AU WORKSHOP - JANUARY Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. ❖ Anyway this is Arthur, he was born and raised in Recollé to a middle-class family; not rich but not poor either, just kinda there
❖ His parents are still alive and they are Very Retired and not in the city anymore, but he's still in touch with them
❖ I'm not married to anything regarding his sibling/extended family situation so if anyone's got thoughts throw them at me, otherwise I can roll with only child or something
❖ He is an extremely new professor at Recolle U, as in "he literally just got hired this past semester", his thoughts on this are mixed
❖ This is partially because 32 is a really young age to become a professor; he managed that by way of "wow does he look like he has a life to you, I think not"
❖ No seriously his social life is not good, someone get this man some friends or a date or forcibly sign him up for tinder or something
❖ A lot of his focus study-wise has been religion and philosophy; he likes asking people obtuse questions and trying to get people to engage in ethics debates with him
❖ Personality-wise he's a little on the intense side, but he's also fairly easy to get along with if you can tolerate him taking everything really, really seriously
❖ ...And also the stupid pretentious ethical debates, I cannot underline that enough
❖ If you leave him to his own devices he's kind of perpetually staring into your soul and looking mildly disappointed with what he sees but that's just kind of his face
❖ He does know how to smile and play nice and be friendly, he just fails to default to that
❖ Contrary to canon, he's never been married, no kids, and thankfully he also is not Literally The Pope?
❖ ...Also contrary to canon, his right arm is fine, which I'm sure he'll appreciate come regains time (no)

LOOKING FOR: Colleagues, people who are likewise in academia, students because why not, acquaintances, people he met at a coffee shop a few times, whatever. If you really want to be related to this thing then you should probably be aware that his past life was a total goddamn mess on the family front. Literally anything is fine by me, positive and negative CR are equally loved, as is awkward CR that's coming at right angles to everything ever.

★ Born to extremely wealthy parents in Recollé, he spent his childhood being mildly terrified of his dad and more or less doing exactly what he was told.
★ This eventually led to a conflict because he wanted to pursue his interests in art (specifically painting), but his father was insistent that Alexander take over the company.
★ Eventually he did agree, mostly because his father got sick and Alexander felt there really weren't any other options. If he took the job, none of his younger siblings would have to, so he figured it'd be for the best.
★ Speaking of younger siblings, he has quite a few! They're all half-siblings, and they all live their own lives, but he loves them all dearly and does his best to look out for them.
★ His father is still very much alive, and while he's not running the company anymore, it's pretty obvious that he's still telling Alexander what to do. He's also still sick, so Alexander spends his time looking after his father as well. Which he also isn't very fond of!
★ But it's fine, as long as his siblings are free to pursue their own passions and do what they'd like it's totally fine...
★ (He may be a little bit bitter about all of this but shhh.)
★ Despite being CEO of a profitable company, he's very down-to-earth and he's very approachable! He enjoys getting to know people and helping others.
★ Oh, he's also kind of bad with technology and is still learning about social media. Please go easy on him, it's Difficult....
★ He's more or less put his interest in art aside, but he is still here to support other artists!!
★ Family > everything, however. Despite the problems he has with his dad, he still loves all of his family dearly and will do whatever he can for them.
★ As for what the company Noir does... I'm leaning toward them being involved in making parts of mobile phones or something, Alexander wouldn't be involved in the technical aspects anyway and does he look like he knows how a mobile phone works?? But I'm very open to ideas here!

LOOKING FOR:

Fellow rich people (who optionally do not know what they're doing), former classmates or peers, employees of Noir, artists (either people he's commissioned or people who have put on public showings, etc), honestly just about anything works? He's friendlier than he is in canon, so finding a way for him to have a previous connection with someone shouldn't be too difficult, let me know if you're interested!

Half-siblings are also an option! I don't have a set idea of how many Alexander has, but he's the oldest. His relationship with his siblings in canon is a bit complicated but ultimately not too terrible (in Revelation, at least). Cousins or other family relations are also totally fine!

AU AGE: 18
AU OCCUPATION: Robotics Student, Twitch Streamer/Youtuber, probably some other part time job on the side.
BLURB:
✢ Grew up in a small American town with her older brother Kokichi (decipere) who she is very close to! They come from a fairly rich family and live comfortable lives.

✢ As a child, she was much shyer than her older brother with a tendency to hide behind him when meeting new people or encountering new situations. She still has shades of that timidity nowadays and will do the exact same thing if she's off her game, but she's grown to be overall more outgoing, at least on the surface. She's extremely cheerful and optimistic with a slightly mischievous streak, thanks to Kokichi.

✢ When she was around 13, she became ill with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. She grew to keep smiling for her family members because of how worried they were for her health, and started playing a lot of online games with Kokichi and later, others.

✢ This is because during her time hospitalized, Kokichi started up a guild called Vivarium to play with her even when he couldn't be there himself. One of the guild's special rules is to wear a mask in a certain style to keep anonymous- something that helped Yuuki get past her shyness when it came to meeting others.

✢ She had two months of intensive chemotherapy followed by two years of maintenance treatments. As of age 15, nearly 16, she’s been cancer-free.

✢ The guild remained active this entire time. The guild doesn't specifically center itself around one game anymore and it has generally just become an online group where people can have fun interacting with one another. She occasionally streams video games with Kokichi while in their Vivarium masks and often does charity runs so they could donate the proceedings to any group that helps sick children.

✢ She is a very studious girl who not only kept up on her homework while hospitalized, but grew to have aspirations in creating hardware for games that made them more accessible to those with illnesses or disabilities. The games got her through a lot, so she now seeks to make it possible for other children suffering from illness or handicaps the same entertainment that comes with games.

✢ They also mail out glitter bombs. That's just. A service they provide from their online shop. Deliver glittery justice upon your foes today!

✢ She's only recently moved into Recollé herself at the beginning of the school year and currently shares an apartment with her brother, Kokichi. As such, she's newer to the area, but eagerly checking out the new places and meeting new people.

LOOKING FOR: Members of the guild they made as kids, Vivarium! Either former or current (it got its start five years ago, if you need a timeline). People who keep up with her streams, classmates, coworkers, bring it!

AU NAME: Kokichi Ouma
AU AGE: ~20
AU OCCUPATION: University student (software engineering)
BLURB:

❖ Kokichi was born and raised in a small American town as the older brother to Yuuki (sleepingknight), whom he's very close to, and to a relatively rich family. His family never had to worry about putting food on the table and both he and Yuuki had very comfortable lives.

❖ He's a really mischievous kid who's constantly joking around and can never really give a straight answer to his true feelings or thoughts. However, this came as a result of being bullied when he was younger. When he was a child, he had a weaker personality that led to him being picked on and he quickly realized that in order to protect himself, he had to adopt a stronger persona where he can't show off any of his old weaknesses. He was pretty clumsy at it at first but got really good at faking it when he got older.

❖ When he was 15~16 years old, Yuuki became extremely ill with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia and had to be hospitalized for a period of time. At this point, Kokichi started to skip a lot of school and keep her company. He would often drop by with video games (their shared interest), treats, and all other sorts of things. This was the time period when he got especially good at faking his emotions.

❖ While Yuuki was in the hospital, Kokichi created an online guild, named Vivarium, specifically for her. Knowing that he wouldn't be able to keep her company all the time, he made this online group so she could interact and play video games with others while he was gone. He also made it a special rule that all members had to wear masks (similar to these) so they could be anonymous from one another. This was due to Yuuki's shyer personality but also to hide his own emotions and any slip-ups he might have while visiting her in the hospital.

❖ Even as Yuuki got better and was discharged from the hospital, Kokichi continued to run and expand Vivarium as it has become something particularly special for him. The guild doesn't specifically centre itself around one game anymore and it has generally just become an online group where people can have fun interacting with one another. That meant he packed up and left his small town to move to Recolle, where he has been residing for the past ~two years.

❖ He doesn't tell anyone but he specifically chose to go into software engineering so he could eventually go into creating video games with Yuuki since games had a huge impact on them when they were younger. However, he'd never admit this and if you ask him, he'd just say that he wants to create a bunch of viruses and plague people with them. Or illegal programs that he could sell and make money with. You'll never find out that he's actually kind of a nice guy.

❖ Anyway, what has he been doing in these last couple of years? Honestly, just being a lil shit. Although he's tamer than his canon self, he still likes to pull a lot of practical jokes on people and do stupid thing that makes him the annoying friend that no one really likes, such as being that asshole who constantlys calls/texts/snapchats/tweets people at 3am about things or to ask if they want to totally go to McDonald's with him. He's also the same lil shit who crashes on your couch and then eats all of your snacks and stays there even after you make 3928129 unsubtle hints for him to leave.

❖ Also, he has this terrible online shop that he runs with his sister where they just mail glitter to people. You know those annoying packages or letters where if you open them, you have a fuckton of glitter hitting you in the face and then making it a pain to clean out of your carpet floor? Yeah, he's the guy you wanna hit up if you want to send that shit to your worst enemies. He also carries glitter in his pockets at all times for this very purpose.

❖ Also also, he's 6'2" in this AU but only because I want him to be super tall and put all of his stuff on high shelves where Yuuki can't reach it but then regain back his 5'1" height so then he could go and completely run out of clothes to wear

LOOKING FOR:

❖ Friends! Whether they are from his childhood, university, anything is game. Honestly, just people who put up with his bullshit and somehow have the patience to keep him around.

❖ Online buddies! Which are pretty much friends but people who only know him by his online identity (he uses the ~edgy~ handle "Zero") and is either part of the guild or not. Honestly, just be his twitter pal where he posts shower thoughts to ("your future self is talking shit about you" "when snoop dogg's 60, he's going to be 420 in dogg years")

❖ I ran out of ideas but give me that good pre-game cr. Give me some negative CR too. I will literally hand someone $5 to go tell Kokichi to go fuck himself.

♠ Born in the UK with a missing arm, was abandoned by his birth parents sometime before he could remember them.
♠ Unfortunately became a victim to child trafficking. Spent early childhood in hostile environments and forced to do various manual labor jobs. Escaped during a police raid when he was ~7 years old.
♠ Met a traveling entertainer who ended up adopting him and giving him his name.
♠ Spent the rest of his childhood traveling around the UK for his dad's work.
♠ When Noah was 15, his dad became sick. He attempted to take care of him, but ultimately he was forced to get in touch with his dad's estranged relatives in the US for help.
♠ As part of an agreement with the family, when Noah was 16 they immigrated to the US where his dad was sent to a long-term care facility while Noah moved in with a cousin.
♠ Shortly after moving to the city, Noah got on the app for the first time for about a year and a half. Hijinks ensued, including gaining a new arm.
♠ Cousin eventually moved out of town due to a family emergency. After moving around for awhile, Noah's recently moved in with a former teacher.
♠ When he left the app, he lost the arm and is currently using a prosthetic. That's going to be a trip to remember.
♠ He's in his senior year of high school and plans to go to technical college. He wants to become a firefighter, but that might be hard with only one normal arm, so he's looking into options.
♠ Unlike Allen in canon, he never developed a polite mask, so he's a pretty rude and aggressive brat.
♠ While I'm not sure matured is the right word, he's become more focused since leaving the app.
♠ He's still a profane brat though whose not fond of talking to people.
♠ Likes: Food, money, dogs, video games, netflix, gymnastics.
♠ Still dresses like he's an escaped Hot Topic catalog model.
♠ Volunteers at various dog shelters and works part time...somewhere for extra money. He used to work at the Confectionary, but idk if I still want him there.

♡ HAS TRUST AND SELF WORTH ISSUES. . . . she keeps it a huge secret and tries to make sure that nobody finds out because she's scared that people will think she's broken, because she sure thinks that she's like that.

AU NAME: Shigure Rangetsu
AU AGE: 31
AU OCCUPATION: Working at the Recollé Animal Shelter and also the owner of a business that focuses on cat adoptions and care (name to be determined, please give me terrible cat puns)
BLURB:

✦ Born and raised somewhere in Japan, Shigure was surrounded by family for awhile... at least until his parents and grandparents got in a fight and his parents moved them to Recollé when Shigure was very young.
✦ He had trouble learning English and as a result, spent a lot of time acting out. It's something he'd continue to do throughout his years in school, partially because of his temper and partially because he was just really bored during class. Despite this, he made sure to never go too far overboard and usually just remained a class clown and a teacher's headache rather than a complete nightmare student.
✦ Since his parents were so busy, the only companionship he had for a long time was the family cat. Eventually his parents would have another son, but let's be honest, Shigure cared more about the cat. He and his brother are on decent-ish terms, Shigure loves him, but their relationship is complicated (because Shigure is a pain in the ass).
✦ The only thing Shigure really liked about school was gym and any physical activities, and those held his interest really well. He was always super competitive with them, and usually picked them up very quickly and ended up so good he lost interest in pursuing them.
✦ He went to Recollé University after high school, but he only stuck around for two semesters. He didn't know what he wanted to do and taking classes didn't help (and also he still wasn't interested in school), so eventually he gave up and went to live with his grandparents in Japan.
✦ While he was there, he held a lot of odd jobs and eventually spent a lot of time helping out in the Rangetsu family's restaurant. He wasn't in any sort of prominent position, but he definitely learned that this wasn't what he was looking for either.
✦ He returned to Recollé at age 22 and picked up a job at the Recollé Animal Shelter, as well as an apartment all to himself. While he greatly prefers cats, he's pretty good with any animal that comes through the shelter's doors and he's perfectly happy to help out with whatever is needed of him there.
✦ Shigure also owns his own business, a cat adoption agency that works with the animal shelter. They also host cat adoptions and try to drum up business for the animal shelter! His employees are all volunteers, and the organization is still gaining traction. I haven't decided on the name of it yet, so please give me terrible cat puns.
✦ He currently has three cats... and fosters others until they can be taken in by a loving home.
✦ Shigure absolutely looks like he could kill a man, but put him in front of a cat and he will do nothing but play with it for twelve hours. He loves cats so much. But aside from cats, he's also very fond of partying and getting into fights and he has probably been thrown out of bars before so there's that too, I guess.

LOOKING FOR:

Anything, really! People around his age that he would've been in school with, people who would have adopted a cat from him or the animal shelter, fellow animal shelter workers/volunteers, people who volunteer for his business, people who love cats... And for things that are not cat-related, he is very fond of bars and clubs and partying so if your character's into that, it's totally possible they've crossed paths. Ex-girlfriends or boyfriends?? One night stands?? People who have thrown him out of bars?? There are a lot of possibilities here, and Shigure's outgoing and friendly, so we can definitely make something work if you're interested!

There's also the position of his younger brother, and I'm fine having someone take that, but Shigure does have some memories involving family that are kind of a mess. Cousins and extended family are also great too, the Rangetsu family is a pretty large one! I'm open to just about anything though, so hit me up if you've got any ideas and I'm sure we can make it work!
