On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. AU OCCUPATION: High school student (junior year) and also a teenage private detective.
BLURB:

This is very much a work in progress and subject to potentially change, but:

♠ born and raised in Tokyo to a very famous magician that traveled around the world and a former actress mother
♠ at the age of seven, his father died "a mysterious death"; it was labelled as a stage accident
♠ five years later, Kaito - the brilliant mind that he is, finds out that his father's death was not an accident and goes and finds out that his father was in fact, Murdered and the police could not solve it so Kaito goes ahead and becomes a detective himself to solve said murder and essentially get Revenge for his dad's death
♠ it's because of said incident that he becomes really, really bitter towards the police, even though he's hailed as a prodigy detective because of the incident
♠ his mother, wanting to start over and get away from it all, decides to move out of Japan. hence why they end up in Recollé at the age of 14
♠ Kaito enrolls himself into the school, but he easily gets bored due to being Really Smart
♠ isn't in any clubs, but sometimes does volunteer work
♠ he also continues to attempt to do detective work and even advertises himself publicly, even if most of the cases he deals with are minor due to his age
♠ in high school, he's taking a lot of AP classes, things related to criminal justice, psychology, sociology in particular
♠ doesn't like talking about magicians or magic or doing magic at all, although he has a very, very bad habit of shuffling cards when he's thinking or bored; people might notice that he does shuffle like a magician, however
♠ during his off time, he can be often seen reading books in the library - you'll find him rather interested in both detective and thief fiction along with stuff related to criminal justice.

LOOKING FOR: Potential friends, classmates/schoolmates, those who might have known his father, those who might have asks for Kaito's services as a detective in the past, people who work for the police so he can be Bitter About Them, also negative CR aka villain types. I'm also interested in thieves in particular due to memories that Kaito would get down the line if I do app him, so there's that.

• Never really got close enough to any of his classmates to make real friends. Just had a lot of acquaintances. His younger sister is probably his best (only?) friend.


• Still undeclared in his major despite being in his second year of college because he has no idea what to do with his life


• Rean spends his free time picking up odd jobs around town, both paid and free. He's responsible for many, *many* kitten rescues as a result


• Comes from a pretty well-off family, but the money he gets from his odd jobs is the majority of his spending money. He feels like a burden on his family and doesn't want an allowance, even though they'd be willing to give it.


• Thinks swords are cool as heck. Definitely took kendo lessons at some point.


• He had a pretty severe goth phase in his mid-teens, and while he doesn't want to talk about that anymore, he still not-so-secretly thinks that stuff is cool. His sister won't let him go full weeb or full goth, so he winds up somewhere around emo hipster.


• Not-so-secretly obsessed with a magical girl anime that's way darker and more complex than it looks, okay


• Loves cats, but tends to be unwittingly a little rough with them so they don't like him so much. Also loves dogs. Please, just let him pet animals.

LOOKING FOR: It's a long shot, but I'd kill for someone to be his younger sister? More realistically, though: people he's shared gen-ed classes with or just general acquaintances. Rean's not a loner by any means, but he doesn't really hang out with people right now, either...

My lazy excuse for getting some pre-established CR with these two would be putting them in one or two BS general ed classes. She's still relatively new in town, so she would have attached herself to people who are a) personable, and b) have some functional knowledge of Recollé.

Failing all that, if he spends any time at the cat cafe, he's liable to see her around there. She lives in the dorms, so no pets yet :c

AU OCCUPATION: University student (software engineering)
BLURB:

❖ Kokichi was born and raised in a small American town as the older brother to Yuuki (sleepingknight), whom he's very close to, and to a relatively rich family. His family never had to worry about putting food on the table and their children had very comfortable lives.

❖ He's a really mischievous kid who constantly joking around and can never really give a straight answer to his true feelings or thoughts but that came as a result of being bullied when he was younger. When he was a child, he had a weaker personality that led to him being picked on and he quickly realized that in order to protect himself, he had to adopt a stronger persona where he can't show off any of his old weaknesses. He was pretty clumsy at it at first but got really good at faking it when he got older.

❖ When he was around 15 years old, Yuuki got extremely ill and had to be hospitalized for a period of time. Kokichi started to skip a lot of school at this point to visit and keep her company. He would often drop by with video games (their shared interest), treats, and all other sorts of things. This is the time period where he got especially good at faking his emotions.

❖ While Yuuki was in the hospital, Kokichi created an online guild called Vivarium specifically for her. Knowing that he wouldn't be able to keep her company all the time, he made this online group that she could interact and play video games with while he was gone. He also made it a special rule that all members had to wear masks (similar to these) so they could be anonymous from each other. This was due to Yuuki's shyer personality but also to hide his own emotions and any slip-ups he might have while visiting her in the hospital.

❖ Even as Yuuki got better and was discharged from the hospital, Kokichi continued to run and expand Vivarium as it has become something particularly special for him. The guild doesn't specifically centre itself around one game anymore and it has generally just become an online group where people can have fun interacting with one another. He occasionally streams video games with his sister while in their Vivarium masks and often does charity runs so they could donate the proceedings to any group that helps sick children.

❖ Although he missed a good chunk of school while Yuuki was hospitalized, Kokichi was able to catch up on his studies and eventually get accepted in Recolle University for software engineering. That meant he packed up and left his small town to move to Recolle, where he has been residing for the past ~two years.

❖ What has he been doing in these last couple of years? Honestly, just being a lil shit. Although he's tamer than his canon self, he still likes to pull a lot of practical jokes on people and do stupid thing that makes him the annoying friend that no one really likes, such as being that asshole who constantly calls/texts/snapchats/tweets people at 3am about things or to ask if they want to totally go to McDonald's with him. He's also the same lil shit who crashes on your couch, eats all of your snacks, and stays there even after you make 3928129 unsubtle hints for him to leave.

❖ Also, he has this terrible online shop that he runs with his sister where they just mail glitter to people. You know those annoying packages or letters where if you open them, you have a fuckton of glitter hitting you in the face and then making it a pain to clean out of your carpet floor? Yeah, he's the guy you wanna hit up if you want to send that shit to your worst enemies. He also carries glitter in his pockets at all times for this very purpose.

❖ Also also, he's 6'2" in this AU but only because I want him to be super tall and put all of his stuff on high shelves where Yuuki can't reach it but then regain back his 5'1" height so then he could go and completely run out of clothes to wear

LOOKING FOR:

❖ Friends! Whether they are from his childhood, university, anything is game. Honestly, just people who put up with his bullshit and somehow have the patience to keep him around.

❖ Online buddies! Which are pretty much friends but people who only know him by his online identity (he uses the ~edgy~ handle "Zero") and is either part of the guild or not. Honestly, just be his twitter pal where he posts shower thoughts to ("your future self is talking shit about you" "when snoop dogg's 60, he's going to be 420 in dogg years")

❖ I ran out of ideas but give me that good pre-game cr. Give me some negative CR too. I will literally hand someone $5 to go tell Kokichi to go fuck himself.

N/A but I won't be apping Kokichi until January! I am just currently trying to get my footing with his AU, which is why I am tossing him on the workshop an app round early.

He doesn't really do it much anymore/at all since Recolle life keeps him busy, but during high school before he moved to Recolle it probably could've been a thing!

AU OCCUPATION: Ballet Dancer at the local company in Recolle, he also has an apprenticeship at Recolle U as one of the assistants to the Dance Instructor there.
BLURB:
♔ Born a Frenchman, but adopted when he was two by a fairly well to do Japanese-American family that made their fortune in publishing and translation and they traveled often. Eventually, they settled in Recolle when he was ten and he pretty much considers it his home. They instilled in him a love of arts, particularly Ballet.
♔ Despite all this wealth and privilege, he's not really all that good in navigating social media and prefer's to keep his privacy. So he depends on his friends to run all of his accounts. For good and for bad, and for the lolz.
♔ He cannot speak or write one word of his native French but is bilingual in both English and Japanese.
♔ Has been the muse of a popular music artist that have put him dancing in their music video. This has led to some opportunities in modeling and other jobs, but he is fairly serious about his craft and is picky about where he appears.
♔ He plans to replace the instructor once she retires and he's past his peak as a Dancer. It never harms anything to plan for your future right?
♔ He has two older siblings: one runs the company in another city and the other is a socialite.
♔ He does tend to sort look down on others that don't have as much money or privilege as him. (No new money, no tabloid kings/queens and CERTAINLY no one lower class unless they are fascinating or talented.) Of course, it's fairly ironic considering he was adopted into a wealthy family. Some say he's a 'snob', he'll just say he's very picky about who he hangs out with.
♔ Despite this, has a notable weakness towards older rough blue-collar men and stunning, mischievous social climbing women that aren't shy about spending his money and getting him into trouble.
♔ Loves both of his parents, but is particularly the apple of his Mother's eye. (He's never cut his hair for her.)
♔ Is at his peak in the company right now, but isn't the principal male dancer in the company quite yet. It stresses him out quite a bit.
♔ Shares an apartment nearby the company with a roommate and surprisingly pays for his share of the rent and the utilities with his own money. (Everything else? His parent's allowance.)

LOOKING FOR:
♔ Friends, the more interesting, and willing to push him out his rich/high class comfort zone, the better. EXTRA if you troll with his social media accounts.

BLURB:

✢ Grew up in a small American town with her older brother Kokichi (decipere) who she is very close to! They come from a fairly rich family and live comfortable lives.

✢ As a child, she was much shyer than her older brother with a tendency to hide behind him when meeting new people or encountering new situations. She still has shades of that timidity nowadays and will do the exact same thing if she's off her game, but she's grown to be overall more outgoing, at least on the surface. She's extremely cheerful and optimistic with a slightly mischievous streak, thanks to Kokichi.

✢ When she was around 13, she became ill and required hospitalization (exact illness to be determined). She grew to keep smiling for her family members because of how worried they were for her health, and started playing a lot of online games with Kokichi and later, others.

✢ This is because during her time hospitalized, Kokichi started up a guild called Vivarium to play with her even when he couldn't be there himself. One of the guild's special rules is to wear a mask in a certain style to keep anonymous- something that helped Yuuki get past her shyness when it came to meeting others.

✢ She was eventually cured and discharged from the hospital, but the guild remained active. The guild doesn't specifically center itself around one game anymore and it has generally just become an online group where people can have fun interacting with one another. She occasionally streams video games with Kokichi while in their Vivarium masks and often does charity runs so they could donate the proceedings to any group that helps sick children.

✢ She is a very studious girl who not only kept up on her homework while hospitalized, but grew to have aspirations in creating hardware for games that made them more accessible to those with illnesses or disabilities. ✢ She's only recently moved into Recollé herself at the beginning of the school year and currently shares an apartment with her brother, Kokichi. As such, she's newer to the area, but eagerly checking out the new places and meeting new people.

✢ IRL friends! People from her hometown, people from school, people from some part time job, anything! She's pretty much perpetually energetic and upbeat, and unlike her childhood days, she's much better at approaching just about anyone and dragging them off into shenanigans or a snack run.

✢ Guild members and online friends! One of us one of us one of us. Her online handle is Lily and she's active on social media and when she's not shitposting she's probably reblogging cool pins or fanart.

They won't be in the same program at RU, but it's possible that Yuuki and Lucille could be in the same gen ed classes.

I also floated the idea with Ichi about having these two be from the same small town that most of the Fairweathers are from, so if that's something you're interested in, maybe they were classmates in middle and possibly school as well. Lucille is definitely the type to visit someone she knows in the hospital, and while she's not into the online game thing, she would at least try to keep Yuuki company.

AU OCCUPATION: Owner of a nightclub/bar/music venue called The Echo Club.
BLURB:
❀ Arrived in Recolle at the age of 18 and has played in various local bands as varied from jazz to metal. Because of this, she has a bit of rep in the music community and knows many acts.
❀ Can play piano, violin, cello, and has sung on occasion every once in a while. Every month or so she plays on stage.
❀ Was married to her husband of five years (and boyfriend of eight), a local music promoter named Raphael Durham. He was older than her by at least 10 years and died in a car accident around a year ago. They started The Echo Club together two years ago and it's been... rough for Viola. (He handled the books and the bar, she handled the musical acts. She's gotten by with a manager, but there are good days and bad.)
❀ Has a fair bit of infamy in her younger days appearing in few 'specialized' clubs and videos. (She moonlighted as a Dominatrix for a fair bit of her twenties. But now it's more of a hobby if anything.)
❀ It was her idea for The Echo Club to accept all types of music and have all ages nights.
❀ Has been dyeing her hair some form of blonde (and an occasional grey, white or pink) since she arrived in Recolle. Because of all the damage, it tends to be short.
❀ Lives in a fairly nice duplex building, since her husband is gone. It's just her, her black munchkin cat Schwarz and a roommate next door.
❀ Hasn't been dating much since her husband died. Too busy with the club. :(
❀ Has a number of tattoos, mostly of flowers, skulls, vintage medical supplies, and various memento mori themed stuff.
❀ Her first band was a gothic themed riot grrl band, she broke up with them but kept the aesthetic. (But her style has grown up a bit from the baby bats that come in the club. But is capable of breaking out the fishnets and fetishwear when called to.)
❀ Is fairly active on social media to promote the club and is kind of an influencer in the alt-scene in Recolle.

* She's still very brilliant, and both her street learning and her drive to make things better have gotten her to get as much education as possible. She's full scholarship university student now.
* In general, she's decided that acting polite and mannered will get her further and to better opportunities to help life as she's known it, but she has a savage underside. Don't get her mad.
* Doesn't exactly keep her origins a secret, but doesn't talk much or easily about it, either.
* Had an older sister figure who abandoned her/the group they were more or less taking care of a few years back.
* Has learned a lot of things from surviving and taking care of kids out in the streets. Including but not limited to first aid/patching people up.

➳ Is in her self-appointed 'tough/edge lord-girl' phase mostly because she doesn't feel like she can relate to most of her classmates. Despite this, she does have a small group of (mostly girl) friends she sticks with.
➳ Mother is an American who was a lab assistant (now homemaker) to her Russian (Buryat in ethnicity) husband who is a scientist specializing in manufacturing various drugs for prescription companies. Nancy doesn't see him often.
➳ Her favorite person in the world is her Karate Teacher. (And is the best student in his class, but she wants to meet the older kids he teaches.)
➳ Does alright in school, but really excels in physical things. Until she turned 15 and fell in love with skateboarding and fighting she was in every athletic single team in school. Her Father doesn't like it too much.
➳ Hasn't learned how to drive yet and doesn't care to learn. (Why bother when you can skate/take the train to nearly everyplace?)
➳ Has cut her hair since she was 13 and isn't stopping for anybody.
➳ Doesn't particularly care for boys her age because most of them are intimidated by her.
➳ In response to the bothering she and other girls got by boys at the skate park, she has joined a crew of mostly girl skaters to stick together and beat the crap out of anyone that questions them. (She hasn't gotten into any trouble... yet.)
➳ Is named after a singer who her Father was a fan of. She doesn't really see the appeal. (She's more of a punk/nineties grunge sort of girl.)
➳ Hasn't quite figured out what she wants to do after high school. (And it sort of freak her parents out.)

BLURB: For those unfamiliar with Tokyo ESP, it's basically X-Men set in Japan. It straight up lifts so many things from X-Men to the point her dad is a Wolverine expy and Rinka is a Kitty Pryde expy. If mutant powers were granted by flying glowing fish that came from a mystical tablet. There's finding out you're a mutant (esper), deciding how you're going to use your powers, running into other espers using their powers for BAD THINGS and deciding to STOP THEM. (We're not going to talk about the 2nd half of the manga yet, lmao.)

I'm thinking of flipping Rinka's canon history. So instead of growing up broke and barely scraping by in Japan with her father, she grows up in the US with her mother and lives a rather plush life. Though she probably isn't close to her mother at all.

- living in Recolle with her mother (high power lawyer or business executive, basically a woman who GETS SHIT DONE)
OR
- living in Recolle w/ relatives from her mother's side

- has no memories of her father, believes he was someone her mother met on a business trip
- kind of wonders about him though, due to her distant relationship with her mom

AU OCCUPATION: A college student with an undecided major, but I'm unsure on what occupation to actually give her. I was thinking of giving her something ordinary like working at a grocery store or something to put emphasis on the whole lack of passion for anything extraordinary issue, if anyone has any ideas or job offerings for her lmk.
BLURB:

▸ She was originally born in England as an only child, but moved to Recollé with her parents when she was five.
▸ Has a very good home life, is loved by her parents and loves them in return. Her parents were older when they had her so they're in their 50's/60's at this point in time, and she worries often for their health. She's never had to be alone before.
▸ Struggled a bit to keep up with the other children at the beginning of elementary school but was set on a special learning course and was able to succeed with the help of her family and teachers. Mostly kept to herself all throughout her school days, but was kind to everyone she met and managed to make a few good friends that she loves.
▸ A shy and sort of awkward girl, if not a little weird. She has the tendency to mumble when she speaks because of her naturally quiet and small voice. She's easy to startle and is a crybaby sometimes, but she tries her best and is quite friendly!
▸ Very loyal if she's attached to you and loves deeply when she does. Can be affectionate and even clingy if she's comfortable and close with the person in question.
▸ She looks like a young teenager even though she's 21. That short, petite feel when.
▸ A big fan of cutesy clothes. Super into pink and frills. She looks a bit like a doll in appearance, and usually finds everything she gets in thrift stores. She's pretty big on thrifting and finding the best deals available.

▸ A huge eater. How can so much food fit into one tiny body?! It's one of Recollé's unsolved mysteries, actually... anyways, she can get pretty embarrassed about the bottomless pit that is her stomach, but once you see her pigging out there's no coming back.
▸ As mentioned earlier, she lacks any particular passion for anything and it makes her kinda anxious. She has things she enjoys but there's nothing that lights a spark in her in the sense that she wants to dedicate herself to it, so she's left not knowing what to do with her adult life since she doesn't want to be unhappy but also can't just force herself to suddenly find something (or someone) that ignites her heart inside.
▸ Lives in an apartment and is currently attending Recollé University. I kind of want her to have a pet but I'm not sure what?! Maybe a cat or a bunny.

LOOKING FOR:

▸ FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES: I'm looking for friends (or just people she knows) for Sonia to have! Since she's always been shy, she's never had a huge abundance of friends, but she's lived in Recollé since childhood so she's bound to be on a friendship-basis with a few people. Can know her from school/college, work, her thrifting hobbies, etc.
▸ CLOSE FRIENDS: She's going to need people to rely on as she regains her memories because uhmm she has a lot of awful shit waiting for her to uncover. A lot of which involve being in a severely co-dependent relationship. And being a serial killer. Both of which sort of overlap each other. ▸ A ROOMMATE: I have it written that Sonia moved out of her parent's house when she was about 19, but I can't see her living alone. Sonia is a good girl and would be a peaceful roommate to have, I promise. As long you don't mind her army of thrifted antique clown dolls.
▸ EX-GIRLFRIENDS/CRUSHES: I don't imagine Sonia ever having been in any super serious relationships that lasted more than a few months, but I can see her having briefly dated a few girls in high school and what-have-you. This does instill something of a protective streak, and she quickly becomes a confidante for her class and housemates. She finds she enjoys her time at school far more than her summers with her aunt

Her life has been startlingly boring, which suits her just fine! She might not be interesting, but she's stable and has a good head on her shoulders

During a study abroad program at University, she stays for a year in Recollé. She likes it!

That time spent in Recollé inspires her to apply for teaching positions in the states. Look. Just because she knows she's dull doesn't mean she wants to stay that way!

Surprisingly, she gets a teaching job at RHS! She started last year, and has had time to adjust. She has a cute little apartment downtown that she's very proud of, and a cat who is way too impressed with himself but is also spoiled rotten. Don't you wish this was you, Mogget?

Also plants. Lots. And lots. Of plants. They are her babies.

LOOKING FOR: Friends from across the pond, or from the time she studied in Recollé. Fellow teachers. Students. I'm still deciding on a subject. I'm also open to distant relatives. Maybe she has some in the city already? Who knows!
