AU WORKSHOP - NOVEMBER Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. AU NAME: Natasha (or Natalia or Tanya I'm waffly feel free to vote) ... Piena?

AU OCCUPATION: Casino worker! Also trying to go to college part-time.
BLURB:

• She was born in a town in the middle of bumblefuck nowhere. She grew up there around her family's part on an apple orchard and was generally comfortable for a rural area but not wealthy.
  
• She grew up alongside Nozomi (workshop here from last month) who though Cam isn't planning to app this round is important to the backstory I came up with here so she'll have a vague handwavy NPC best friend-benefactor.
  
• Early in her life her town held a publicity stunt to name one of the young residents there the princess of the town and try to make local/state news by declaring the town a micronation. Low and behold, she was picked and thus is the princess of whatever bumblefuck town she's from even if that never really made that many headlines. But it sure exists on the internet if anyone tracks down information like that. (I know this is ripping off Sakura Quest but it amuses me, this might be changed to a persistent winner of county faire Miss Town type deals? I'm not sure, waffling again feel free to vote)
  
• A combination of that and a lot of poorer people in town being workers on the orchards that her family owns a part of means Nachetanya despite not being that wealthy herself is famous within their little town, and infamous among her schoolmates. This sometimes has served to make her popular, but also has made her a target for mockery, especially after...
  
• When she was 11, a freak accident or medical complication of some kind (I'm still undecided what. Car accident? A severe infection? Cancerous tissue infecting the whole thing not caught until then? Frostbite? I'm kind leaning infection, feel free to vote again) resulted in the amputation of her left arm.
  
• She was always an athletic sort and lost her arm early enough that she was able to get through physical therapy as she got through her teen years, but it did make for a sharp divide between her early life and later years in said down, and further cemented her resolve to eventually leave it. Which she did, for college, applying to and getting into R.U. (her benefactor best friend would have moved shortly before that or a little after depending)
  
• At R.U. she's sort of waffled her way through most of her gen-eds but declared thus far three different majors which she's started and then shifted. Right now, she's going for a Sociology degree. Eventually she started going to school only part-time, instead taking up a job at her friend's newly opened casino. She does it all but mostly is a very pretty dealer and hostess.
  
• The real thing she picked up at R.U. though was the atmosphere and ability to join groups and clubs. She's tried out a large variety of them, also getting involved (both on an offline) in activism. While she's jack of all trades for this, her most passionate forays are into animal rights and protection, and ... yes. She is a vegetarian who flirts with veganism insofar as her budget, health, and if she's cheating or not allow.
  
• She's been in Recolle for three or so years at this point and probably is just getting into her Junior year credits-wise this coming semester. But that's her lot in life: student by day, casino worker (who of course wears a bunny costume because why wouldn't she?) by night, full time opinionated girl. Her personality is bright and friendly but with a somewhat vindictive (though nowhere near as bad as canon if anyone knows it) dark side if she's annoyed and perhaps being free-spirited to a fault. She probably has a "pet" squirrel which she calls a companion. And she's a one-armed wonder and defiant about it. ... I'm unsure if she'd have a prosthetic or not, probably though. As I expect it'd be severed not at the shoulder (like canon).

Not all of this is 100% set in stone, like I do like the idea of her largely being well-liked and popular especially among the adults of her home town (maybe an outcast to the other people her age) but I've been reconciling that with wanting a severed arm for her and not sure if I want to go with birth defect. But this is more set in stone than last time so go with this and confirm with me about if you're still up for things we might've discussed last time in light of this new info? Or I will poke you. I've got a collection of stuff from last time here.

LOOKING FOR: Anything! But I'm open to family as long as I can keep the bumblefuck town backstory, friends who knew her from then or know her now? People she knows from online? Co-workers at the casino in question? Friends? I'm open to anything honestly.
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: I'm pretty set on Nachetanya actually. Like the only other one I'm even vaguely considering as a possibility is Kiritsugu Emiya from Fate/Zero and I think I need less sad old people.

Hmmm well we can either have it be really recent (like within the past 6 months) or push it a little further back, maybe when they were both in the middle of college. They're the same age and both juniors in college so a sophomore fling that turned into an absolute disaster?

And oh yeah I've got some chick named Sakura BUT SINCE SHE'S KINDA NEW TO THE CITY STILL, it's probably best to go with new CR between them.

I mean Nachetanya's new in that it's a few years as opposed to her whole life like Elda but yeah new is probably best in their case.

... I enjoy the idea tbh given Nachetanya is good at hiding whatever crazy there is that Sanji just has this like fear of her no one else understands.

i don't think there's really any opportunities for James and Natasha to have interacted much pre-game, but I think they'd get along if they ever met, as vindictive athletic types! (He will probably disagree with her on at least some of her activist causes though, so they might argue a lot too, idk)

Also at some point they need to do this, except instead of 'hat' it's 'amputation'. Because james recently lost his left arm and it's something that he's struggling with and is very sensitive about. so getting to know someone who's in a similar position might....help him with it? MAYBE???

Oh I would love that same hat moment so much??? Yeah I'm sure how her arm is going to be in the AU quite yet probably missing more at the elbow so she can have a prosthetic but eventually she's going to get a regain for severed at the shoulder? Or maybe I'll have it like that the whole time and just update to how in canon it's ripped off so the whole thing probably isn't near as clean or idek I'm still waffling on that one of my three points of waffling.

BUT YEAH I THINK THEY WOULD TOO. She's. I mean she is surface nice most of the time but she's a bit nasty sometimes under the surface despite all of her bleeding heart... ness.

omg these are ALL GOOD OPTIONS. but yeah while james is new to the whole amputee game, if/when she regains a more severe amputation at any point, james will be like EXCUSE ME, STEP ASIDE FOR THE RESIDENT MYSTERY AMPUTATION EXPERT HERE

she'll probably come off much nicer in general, i think. except for those nasty moments haha. james is just kind of nasty all the time (especially right now with his angst tantrum). maybe they can switch off between who's good cop and who's bad cop depending on their mood on any given day HAHA

Yes. She's also a little older than him, so I'm sure that'll be a factor in their interactions but I'd love to see them hit it off.

God, the interplay does seem fun to me though. Like they can go out for ... salads. Salads are what everyone loves to eat, right? Right?

Hello there!! Zackary here is also from a rural area, his family has a family farm a few hours outside of the city and he grew up there and in a small town nearby, it could have been the same small town in bumblefuck nowhere?? Perhaps he knows her or they went to the same school or something, he's about 5 years older than her so not too much of a difference there. Or perhaps even related? Zack's AU has him having a lot of younger cousins that he took care of and lots of the family (from around the area and NYC) comes to his family's farm for Thanksgivings and Christmas dinners and the like. So there's a few options here if you're interested!

Oh both of those sound fun to me actually. Hmhm I actually love the idea of cousins honestly just because I do like the idea of collecting more family members. Which means it's just as likely they're from the same place and could know each other in that capacity.

Awesome! I like the idea of being cousins as well if you're up for that! Zack's last name is Fairweather if you want them to have the same last name or there can just be marriage things in there somewhere?

Zack is an all round farm boy too, city life is pretty new to him. He would have taken care of her like a brother?

I'll get back to you on the last name, I'm not opposed but I'm still sort of waffling on the specifics of her name in general. I mean her canon name is word soup so changing that is a thing.

But oh that's excellent, yeah! I mean she's capable and self-sufficient (I mean, on paper) but she can be something of an assertive tornado of a woman.

And yes, I'm canon blind, I suspect he wouldn't have to brother over her too much then. XD

But hi yeah! Elliot is 18 and he lived mostly in NYC (his mom was probably from this small town but moved to NYC to make it big as a musician before passing away)-- but he would've visited family a lot during holidays and the summer vacations.

I'd totally be up for Natasha being another cousin! 8D

As a fellow junior and sociology major, she and Jamie would very likely have (or have had) classes together! He's pretty low-key and easy to get along with, and if they ever had a group project, he definitely pulled his weight.

(And in Russian, Natasha's a diminutive of Natalia, so she could be both at the same time if you wanted.)

But no yeah I'm sure they've been classmates a lot particularly this long into undergrad where they're probably knocking out the same stuff all the time. So they probably know each other okay.

So, I saw a few comments above that she is going to be a cousin of Zack's? Olivia grew up in the same town as him and since they are best friends, she knows all of his family members. Which means that these two could have met at some point? She's Zack's age so def more a big sister type person in his cousins lives.

Ah yeah for sure! The gist of what it looks like after working out is that she's going to be Zack's close cousin (who lives in the same and/or a neighboring town? I just wanted her to be from a rural area so) so she would totally know Olivia and have likely grown up around her.

She tries to project self-sufficiency so she's not really one who looks out for mentors but then she is also a girl who lost part of an arm at 11 so. SHRUGS.

I'm pumped for the connection.
