AU WORKSHOP - OCTOBER Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here. IMPORTANT INFORMATION World changes FAQ • As per our game-wide poll, we will be holding an application round in October and in November! After that, apps will resume their bi-monthly schedule. The game calendar has now been updated with the dates for this. • Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM. • For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC! FORM PLAYER'S NAME: CHARACTER'S NAME: CANON: AU NAME: If there's a name change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU AGE: Again, if there's an age change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU OCCUPATION: Feel free to list if your character is a student (elementary/middle/high school/college), if they own their own business, if they freelance, if they have a stable job, etc. BLURB: Here you should write what you have for your AU; you can list your character's hobbies, who their friends and family are, if they have any particular quirks or interesting pieces of their history, if they're from a wealthy family or if they're struggling to get by, anything you feel is relevant. LOOKING FOR: Are you looking for family members or friends or enemies for your character to be pre-planned? Or are you asking for ideas or feedback on your AU idea? AU OCCUPATION: Mechanical Engineer/Military Reserve
BLURB:

★ Born and raised on a small farm in a rural area so he is kind of a country bumpkin
★ Raised as the only child to a mother and a father but has a big family of lots of younger cousins and aunts/uncles so he’s a big brother type
★ Learned basic machinery/mechanical tinkering from father working on the farm as a kid
★ Joined Scouts/Cadets at age 14-17
★ Joined the Military/Reserve from 18-24
★ Served/trained/deployed to disaster sites/relief/etc
★ Associates in mechanical engineering while serving
★ Shoulder injured on duty at 25 (still debating how it happened)
★ Discharged or in his words “put out to pasture” to rehabilitate before he can return to the base
★ Took leave and moved to Recollé for his surgery and for physical rehabilitation
★ Works to earn some cash on the side
★ New to big city life and has only just moved to Recollé and has an apartment
★ Gym rat even through his rehabilitation can’t stop the squats. Despite his injury he’s still very physically fit
★ Looking for mechanic job for now since that’s what he knows!
★ Personable and social and even if he’s from a small place he adapts well to city life
★ Into volunteering work or community work on a regular basis
★ Just needs to keep busy because of ADHD high energy and bad focus

Would you be interested in a younger cousin? Elliot's from NYC, but he comes from a family with lots of ties to the military and lots of aunts/uncles.

Yes!! I would be! I'm completely canon blind to Elliot but if he has a big family with cousins and aunts/uncles it could fit well with my idea!! Zack's family was the sort to always extend invites for huge Christmas dinners and the like. Would that work?

Frederick here is a military vet himself! He probably discharged before Zach joined, but maybe they could meet a VA? Or Fred's a private personal trainer so maybe he could also work with Zach on exercising in ways that won't stress his injury?

That all sounds really great, I like the idea of Zack working with a private personal trainer once in a while. Maybe he was recommended Fred because of his background with the military?

Do you think Zack was at Fort McCoy in his last few years with the military? Because if so, I think he and James could've been there at the same time and could already know each other there! (Or, they could've met on some other base elsewhere, James has lived on a lot of them hahaha)
