Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! AU OCCUPATION: lol lives off inheritance money, BUT. aspiring animal photographer.
BLURB:
* Cousin to Tuuri Hotakainen (permitted by player), though estranged.
* Living that NEET life, yo. Lives alone in a shoebox after his grandmother (who might have been his guardian?? Undecided on if his parents are alive or not, recolle is the city of orphans) passed away.
* Been in the US since he was 8, but he pretends to not know English when he's out so he doesn't have to talk to people, graduated an online school program.
* Eventually there will be magic...he is a magical forest boy.
* Animals > people, except cats because HE IS ALWAYS COMPARED TO A CAT AND HE HATES IT.
* Has a lot of grief/guilt problems he...suppresses until he can't anymore lmao.

LOOKING FOR:
Unfortunately his lifestyle means that he doesn't...get out much and talk to people... But I hear there are people playing an mmo??? He could do that. If someone's a cashier they probably see him drop by once every two weeks, and he runs at night, though he would avoid anyone who started to come near him.
He went to public school for elementary and middle years, as well as part of his freshman year of high school, but he didn't make any friends. He was always the weird, Finnish kid with bad English (in elementary, but pretended it was bad going forward) that didn't seem to understand literally anything. BUT if anyone wants to have vaguely known him from being in the same class or from bullying him at the time, let me know?

CHARACTER: Kojuro Katakura
CANON: Sengoku Basara

AU NAME: Kagetsuna Katakura (his parents thought it would be cool. Also I'm lazy.)
AU AGE: 29
AU OCCUPATION: He's a bouncer for a high-end club (or two) in the evenings, but works at a garden store part-time on weekdays.

BLURB:
-He's an ex-Yakuza! If it's an AU game where you can run with crazy things, go nuts?
-More specifically, he was a bodyguard for one of their higher and respected members, who was like a father figure to him and raised him (surprisingly well) after his parents passed away.
-He has seen Some Shit, like corruption and general unpleasant not-legal things.
-Kagetsuna didn't grow up in Recolle, but it was a sort-of vacation spot of his dad/boss and where said dad/boss was hoping to land some good business ties to leave. He put the bonds with his subordinates first though, so that dream never came to real fruition.
-There are some debts that Kagetsuna was left with unfortunately when yakuza dad died. They're manageable and by old contacts who respect them but need that money. So nothing intense, but debts are there for a guy to deal with.
-Rather than try to make those payments by way of illegal mobster, he moved to Recolle for a regular life where he can almost feel like he's living.
-Does not like cops. He's mostly clean and only had one bad run-in with them back during dumb teenage years, but he's just wary because yeah, thanks adopted yakuza family.
-The night job as a bouncer is actually the one he likes! because it's kind of exciting and fun in a guilty pleasure gossip-insider sort of way.
-The above job experience (and more) does mean he knows how to fight off a person and took training for taking them down without severe injury (and lawsuits), but he generally won't use it unless it's on the job.
-Day job is for the in-store discounts and extra money on the side, retail is still terrible. He's willing to suffer though for his children.
-Green leafy children. His garden and plants are his babies.

-Personality stuff: He puts up an distant, unfriendly front… but get him to talk more and he's surprisingly nice, just rough around the edges.
-Some bark and the very rare bite, but his bite is actually kind of scary though!
-Is there something to say about fetch though with idiom, he likes being busy/working
-(secretly) Enjoys playing straight man to weird stuff and actually likes eccentric people even if he gets annoyed.
-Hella respectful to those he thinks deserve it, and it's not a hard standard. Also good to kids.
-He's normally more introverted and keeps to himself, but when Retrospec/Recolle's "reality" hits him (where did blue go?), his lack of tolerance for bullshit can't take it and he needs company to deal.

LOOKING FOR:
-People he sees at either job! They can be regular customers or he was just super helpful that one time. Or he was terrifying.
-Coworkers! He might work for Goro Majima's Host Club, but the garden center is something more generic.
-Neighbors? For now I'll say he lives in Maple Valley.
-Folks trying to befriend him like it's a challenge because that's always fu.
-Conversely, those who are curious because Recolle is supposed to be all nice and quiet(?), then you have a guy who looks like a yakuza.
-Please teach him fun and how to enjoy life.

She sounds so dope?? I don't know much to say about all of her cool things that she does other than Majima employs Tuuri so they could meet through them at some point I imagine

not until checkmate gets fully translated tho

I swear if this happens, it will be hard to fight off the urge to app in Hiccup next chance I get.

CHARACTER: Tifa Lockhart
CANON: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

AU NAME: idk...Tiffany?? Probably won’t change her name much.
AU AGE: 24-25ish. Mid twenties
AU OCCUPATION: I have a few ideas, in order of how fun I find them:
- Former MMA competitor that supplements her income by sometimes hawking various sports/protein drinks (she is in commercials), currently works as a kickboxing/aerobics/spin...SOME KIND OF FITNESS instructor who went to a fancy fine arts school to be a classical pianist before she decided it wasn't her sort of deal
and two:
- Alternatively, a nanny that is also a kickboxing instructor part time bc that's hilarious to me
lastly:
- a bartender is literally my last ditch effort laziest response but i'd do that too
BLURB: Tifa in canon is the emotional support and rock of her various canon friends, who suffers from a lack of emotional honesty and emotional shyness herself. Is in the monk class as far as Final Fantasy goes, which means she has super strength and can punch things really hard. Moreover a lot of her canon development and growth is tied (fortunately or unfortunately) to her sometimes vaguely defined, will-they-won't-they relationship with troubled hero, Cloud Strife. Tifa was a former ecoterrorist, who feels great regret and guilt over this and a billion other things.

My Tifa AU I'd want to separate her some from her canon self and give myself a chance to develop her away from her biggest canon relationship, but on a wider scale since she literally won't remember him. I'm wanting to play her as something of an adventurous spirit (if the ideas about her occupation above weren't an indicator) who has to ease into the role of protector and nurturer rather than automatically being slotted into it bc she's a girl from a 90s jrpg.

A few bullet points:
- was a Popular Kid in elementary/high school because she's still pretty approachable and nice even in an AU
- also bc she fought bullies. her desire to help others has extended to being the Mom Friend and also the Scary Guard Dog Friend
- Tried REALLY hard to get into classical performances per her parents' wishes, but it really wasn't for her. she likes playing but it didn't resonate with her as a career
- still an excellent pianist though. plays for her parents' guests during major holidays
- her dad is disappointed in her job choices, her mom is less so but worries about her messing up her beautiful face bc then how can she get married!!
- in other words they are pretty traditional but mean well
- she sort of lets them steamroll her on occasion and smiles and nods because she loves her mom and dad
- quietly is a little resentful though. has not managed to fully stand up to them yet. she'll fight everyone!! for her friends. will she fight her parents? no.
- she owns a motorcycle. they definitely had heart attacks
- with or without her parents' nagging her she kind of does? want to settle down with boyfriend or girlfriend and start a family but she's had a few relationships that haven't worked out in that direction. tends to be people who see her as something she's not really and inevitably end up disappointed, or people who want to change her into a weird ideal, so she's withdrawn a lot and her current potentials are usually people she sees a couple of times and then will ghost on even if she actually likes them bc she scared. MAYBE ONE DAY...
- she comes off as super confident and self-assured until someone gets to know her where they realize she is kind of shy and not as outgoing as her outward appearance would suggest
- not as big of a pushover as she is in canon though. overall a little rougher around the edges which is hilarious bc she lived in the dystopian hood for years but moving on
- without all that 'i was a horrible terrorist' stuff pulling her down a lot of her guilt and feelings of inadequacy are related to sometimes feeling like she's letting her parents down. it's not nearly as bad as it was in canon tho so she’s more independent and more confident in her own decisions. her struggles are less extreme
- is still stubbornly doing her own thing though in the hopes they'll come around
- sometimes they set her up on dates and she's just like, 'kill me.'
- is a huge romantic gushy nerd however, just hasn't found the right person. just wants someone to like her for...her. :( single tear
- a big fan of dolphins and sea life
- doesn't like the cold. It’s a mystery!
- does like to cook! and bake. and probably knit.
- is jacked

LOOKING FOR: anything is a cop-out answer but: anything
- exes of all stripes are welcome, including people she went on like one date with and then ghosted on
- coworkers! former and current

also carmen would straight up name all her scholarships after female pioneers in the various fields they're for, particularly ones who don't tend to get a lot of recognition

She thinks she's dope (but mostly she's a huge nerd in disguise), so yes probably they will meet when she decides to come visit her friends' workplaces and embarrass them! She's definitely the type to just show up randomly and unannounced.

once tuuri and majima tired on barbie clothes when everyone was small. and by that i mean majima tried them on and tuuri supervised

ugh he was gonna get a solo room and then surprise roomie. he'll mind it until he sees who it is I GUESS

I MEAN AT THE MOMENT IT'S MOSTLY JUST FOR KICKS but the thought of a slow descent into "hold on, you'll never believe what i just remembered stealing" has been making me laugh for at least a week or two now

AU OCCUPATION: a suffering university student majoring in engineering and a cat café employee!
BLURB:

♢ his memories only go as far as his time at a recollé's orphange, which for the most part was pretty uneventful. his real parents died in an accident, but he doesn't know much more than that. ended up being adopted pretty quickly thanks to being on the quieter side and showing early signs of having a high iq.
♢ his eq, unfortunately, compensates for that. he's bad with people and he's bad at expressing himself; it doesn't help that he looks and acts like a wannabe thug half the time without intending to. he wears a medical mask because he's been sick during term and never again and constantly has his hood pulled up because of his social anxiety. he speaks his mind more often than not, and to put it most simply, he's a chuuni and genuinely believes he's being cool. (please like him......)
♢ surprise surprise, has a heart of gold underneath everything and is pretty easy to take advantage of. probably (definitely) tears up during every dog movie. high-pitch screams when he's snuck up on and the like.
♢ he's good with his hands! more often than not, he's fixing or running odd jobs for the café rather than waiting. it's a café his adoptive parents own, so he feels inclined to do his best at it even though he constantly has no idea what he's doing.
♢ likes small things and animals but has no idea how to handle them in the slightest. fiercely protective of the things he likes-- will probably catch a grenade for you if he likes you enough, literally.
♢ that being said, he's a sweetheart that will do a lot of things for his friends, including but not limited to awkwardly put together care packets and late night errand runs for you at 3am.

LOOKING FOR:
