AU WORKSHOP - OCTOBER Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here. IMPORTANT INFORMATION World changes FAQ • As per our game-wide poll, we will be holding an application round in October and in November! After that, apps will resume their bi-monthly schedule. The game calendar has now been updated with the dates for this. • Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM. • For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC! FORM PLAYER'S NAME: CHARACTER'S NAME: CANON: AU NAME: If there's a name change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU AGE: Again, if there's an age change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU OCCUPATION: Feel free to list if your character is a student (elementary/middle/high school/college), if they own their own business, if they freelance, if they have a stable job, etc. BLURB: Here you should write what you have for your AU; you can list your character's hobbies, who their friends and family are, if they have any particular quirks or interesting pieces of their history, if they're from a wealthy family or if they're struggling to get by, anything you feel is relevant. AU NAME: Alexander Cumore
AU AGE: 27
AU OCCUPATION: Prosecuting attorney
BLURB:
♡ Born and raised in Recollé to an extremely wealthy family and promptly spoiled like hell
♡ His parents are deceased but left him a huge inheritance; that said, he's not content to live off of just that and insists on working for what he gets
♡ Has an older sister that he cares about, also an 18-year-old arthritic cat that he's had since he was like nine
♡ Went into the legal field at least partially because he enjoys the notion of people being required by law to listen to him talk
♡ Attended university and law school elsewhere, returned to Recollé after graduation, currently working in the DA's office
♡ Wants to go into politics eventually but for now is content to establish himself in his current field
♡ He's less of a blatant shitshow than his canon counterpart but would happily re-enact the plot of The Devil's Advocate if given the chance
♡ Personality-wise he's kind of a control freak that doesn't handle surprises and unexpected changes to his situation very well
♡ He used to be incredibly shy as a child but more or less forced himself to grow out of it, overcompensated by becoming something of a well-spoken total douchebag
♡ He's...less of a classist asshole than he was in canon, though that's not saying too much; definitely less "poor people are commodities to be used" and more the worst customer service experience ever
♡ Probably won't be quite as big on sending people out to the desert to die, just saying
♡ He will, however, throw so many socialite balls and the like, he quite likes his high-class parties
LOOKING FOR: Colleagues, people in law enforcement, acquaintances (either on good terms or people that just fucking hate his face), wealthy socialites that are here to attend balls because he throws a fucklot of rich-people parties? Literally anything is fine by me, and positive and negative CR are equally welcome! I love both, as well as awkward as hell CR that hits at right angles to everything else.

He did attend school in Recollé up until he left for university, though it was private school rather than public.

I don't know if Derek is a consistent dick. He just really hates people who aren't logical, not competent, or hurts his friends. If Derek is able to pick Cumore's brain and find ways to tease him, Derek will be fairly content.

So that actually works in everyone's favor, from the sound of it. He's also got less of a stick up his ass here given that he's taking things a little slower and not pursuing a bunch of increasingly insane goals, so if Derek wants drinks sometime then he wouldn't be opposed.

I lean towards saying that they're either acquainted coworkers who are faintly aware of their differences and thus stick strictly to keeping it professional OR they don't like each other one bit. I actually have been describing Matt as having an outstanding reputation as an attorney but also earning the envy of some of his coworkers. I don't know if that would include Alexander but it's an option. (Rumor has it Assistant District Attorney Murdock will be the next District Attorney when the current one retires.)

He'll honestly be entirely civil in a working capacity and totally down with keeping it professional despite ideology differences; he's not exactly here for the sake of righting the world's wrongs and all, he's here to do his job, do it well, and eventually progress higher into the circuit - he's highly competent and efficient, but he is still reasonably recent with regards to all this given his age and experience level. He doesn't tend to go envious, per se, and he's totally okay with Matt doing his thing over there; to the guy's face, he's fine with being entirely civil and supportive in a professional sense.

Meanwhile, internally he's just sort of screaming and entirely certain that he's found the sole cause of everything that's wrong with the world, up to and including the Bolivian flu and his flat hair today, and congratulations, Matt Murdock, it's you.
...Basically he will be fine while Matt is around, while Matt is not around he is going to be more or less making a noise not unlike what happens if you leave a tea kettle on too long, because he is highkey competitive and lowkey a mess with classism issues, and as such he is going to hate Matt's face. He will be civil and professionally supportive and very decent overall, but just. Face. Hate. Yes.

So do other people get the pleasure of finding out that Alexander hates Matt or is it a secret? I ask since there might be a couple other haters in the office who would be down with gossiping and being salty together. Of course if they share there's a risk that Matt will hear something down the grapevine.
Or for that matter, there's a chance Matt will hear things straight from the horse's mouth. I don't know if you're familiar at all with Daredevil but Matt's four working senses are all super powerful in canon and he's going to regain that sometime soon. That means he might pick up on not only the whispers across the office if he decides to tune in, but also Alexander's heartbeat and the smell of sweat from getting emotionally worked up on the inside when they're in the same room. There could be a confrontation with Matt saying, "I'm sorry but you seem to be on edge. Am I doing something to make you uncomfortable?"

(What a good Dignified Old Lady. Alexander doesn't deserve her. But somebody needs to balance out the pretentiousness by allowing petting and make his being bearable.)
