AUGUST TDM
|
AUGUST TEST DRIVE The city of Recollé. ...yeah. Yeah, it's just sort of a mess... What will you do today? I. What the hell happened here? Perhaps you're new to the city, or perhaps you've finally started to notice just how bad the damage is to the beloved city of Recollé. The convention center is still crumbled in pieces and several local shops have boarded up windows and doors to prepare for reconstruction. Vendors on the street try to urge residents to purchase monster insurance for all of their home and vehicle needs. But the moment you step outside, you'll find yourself greeted by a member of the Recollé Restoration Committee as they thrust a hardhat into your hands and eagerly chatter about your new assignment. Whether you find yourself in Tisse and assigned to haul pieces of stone around or you're placed over in Apprassage to pour cement, you'll find you aren't alone in these tasks. It's nice to meet your coworkers, isn't it? II. But really, what caused all of this? This is completely insane and while some of you may be willing to help rebuild the city, others might wish to solve the mystery. Poking around the various districts, NPCs will explain that monster attacks "sometimes just happen" which seems pretty strange in and of itself. Monsters shouldn't "just happen", should they? And where are these alleged monsters anyway? Careful what you wish for, though. Exploring too much and straying off-task will lead to finding some things you may not want. These creatures will immediately hone in on new Retrospec users and begin to chase them, though they won't outright attack. While the smaller ones may be destroyed with a bit of effort, it might be wise to either cut your losses or find someone with a bit more experience to take on the larger creatures. Don't worry; there's bound to be someone to help. III. By now, you may have heard the rumors from some of your fellow Retrospec users that several members of the network have disappeared. You may even hear the rumors that those members are lost in "unreality" and that the city itself is a bit...unstable. But they're just rumors, right? Everything seems fine as you go about your day (monsters notwithstanding.) However, any time you pass from one district to another suddenly a list of names scrolls past your line of vision . As the list comes to a halt and lands on one name, you may recognize it as a friend or a stranger. If you're lucky, you may get a holographic video connecting you to someone still in the city. If you're even luckier, you may find someone speaking up inside your head due to a telepathic connection. Go ahead and say hi. You just might get some answers from those who have been lost and those you haven't met yet. IV. As the night begins to set upon the city, a warm sleepy feeling rolls through. Whatever you're doing, it's hard to fight off the urge to curl up under a shaded tree and take a nap. After some time it's nearly impossible to ignore any longer and no matter where you are, you'll instantly fall asleep. Strangely, even The place that you wake up, however, may look very familiar to you. You've seen this place before. In fact, you've lived through this very scene before. Maybe it's the little league game you scored your first home run, or maybe it's your high school prom. These are your memories played back to you, and glancing back you may find that again you aren't alone. Any Retrospec user has the ability to pass through these pockets of time and can stumble right into your memories. The memory pockets can appear no matter where a person is, and they'll be able to view and interact with the memories they see. Take a walk through your childhood neighborhood. Sit through the nightmare of your college entrance exams. These memories are yours as you've lived them. However, try not to change anything about the past. Memories can be quite tricky if meddled with too much. BONUS. While the makers of Retrospec are a bit scattered and busy at the moment, it seems as though they have failsafes to keep their systems up and running. The latest update push operates on its own and begins to download to your device. Your profile remains the same as always (your name and your photo), but it appears you won't have access to it until you apply one of the brand new filters to your picture. Seems easy, right? Maybe you should have given this a second thought. As soon as the filter's applied to your photo, you might find that people are stopping and staring at you as you go about your day. They may or may not comment, but what's evident is that something's going on that you're unaware of. A quick glance in your phone's camera, a storefront window or a mirror will reveal all. That fun filter's now applied itself to your face with no hope of coming off for a while. Have fun! Welcome to the For continuity's sake, for the first time we will be stating that the TDM is dated IC 8/17! This is all in one day. Potential applicants/characters on the TDM will revert back to NPC status on 8/18 and will not remember the events of the TDM until the mod-posted Retrospec post goes up 9/1. Members of Group 2, since the TDM can be considered game-canon, prompts III and IV are open for you to tag around to new players while stuck in your locations outside of the city! For Prompt III, members of Group 2 may telepathically connect to someone even if there's a video option, but their faces and surroundings will be obscured! Other members of the game + potential applicants may use video if they wish. For Prompt IV, please remember these are memories from your AU and not your canon! Should characters deviate from these "memories" too much, they will find themselves thrown back to the beginning of the memory to start over! And finally, the filters provided in the bonus are just examples and you can swap in any others you want. Your August TDM directory is here, and your AU workshop is here! Our mod questions thread for this TDM is over here! |

Orihime Inoue / Bleach
[ Oh! Yes, this is...this is quite bad, isn't it? She probably should have registered that it would be a big mess when the monsters started to attack, but now that she thinks back on it, she was mostly just worried about getting cantaloupe, wasn't she? Well, she has cantaloupe and now she has a hard hat. Maybe she needs two so her cantaloupe can have one too.
Helping out is important, though, so despite her surprise at being a drafted volunteer, she doesn't mind at all. Although that is a very, very large piece of concrete that's jutting out of the ground that she's pushing with all her might on. ]
Unf!
[ Yes, she sure is trying. Maybe you should lend a hand??
Or better yet...who let her borrow a jackhammer? Is that even allowed? Either way, she's trying to figure out how to turn it on. ]
Hm...is it even plugged in?
TWO ✽ I Would
WalkRun 500 Miles[ She kind of wishes she had the jackhammer right now. That thing could do some damage. Yes, if she were setting up another D&D campaign, Orihime would definitely make a jackhammer an available weapon even if it needed a source of electricity--or maybe it's a magic jackhammer! The chord is just for aesthetics and authenticity! It would certainly come in handy if she could use it on the thing that's chasing her!
Yeah, that sure is a weird flying thing. ]
Aaaaahhh!
[ So she's running as fast as she can down the street, trying to avoid debris.
Run for your life with her? Or maybe you know how to take this thing down. ]
THREE ✽ Ring ring ring, banana phone
[ Thank goodness she managed to escape that creature! They're more fun in games than they are in real life, it seems. She takes a moment to catch her breath when something catches her eye. ]
Hm...?
[ That--that...somehow...is that someone's face? Appearing in a glitchy, but visible video floating seemingly in thin air. ]
H-Hello?
BONUS ✽ Maybe it's her, maybe it's Maybelline
[ This is wildly entertaining. Orihime wants to try all the filters, but she decides on a classic!
Of course, now that she's walking around, she's noticing that other people are noticing her. Hm, she hasn't gotten a haircut recently...maybe she's still winded from running for her life? She's really not paying it too much mind, though--she's still curious in exploring what's change about the city...and why she hasn't noticed it up until now. This couldn't have happened overnight, right?
But, well...there is something different about her... ]
WILDCARD ✽ Playing it fast and loose
[ Anything you don't see above! Hit me up here or plot on PLURK at
Bonus because what even
Except how do you bring this sort of thing up...]
Uhm... Are you okay?
how could she not pick the dog
Me?
[ How is she talking behind that floating tongue... ]
Yes! Thank you for asking. I know that today has been busy for a lot of people. I might look tired but it was a good workout running from monsters and laying concrete!
[ Doesn't she look buff? ]
no subject
This is so freaky...]
No... I mean... Uhm. [He rubs the back of his neck.] Have you seen your face?

[he's in the middle of a very complicated hair style and now he can't see his mirror, this sucks]
no subject
O-Oh! Um--
[ Awkward. ]
I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to interrupt! This just appeared out of nowhere and I'm not even sure how...
no subject
Regardless - it seems that he's embarrassed her and... even if he's tired, he feels bad... so instead he shakes his head. Orihime might be able to hear the jingling of bells with the motion? What is Baren even putting in his hair. He has a feather in his hand.]
Nah, it's not your fault. Don't worry about it.
Just do me a favor and let me know if there's any bumps in my hair, 'kay?

[ ann's just gonna bend over and. plug in the jackhammer. ]
It wasn't plugged in, just letting you know. It should work now. Give it a try.
\o/
Okay, here we go...!
[ Is this a bad idea?
This is probably a bad idea.
Because she starts it and BOY is it strong! ]
Who-oh-h-ahahahahahaa!!
[ Yeah it might be hammering her more than the concrete in a totally non-lewd way, of course. ]
Th-t-th-thi-i-i-is-s i-i-sssss f-f-fu-uunn!

and it's so funny that ann starts laughing. ]
Are you alright? That looks like it's kinda bumpy!
[ it's also really funny how orihime's enjoying it! ]
(no subject)
I ! might as well do the canonmate's mom thing
Which is to say walk over and put a hand on her hip ]
Where did they want you to move this, or are you just breaking it up?
no subject
...They didn't tell me where they wanted it...
[ She probably should have asked that, shouldn't she have? She looks around them for any clear indication. ]
I don't want to turn one pile of rocks into another pile of rocks.
no subject
. . .
You know what, why not. Elda takes two steps forward and despite being a tin 5' forty year old, she plants her hand near the base of the original huge piece concrete and with some effort? she lifts it up and off the ground ]
Right, where do you want it?

It gives an almost comical "twang" as it connects, too. ]

Orihime! What did you do?!

I don't know!

Oh, but you have puppy ears though! They're so cute! Though since I'm a cat and you're a dog, does that mean we aren't allowed to get along?
[Despite the question, Yumeko is very bubbly right now and sporting a great, big smile.]
no subject
Oh...oh, but yours look so real!
[ She is definitely impressed! ]
Mmm, I think we should set the example for cats and dogs everywhere and destroy the harmful stereotypes that they can't get along! What do you think?

[He's all for helping out where they can, but...]
Do you know how to use that?
[He isn't quite sure she's got experience using a jackhammer by the sound of things. Or authorization. Probably.]
If you don't know how to turn it on; I don't think you should be trying to use it. There are other ways to help around here than potentially injuring yourself in the process. [There's encouraging and then there's letting someone doing something completely reckless.]
no subject
[ Orihime looks a little worriedly down at the jackhammer, but let's be honest here, she's really more disappointed. ]
Mm...do you know how to? I'd like to learn!
(no subject)
why run when you can be one with the wind
...Was that-
[ She doesn't get to finish that thought, before some giant... bug thing... comes flying down the highway after her, passing Makoto right on by.
Naturally, without even thinking, she hops on her bike, revs up the engine, and roars after both of them, easily catching up to the front of the line and pulling up in front of Orihime. ]
Get on!
she can paint with all the colors of the wind, does that count
Makoto!
[ Get on? Oh dear. It's a good thing that she's fairly adventurous because this is some action movie level ridiculousness that she probably shouldn't be trying.
But yep, there she goes! Orihime gives a shout and jumps onto the bike--though she probably didn't have to do that, it just seemed so in the moment. ]
