AU WORKSHOP - OCTOBER Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here. IMPORTANT INFORMATION World changes FAQ • As per our game-wide poll, we will be holding an application round in October and in November! After that, apps will resume their bi-monthly schedule. The game calendar has now been updated with the dates for this. • Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM. • For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC! FORM PLAYER'S NAME: CHARACTER'S NAME: CANON: AU NAME: If there's a name change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU AGE: Again, if there's an age change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU OCCUPATION: Feel free to list if your character is a student (elementary/middle/high school/college), if they own their own business, if they freelance, if they have a stable job, etc. BLURB: Here you should write what you have for your AU; you can list your character's hobbies, who their friends and family are, if they have any particular quirks or interesting pieces of their history, if they're from a wealthy family or if they're struggling to get by, anything you feel is relevant. AU NAME: Renard "Call me Ren" Regnault
AU AGE: 21
AU OCCUPATION: College student, city hall intern
BLURB:
- The Regnault family are well-established in Recolle and have been for generations, carving out a place for themselves in the city's economic and political spheres. By following and anticipating upcoming trends in technology rather than holding fast to outdated systems, they've moved seamlessly from being factory owners to software developers, and now the largest generation of Regnault children yet (eight siblings in all) appear poised to take over the city with ever-diversifying spheres of influence.
- Ren is the second of those eight children. His older brother will inherit the business interests, so he is expected to take his uncle's place in city politics. There are four boys and four girls in this branch of the Regnault family, with two sisters after Renard in the birth order, a boy, two more girls, and then the final boy.
- Ren is also lazy, perpetually bored due to an insufferable blend of high intelligence, high arrogance, and low investment in the world around him, and a dyed in the wool instigator. The only time a situation tends to grab his interest is when it has enough potentially volatile component parts to make stirring the pot entertaining.
- "Social experiments" are his forte, in which he charms his way into several connected social circles and then sees if he can nudge them into falling apart.
- Yes, he's essentially a classic for the lulz internet troll who has taken his hobby irl.
- He's getting all of his education on his family's dime, naturally, so he doesn't take school all that seriously and, as such, is still nowhere near graduation at 21 years old. The family have threatened to cut him off and give his opportunities and responsibilities to the next in line, though, so he's scored himself an internship with a prominent city politician to mollify them.
- Other than messing with people both on the macro and micro scale, his interests include personal styling (fashion, doing hair and makeup for himself or others, etc), European history (weirdly enough, his favourite classes in school), languages (he speaks several, English and French both being spoken in his home), and he's the most incredible coffee snob you've ever met. Think "kopi luwak is overrated" coffee snob.
- Personality-wise, he's an excellent social chameleon, but particularly astute people can see through his falseness and will probably despise him or just have no time for him.
- Appearance note: his hair is golden brown and his eyes are hazel.
LOOKING FOR: Family??? Could be distant cousins, aunts and uncles, siblings, whatev! School friends, enemies, profs, etc. The politician with whom he's doing his internship, of course, and/or others in the office. Connections in local business or politics well above his current pay grade, just bc he wants to muck things up for his siblings and maybe take down his whole family??? If he has a free day in his schedule sometime. People who work for his family and could thus resent him and/or suck up to him. Current or former lovers (of any gender identity) who get/got to deal with his brand of serial monogamy with liberal amounts of cheating, or the flings he cheated with.

does Ren live on campus? because Shuji was living in the dorms until really recently and I haven't established who his roommate was

Ren's definitely got a cushy but not over the top apartment provided by his parents, because then they can threaten to yank it out from under him if he keeps under-performing. Maybe in their first year they both did makeup and hair for the art/design dept's fashion show or something? Or a production by the theater dept? I like the idea of them meeting through that somehow!

okay but what if exes, because chuuya definitely had a few of them and probably wouldn't say no... he'd have been Out if he found out about the cheating (whether he was being cheated on or cheated with) or maybe they just broke up when ren got bored or chuuya was like shit, he's pretty but also a huge pain?? it could go multiple ways here probably

IF YOU LIKE, chuuya could've burned the whole house down on his way out by telling the other partner, too, which would cause equal resentment on ren's side because hdu think you have the right to punish me? but not actual retaliation because effort.
