if they could have met over stupid robot toast shenanigans or some other kind of robot nonsense that would be terrific because that sounds hilarious to me??? if you want?

HAHA levy can definitely be toast victim #1, i see absolutely nothing wrong with this. first meeting could've been that, which means every single time levy walked by hiccup testing his newest ~~disaster~~ invention would've been met with both a hello and putting his body in between her and his salad-tossing robot before it throws tomatoes at her or something. also the first time probably had an invite to free lunch or something because?? don't sue him please (also he feels bad)

he'd also be super interested in her language knowledge just because he likes Learning In General so he's probably asked her about some of that once in a while

she's been in recolle for five years now so they could have met sometime int here??? she would have accepted the free lunch and would talk nerdy shit with him and appreciate him saying hi and putting himself between her and tomatoes. and ask why all his inventions throw things tbh but

i think he and kirigiri would be really cute friends! she's studying forensics, so maybe he took an intro class or something? they could just be acquaintances for now, too! i'd love to have kirigiri possibly try out one of his robots at some point too. she's also love the cat livestreams tbh

god friends sounds 1000% good since she's into cat livestreams. forensics is def something hiccup at least dipped his feet into, so they could've met through that! study sessions during the time he was taking the class, maybe? and then afterwards he just kept in contact with her, which means inventions Just For Her are in the future... so she could test those!

and also pet his cat

perfect!!! and she'd love the inventions just for her even if she'll never admit it tbh. so she'll gladly test them!

GOD seeing an izumi and other enstars characters tempted me so bad... since i was going to app him last round then chickened out

if i don't do it this round i'll be looking at it next round for my second if i app a second, so...
