ahaha i think i told you this at some point, but i simply adore the au you went with. i think it achieves exactly what you described while also giving you an amazing point for development; obviously midousuji has a lot more potentials for a true support system and i'm definitely watching him in game. i've always loved your akira but seeing where you take him with an au that'll force him to examine his options like this by giving him another way to connect to his Reason For Yellow is exciting; you've always done an excellent job with portraying his relationship with his mother.

HMMM... that's a hard question, because homestuck is homestuck, and i don't think jade ever really got a break in her canon lmao. for jade herself, i'd really love her for her to deal with her feelings of loneliness in canon. as such, the three year journey she did on her own is near the top of my list, and i'm curious to see if this would launch her into a depression like in canon and force her to deal with her friends and family trying to be close to her or just result in her being super clingy. AS YOU MAY REMEMBER, sometimes what i plan out may not be what happens icly, depending on things. rp characters are so fickle. that said, i'm also hella looking forward to any grimbark related memories i can get because her mother in game - elizabeth from bishock - has a similar experience. [s] game over didn't help with any healing FOR ME PERSONALLY, so. i really want to see some kind of healing for jade from that; it's obviously a big thing to be, you know. possessed and used to hurt everyone you care about only to die like the wicked witch in the wizard of oz, so i think that'd be both a way for jade to get much needed discussion about her feelings. she's very bad at that because jade doesn't rock the boat toooo much on her friendships. i think that'd be an interesting way to get her to confront that. that said, i think the aforementioned three year journey regain would be able to do that, too, just in a different way.

do you have any hopes for akira in game? are there any things you want to specifically touch on for him, whether it's because you think it'd be interesting or just because yo wanna?

The facial scar would be A Lot and I want to more or less confuse him and see how things are going to play out, esp since the armpit scar is actually canonically more awful than the facial scar

To lift the veil a little, mostly no, but occasionally yes.

No: In that I am rarely, if ever, actually triggered or made nervous about a work of fiction at this point. It's all fiction and it doesn't really phase me anymore. I'm not deeply worried about getting Chloe 'wrong,' and I have a few RP partners that, if they see something that makes them raise an eyebrow, will call me on it privately. I'm always open for constructive critique, but I'm not really nervous with Chloe anymore.

Yes: The truth is that Noir isn't a 'comfortable' anime. On the surface, it's pretty tame as killer vixen assassin flicks go, so there's not a lot that might make people freak out on the surface. Just girls with guns shooting people and having 'feelings' as the truth is revealed. But, if one reads between the lines, Altena's backstory is trigger hell, Chloe is an unquestionable sociopath who is creepily obsessed with Kirika, Kirika's a massive headcase whose emotional fabric shatters several times in the series, and the 'nicest' member of the cast, Mireille, is basically a remorseless murderer for hire. Their victims range from the completely innocent to the worst scum imaginable, and a few of the scenes get just a little creepy. Chloe, in particular, does things that make people who pay attention to her actions and her motives understandably uncomfortable.

I personally do not shy away from it, but I also recognize that I do not as a player want other players uncomfortable. Opt-outs are all well and good. I've used them for years, and 95% of the time they work perfectly. People who aren't comfortable come to me, we hash it out, and they never have to worry about Chloe, or if they prefer it, me. But there's always that 5%. Maybe they didn't realize they were triggered until it was too late, maybe they weren't comfortable coming to the other player because they worried it might make them feel bad, maybe just something changed down the road. I'm almost always a bit of a perpetual worrier about whether or not a new player I don't know well is going to be bothered by Chloe's canon in a way that impedes their own enjoyment.

Reaver and Sam were also the same way. I usually don't play 'comfortable' characters like Shayla Shayla (another old muse of mine) that often. I like head games, darker storylines and moral questions to come up. So, I gravitate towards characters that I know sometimes make people not quite so comfortable. (God, Reaver is just awful if you don't know the Fable franchise.) So, I think this worry tends to haunt me in almost every game, and since MidSyn it's taken me a while to get more or less comfortable getting out there in a new game.

Whoops, sorry for the mouthful there. But, short version: Not really worried about Chloe, but always very concerned about others' comfort zones.

I am enjoying playing Allen without his Innocence! I play him in another game where he has his Innocence, and while i enjoy playing with his powers a lot, they tend to be way overpowered for most situations in RP (i mean jfc he's a mix of spiderman and wolverine, can also see demons coming from 300 yards away, and make portals like a fucking quick jump option wtf). Which that alone can be a bit frustrating, since I have to keep coming up with plausible explanations for why fights with him last longer than 5 seconds. So not having to worry about that? Is awesome. It's fun to explore the character and how he handles things without any godmoddy powers.

I mean eventually I do plan to have him get his powers back, but I'm in no rush to do that. Though when it does happen, you can bet he's going to demand a rematch with Ryoga and make Ryoga cry with happiness.

QUESTION: Is Ryoga going to start turning back into a pig and how would he react to that?

i actually don't think it's too bare bones at all - i think, in fact, it's just detailed enough to give you wiggle room. not to mention, ardyn himself is a mysterious guy and his role in canon, while a touch obvious, was still shrouded in mystery. even when you do find out what his deal is, it's very much a shock (or. it was to me LMAO)

i'm glad you brought up the villain thing though because i wanted to ask about that. obviously there's just going to be differences between and au and ou but recolle, being a reincarnation au of sorts, kind of falls in between; do you think ardyn will eventually fall in the vein of being a villain again? or is it a little bit difficult to predict at the moment?

HER MAMA IS NUMBER ONE BUT I FEEL LIKE THAT'S LESS INTERESTING so i'm just gonna leave all the spots for cr. but please know that anya doesn't love anyone more than her mama. i'm also going to take out people like chuuya, grell, makoto and miwa (the people that she directly addresses by family names always) bc she's a sucker for family and that's already more than three LMFOASD;F

Yato is the closest second though - which is counter-intuitive because Yato doesn't have a job, he's homeless, he's kind of explosive but. Anya has honestly seen Yato failure more than anyone else. However she's also seen Yato keep trying and maintain his kindness more than anyone else. She respects that. Anya has a lot of things given to her, she knows that. People treat her sweetly and give her the benefit of the doubt but honestly, Yato doesn't always get that. (It's also what has Anya a little bristly whenever someone implies something even vaguely negative about Yato because she wants to make sure he only hears good things.) But despite all the things he goes through, he does everything he can to chase after his own happiness and she wishes that she cared that much about - well, anything.

Jade probably comes after that. Jade has the most in common with Anya's interests, except she's like. Even More Dedicated than Anya is to the stars. So she admires Jade's pursuit of the stars and her willingness to dedicate herself to her interest, which includes taking college classes for it?? That's so impressive. Anya also thinks that Jade is incredibly kind and peppy and outgoing but is never, ever boring. Jade seems like the kind of person who can always make friends with people and has a quiet sort of drive that's able to motivate her through anything and everything that Anya wants to mimic. Like she's sweet to everyone and still able to be sweet to herself and give herself focus.

Yuuko is also there because LMFAO GOD. YUUKO IS. NEVER. BORING. EVER. OH MY GOOOD. She always has something fun and exciting to say, even if it's a little risque or surprising sometimes?! She's so bold... Anya wants to be that bold. (no one needs anya that bold) But also Yuuko is very sweet and caring to the people that she gets close to. Also Yuuko is looking for love and is so open about it and is such a cute romantic and never embarrassed about being true to herself (as far as Anya can tell) sO YEAH, ANYA JUST LOVES YUUKO A LOT. Yuuko gives her advice in the middle of the night and is generally just amazing. shakes head.

honorable mentions also go out to Dave and Yuri for being amazing dancers and still having more direction than Anya but also Ryoji and Jake because they travel and Anya loves to hear stories about different parts of the globe. and Nobu for also having something that she's really good at and - i'm giving up there's so much here i'm just gonna put this into a plurk meme

I actually have it really easy re. AU memory regains because in canon Ryoji starts off with zero memories too, and when he learns that he's the personification of death, he basically shuts down and wants to die and distances himself from everybody. FUN TIMES. His relationships here are much better than in canon though (which is practically nonexistent except for like... two people, maybe) so at least it'll go over better!

It was between him and Nikkari on the swords front because I'm in this hell, as we all know. But I had also written a Kanesan app already so it kind of came down to who was more convenient.

BUT FOR A MORE FUN ANSWER I liked the idea of not only exploring him as a legitimate human, but also Kanesan as a legitimate human who doesn't necessarily need his own personal Horikawa to look after him. And then with the regains he'll get in the future on top of who he is in this au, that just makes for an interesting ride full of feels and possible angst and a whole lot of hair trauma.

i'm gonna do both because i love both questions fuq u. anyway - there aren't a lot of differences? but, i am going to say that jade has a bit of a wolf pack thing to her thanks to growing up in such a tight knit family. the wolfs have been through a lot, and jade's very attached to her mother and father. she grew up alone in canon, so this is obviously a major difference. however, thanks to the part where her parents were both hard workers who had a bunch of a rough upbringing themselves, she's very, very protective of people she cares about to the point that she offers to walk her friends home if she's worried they might be in danger. i really like this aspect of her because i find it to be the thing that makes her the most obviously bigby and elizabeth's kid - or rather, the thing that makes her most obviously a version of herself with family.

so first I would recommend the anime?! idk what you're preferred watching site is but here is the first season (and there's a second season!) because the anime is a ) gorgeously animated b ) well-written and c ) gives a solid amount of attention to all the girls, including Anya. Because Anya is one of the first girls to get put into a unit and given work SO THE ANIME IS VERY GOOD.

The game isn't out in English but there are translations out! I have a small personal post of all the Anya resources (videos + comics + dance videos) if you're interested in a link to that HAHA.

I would like Ryoga to start turning back into a pig! There are only two things:
-I think it's going to take a while with the regain system, because I also want him to get back things like the ability to make other people incredibly depressed and his stupid rhythmic gymnastics ability
-About half the angst he has about turning into a pig stems from it being an obstacle to his One True Love, so I'd like to have someone like that in game for optimal stupid misery

I think he'd be... upset, but without anyone to blame it on? Which is to say he'd be a dramatic princess about it.

I remember Allen having white hair... was that just because I was reading b&w manga scans and his hair was red all along? Or did he used to have red hair in canon? Or is it just a Recolle thing?
