I. - CURRENT PLAYERS + TDMERS
It's been days since the firewall took over the city of Recollé. The heat is still present even in mid-January and though the wall has consumed much of the outer edges of the city, the buildings and innerworkings of each district are unaffected and still standing tall. Firefighters are working endlessly to try and put out the flames and combat the issue, but the flames only begin to lessen as Retrospec users work together to curb the fire and stop it from spreadng.

This might be the time to jump in and help. Previously, you may have tried to help and found your efforts futile. Those new to the app may even have found themselves thinking the flames were best left to the professionals once the assessment was made that there would be minimal damage. However, there seems to be a power tied to that new app on your phone. Should you attempt to help put out the flames, your efforts shall be rewarded and a pathway will open into a tunnel of fire with a series of doors spread before you.

With many of you finding your way through the firewall and unlocking the doors within, progress is being made to wear down the security measures. Points in the wall will begin to crumble under touch alone and rows and rows of doors begin to appear. The flames are starting to die down outside, but it becomes clear that it's not just a few chambers you must explore. Several thousands of doors are scattered amongst the flames waiting for you to approach. Luckily you won't have to open all of them. The silver doors loom in the distance, but thanks to the efforts of the last two weeks, identifying the doors is much easier than before.

While several of the doors that have been opened are easy to navigate, users will come to find that as they approach a new door an error message will appear and block the path to the door. These messages will not appear on doors that do not contain keys, though this pattern may not be obvious at first. Sometimes the messages will appear just by walking in any of the cardinal directions inside the fire tunnel, popping up right in front of your face and forcing you to walk straight into them. These pop-ups can be dismantled via physical force or magic, though you may wish to be careful. Anyone who directly touches these messages will find themselves…multiplying? Oh dear. Two, three, or even four copies of yourself will appear and begin to wander off not only in the tunnels but back through the wall and out in the city of Recollé. Users who are split apart will have to round up all versions of themselves to become whole again, and the clones themselves will be more than happy to wander as they please, posing as you and attempting to deter others from progressing. Good luck getting them to stop.

II. - CURRENT PLAYERS + TDMERS
The pop-ups aren't the only issue users will begin to experience the longer they linger in the wall. As Retrospec users continue navigating these routes and clearing the paths needed to break down the firewall, things begin to grow a little more difficult to manage. Though the passages of the doors appear to be fine and users can enter new areas to obtain keys, it seems as though there's something bigger that wants to stop the progress occurring.

Users with Retrospec-given abilities will find difficulty in using their powers in ways they've never experienced before. Superstrength gives out after two seconds while shapeshifting will leave you stuck in that form for three days. Magic is on the fritz and spells will backfire, kicking back and damaging yourself for every spell you attempt to use. A small ball of light will escape your fingertips, draining you of your abilities and gifting them to someone else temporarily (though they won't know how to control them the way you do.) The trouble with it all is that no method is the same, and even if you experience a glitch once an outside force will change the consequences so they do not repeat.

You may think to check your phone for answers. Can you Google how to fix your own powers? While a search engine won't be of any use, users will find that the Retrospec app's logo has a new, upgraded appearance. Five of the eight inner petals have will appear gray in color while the remaining three are untouched. A sixth petal is colored halfway in. Should a user activate the app while in the city, they will find that everything around them will pause in a freezeframe. Birds will stop mid-flight, cars will be stopped in the middle of intersections, firehoses will have frozen arches of water aimed to the flames…everything is perfectly still save for other users.

As for those who activate the app inside the firewall, time will become fluid and change around you. Everything seems to move at hyperspeed, actions on fast-forward and time skipping ahead. Your actions will also be at the speed of light, and should you manage to accomplish your goals inside the wall and beyond the doors, a return to the city will show that much more time has passed than you anticipated. Hours or even days have escaped you even if it felt like no time at all.

With some trial and error, users can discover that a hard reset of their phone and re-opening the app will undo these effects. However, it may not be so easy seeing how the app will appear and disappear intermittently. Be quick; you may miss it if you blink.

III. - CURRENT PLAYERS ONLY
It seems a bit suspicious that Retrospec's gone quiet throughout all of this, doesn't it. There hasn't been word from the company since Joanne's last message about the firewall, and as usual any attempt to contact the company is futile. The message from delta#02018329 on the 13th was the last form of communication from anyone tied to Retrospec and since then all has been quiet. The animal guides from before are hard at work helping users discover new paths and find the keys, knowing they need to work quickly.

On the 24th, the firewall begins coming down in large chunks, falling away and shattering into embers when destroyed by an established user. The wall reveals the lines of doors surrounding the city and as of this date the temperature begins to drop again. Good job, users. You've almost fully dismantled the blockade. However, the wall isn't finished yet.

Beginning on this day as well, established users will become public enemy number one for the operator of the wall. A string of bad luck begins to follow you in an attempt to deter you from finishing your task of destroying this wall. Ranging from small feats such as misplacing your phone to larger feats such as removing all doors and windows from a building you're in, these attempts can be easily broken with enough willpower or simply waiting it out. For the truly unlucky, even NPCs will grow suspicious of you and begin to question you, asking you what's changed about you and why you and only you are the one who can put out the flames when the fire department has been working so hard.

Most importantly, however, are the small showers of green sparks that will appear over the city, sprinkling on you from overhead and dousing you in an invisible sheen. An equally invisible force feels as though it's pulling you down quickly despite standing in one place, and when the feeling passes…well. You may wonder what this strange app is on your phone and why you have it. It's new, isn't it? Wonder what it could be. You've never heard of Retrospec before, you think, but it can't be that interesting.

Perhaps you haven't slipped that far. You may be one of those who finds yourself with gaps in your memory, or items on-hand you don't quite recall having before. Images will flash through your mind even if you can't pinpoint where you've experienced these things before. And, of course, there's the fact that you may even literally slip between layers in the city, entering a door in the firewall and falling down into a plain white room. This washed-out castle-esque hall will make navigation difficult as the doorway to return blends into the walls. It only takes a trick of jogging your memory and recalling your true purpose to outline the door. What does it mean to jog your memory? This can be anything from sharing a memory you don't understand to showing off an item or ability and brainstorming its purpose. You will only understand the truth and remember everything upon leaving this castle, but until then? Time to brainstorm.

IV. - TDMERS ONLY
It's a little alarming to suddenly wake up and have a brand new app on your phone that connects you to a special group of people, isn't it? This may not be what you were expecting, but the Retrospec app seems harmless even if it's a bit unusual. With the power necessary to help combat the flames, perhaps you're the type who isn't even worried about what's happening. There's a job to do, after all.

Upon opening the app for the first time though you'll receive a message from a user named Z.C.

You're probably confused right now and I get it, this is really confusing. I was confused, too. But you have to be on-guard. Looks like you're a fresh target.

That's an ominous warning, and yet nothing comes from it for several days. In fact, it isn't until the 25th that those words hold some weight. It seems that there's someone out there who doesn't feel like you belong. No matter where you stand or what's happening for you at that given moment, at the stroke of midnight a large crater will open beneath you and swallow you whole, sending you straight down. The fall feels endless but as you land you'll find yourself standing on barren, gray ground surrounded by a black night sky, spiderweb cracks spreading from the center and moving outward. The world around you is dark and above you you can hear the sounds of the city and the people in it. The sounds of your fellow app-users combatting the wall of fire and even some of the ongoings of what's happening to them beyond the doors echo in this dark chamber.

The space around you is dead. There isn't a single sign of life sans what looks like a large, 80-foot whale skeleton. Even that appears abandoned, though there are footprints in the dirt near the creature's mouth. You aren't the first to arrive, but getting back will be the trick of it all. Someone wants you hidden away, but finding a clever way to reach out to those in the layer beyond will grant you an exit. Shouting, throwing items on hand, anything you can think of to create a diversion and draw attention to yourself may help. The louder you are, the thicker the cracks in the sky grow. It'll take a combination of people working below and people working above to break this barrier. Don't be afraid to reach out. It may be your only way back home.

BONUS.
The firewall gave a good effort, but in the end the power behind the Retrospec users was too much to sustain it for long…or was it? On the 31st the rest of the firewall seems to crumble and turn into smoke and ash as though the force holding it up cut its losses and quit. Several wolf-shaped figures appear from the smoke and surround the city, spreading ash as far as the eye can see before running off in the direction of Magatus. A sharp crackling noise like glass shattering rings through your ears and the wall and the layer below disappear for good. Congratulations, users. It seems as though you've broken down the barriers standing in your way.

However…there's still the matter of all of this ash and dust to take care of. Grab a broom, a dustbuster or a friend. It's time to do some major clean-up on the city and get it back to normal.

For those who venture to Tisse though, looking up to the very top of the towers will show a set of windows that have been dark and dimmed for several months. As the night wears on, however, the lights begin to flicker on until the entire floor is lit. There isn't any way up to the top of the building just yet, but for every light that comes on it seems that the amount of ash lessens. Is there a correlation? Or is it just someone from above helping you out? Only time will tell.

For the split-off clones, it says that they're posing as you and deterring others from progressing, so they must differ from the original at least a little. A couple questions:

-Do they differ from the original in personality, or are they basically the same except for a change of priorities?
-Do they have all the memories of the original?
-Do they have all the powers of the original?

Hey again!! So for these glitches in prompt II, it's everything that could reasonably be listed as an ability in our regain registries, right? And not things like robot parts/appearance-related things. That's what makes sense to me, but I wanted to double-check on that just to see if giving robotics to others is on the table. And/or if Anna needs to worry about losing her metal heart at any point, because I'm very kind to my characters and love them very much.

[ James is looking for people who've entered doors or are about to enter doors, anyone at all, and chasing them down. Once he's within earshot, he yells, or even grabs someone's wrist to physically keep them from moving any further. ]

Hey, what do you think you're doing? We can't enter these new doors, didn't you see the error messages? Whatever's in there, we're not built to handle it. We need to stay out here and keep the city from falling apart!

III. welcome to regain roulette hell


[ Starting on the 24th, James begins having a bad time, to put it lightly. He doesn't just fall through the layers--it's almost as if he's on a rollercoaster through them.

a. Maybe you catch him when he's fallen through the layers into a freakishly empty, freakishly white room. He seems to have reverted back to the age he used to be, eighteen years old, and he's fucking pissed. He kicks and punches the walls, both looking for an exit as well as venting. He screams, in hopes someone will hear him and actually give him some damn answers. ]

Where the hell am I? Who's keeping me in here?! How do I get out of here!

[ b. Or maybe you get temporarily blinded by the light reflecting off the incredibly shiny outfit and shield of this one dumbass. Was he standing there a minute ago? It seems like he just appeared out of nowhere--and he seems to be equally confused about it too, staring down at himself.

c. Or maybe you find him trying to explore yet more doors, despite whatever is happening to him! It's slow going, though. He pauses every few minutes, losing his train of thought and also a huge chunk of his memories. The clothes he's wearing change, his appearance changes altogether, like he's glitching between ages and outfits and even arms. One moment he'll have his metal arm; the next, a regular flesh arm; the next, no arm at all. He ends up leaning against the wall for support, trying to ride it out. ]

[ She has to be dreaming. There is absolutely not other way to explain how Raina seems to be skulking around the city, following her various copies - clones, she guesses? it's weird - and trying to figure out what exactly they're up to.

In anime - because yeah, she's a fucking nerd - there's only one option, and while they might attempt to talk to you, beg with pleading eyes to stop doing these weird things, it's not normal, it seems that someone's had enough of this nonsense to actually step in (spoilers: she's actually running) as she punches the copy right in the gut in what could almost be considered comedic. ]

You're not going to fall for what that fake says, are you?

[ The copy seems to be reeling from the pain, clutching her stomach quite a bit before frowning and retorting: ]

"How dare you! Don't be fooled, she's the one that's lying, can't you see?"

[ This sure is a conundrum to solve. Help? ]

[ That message sure is ominous, and honestly? Raina isn't sure if she actually trusts it, either, given the mysterious username along with how the application seems to have shown out of scenic nowhere.

But if she's going to learn a little more about her situation, she'll just have to.push forward and figure it out on her own. She was always good at that, after all. Even if she had no true friends, information was power.

And she was good at listening to gossip. ]

[ Even with whatever information she's gathered up, none of that can prepare her for the floor opening up beneath her feet, causing her to scream as it's too late to save her as she's already caught in the danger before she finds herself in a completely different location, seemingly alone.

Although she can't help but grimace at the skeleton, internally panicking but not showing any external signs as to not show any weakness but she does start to wander around, her hands clutching at her school bag as she calls out: ]

I'll try to explain as succinctly as I can, but I'm warning you in advance that things are complicated.

First of all: does the fact that the city is surrounded by a wall of fire strike you as strange in any way?

II: Shouldn't you be in bed!?

They let Togusa out of the hospital under strict orders to not be alone. In theory, he and Daisuke are going to be visiting with Koutarou for a while, just so that someone else is there while he is sleeping.

But the city is still on fire.

For people who don't know Togusa, or didn't hear about his stint in the hospital, he is moving slowly and gingerly, but is hanging around near the edges of one of the fires. When the familiar tunnel opens up again, he sets his jaw, and he starts to walk towards it, clearly intending to go challenge one of the doors again.

[OOC: I've got an idea for a scenario written up, entirely stealth and puzzle-based, that involves breaking into a rich guy's mansion. May involve robot dogs.]

III: A terrible fate has befallen you

One moment, Togusa was fully intending to just go home. And then the next? A white blank room, with all the details washed out. Almost like a template from an old computer scenario?

Maybe it's the painkillers he's still taking, but the moment he steps in, Togusa just loses all motivation to keep moving forwards and just sits down. There's no fire here, there's no urgency here. Maybe he can rest for a second, like his body is desperately wanting him to.

Shuji has seen the state Togusa was in and knows what kind of heavy-duty painkillers he must be on right now. So when he spots Togusa just sitting down in the weird blank room, he can hardly blame him for needing to take a break.

He sits down close beside.

"Hey."

I - when one isn't enough

After one too many interesting trips behind those silver doors, Li-Na isn't all that keen on going through any more. But... if they're going to take down the barriers so Zee can get back to the city, then she's going to have to suck it up and open as many doors as possible.

She was not expecting the weird error message to pop up in front of her when she tries to approach a new door. Annoyed, she does what her natural instinct is now when something is in her way. Kick it. But as the message shatters into a myriad of tiny pieces, something rather unexpected happens.

Another Li-Na appears. Then a third, a fourth, a fifth... A moment after she smashes the message, Li-Na is surrounded by five copies of herself. For a moment, they just look at her... and then they scatter, because they each have what seem to be a copy of her Innocence as well.

"No, wait! Come back!"

II - how do you fix what you never broke

It shouldn't be possible... but here we are. Li-Na is out at the firewall, breaking it down further with her Mist Wind attacks when suddenly it's like all the oomph goes out the technique. What was once a tall, narrow twister suddenly shrinks until it's only a loose dust spinner only a meter tall.

Li-Na tries the technique again... only to have the resulting spinner unwind the moment it strikes the firewall. With a frustrated cry, she tries to jump up, put some of her own rotation into it. But she doesn't even get two feet off the ground. Her boots thud heavily against the concrete as she slams back to the ground.

"No... oh, no no no... this can't be happening."

[Derek wasn't very far away from Li-Na when she suddenly stopped being able to use your boots. He wasn't using his magic for the time being. He did NOT need to barf up more slugs. No. Instead he was using buckets of water. He frowns when Li-Na starts freaking out.]

[After the series of events that is Crow's life this month, an ad for what is essentially a massage therapist sounded like heaven.

Still, doesn't hurt to ask--because he's really that hard-pressed for someone to step on him. No seriously, step on his back he's got a kink right between his shoulders he can't get ride of and it's probably from stress.]

No no no no no she can't lose this too, Lina finds herself thinking frantically as she's chasing the ball of light that just came out of her body. She doesn't know what she's lost yet but she ends up chasing it outside, into the streets near her apartment, and almost can't get through the door because she's so used to only using a fraction of her strength that the door doesn't even budge and then she understands entirely what's at stake.

It's the only thing she has left that makes her able to keep people safe. It's the only thing she can do to be useful to people when food and love won't cut it (and food and love hadn't cut it for months now). And it's getting the hell away and she can't let that happen—and then she sees it sink into somebody else, but she doesn't even process who it is yet before she's running up to them and sounding desperate.

"Please. Please, you need to give that back to me."

b. i can't run, i can't hide [a more different ii]

This isn't exactly what Lina had had in mind when she'd quietly begged into the uncaring night for things to stop. She looks around her at the only sign of motion nearby, and since she was actually trying to open the app to see who else she's lost today, she has to assume they're a Retrospec user.

"This is new," she says as she carefully walks up, and hopefully they aren't just as new to the app. Her attention is more on some of the completely frozen things around her—the firewall seems to have brought back a few birds that wouldn't usually be here so early, and even just looking at those mid-flight has her a little distracted. "It isn't supposed to do this when we open it, right?"

I -- and behind door number one

On the one hand, he's not hearing good things about the doors, and the one he went through with Derek had been... irritating. But clearly something it happening. The wall of fire is coming down more easily, more doors are appearing... Zee seems to think they need to open the doors, but Tatsuo is still not entirely sure whose side Zee is on. Theirs? Retrospecs? Vanderweele? He wants to trust Zee... but he's not convinced yet. All he can do is keep fighting the fire and investigate an open door if he finds one.

Of course, it takes two to activate a door.

III -- what if there is no door

Tatsuo takes a slow steady breath as he walks around the perimeter of the room. No doors and the windows won't open... not to mention, the doesn't seem to be anything out side of them.. He raps his knuckles against the wall, checking for hollow spots or changes in texture. Nothing. A whole lot of nothing.

He's trapped, with no way out. Like the tomb two Augusts ago. It say it sets his teeth on edge is putting it lightly.

"What do you want?"

He shouts at the ceiling. Because at this point, he kind of refuses to believe this is some sort of accident.

[Tatsuo has forgotten every single memory that could possibly clue him in to the fact he was a cop in his past life :D]

[...Well, okay.

Arthur isn't entirely sure when his thought process shifted to "surely the authorities have this" to "the authorities definitely don't have this", much less why he feels like he should probably do something about it - he has no experience with fire, he has no reason to think that he is going to be capable of doing much against this much fire, but at the same time, the longer he looks at the flames, the more his conscience won't leave him be regarding them.

Except the more he's at this fucking Johnny Cash song gone horribly wrong, the more things seem...strange? He can tell himself all he wants that this is something to be worried about that later, but it's all a little difficult to ignore; as such, he's not unwilling to spend some time just gravitating a bit toward those doing anything that may be vaguely interesting in putting the fires out. He's pretty average-seeming for the most part, dressed plainly with long auburn hair tied back, but his expression is pretty analytical, if blankly so. As though trying to sort out exactly how you're doing that.]

I don't understand why someone would be targeting me. I work at the college, so it's not a high-risk profession; I don't have any enemies that I know of, especially none that would seek to target me in any way.

If anyone has any information regarding why someone would be singling me - or any others, I suppose - out, it would be greatly appreciated. As it stands, this is either a poorly-veiled threat or a pointlessly vague warning.

[On the sliding scale of how surreal Arthur's life has been lately, over the past few days it's gone very rapidly from "I hope the local authorities aren't having too much trouble with the fires lately" to "it's good to see that things are just a few melty clocks away from a Salvador Dali painting." Case in point: he was reading, and then the ground was opening up like he'd just personally punched Moses in the face, and now he's here with a friendly reminder that there are creatures in the ocean the size of buildings for company and very little else.

Things have been a little weird lately, just saying.

That said, he doesn't seem...too concerned? He seems to have resigned himself to pacing the barren space to try to get his bearings after the drop; after a while he just...stops, and he cocks his head back to look at the cracked sky.

That she's being analyzed is something she's always paranoid about, and she's been a bit sensitive lately. She stops her own firefighting (some of it literal, some of it traditional with baking powder and other tools, some of it involving singing (something very unlike Johnny Cash).

She watches Arthur for a second before she speaks up. ]

[Shigure's never been one to lose his head when there's trouble. If anything, he's usually entirely too calm for the situation, and now is certainly no exception. After a fun journey into the firewall and an encounter with an error message, Shigure's returned to the city and run into one of his doubles.

You can find both Shigures crouched down near the bushes in the park, where they're both clearly looking at something. The two are obviously identical, with the same short, wild dark hair and aggressively cheerful personalities, with nothing really indicating which one is which. Both are also completely fine with hanging out together and apparently...]

Look, she's got a collar, let's see if it's got a number on it.

We've gotta get her home; she looks terrified.

Probably 'cause of all the dogs.

[Well, it looks like things aren't going to be sane any time soon, especially now that Shigure's been dropped into... wherever this is. It looks like there's no way out, and the only thing interesting here are the whale bones. So naturally, that's where he'll be, poking around the bones and looking up at them like he's trying to figure out if they're sturdy enough for him to climb (please do not let him climb them).

He'll eventually notice you (assuming you're one of the unlucky people stuck down here), and speak up.]

"Okay, I know this sounds crazy, but that girl popped up out of nowhere when I touched a weird error thingy and now she's chasing me!"

[The real Yuuki meanwhile hunches over, hands on her knees while she catches her breath. She sounds indignant, if winded.]

R-- Seriously?! What kind of weird anime scenario is this?!

[Everything is so goddamn weird.

She's been trying to help here and there when she can, but it's hard to avoid noticing the way reality itself is resembling a glitchy computer than actual, well. Reality. She's outside of the firewall at this time, staring incredulously at everything frozen around her.]

I feel like I'm in a buggy VR game. [Seriously... she even tries poking at the frozen objects around her, curious to see how they'll react.] Literal firewalls, and now everything's freezing? What next, user lag?

[One might rightfully get the sense she's just talking to herself to try to get a handle on this situation because she's really not sure what to make of everything falling apart around her.]

[One of the things she pokes is not, in fact, a frozen object. It is just a dumbfounded Rean. He jumps a little at being poked, then whirls around to look at her.]

2) I got the power! Well...HAD...(power swaps/power gifting or just plain power loss is chill, just tell me which you want to play)

Al was pushing himself this entire month to try to take on as much of the firewall as he could, he has done more than his fair share by now, but he wants to do more, after all, it's his quest to be a good person, heroic deeds ought to do the trick, right?

When you see him, the lack of sleep is evident in his eyes, as if he didn't let himself get a good night's rest for a while, and he is sweating, looking feverish and breathing hard.

"My...My magic...something is wrong...my bag...please...magic blue pepsi"

His form is no longer stable and starts to become fluid changing from this, then his regular self or his arms will turn black with veins looking as if they were made of lava.

His bag is nearby, if you look inside there is a cooler where he keeps some bottles of blue pepsi that are ice cold if you are a snoop, you will also find snacks there along with school stuff.


3a) Let's play some GTA

Now, Al is no stranger to people wanting to have a go at him, he is a thief it happens every so often. When some cops start looking at him suspiciously that's another day in the office given his past. But when a cop yells out to him and starts to give chase when Al has done nothing, that's what sets alarms off in his head.

Now he is on the run, and one is radioing for back-up already.

Sure he has gotten into trouble before, but the last time cops actively gunned for him on sight...

"Shit! What the hell are you guys trying to pin on me this time!?"

He says within earshot of you before suddenly bumping into you(or someone near you), hard.

"Sorry, I need a distraction, you will do"

He grabs whoever he bumped into and will try to throw that person toward the cop to slow them down, like in the movies.

Either way, you will see him running into an alleyway, trying to give the cops the slip.



3b) Trashy...chase after-math

Alternatively, you could be walking near an alley and suddenly a head pokes out of it to look around and sees you. Smelling a little bit of trash, but unlike everyone else, he isn't hot, and considering the weather lately, is not sweating anywhere near what a normal person should. Especially if you noticed, he climbed out of a garbage dumpster.

Seeing the coast is clear he gets out of the alley, pretends to act all casual while going up to you, hoping to gather a little bit of information.

"Hey there, so, have you noticed some people have gone more crabby in the last few days? I think it might have something to do with the heat, you?"

Rean understands pushing himself far past his limits for this. He's been called out on it more than a couple of times, and that he doesn't have similar bags under his eyes right now is only because he's been taken in by a friend and forced to rest more than he would have on his own.

So Rean doesn't even think to tell this person that hey, maybe he should cool it (ha) a little and give himself a break. That can wait – right now, he's been asked for help, and that comes first.

"I— right, got it." To be honest, he doesn't get it at all, because 'magic blue pepsi' isn't going to make sense to most people. But at least it's not hard to find the cooler, and what he can only assume is the fated beverage within.

Running right back over to deliver it, he freezes up when he notices the weird... lava-arms.

"Are— are you all right?!"

[ Everyone's trying to put out the fires. It's only natural to want everything to stop burning. That's why— that's why Clover is here to help. That's right.

Anyone hard at work trying to snuff out a fire, clearing the way to the doors, or trying to get around pop ups will be approached by Clover, who offers a water bottle. ]

Here. Please take this and recharge. If you take some time and rest, it'll be better for you in the end.

[ She sounds so sweet, so concerned. Maybe... even too sweet and concerned? Nah, maybe that's just paranoia talking. ]

[ Being an Intoner for months has made Clover less wary of getting injured. She'll heal faster than a human, after all. She's too busy trying to break the firewall down that she doesn't even notice when balls of light leave her, too focused to know that her feeling different or weaker shouldn't just be chalked up to fatigue.

She hums to give herself strength, and when nothing happens, she freezes. ]

Hm?

[ She sings a song, her voice sweet and pretty but not otherworldly and inhuman, and she cuts off halfway. Her eyes are bright, and she trembles with contained excitement.

She looks around for the nearest person. ]

Hello? Will you help me?

[ Whether or not you're out here to clean up the city or not, Clover will still hand out a medical face mask to whoever passes her by. All that ash isn't good for anyone's lungs.

Derek was surprised to see three more copies of himself after he touched the error message. What. The. Hell? And then before he can even open his mouth, all three of the smirk and apparate away with a loud crack.

"That can't be good."

Chances are you might very well see the actual Derek pop out of nowhere and tackle his clone to the ground and start yelling at it.

IIA: Apparation Problems

Ever since Derek had gotten the memory of the apparation class he had been particularly cautious of doing it. He really didn't want to splinch. He had been practicing inside of his apartment for a week or so with out any problems, though he was still getting use to the squeezing feeling. But he supposed trying it outside of his apartment would be the next step. He picks an alley way and aims to apparate across the street into the other alley way. The results are... pretty bad. Not splinching bad, but really embarrassing bad. If you are within 25 yards of where Derek started he might apparate right on top of you. Or, if you're in a nearby coffee shop, he might apparate right on top of your order. And it will be a surprise to every one. Derek will have no clue where he is at first, an anyone nearby will hear a loud CRACK sound. Perhaps he ended up in your apartment... man that would be really bad for him. Either way, Derek will turn visibly white in his complexion, eyes wide and will suddenly start checking if all of his limbs are intact... that is.. if he didn't land on you.

IIB: Spells backfiring!

Derek had been continuously trying to put out fires during this month. He was doing this same thing now that he had his water spell when something unexpected happened. He waves his wand and points at the fire.

"Aguameni!"

To Derek's surprise, there is a flash of light and suddenly he is being pelted with water. He his thrown backwards a few feet onto his back and his completely drenched. Derek tries to sit up while at the same time coughing up water.

"What the bloody hell was that?!"

When he hasn't been distracted into a greater emergency, Rean's also focused most of his energy this month into trying to put out the fires. To his own detriment, perhaps, but who cares about that when there's something he can do to help?

So it should surprise no one that he's nearby when Derek manages to pelt himself with his own water spell, and that distracts him momentarily from throwing another bucket of water onto the fire. Unfortunately, if he's learned anything for himself this month, it's that magic doesn't appear to be his strong suit.

He quickly runs to return the bucket to its brethren in the sidecar of the motorcycle he's been "borrowing" for this for the better part of the month, just so the thing doesn't get too hot to handle, and then runs over to check on Derek. He's still speaking, after all, so Rean has no reason to believe he's in mortal danger. Still, best to check for injuries.

"Are you all right?!"

I -- need an extra pair of hands?

Rinka just wanted to check out one of the silver doors. But instead, one of those error messages got in the way. She tries to simply walk through it, but she's still not quite gotten the hang of her phasing (or maybe the sign simply can't be walked through) and she ends up cracking her head against the error message instead.

"OW!"

As she crouches on the ground, clutching her head, she hears the sound of something breaking... like a glass window. And when she next looks up, there are four other Rinkas, standing there, looking at her. If it weren't for the fact they were all standing, while she's crouched down, she'd think she was seeing some sort of weird reflection of herself. But then they all strike a different pose... and run off into the city.

"Oh shit."

There's a number of places her clones will wind up. At the high school (maybe sitting in a class she's not actually in), practicing her backhand either on the high school courts or at the rec center, playing with her phasing power by walking in and out of a building... through a wall, or having an iced coffee at Expressive.

Or maybe the real Rinka runs up to you, her expression a little frantic.

"Hey, have you seen... me... lately?"

II -- just give it back already

Rinka only just got her power earlier this month. She's only just begun to experiment with it, test its limits. Sure, it was really weird having that glowing fish divebomb itself into her chest and then wiggle around for five whole minutes, but it's okay now. It's kind of cool not having to use doors anymore, though she tries not to do that when other people around. She still hasn't figured out how to phase objects with her, but one thing at a time.

But though she hasn't had it for very long, she's gotten used to it. It feels like a part of her. So when something suddenly feels like it's draining out of her, all trickling down to the fingertips of her right hand, she knows what it is. As the glowing ball of her phasing ability pops away from her fingers, slipping through her grasp, and starts zig-zagging its way through the mall, Rinka panics.

"No! Come back here!"

[you won't experience any chest wiggling, but you will pretty much start phasing the moment you get her powers :D stay calm~]

III -- the spaces in between

At first, Rinka is confused. She'd walked through one of the silver doors and wound up in a stark, white room. Not very exciting stuff. So she'd turned around, expected the door she passed through to still be there, but it wasn't. That's when the fear started to set up. She looks for a door, she tries to open the windows, and finally... she tries to just phase her way out. But for whatever reason, her powers won't work in here. She sets her hand against the wall and focuses on passing through it... and nothing.

"Again?! Come on! Why won't you work?"

Rinka is getting really tired of her powers acting up this month.

II

[Here Derek was, minding his own business, buying some new clothes, when he realized the rack was... was it always this tall? The cloths he had on his arm suddenly fell to the ground. His eyes dart to where they fell, confusion in his eyes. It is about this time that he realizes that the floor is slowly coming closer and his eyes shift to his feet. He doesn't have feet... What? His eyes go wide and he tries to stay calm. Is he in some magical quick sand? This is a new one for Retrospec. Derek tries to stay as still as possible while he tries to not too frantically call for help.]

Uh.. help.... S-SOMEONE! HELP!

[Starting on the 24th, Crow's starting to notice he's not nearly as coherent as he'd like to be. It's confusing...he's been keeping himself hydrated, he's been sure to keep his own basic needs in check, and while he may have been running around constantly, he wouldn't necessarily call it OVERWORKING himself

So why's he...wait...

Where is he? What is this place?

You may find him hunched over, hand pressed against the wall with his first aid kit slung over his shoulder. His hand scrubs down his face, as if that would keep him from driving himself crazy. Should you get close enough, you can hear him, his voice thick and not nearly as jovial as it's used to being.]

What is that door...

It'll all be over soon... What does that even mean?

Ngh...

[His head, which now feels like its gonna burst, hurts him enough to sink against that wall, clutching it in hopes that the pain, and the words that keep bouncing through his cranium like bees, both subside.]


Bonus.

[With the firewall taken care of (thank god, Crow was beginning to wonder what cool air felt like again), Crow's quick to find the nearest broom to help at least sweep the ashes off the sidewalk he's on so people can walk.

What he didn't take into account was how most of his endeavors this month were fueled by adrenaline, and with all the medical work he'd done, he can feel his eyelids getting heavy.

You may or may not catch him resting his chin on that broom, starting to doze off there.

[Rean has been spending a lot of time with Crow as of late. It kind of comes with the territory of spending the latter half of the month as his roommate.

He notices that morning when Crow's more than a little out of it as he's trying to prep for the day, but even though he can feel worry nagging at the back of his mind, he just shakes it off. Crow's not exactly a morning person on a good day, he must just be more tired than usual. That's fair enough, anyway. He hasn't pressed too hard about things – if Crow wanted to complain about details, he would, right? – but he knows Crow's been working like crazy this whole month. Who wouldn't be tired?

He offers to help where he can. It's almost too easy to lie about why – "Well, you know. If I'm imposing on you like this the least I can do is make myself useful, yeah?" Still, aside from that, he doesn't put voice to his concerns. The worry lingers, but Rean pushes it aside as he does so many things.

It's not until late that afternoon that the worry turns into full-blown panic.

At first, he doesn't even really register what he's seeing – a mop of white hair out of the corner of his eye on the opposite side of the street. He takes a couple steps past before his brain clicks in that oh, right, white hair isn't normal, and he turns back to see who it is.

When he sees Crow hunched over by the wall, the worry that's been silently nagging at him all day blooms into a spreading ice in his veins.

He doesn't run directly across the street to him – maybe let's not get hit by a car and give the poor overworked EMT more reason to freak out, especially after his previous stunts this month – but he is quick to find a crosswalk, bolting across as soon as he's allowed and weaving through the other people on the sidewalk to make his way to his friend.]

Crow!

[He can't quite make out what Crow's muttering, but that voice is wrong coming out from his mouth. ...almost like—

No.]

Crow, are you okay?!

[When Foggy catches word that the fire is out he cheers and takes a detour out of the studio building to look down the street at the horizon. He expected some signs of the fire to be left behind but a hint of the bay or the woods outside the city.]

Well crap. [He grumbles. A line of what? Are those floating doors forming a wall where the fire was?] An herd of wild doors is coming to get us now. Wait! I know what this is!

It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

III-B

Hey wait up! You know the way out of here?

[Foggy calls after the figure he sees down the other side of the long empty hallway and rushes toward them.

He's been wandering what looks like the inside of a castle or church for a while now but every door seems to lead to either a blank white room or another hallway. He needs to get out of here and get back to his family- he knows that much. Trouble is there's more missing from his memory than the layout of this place. He knows his name, that he has a family, that he was on his way home from work, and that he should be somewhere in Recolle City. The rest is fuzzy. He has memories and feelings but the details are all scrambled.]

BONUS

[ASH ASH EVERYWHERE! Screw sweeping! Foggy dug around in the janitor's closet at the studio and found a handheld vacuum. He has a rhythm down- vacuum, go to trash, empty vacuum canister, repeat. For a hot moment there he starts singing as the vacuum hums and sucks air loudly. Then the wind picks up and that's when he gets a mouthful of the ash blown up in his face. Next thing he's coughing up a storm.]

Actually, that is an accurate assessment.

[Tatsuo had been out getting some cleaning supplies, because somehow the ash from the portion of the firewall nearest to Tisse kept getting into his apartment. And he's pretty sure it's not good for Yujirou. He shifts his shopping backs to one hand as he surveys the doors with Foggy.]

There are apparently a bunch of different pockets through those doors. Derek and I went through one and ended up in another version of Recolle.

[ so... while everyone else seems to be having trouble with their clones, kokichi seems to be handling his clones relatively well? in fact, they're kind of just all wandering around together like a flock of annoying flamingos. it's pretty hard to miss this sight since, in this au, kokichi is a 6'2" asshole who towers over most people and things. ]

[ kokichi has kind of already figured out from watching others with their clones that if he catches up to one and gets relatively close enough to them for a prolonged period of time, they'll just disappear. he doesn't want that. why not have some fun? and also... he's interested in seeing how they all act compared to him. he only recently learnt that he's been somehow ignorant to all the strange things around him so he's trying to catch up as much as possible. so! with him and his... nine clones, they will just be wrecking havoc on anyone who dares to come along... ]

[Sakura can't help but fret, but be confused and worry with various little incidences of her having a string of bad luck. All the more so with issues regarding memory. Ending up in this white castle-esque hall that she isn't sure she recognizes at all. She glances around, confused as she notes the surroundings. As she turns and then takes a step forward.]

[Sakura, ever helpful, ever wanting to lend a hand, is busy with a broom in helping try to clean up some of this. She might be humming to herself, in keeping herself distracted and busy by helping out. She might be getting covered in the ash and dust herself, but she could shower and change later and wash her clothes.]

[As luck would have it, one of the fleeing Sakuras winds up running straight into the person who knows her best-- Xiaolang!!

Or... it's probably Xiaolang. Maybe?? With all of these clones running about, it's hard to tell who is who during all of this, but the way he reaches out to steady her seems very much like him, at least. The look of concern in his eyes as he gives her a once-over, even if it's a little muted, seems very much like him, too.]

[There's something a bit... different about Xiaolang as of late.

Maybe it's the decidedly more confident, unruffled way he holds himself as he keeps an eye on the fire wall, exuding almost a smug air about him. Nothing seems to phase him, not the fire nor the various means people around him are putting it out-- in fact, he merely just cocks an eyebrow and observes from a short distance away, arms crossed.]

I don't think that's really going to work.

[Or maybe it's the weird, overly startled reactions he has to some of the stranger occurrences around him, flustering and stammering profusely once he's realized what he's done. It's a weird contrast to the more cool way he had been acting before-- almost as if he was a different person. Strange.]

A-Ah, um-- sorry, this is all just-- can we move to a different spot, perhaps?

[OR!! It could maybe be the calm, reassuring smile he might flash in your direction (odd, since when did he smile like that for anyone who wasn't Sakura--), more collected than he should be for a boy in this situation.]

We should find a safer location for now. We can regroup and figure out what to do in the meantime.

[... on the other hand, if nothing strikes you as strange about the Xiaolangs above, then you might just get rudely interrupted by yet another one darting into the fray, charging straight for his double with his sword drawn and his eyes furious.]

[Of course, two Xiaolangs means double the abilities, and the other is quickly parrying that blow with a sword of his own. This is very rapidly going to progress into a baby stab battle, so someone please pick a side or at least prevent these two children from accidentally murdering one another??]

[You might be doing your thing, taking part in extinguishing the fire wall, when you might feel an abrupt shock to your side, or a particularly strong gale of wind... or maybe part of your clothing might catch on fire. You might be lucky and get drenched with a whole bunch of water instead! Regardless, Xiaolang's going to be rushing up to whoever was unlucky enough to be in his vicinity, dripping wet from head to toe, his brow creased in concern.]

A-Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't-- are you alright?!

[Alternatively, you might see him rushing away from the front lines, looking increasingly distressed, his right hand pressed against his chest. He may even bump into somebody in his haste, knocking the hand away from himself and-- ah. That... sure is the hilt of a sword protruding awkwardly out of the center of his palm!! There's no blood to be seen, only the odd, pulsing glow of blue light around it, but he's looking... very not cool with this turn of events. His eyes dart to whomever he knocked into, and back at the sword locked into his hand, his mind racing for a solution.]
