AU WORKSHOP - OCTOBER Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here. IMPORTANT INFORMATION World changes FAQ • As per our game-wide poll, we will be holding an application round in October and in November! After that, apps will resume their bi-monthly schedule. The game calendar has now been updated with the dates for this. • Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM. • For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC! FORM PLAYER'S NAME: CHARACTER'S NAME: CANON: AU NAME: If there's a name change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU AGE: Again, if there's an age change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU OCCUPATION: Feel free to list if your character is a student (elementary/middle/high school/college), if they own their own business, if they freelance, if they have a stable job, etc. BLURB: Here you should write what you have for your AU; you can list your character's hobbies, who their friends and family are, if they have any particular quirks or interesting pieces of their history, if they're from a wealthy family or if they're struggling to get by, anything you feel is relevant. CHARACTER: Nozomi Kaminashi
CANON: Keijo!!!!!!!!
AU NAME: Nozomi Kaminashi
AU AGE: 22? She's fresh out of college and her birthday's in March, so that sounds about right, but I may skew it a little.
AU OCCUPATION: RUNS A CASINO, name pending.
BLURB:
• Doesn't do Keijo because it doesn't exist! No butt olympics for her. She doesn't have any potentially olympic gymnastic prowess either.
• Has at least one parental figure (maybe it's mom, maybe it's dad, maybe it's some old grandma,) and a few siblings.
• Her family's large and poor. They're a real loving and happy family despite the financial insecurity, however. Nozomi's learned how to make money stretch and help care for her family in any way she can since her parent(s) are usually busy working; this love and responsibility to her family has left her always thinking about the best way to provide for her family in the long term as far as career paths are concerned.
• Gets really into two things in high school: boxing because she's very talented as far as sports are concerned and she loves the rush from the competition, and... cooking, because she cooks for her family and has a lot of fun coming up with creative solutions when they can't afford ingredients.
• Out of these cooking is the much safer and more viable long term option, so she looks into culinary school...
• But everything changed when she turned eighteen and won the damn lottery. Like big time. Hundreds of millions, in the hands of someone who's been poor their entire life. Holy shit, alright, where the fuck does she go from here.
• Nozomi does her best to not let the wealth go to her head and ends up changing her college focus to learning how to manage her finances. A lot of money gets invested and put into stocks, and she and her family are more or less set for life.
• So... Now what?
• Her family ends up getting a lot of negative attention now that she's come into money, and she's not here for that, so she ends up taking her entire damn family and moving them over to Recolle!
• The finances are generally kept a secret so that her siblings can have a normal life for a few years. They keep it low key by living the lifestyle of someone well off but not filthy rich, which isn't too hard given that they're all used to living like church mice.
• All is well... But that's. Sort of boring? That's not really good enough. What can they do to make things more interesting? She gathers her siblings together, they discuss things for a bit, and they all very much on an impulse decide to run a casino. Clearly if she can't have her butt gambling she'll have her... other gambling? Yeah. Sounds legit.
• While the idea sprung out overnight, the planning, location, and actual setup takes years. It isn't until Nozomi is out of college that it actually opens.
• She's very tight lipped about her involvement in this to anyone for the sake of keeping things relaxed for her family, which... Isn't hard, because she has no idea how to properly be a rich person and still very much falls on her poor person habits. Her youngest sibling just made it out of high school a couple of months before the opening.
• So her hotel/casino! (name pending) has been open for a few months now and seems to be a pretty big success. 18+ to enter, anyone younger than 21 gets a wristband for no alcohol. She can't hide her involvement at this point, but shrewd businesswoman Nozomi and casual hangout Nozomi seem almost like two different people in terms of intensity.
• Of course, there are already plenty of rumors going around about the owner's generosity... Pretty weird thing to think of when you think casino, huh?
LOOKING FOR:
• FRIENDS. Friends from before all of this nonsense that probably knew Nozomi was a bizarre eccentric person, but not a... rich eccentric person?
• COLLEGE FRIENDS/PREVIOUS CLASSMATES. same verse as the first.
• PREVIOUS GIRLFRIENDS. Oh man it could have ended poorly or just been a fling or ended on good terms, I don't care, I'd just love to have her have some dating history.
• EMPLOYEES. The more pcs that staff this place the better. She would be fairly generous in terms of wages.
• LET ME GIVE YOU A JOB. same verse as first, but people that Nozomi's looked at the situation of and gone "I can help, come work for me."
• REGULARS. Aren't some of you guys from some gambling anime or something come at me
• ETC. I am literally down for anything man please play with my embarrassing butt girl

Katherine actually came from a fairly poor family (complete with a walk-out Dad and an alcoholic mom and the sister she lost contact with) and a bit of a former-delinquent who grew up in San Francisco. Maybe she could remember the girl who suddenly one day made it big? Besides that, she's a counsellor at RU, so I'm guessing there would at least be some level of passing familiarity.

Charlotte here is around the same age as Nozomi (a little younger, probably going with 20ish) and she's still in school but I want them to interact somehow?? Maybe Charlotte comes into the casino and stares longingly at all the money people are wagering...???? SHE WOULDN'T GAMBLE THOUGH but damn do I want this CR somehow!!

Also uh. Potential former classmate, here. Penelope is in her final ish year. It's complicated for reasons, but she's 22, took time off to deal with personal tragedy, typical Final Fantasy stuff. Maybe they even did go on a date or two, but nothing srs, if at all. She's bi and does go for eccentric types.
I'd definitely like to have them know one another at least in passing.

For Sanji: maybe he can be a server at the casino? He's a surprisingly diligent worker despite his background as a mafia brat, basically, and he'd be really intrigued by Nozomi business prowess. Like shit, teach him some of that, girl.
For Sakura: It'd probably be easier if Sakura and Nozomi met up and then became friends since Sakura is new to the city, BUT I NEED. THIS. CR??? SOMEHOW!
