Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! I think not doing smut threads would be fine, I mean...it isn't like people are playing out sitting in class all day or ringing up groceries. Just her job stuff, has her meeting interesting people and gathering stories. The other point I'm less gung-ho about because yeah, that sure is a valid concern. It's kind of an awkward thing to research, too, but from what little I've seen it's actually interesting, and I think having it normalized as an occupation helps?

Like, if she thought about it, of course he would know English, but she doesn't think about it and a dozen years ago she was always having to help him understand people the few times she saw him out and about, so!! Here's what this means!!! And Lalli wouldn't be able to decide how he feels because hearing Finnish again is comforting and he doesn't have to talk to as many people BUT ON THE OTHER HAND...HECK OFF, TUURI!!

I'm guessing Tarou would actually be good with money, since he's an MBA student and while he gets money thrown at him, he's also managing his own finances.

Cooking and picking up after himself are probably more useful life skills that he lacks

She speaks to Lalli in Finnish, Lalli speaks back to her in Finnish, she translates the gist of what he's saying to English for the third party in the room and it never occurs to her to just... use English instead...

CANON: Captive Prince

AU NAME: Laurent Duvere
AU AGE: 20
AU OCCUPATION: Heir to CableCorp, a thinly veiled version of NewsCorp in its heyday, and business student
BLURB:
Laurent Duvere is the youngest son of Aleron Duvere, a French billionaire who made his fortune as a successful media mogul. He expanded CableCorp, a French media company started by his father before him, via successful investing and buyouts until it became one of the largest media companies in Europe. CableCorp is a media conglomerate worth billions of dollars. It owns newspapers, TV channels, websites, magazines, radio shows, has shares in film companies.

Laurent's father and mother both died in a car accident seven years ago, leaving the business to be taken over by their oldest son Auguste with the assistance of his uncle. Auguste is well liked and clever, and largely Laurent trusts him with all this, but recently the usually more even-handed direction of the company and its reporting has begun to tip just enough to be noticeable. Since the death of his father, Laurent's uncle has been a more noticeable presence in the family's life and he has been helping Auguste run the company in a way that smacks of ambition. Laurent suspects his influence is responsible for this change in direction, and that his brother is a little too trusting of his own family to realise he is being manipulated.

CableCorp thus has had a certain amount of backlash, and while Laurent is likely not a recognisable face his surname is (in the same way the name Murdoch might be in life). There is a slowly developing scandal as the reporting methods of some branches are investigated, and Laurent is loathe to not be home to help but also aware he must let his brother handle it. He is in Recolle finishing a business degree, and generally travels with security in case someone decides to get a little heated. (Someone else who will end up on the workshop in a minute will probably be his awkward security guard).

CableCorp tends to back the mayor in most of its news! It is not the number one news company in Recolle, it's bigger in Europe, but it is present. The mayor probably plays golf with Laurent's creepy uncle once a month or something.

WARNING: This book series comes with a laundry list of content warnings. While most of it is sort of... safely not in his AU memories, once he starts to remember his life he will definitely have memories of child abuse, slavery, incest, all sorts of bad things. You can totally opt out of him (if he gets in!) or just, you know, warn me to stay away from that content with you. It... probably isn't something he'd talk about anyway, I'm just being upfront so people don't feel caught out after planning here or something.

AU OCCUPATION: Bodyguard for Laurent Duvere
BLURB:
• Faolan O'Neill was born to a large family in Ireland. One of five children, he grew up with his brother and sisters, parents, and grandparents all in the same house. He speaks Gaelic, English, and French all fluently (the latter for business purposes).
• Faolan's family is well-known, well-liked, and being fairly well-off where they are from, he and his siblings were encouraged to follow their dreams as they so desired.
• Faolan is something of a dreamer himself, though he's lacking in direction. Once he was out of school, he joined a gym to work out his frustrations, gained some skills (and some muscles), earned the attentions of a recruiter, and the rest is history.
• Faolan is a good bodyguard, working his way up the ranks in multiple positions at multiple companies before earning himself a respectable position with the Duvere family. The Duvere's are a family of successful media mogul billionaires who own a French media company, CableCorp, one of the largest media companies in Europe.
• Faolan is first assigned as part of the group to watch over the heir of the company, Auguste. Through their close age and Auguste's easygoing personality, Faolan and Auguste get to know each other well, until when Auguste's younger brother Laurent is set to study Business at in Recolle University and Faolan is sent along with him to keep an eye out for him as his one and only bodyguard.
• Faolan lives and breathes his job, and barely knows how to relax in the time he has off. Mostly this is due to the fact that 90% of the time his life revolves around other people's lives and looking out for them.
• Faolan has a secret talent for music, which is one of the directions he was thinking of taking his career after school, though he couldn't quite figure out what he was to do with such a study either.
• Faolan is a kind man, gentle when he allows himself to be, moody and tempermental at other times (he is Irish...), but above all he is the best at what he does which is looking out for other people and keeping them safe. Not only through his physical ability to fight, but also through his strategic ability to approach any given situation intelligently.

LOOKING FOR: UHHHH anyone who might be trouble for his bodyguard role, anyone who might make that job easier and/or share tips/commiserate with him on the role, he is going to attend classes with Laurent even though he is not a student himself (for SECURITY) so anyone who is in the same college that he might see around, anyone that might pose Laurent a problem in general, anyone that wonders wtf he is doing following this guy around all the time HAHAHA, anyone that might attend the gym that Faolan would probably very rarely frequent, anyone Faolan might encounter if he went out jogging (his number one choice of exercising), other people to be grumpy about/protective of???, fellow music nerds, anything really!!! If you have other suggestions let's talk something out!!!

Mary's a year younger than him but also studies politics! she also has a short temper and would probably make an excellent debate partner :3c she comes from a poor family but likes to pretend she's actually rich too... lol

HELLO.... i think ayano and eijun would be The Best of Friends the more i read this, this ticked off so many of my boxes. he also has a good friend who is obsessed with wrestling (and?? wrestles him?? why). he's also awful at school so they've probably spent time together in detention... AND he can help with physical training bc he's a baseball player!

ALSO he wouldn't let her be the weird girl that everyone ignores, THERE IS NO ESCAPING SAWAMURA EIJUN 8D it looks like they're both seniors (i think) so classmates too!!!!

EXCELLENT if she is into politics and stuff she's probably aware of the suspect stuff about CableCorp's reporting and all. Laurent is actually secretly a nice person but he likes to keep people at arms length by acting the role of who people think he should be (aloof elitist dick, super cold hearted.)

(Secretly he'd probably save a kitten yknow).

This means they could have a good few heckling spats where he's like LOL IDC before she gets under his skin a little.

If you want comedy value she could have been dragged off by his bodyguard too for yelling.

Being so serious just makes you a brilliant target for teasing you know.

hello! i have a fellow political science student who could probably force lila to get some goddamn sleep... she does a lot of Babysitting in canon so it's not anything totally unusual.

also she's in desperate need of cute girl friends so i think this would work out nicely :3c

THE WORST especially bc he would totally get riled up/flustered the more teasing he received which would only make teasing him even better.

fake it till you make it is relatable as hell....... mary is also super ashamed of her home life and tries to pretend it doesn't exist and only makes superficial friends so CLEARLY we need to throw them together and make them try and make real friends!

she's also easy to rile up and tease so there's that. also will probably get involved in some illegal activity at some point for ur detectiving needs o7

(also "he wants his own nemesis" made me laugh out loud, akechi, why are you the way you are)

he already does the 'kindly mentor figure' to a couple of kids so this is daily happenings to him, talking to youth and what they want to do in life

and he also has the patience of a saint so six's awkward won't be that much of an issue! he's very nice o/

i come bearing one loud idiot who desperately needs a tutor, who would probably mispronounce his name all the time (and call him something stupid like "mr tutor") and would make an excellent play off a straight faced and calm guy 8Dc
