AU OCCUPATION: University Student (art + education) + University Mentor
BLURB:

Although he was born in Japan, Naegi moved to Recolle when he was pretty young so his Japanese is... on the level of a second gen. He can understand and speak like a child but that's about it (how do you say goodbye again?? is it gomen??)
Instead of being a talentless loser like in his OU, he's an artist here! Which means... he has all your typical artist woes such as screaming about how expensive art supplies are, accidentally drinking paint water, glueing his fingers together so his right hand is constantly going 👌 all day long. It's a sad life for him.
He's currently a university art student who wants to become a teacher so... yeah, he's accepted that he's not going to have a job any time soon. He tries not to let it get him down too much but it's also like yeah... he'll be entering his fourth year so come die with him as things really crunch down??
He's also a mentor at Recolle U! That means if you're a freshman, you might get Naegi as your mentor (whether you like it or not). How it works is that he pretty much helps his mentees adjust to their new university lives and he's there to provide general guidance in Recolle U. He holds study groups, exam preps, stuff like that. Also, he sends out encouraging text messages to his mentees like this and that because he's a dork like that.
The unluckiest person you will ever meet in your life. Forgets his house keys every other day, constantly losing something, probably falls down the stairs more times than he can count, it's Bad. You might want to steer clear of him or else his terrible luck will rub off on you.
Also, his apartment life is just... sad. Currently living with Daisuke Niwa (sketchythief) and these two are just the textbook definition of poor art students. Their fridge is empty 80% of the time and sometimes, they're just munching on raw noodles. It's a disaster and someone needs to help them financially (because Naegi knows how to cook and clean and all that, he just has lol no money).
Asides from that, buy his commissions?? He will draw ur mary sue oc for $$$ oh god he wants to eat lunch tomorrow, please

Mentees (whether new or old - they're new, he'll spam them with mass texts now and then), fellow artists who will Die with him, friends from... literally anywhere like childhood or online or university, family members, someone to PUNCH HIM AND CAUSE HIM TO PASS OUT FOR 12 HOURS, and someone to please hire him for a second part-time job because mentoring is good but it does not pay the bills. AU NAME: Kyouko Kirigiri, because I know I would mess it up otherwise lbr.
AU AGE: 20 or 21, I will decide at the last second.
AU OCCUPATION: She's a university student (medical) and does volunteer hours currently + works at the university library. Her occupation is never sleeping ever.
BLURB:

-Born in Japan like a million other people, her parents moved around a lot; she's lived in a variety of places as a result, but they came to Recollé during her high school years and Kyouko has stayed since. Her parents moved away again after she graduated high school, however.

-She's always been a very focused and attentive student/person, and in school has meticulous notes and hits her deadlines all the time. She rarely asks questions or offers up opinions in classes, but she proves a competent group member in most cases even if she can be kind of a Pain to work with if you expect constant communication. She's better about it in the AU but still isn't the chattiest and prefers to work in silence a lot. She didn't have many club activities (she joined maybe pre-med club or something that's It) and probably kept to a smaller circle of friends.

-Always takes the best notes. They are detailed and organized and methodical and you probably want to borrow them more than you'd want, say, Dave Strider's notes.

-This quiet-focused thing has pretty much persisted into college and she's just patiently working along the life track she planned for herself. She does not seem to sleep a lot? Like, presumably she does but good luck figuring out what hours she keeps. No one knows really and she does not say?

-Probably lives next door to some starving artists or something apartment wise! May have acquired a talent for lockpicking thanks to that.

-Family-wise she has two cousins: Zoro and Koga Oogami, although she'll call Zoro "Ryouta". Since that is, like, his name and she is allowed to use it. She may know people who know them if you like! She's Fond of family in an understated way.

-Speaking of that she generally has a good relationship with her parents in the AU, although a sort of cordially distant one at times. They're usually fairly busy and she doesn't see them a lot but she doesn't have any particular issues with them.

-Also she doesn't wear gloves all the time because her hands aren't scarred so enjoy that while it is a thing. Also her hair is black and she has dark eyes which will be FIXED top priority because I like icons to work.

-Does watch crime dramas sometimes, but tends to watch documentaries and non-fiction shows the most. Rarely cooks, and frequently drinks coffee.

LOOKING FOR: I think I am set on family (she has 2 maternal cousins and maybe one on her dad's side depending) but I would love any friends cr, MAYBE A ROOMMATE???, classmates, people she might work with, coffeeshop people where she just haunts the place working on whatever, pretty much anything! I am available for any sort of plotted cr basically. Mmaybe even childhood friends or something; Kyouko will be friendlier with people she knows better but her version of "friendly" is still sort of aloof so.

✽ Contrary to her canon-counterpart, her family is NOT A GROUP OF ASSHOLES AND HER SIBLING(S) ARE ALIVE! Her cousin (by marriage??) is Penelo so she knows one person!
✽ Parents are from Japan, so she's first generation US-born. She speaks Japanese with proficiency but can't read or write it much and she regrets not learning it more as a kid.
✽ Came to Recolle for school! Studying...SOMETHING! I'm thinking she maybe wants to be a teacher. But she also likes 8,000 things so maybe she's already changed her major 3 times. ♪ Coming to Recolle University as a freshman! Major is currently undeclared.
♪ He's a band geek, and is very passionate about music. He's more classically trained (violin, piano, wind instruments, etc), but he enjoys more modern stuff as well because music is wonderful!
♪ Wants to major in music, but there's pressure from his family to major in something more practical or at least broaden his horizons. Thus, expect to find him all sorts of different courses of various fields, even if he's godawful at them in an attempt to placate his family.*
♪ Born and raised in NYC! Queens, specifically.*
♪ His dad is in the army, and his mom was a pianist but she passed away when he was 9 from illness. He has an older sister still back in NYC whose overprotective and constantly sends him care packages.*
♪ Gay, but he hasn't come out to most of his family except his older sister. Now that he's away at college, he's going through that phase where you want to explore lgbtqa stuff, but you're still really self-conscious about what others might think and hesistant to do it. ~~God I don't miss that age.~~
♪ He's likely to be involved in any music-based clubs at the university and around the city. Will claim that music is just a hobby and nothing more, but that's a totally effing lie.
♪ His actual not obsessive hobby is card games like Magic: The Gathering. He's not very great or competitive - so he just plays for fun sometimes.

LOOKING FOR:

♪ Family! I would love to have him relatives in Recolle.
♪ Dormmates! Do you have an incoming freshmen that needs a roommate? Do you like living in a dorm where there's decent live music and constant food from care packages? Then Elliot is the roommate for you! Otherwise, I'd be happy to at least share the same dorm building as other Recolle folks!
♪ Classmates & Teachers. Elliot is going to be in a lot of different classes, so it'd be very easy to have him share a class with other characters.
♪ Friends! Elliot is pretty easy to get along with (unlike the other loser I play), so I would love having friends that he knew either from NYC or online or other situations.
♪ People to heal! Elliot is the primary healer character in Cold Steel, so once he starts getting regains- he'll be getting healing abilities back pretty quick. So if you're the type to regularly need a healer- I totally recommend befriending him.

OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: The other one I'm mulling over is Yuna from FFX, though my concern with her is that she'd be TOO involved in everything and I so don't have the time.

- Younger of 2 twin sisters born to a wealthy Japanese family
- Going for a no-twinswap AU here, so while the sisters sometimes liked to use their identical faces to switch places, it was always temporary
- Her grandparents made the family money with their international canned meat corporation, and her family moved to Recolle right before she entered secondary school in order for her mother to head their US branch
- Currently entering her last year of high school
- Mediocre student at best - she doesn't see the point in learning things you can look up on google in five minutes
- Has absolutely no idea what she wants to do with her future, and so avoids thinking about it as much as possible.
- Probably involved in some after school clubs
- Either looking for a part-time job or working at one for spending money
- Much more open about being a girly-girl than in canon, since she doesn't have any expectations placed on her as the future heir anymore. She'll tend to dress in cuter clothes (think HBS Mion vs her icons) and avoid calling herself an old man.
- Still a bit of a troll, because that's just in the Sonozaki family genes

LOOKING FOR: Friends! Family members (canonically her extended family is ginormous)! Classmates! Honestly, interested in everything and anything.

AU OCCUPATION: Freshman in college starting out as a biology student and probably hating every minute of it. Additionally he'll be getting a job at Flix.
BLURB: John Egbert is an 18 year old who just graduated from high school and will be attending RU in the fall. He's originally from Seattle and so he won't actually set foot in the city until 9/1. He plans on majoring in biology despite the fact it's not his first choice, but it's a solid one. He's an accomplished pianist even if he won't often say so and he played on his high school's soccer team and baseball team for four years. He's generally very laid back and prone to making friends easily since he tends to accept people the way that they are and judge later if necessary. He's very passionate about his tastes in movies and video games and he's also prone to causing mischief and pranking people. Sorry about him. He's a little gunshy about getting super-close to people but once he's assured they're not going to bail on him he's pretty much stuck to them like glue. Overall bottom line: easy to befriend, generally calm, a loyal and good boy.
LOOKING FOR: Friends! He'll be rooming with Dave Strider at the university and have his job at the movie theater, but any friends or classmates? Tutors might also Help because John's attempting to major in a science and he's pretty ambivalent about it. I'm open to just about any kind of CR with him, he's easy to throw at all types of people. Past internet friends can also be a thing I guess? Etc.

AU OCCUPATION: College student (junior year, business major) / Shift leader at a McDonald's or some other fast food restaurant
BLURB:

- He can be very intense and driven, and he treats even mundane manners like Serious Business. He can look down on others and often acts like a jerk, but he's still more agreeable than he acts, and he can be kind to others, if often in subtle ways.
- He aims to become a titan of industry, and he's starting by working his way up a fast food chain. He likes to be a responsible leader and looks out for his own.
- He is very passionate about food.
- Some of his other interests include anime and strategy-based games. He likely sits in on Recolle U's anime club.
- He may also have a voicework-related hobby: either hosting a radio show/podcast, trying out voicework (maybe doing ProZD-like shitposts?) or ventriloquism.
- I don't have much of an idea of his background and family life, though those details may be shaped more if/when I find other potential relatives for him. For now, I'm assuming that he's lived in Recolle for his whole life.
- Possibly cousins with Kyouko Kirigiri (and Kirigiri may end up being his last name if I don't find a differently-named parent).
- For those canonbind and not minding spoilers, I do have a rundown of the basics about this character and the potential arc in mind, as well as my earlier AU ideas in this GDoc.

LOOKING FOR: Family members! Anyone who would want to be a parent or sibling of this character. Any friends he'd know growing up, at college, or through work/hobbies would be cool too!
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: I think I'm set on focusing on this consideration for now. As for castmates I want, any dangans would be great, especially the real Byakuya Togami or Ryouta Mitarai!

* originally born in England
* parents were involved in something, wanted out, and went on the run
* they wound up in the States when Derek was four
* literally weeks after they arrived, they were involved in a severe car accident as they were driving toward Recolle
* Derek was thrown clear of the vehicle, which saved his life when the vehicle burst into flames
* He was the only survivor and the head trauma he received lead to amnesia
* police were unable to identify Derek positively as all his identification (fake as it was) burnt up in the car. He was only able to remember his first name (if that's even his real first name).
* Derek wound up in Recolle Orphanage
* Derek was adopted when he was seven, by [Ma] and [Pa] Matthews
* Derek was the forth of what would eventually be seven children the Matthews adopted

* The Matthews were solidly middle-class, [Pa] was a lawyer and [Ma] was a nurse prior to the pack of kids
* Derek became best friends with the boy who lived across the street.
* After high school, Derek and his best friend attended Recolle University and were roommates. He double majored in Forensic Science and Chemistry
* He met his now girlfriend freshman year in Intro Chem, where they were lab partners. They also happen to be in the same English Literature class along with Derek's best friend.
* She was in a long distance relationship with her high school boyfriend who was in the military
* Derek had a MAD crush on her, because she was smart, practical, super smart, pulled her weight in group projects, super smart omg her brains are so HOT.... oh, and she was pretty, yeah
* Eventually, she broke up with her boyfriend... due to the distance and poor communication
* Derek kept it cool for about two months (he best friend was pestering him to ask her out as soon as she dumped the ex-boyfriend, but Derek wanted to be considerate) before asking her out on a date
* They have been dating ever since
* After graduation, Derek joined the Recolle Crime Lab, he's now worked there for four years. He currently lives in an apartment with his best friend.
* He is thinking of popping the question to his girlfriend (clearly that is not going to happen any time soon)
* He has a two year old Siamese cat named Blaise.

- Born in Recollé
- Sadly, brown hair instead of rose/pink.
- Put into the foster system at age 3. Doesn't remember any family before that.
- Has bounced around foster homes for most of her life. Hasn't stayed in one for more than six months.
- Is 'on her way out' of her current home after a recent run in with the police for trespassing.
- Starting eighth grade in the fall. Goes to class about...two thirds of the time?
- Passes all her classes by being smart enough to do the work/pass the tests without really having to put any effort in. Charms the teachers to forgive her for not showing up.
- Definitely attention starved. Has a tendency to make up stories to get people to want to hang out with her/feel for her. Mostly she's just lonely.
- Manipulative. And awfully good at it.
- Basically she's a lying liar who lies. But not about anything really important. She just tells stories. Or says what she thinks people want to hear.
- Doesn't have a great time keeping friends. Doesn't make enemies or anything, just not a lot of friends.
- Is definitely driving some poor social worker to drink.
- Can be awfully bratty.
- Has something of a 'tween punk' clothing style.
- Spends a ton of time on twitter and tumblr and takes a million selfies. Has a decent following and her users think she's older.
- Very little concern about personal property space? Occasional shoplifting, definite trespassing. Has gotten caught for shoplifting twice but talked her way out of both times. Turns up where she's not supposed to be. Picks locks!

LOOKING FOR: A family? Basically the foster kid idea can be removed pretty easily if someone is looking for a daughter or younger sister. She'd still keep most of the same sneaky, lying, bratty attitude, just without the occasional homelessness. Won't be quite as desperate for attention either. Maybe. Haha.

Aside from that, definitely friends. Her own age, or older kids she annoys. Also adults who have to put up with her? Haha.

CHARACTER: Cloud Strife
CANON: Final Fantasy VII ~~i am forever in final fantasy hell h e l p~~

AU NAME: Cloud Strife
AU AGE: 23-24
AU OCCUPATION: Mechanic at an auto repair shop.

BLURB:

-Was born and raised outside of Recolle, as an only child.

-His parents divorced when he was young and his mother practically ditched them, after a bit of family drama regarding her infidelity. He’s never seen her since, though he harbors no need to reconnect with her at all.

-He grew up relatively happily with his father, though initially dealt with the sudden shift in family structure by becoming withdrawn. This eventually just became a facet of his personality as a result.

-As a result of said infidelity, Cloud has a half-brother. That half-brother is Prompto, though he is currently unaware of it. THEY WILL MEET. It will be awkward but glorious.

-Moved to Recolle after finishing with his college courses. Focused on mechanical engineering (??? or smth similar, smth that has to do with putting things together and making them work), and moved to Recolle for job opportunities.

-Of course it’s never so easy, and he’s just working in an automobile repair shop for now.

-He’s simultaneously caught between that complacency of “well I like the job, it’s not so bad” and “I should probably utilize my schooling a little more” type of mindset.

-WILL REQUIRE SOMEONE TO NUDGE HIM IN THAT DIRECTION after a while in-game, I imagine. Until then enjoy him needing out over ALL THINGS MOTORCYCLES all the time.

-Since he’s new to the city, he’s still learning his way around. Probably gets lost occasionally. Probably can also be recognized as “that one dude on the motorcycle with the spiky hair”.

-Collects wolf figurines. Don't judge him.

LOOKING FOR: Friends! All the friends, please. He is not a very social person, and while he doesn’t mean to be standoffish, sometimes it’s hard for Cloud to break out of his shell. I require people to drag him around and take him places, and for him to make connections in general. Since he’s new, he will still need to learn the ins and outs of the city — this is a good opportunity for him to be anywhere, whether accidental or on purpose. FIND HIM. TALK TO HIM.

He’s going to be around 23-24, so Cloud is also in that nifty age range of being able to garner CR from older teens and also adults without too much trouble. Basically, I want to throw him around everywhere. If you are friends with Prompto, please come meet his new older half-brother.

BLURB:

- the short version is that Beth is the kind of girl who'd fight a pigeon for a french fry on the ground

- She's Japanese but was given a Westernized name by her immigrant, aging parents. Her Japanese name that her family uses is Tomiko and she goes by Beth around friends, in school and everyday life!
- Beth is from a farming family. Their farm isn't commercial, though they do sell organic dairy products, meats and produce in some local grocery stores. They're decently middle class but they live pretty modestly.
- Beth is the oldest of three siblings: two sisters and a brother. Because it's a family farm, Tomiko was tasked with a lot of hard labor, menial chores and farm work.
- If it involves animal health, resource harvesting or chasing down a creature to wrangle it, she's your girl.
- Beth is famous in her family for being the only one who could wrestle Big George, a particularly large and ornery pet pig. She's a pig wrestler.
- Instead of commuting from the farm to school, Beth now has an apartment in the city so she can easily travel to school. Her mother is very protective and worried about her eldest daughter so she often sends her farm care packages.
- Because Beth doesn't want to burden her family as an inconvenience (something she has a complex about) Beth works as much as possible when she's not in school. She works as a convenience store cashier during the week, then freelances as a cleaner on the weekends -- living rooms, parks, whatever someone wants her to do, she'll do it.
- Her income is pretty sparse, a lot of it going to rent and the utmost necessities. Beth isn't afraid to pull food out of the trash (not nasty food, but perfectly good food her convenience store throws away is a waste if you just leave it!!!), pick up stuff from the side of the road. Some people might be more ashamed of impoverished living, but she's proud and frugal!!! She's also a lifehack queen because of this.
- Despite her farm leanings, Beth does have a lot of interest in more sophisticated things. When she feels like she has enough money, Beth splurges on nice clothes or good bathroom stuff.
- One of the reasons for her obsession with paying her own way is because she's not exactly the brightest student. She sometimes thinks it's a waste to spend money on her education since she doesn't learn as well as most people, but she's an optimistic person and has decided that if she can't read and write that great, she'll just work really ~~good~~ hard!
- Her farm upbringing HAS made her pretty athletic, though. She's good at running, basketball, hurdles and can lift pretty heavy objects.
- She's also used to getting up at ass o'clock in the morning, so she gets up at 4 AM and goes running in the wee hours of the morning (and also when she's off on the weekend).
- Beth is a little out there in her personality, attitude and life experiences, and she's actually not one to hide it. If you think she's weird and impulsive and bizarre....okay! Cool! She's very amicable.
- Family is very important to Beth, and she tries to spread that same feeling of love to everyone! Being a sister is great! Her mom is wonderful! She loves her dad! Wow, family!!! Super amazing!!!!
- This may explain why she pampers her pet dog (that she got to take with her, thank goodness) Biscuits and treats her like her own daughter.

- insert daily soap opera drama where it doesn't work out, sadly. the actual details of the scandal are murky and a lot of people believe that Karen's to blame for the break-up.
- the real truth was that they just stopped loving each other and started seeing other people while married which ate Karen up on the inside because she was obsessed with being the ideal happy bride everyone else envied
- it doesn't help that she also eloped??? with someone and left Recolle
- but she came back after a year single once again

BLURB: Unlike the clumsy maid that she is in canon, this Felicia is more like the Super Felicia her canon self occasionally dreams of being. She's confident and graceful... just not as a domestic servant. She isn't a native to Recolle, but instead moved into the city when she as younger with her Sister (TBD) to stay with a relative after their mother died due to the hectic nature of their father's career as a pilot.

Besides this, Felicia is talented in both Track and as a Martial Artist-- and she's attending school partly on a scholarship because of her athletic skill. her decision to become a physical therapist was due to her desire to help people, but her overall skills weren't suited for going into a traditional medical field. This seemed like the best alternative.

She is also forward thinking and the sort who will take make moves to not accidentally insult people because of not understanding their culture. Since there seems to be a decent amount of Japanese or part Japanese people in town, this means that Felicia is probably studying the language and culture to some degree either on her own or as part of her electives for school. I haven't determined the full extent of this, however.

LOOKING FOR: Possible family members? Volunteers for the Sister or other Relative roles are awesome if anyone wants them. If not, they can be taken by NPCs. Otherwise, classmates, people who frequent the gym, training buddies, and current or former romantic interests are a thing. Friends of all sorts are also welcome. Felicia is one of the friendliest people that anyone will have the chance to meet.
