AU WORKSHOP - MAY Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here. IMPORTANT INFORMATION World Changes FAQ Game Calendar Plot Finds (ooc knowledge) • Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM. • For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC! FORM PLAYER'S NAME: CHARACTER'S NAME: CANON: AU NAME: If there's a name change at all! HELLO!! I can offer Leon Zhong who is another competitive nerd with a short fuse. He's roughly the same age as Koga and maybe they could have had a few dumb spats in the past? Leon's really into the knock off version of Love Live and other various video games BUT HE'LL BE WILLING TO TRY OUT CARD GAMES IF IT MEANS COMPETING AGAINST SOMEONE :l;;

One of his best girls is his super fluffy poodle and he always makes sure to take her to the vet for check ups, so maybe that's how they could have been acquainted with each other?

AU AGE: 16? 17? I'm struggling with this, but I know I want to age him up to some degree. He's 14 in canon, according to someone who works on the show, but I would have assumed around 16, tbh, based on his personality, just his design.
AU OCCUPATION: High School Student
BLURB:
» An only child born in Recollé, whose father has been single for as long as Varian can remember. Varian has seen his mother in his own baby pictures, but aside from that, he knows basically nothing about her. It's always been something he's felt he couldn't ask about, and his father's never brought it up.
» Varian has always been bright for his age, and has a particular interest in science. Chemistry is his favorite area. Despite his intelligence, he tends to make a mess of things by being overzealous in his thinking. As a result, his father didn't always put faith in him, and Varian feels he was ashamed of him.
» Varian is fond of animals, though his father never let him have a pet because the boy could be flighty-minded.
» In his preteen years, Varian started volunteering at an animal shelter, which he still does.
» Varian's father was a cop until he died on the job when Varian was 14. I haven't decided specifics. Anyway, Varian had disappointed his father by getting in trouble in school earlier that day, and Varian believes this disappointment clouded his father's focus and helped lead to his death.
» Before the accident, Varian was socially awkward and kind of angsty, but generally upbeat and optimistic. After the accident, Varian became moody and angry, largely blaming himself for his father's death.
» He's living with some extended family now.
» At age 15, Varian dyed a streak in his hair blue to honor his father.
» Varian is also interested in technology, especially computers and phones. He has some "handyman" type skills, as well, because he likes to mess around with things in his house. He'll take appliances and the like apart and then put them back together, improving them in the process, if he thinks he can.
» Plans to attend Recollé University after high school, but he isn't quite sure what he plans to major in. Probably a science.
» He reads a lot! Mostly action-centric fantasy or historical fiction.
» He also collects rocks and minerals, etc.
LOOKING FOR:
» Input or additional ideas!
» Extended Family. Varian needs to be living with someone right now, especially since he's a minor, and it'd be great for this family to be actual characters in the game. I'm thinking a sibling/cousin of his father, plus their possible spouse/offspring/etc.
» Friends. Varian likes science, technology, and animals, as well as rock-collecting and reading. He can have friends he made before the accident who stuck by him despite the dark shift in his demeanor, and/or new friends who were open to befriending him after that shift.
» Other Cops! These people would have known Varian's dad, and some of them probably watched Varian grow up. Let me know if you'd be interested in that.
» Bullies, Rivals, Etc. Varian was and likely still is bullied, as "nerds" often are. I'd love him to have one or more school rivals, as well.
» Is there an established animal shelter?

BLURB:
- Born in a small town of about 50 people outside Winnipeg that your character cannot possibly have heard of.
- Grew up playing ice hockey, and was a star forward at the Junior level. Her propensity for fights earned her the nickname "Lightningrod," and she still holds at least one league record for penalty minutes.
- Her athletic career was cut short at 19 by a ruptured Achilles tendon; she still walks with a slight limp.
- Received her bachelor's in education from the University of Winnipeg, before relocating to Recolle to get a fresh start.
- Will start teaching full-time with the coming school year, but will have been working as a substitute throughout the past year.
- Certainly tries to be the Cool Teacher. Jury's still out on her success in that department.
- Very much a friendly drunk.
- Never talks about her past, mostly just to seem more mysterious than she is.
- Natural blonde, but 100% absolutely dyes it her canon hair color.
- For all her quirks, she's smarter than she looks, and pretty good at what she does.
- Incredibly slow to anger, but holds grudges like no one's business. You don't even want to be friends with someone who manages to get on her bad side.

LOOKING FOR:

- Students, naturally! Anyone at Recolle High who might have one of her classes at some point. Other faculty welcome here too, of course.
- Anyone with a stick up their ass that she can amuse herself by teasing mercilessly.
- Anyone who hangs out in some random local dive bar has probably seen her make a fool of herself in public at least once, especially if the bar has karaoke night.
- Past romantic partners are mostly unlikely, but she's been in town for about a year by now, so nothing's non-negotiable.
