NOVEMBER TEST DRIVE The city of Recollé... What do you mean the city's behaving for once? I. The Mayor's growing desperate with Thanksgiving right around the corner as those gosh darn turkeys continue to elude him. The birds that escaped at the beginning of the month continue to wreak havoc over the city as they mingle with the crowds and lay their golden eggs in less than convenient places. However, with the clock counting down to Turkey Day, the birds appear to be a little more aggressive. You may find yourself actively chased out of a shop or your classroom by one of these wild birds gobbling angrily all the way. Perhaps a bird is nesting in the middle of the sidewalk forcing you to take a new path. Or perhaps you've come across one of their golden eggs, but be careful! It doesn't take more than a gentle touch now for these eggs to explode, showering anyone nearby with surprises such as candy, shaving cream, mud, bugs, plastic cars, crayons or other small tokens. Will you attempt to catch the birds to turn them into city hall for the $50 reward? Or are you too busy running around to avoid them? II. Even with the turkeys on rampage, that doesn't damper the holiday season. Citizens from all over the city are preparing for the festivities of the month. Over at Tribunal Terrace several members from various volunteer groups and the Community Center are organizing their small annual Thanksgiving day parade that kicks off the city's potluck dinner. Grocery stores are swamped with shoppers picking up last-minute supplies for their big meals and you may find yourself fighting for that last jar of gravy. Over at the community theater, children prepare for their Thanksgiving pageant and it's a flurry of activity from costumes to rehearsals to last-minute stage preparation before the big day. There's plenty of work to be done whether you're acting in the pageant or working on-set. The theater will need as many volunteers as possible to pull this show off. Granted, there are plenty of things to go wrong in the chaos. One of the parade floats begins to drift away from Tribunal Terrace and rolls down the street on its own leaving volunteers to chase after it and fight off an onslaught of turkeys. Lights blow out in the theater and some wiring and set pieces need to be repaired. And did that person's grocery cart of food just hit your car? Good luck. Are you prepared for your celebrations and willing to help your fellow neighbor? Or are you a last-minute straggler left high and dry? III. Earlier in the month several stores had discounted prices on all things blue and it looks like the prices just keep dropping. With green fully restored to all items in the city, items such as clothing, art supplies and food change prices every hour, on the hour. The city of Recollé knows a good bargain when it sees it and hundreds of people hit the streets to snatch up what stock they can. It's like Black Friday came early and after a while some stores can't even keep up with demand. Maybe you're among the crowd hunting for just the right shade of green for your holiday packages, or perhaps you're some poor sap who got called into work at 6am on your day off to deal with a swarm of customers. No matter who you are though, you will find yourself having to answer the age-old question: which color is better, green or blue? IV. The blue skies have only been back for a few weeks before the gray of winter rolls in again. The wind picks up a little and the ocean crashes against the shore down at Peach Beach. The city grows dark each day beginning at about 4:30pm and the temperature drops little by little. It's on November 18th that residents will find that there's a bit of frost on their windows when they wake up that Saturday. Toward the early afternoon, the first snowfall of the season begins. It's nothing much, mostly flurries that swirl and dance through the air and cause a burst of excitement among people. Some residents may even remember it's very similar to the Founder's Day holiday. Though this won't be the last time it snows in the city, there's something magical about the first sign of winter as fall exits. Get out there and build a tiny snowman or catch snowflakes on your tongue. At least the turkeys seem to retreat from the snow itself. BONUS. Over the course of the month residents will find that the spotty reception they've always had has grown even worse. Static rings out over the line and long-distance calls stop going through. Emails bounce back despite numerous attempts, and don't even think about getting clear audio or video through Skype. No matter how hard one tries, by November 30th it will become incredibly clear that all phone calls, texts, emails and video chats to people outside of the city have been shut down. The internet will continue to function as normal (browse and share those cat videos to your heart's content) and inner-city communication functions just fine. You can try calling your service provider...but who knows if you'll get through? And last but not least in the world of inconveniences, in some instances your calls and emails may be rerouted to fellow Retrospec users. Sorry about that! [ Being chased away from the main cafeteria early in the morning by a turkey who decided to make the entrance way its home is not how Kaede expected her morning to pan. Unfortunately for her, that's the reality, and she runs away as the particularly aggressive turkey tries to charge at her. Her escape isn't as smooth as she'd like it to be though as she runs headfirst into someone else. ]
Ah, sorry! Are you okay?
i-b;
[ Later in the day, Kaede comes across a golden egg on her way back from the library, and she crouches down to get a closer look at it. That's definitely a golden egg. ]
I kind of want to touch it... [ She says that mostly to herself, but anyone nearby can hear her. The only thing that's stopping her isthat a turkey might come up and attack her. ]
iii;
[ Kaede's also caught up in the excitement of good deals everywhere, as she's trying to decide between two small bags, both light shades of green and blue. The shop is busy though, and she's ready to get out at as soon as possible. So she turns to whoever might be next to her. ]
Hey, what do you think suits me better? Green or blue?
iv;
[ The snow is more than welcome for Kaede, who has stopped in her tracks on the way to class just to admire it. She's bundled up, with a scarf wrapped tightly around her neck, so stopping for just a moment doesn't do any harm. ]
It's so pretty... [ Maybe she should build a snowman later. ]
wildcard;
[ Feel free to choose your own adventure! I'm game for anything. ]

[ *She's not actually a Turkey Whisperer. ]

She moves to lightly touch the egg, curious to see if it's really real.
Too bad even the lightest touch causes it to explode, sending silly string in every direction. ]
Ah!
no subject
[ She puffs her chest quite confidently as she points at herself. But what causes her to screech slightly is the silly string that manages to get even in her hair. ]
Eek! What is this?!

Re: kaede akamatsu | new dangan ronpa v3
"Not doing so well for a while, miss," Jamie sighed as he tries to fend more of the ravenous turkeys off his parameter.
Man, this must've taken him, around maybe, forever to take the birds out. He tried tackling them, kicking them in the behind, shooing them with a random stick, etc., but it seems that the turkeys won't stop multiplying like crazy. Since when was the last time he watched Gremlins? Didn't those Gremlins/Mogwai multiply with water, could these turkeys be like them in the film? Who knows, or did Jamie's imagination went too wild?
"Anyway, journalist in need of turkey extermination over!!" he alerted her.
no subject
Trying not to panic, Kaede started to shoo at some of the turkeys around her.
no subject
"Hey, the least you can do is to try to shoo them off," he told her, "They seems to attack anyone even more if you try to be too aggressive in your moves."
He joined her in shooing the birds away from the area, as much as they can.
"So, any ideas on how to remove turkeys as humane as possible?" he asked to her.

Her running into him does push him back a bit, causing him to take a step or two back, but he quickly stands his ground and adjusts his glasses as he asserts Kaede's condition.]
Of course I am. You'd far too light to pose a threat to my center of balance! [He declares that smugly before he goes on.]
Why are you even running so recklessly? [He imagines she must be late for a class - but he hasn't yet noticed the incoming danger!]
no subject
Although she's distracted for a moment, his question finally sinks in and Kaede points back behind her. ]
I know it's hard to believe, but a wild turkey took over the cafeteria!

You think I give a damn? [it was like releasing a taunt string because he seemed to relax after snapping at Kaede. Cain quickly realizes that his comment was a little harsh, she probably was just caught up in the excitement of sales.]
Blue's better, but I hear green is gonna be the trendy color.
no subject
If you really think blue is better, maybe I should just get that. [ She smiles, setting down the green bag. Trends aren't necessarily important to her anyway. ]
I'm guessing you've had a long day, huh?

But before she can get mad at Kaede (and really, it looks like she's about to) she notices the turkey behind her, approaching the two fervently.
And honestly, these motherfuckers give swans a run for their money. She isn't messing with this.
So despite their utter unfamiliarity with one another, Aki takes Kaede's hand fairly casually and just starts running, pulling her along.]
If you're trying to avoid being pecked to death then don't stop now, idiot!
[...okay they probably won't kill her, but still.]

She definitely deserves being called an idiot for this one, and she won't even protest that. ]

It's nice to finally see some snow falling from the sky.
[There wasn't any harm in stopping to admire the snow for a few minutes. His own eyes being to gaze upon the snowflakes.]
Are you a cold weather person?
no subject
Hmm... I don't mind it. I like it just as much as summer, but for different reasons. I've always loved snow. [ And the first snowfall of the year is always awe inspiring to her. ]

I actually don't wear much of either color... I guess blue fits into more of what I wear, though.

H-Hey...?
[What she didn't expect was to find the culprit to be her roommate. Just before she could ask her the same question, Kaeda had beat her to the punch, gaining a sheepish smile out of her.]
U-Um, no worries, I'm fine. You weren't running at full speed or anything... As far as I can tell, anyway. [All spoken under her breath with a light amusement in her voice as she looks away for a moment.] What's the hurry? You aren't late for class or something, right?
no subject
No, there's a turkey in front of the cafeteria. It looked like it was going to come after me, so I ran away. [ It's honestly a little embarrassing to recount her story, and Kaede smiles a little sheepishly. ] I think it really doesn't want anyone going near the cafeteria.

And so he's taking an appreciation... not pause, but detour, himself, en route to campus. Getting a bit of that cool wake-you-up air! Seeing how much cover it looks like there's going to be so far! Someone else enjoying the snow isn't of consequence to him - but he overhears that from a gal he passes, and pauses in his tracks a moment, turning over his shoulder, rocking a step to turn sideways, bobbing up lowly off a petty-amused "hfff":]
What -- you ain't never seen snow before?
no subject
Ah... I have. Just not this much. [ Snow would dust over rooftops and the sidewalks in her hometown, but it'd rarely ever pile up. ] Besides, there's something about the first snow that's always really pretty.
