NOVEMBER TDM
NOVEMBER TEST DRIVE The city of Recollé... What do you mean the city's behaving for once? I. The Mayor's growing desperate with Thanksgiving right around the corner as those gosh darn turkeys continue to elude him. The birds that escaped at the beginning of the month continue to wreak havoc over the city as they mingle with the crowds and lay their golden eggs in less than convenient places. However, with the clock counting down to Turkey Day, the birds appear to be a little more aggressive. You may find yourself actively chased out of a shop or your classroom by one of these wild birds gobbling angrily all the way. Perhaps a bird is nesting in the middle of the sidewalk forcing you to take a new path. Or perhaps you've come across one of their golden eggs, but be careful! It doesn't take more than a gentle touch now for these eggs to explode, showering anyone nearby with surprises such as candy, shaving cream, mud, bugs, plastic cars, crayons or other small tokens. Will you attempt to catch the birds to turn them into city hall for the $50 reward? Or are you too busy running around to avoid them? II. Even with the turkeys on rampage, that doesn't damper the holiday season. Citizens from all over the city are preparing for the festivities of the month. Over at Tribunal Terrace several members from various volunteer groups and the Community Center are organizing their small annual Thanksgiving day parade that kicks off the city's potluck dinner. Grocery stores are swamped with shoppers picking up last-minute supplies for their big meals and you may find yourself fighting for that last jar of gravy. Over at the community theater, children prepare for their Thanksgiving pageant and it's a flurry of activity from costumes to rehearsals to last-minute stage preparation before the big day. There's plenty of work to be done whether you're acting in the pageant or working on-set. The theater will need as many volunteers as possible to pull this show off. Granted, there are plenty of things to go wrong in the chaos. One of the parade floats begins to drift away from Tribunal Terrace and rolls down the street on its own leaving volunteers to chase after it and fight off an onslaught of turkeys. Lights blow out in the theater and some wiring and set pieces need to be repaired. And did that person's grocery cart of food just hit your car? Good luck. Are you prepared for your celebrations and willing to help your fellow neighbor? Or are you a last-minute straggler left high and dry? III. Earlier in the month several stores had discounted prices on all things blue and it looks like the prices just keep dropping. With green fully restored to all items in the city, items such as clothing, art supplies and food change prices every hour, on the hour. The city of Recollé knows a good bargain when it sees it and hundreds of people hit the streets to snatch up what stock they can. It's like Black Friday came early and after a while some stores can't even keep up with demand. Maybe you're among the crowd hunting for just the right shade of green for your holiday packages, or perhaps you're some poor sap who got called into work at 6am on your day off to deal with a swarm of customers. No matter who you are though, you will find yourself having to answer the age-old question: which color is better, green or blue? IV. The blue skies have only been back for a few weeks before the gray of winter rolls in again. The wind picks up a little and the ocean crashes against the shore down at Peach Beach. The city grows dark each day beginning at about 4:30pm and the temperature drops little by little. It's on November 18th that residents will find that there's a bit of frost on their windows when they wake up that Saturday. Toward the early afternoon, the first snowfall of the season begins. It's nothing much, mostly flurries that swirl and dance through the air and cause a burst of excitement among people. Some residents may even remember it's very similar to the Founder's Day holiday. Though this won't be the last time it snows in the city, there's something magical about the first sign of winter as fall exits. Get out there and build a tiny snowman or catch snowflakes on your tongue. At least the turkeys seem to retreat from the snow itself. BONUS. Over the course of the month residents will find that the spotty reception they've always had has grown even worse. Static rings out over the line and long-distance calls stop going through. Emails bounce back despite numerous attempts, and don't even think about getting clear audio or video through Skype. No matter how hard one tries, by November 30th it will become incredibly clear that all phone calls, texts, emails and video chats to people outside of the city have been shut down. The internet will continue to function as normal (browse and share those cat videos to your heart's content) and inner-city communication functions just fine. You can try calling your service provider...but who knows if you'll get through? And last but not least in the world of inconveniences, in some instances your calls and emails may be rerouted to fellow Retrospec users. Sorry about that! [He's now become absolutely convinced that his upperclassman was just jealous of his snowman. Yeah! That's definitely it!!!!
Despite his anger, he does manage to crack a smirk at the challenge and is slowly cooling down. Because, there's no way he could build a snowman that's better than his.]
That's right. I'm challenging you to a snowman building competition. Prove to me that you can build one that can outshine mine.
no subject
And now, allow me to put my money where my mouth is. Allow me to show you what true snowman-shaping ability looks at!
[With that, Byakuya leans over close to the ground and begins forming some of the snow into the base of a snowman.]
no subject
Alright, now you're talking. Although I'm certain it won't be good as mine, but I'll at least give you a chance to prove yourself.
[With that, Leon stands there smugly while closely watching Byakuya build his snowman. There was absolutely no way it would be better than his!!
A few people begin to pass by the pair, whispering to each other. They were wondering why two young adult men were getting so fired up over snowman...? Kids these days.]
no subject
[He keeps on putting together more snow, forming a very large and round base for his snowman!
Kids these days indeed...]
no subject
[Ok Leon totally had to admit, the size of the snowman was very impressive... but he sure as hell wasn't going to say it out loud.
So he'll continue to stand there and watch with his arms crossed. The smug smile he had just a few moments ago was slowly starting to disappear...]
no subject
[Byakuya continues patting more snow on and artfully shaping it, until he's got a very large and round bottom half of the snowman. He takes some time getting there, but that's quite a bottom he's ended up with!]
no subject
Yeah right, it is you that will be melting like the snow! I'm looking forward to seeing your hopes and dreams melting away like your pitiful snowman.
[Despite that, he was actually growing somewhat nervous because wow, Byakuya's snowman is actually looking pretty decent?]
I'll admit, it's impressive how large and round your snowman is but size isn't everything...
no subject
He shakes his head as Leon stops talking.]
On the contrary, Leon. Size is everything. Soon even you will come to truly understand!
[With that, he starts gathering more snow and placing it atop the bottom to make quite the midsection for the snowman!]
no subject
You certainly talk big! It's going to take a lot to convince me and I doubt that someone like you would be able to change my mind.
[Holy shit??? That is a huge snowman. He was... midly impressed but that also meant that if it was big then that means more errors? HA! He still had this in the bag.
Some bystanders pass by and stop when they see the snowman that was being built. Some of them were even oohing and awing.]
no subject
[Byakuya waxes poetically as he confidently builds up that sturdy midsection. One step closer to completion! Next, he retrieves some thick branches, which he places on the snowman's sides to act as arms.]
no subject
[I MEAN GOD BYAKUYA, you're like a year older than him. A WHOLE YEAR!!! That's like waaaay old, man.]
I'm surprised you didn't use a log for arms considering how huge that snowman is.
[It is honestly a really good snowman, he just absolutely hates to admit it.]
no subject
[With that fluster, one of the arms ends up being slightly askew. But still, Byakuya doesn't notice and focuses his attention on forming the head next.]
I'm only slightly surprised. There are no logs at hand, and objects that thick could threaten the stability of the snowman. As impressive as they be, snowmankind has not progressed enough to support such arms.
no subject
Oh please, Kirigiri. We all have hidden ambitions, don't pretend like you are above everyone else.
[SAYS THE GUY WHO THINKS HE'S THE GREATEST THING? Wow look into a mirror, Leon.
Seeing the arm looking slightly askew causes him to smirk. While he was mostly trying to one him up, it pleased him to see that his goading was distracting him. Just as planned kinda. Ok that wasn't really apart of his plan but he'll take it.]
Well, have you ever thought about building a snowman that could support logs? You talk about size so why not try to build one that'shuge and sturdy enough to hold up logs? [He smirks] Of course, I can't imagine that you are capable enough of pulling such a feat.
no subject
Byakuya grunts while he continues his work.]
Hmph. Don't underestimate me or my capabilities. If I wished, I could construct a true snow-juggernaut, one who could sustain such limbs! [He pokes at his glasses.] ...But I will only take on one challenge at a time. My snowman won't need to be that big to destroy yours.
[As he says this, he starts sculpting a round snow head!]
no subject
Hearing that grumble made it all worth it.]
I must admit, I am curious to see what your snow-juggernaut would look like. [DEEP DOWN the idea was actually pretty cool to him.] Oh? Now you are the one who is boasting big. Very well, we'll let this be the deciding factor! We'll see whose snowman truly reigns supreme.
[Leon had to admit, the snowman's size was impressive despite not being a juggernaut.]
no subject
Maybe one day you'll see it. But don't get too greedy about witnessing my absolute might. You have this defeat to suffer first...
[He shakes his head.]
Tsk tsk... It's not a boast when one is stating an objective fact. And the fact is that my snowman is of absolute perfect roundness!
[He says as he finishes sculpting the very smooth and round head of this snowman!]
no subject
[Now that Byakuya's finished sculpting out his snowman, Leon walks closer to get a better look at it.]
Tch, I'll admit that it's pretty good. [said with a slight distain in his tone.] However, just because your snowman is bigger than mine, it doesn't mean that it's rounder! I say that my snowman is still the pinnacle of perfection.
no subject
You're the one who needs glasses if you see anything that looks like an imperfection in my art. It is bigger, it is rounder, and it is more powerful than your snowman!
[Now, he points dramatically at Leon.]
Admit it now!
no subject
[Oh hell no, he wasn't going to sit down and let his upperclassman rival POINT at him like that. IT'S TIME FOR A POINT OFF, BYAKUYA!!! Leon also dramatically extends his hand out to point his index finger at him.]
Never! It is you who needs to admit that my snowman is better!!!
[They're both childish... passerbys as they walk away by the bickering college students]
no subject
Byakuya glares at him and harumphs.]
I will not admit to any falsehoods, even as you parade in them. Our words are going to revolve around each other in an endless cycle. The only way to prove this shall be through action.
My snowman will challenge yours to a joust!
no subject
For once, I agree with you on that regard. It feels like this conversation is going no where since neither one of us is willing to submit.
[Just when he was beginning to run out of ideas on how to outdo his senpai, Byakuya's suggestion causes his ears to perk up with interest. What is a snowman jousting? Either way it didn't matter, it sounded pretty damn fun and if this gave him the chance to finally prove himself against Byakuya, then he will gladly take on the challenge.]
A snowman joust? [The he smirks.] I like the idea a lot. How would we go about this?
no subject
It's simple. We shall each equip our snowman with one single weapon. Then, we shall push them towards each other. Whichever is left the most intact in the aftermath shall be acknowledged as the True Snow King!
no subject
I see, that makes a good amount of sense. [He begins to smirk while twirling a lose strand of hair.] Very well! I accept your challenge, Kirigiri. Now if you excuse me while I go find a weapon that will best your snowman.
[With that, he attempts to find the largest and most fiercest jousting weapon! Which would end up being just a really long stick, but a terrifying stick none the less!!!!]
no subject
As Leon sets off, Byakuya quips after him.]
Then you'll be searching forever, as such a weapon does not exist!
[Still, he searches the snow for his own weapon. Eventually, he finds a long stick with a jagged end and sticks it in his snowman's chest, with the jagged end facing outwards.]
no subject
You honestly think that pathetic stick will best mine? No matter, you'll be proven wrong shortly.
[With that boast, he gets behind his snowman.]
Are you ready for the showdown of the century, Kirigiri?
[IT'S TIME TO D-D-DUEL!!!!]
