Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here.

• As per our game-wide poll, we will be holding an application round in October and in November! After that, apps will resume their bi-monthly schedule. The game calendar has now been updated with the dates for this.
• Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM.
• For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC!

hey there! I have a similarly aged dean winchester (dean williams in the au) that might be fun to have some established cr of some kind between the two. I had originally had dean grow up in texas, but I can definitely tweak a few things backstory wise and have him show up in new york at some point. he’s a bit on the rough side of things, high school dropout kinda guy, which would make friendship between these two... interesting, to say the least.

AWW YEAH BAD TEXAS BOY DEAN! What makes you think geeky Foggy would have trouble convincing a dropout that he's cool? THIS IS FOGGY NELSON WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.

Okay seriously the first thing that comes to mind is that they were neighbors or in some situation where they would see each other multiple times guaranteed and their relationship built up over time. Foggy could never stay silent forever. He'd have to make a sarcastic remark or joke and maybe Dean likes his sense of humor. How old are we talking about them being when meeting?

I read your plans with younger sister Natasha and I'm cackling because Foggy would totally go, "Heck yeah you're right! HE IS HOT! You're too young. I'll date him in your place. Ah. The sacrifices we make for family."

~~I’m totally here for bisexual dean having some weird relationship with foggy as teenagers/young adults if you are.~~ maybe he moves to new york after dropping out of high school, or his parents move them all up to new york before he drops out in an effort to ~straighten dean out. I can age him up to 32 for the sake of lining up school ages and stuff, I’m not picky, and I’m pretty easy to work with.

I’m thinking that maybe foggy might have something to do with dean cleaning up his act and joining the military. cause he was in a baaaad place before he finally joined the forces. dean would 1000% like his sense of humour. I feel like foggy would be a really good influence in dean’s life.

Cool with me! Whatever happened would depend on if Dean was out of the closet or not. Maybe they fooled around some or maybe it was this whole attraction thing that never really went anywhere. Either way is fine!

FOGGY IS A GOOD INFLUENCE ON EVERYONE'S LIFE. /coughs/ I mean
He would totally sass and nag on Dean to do something with himself.
"I know your parents are driving you crazy Dude but you don't want to be scrambling to pick yourself up and decide what to do with your life AFTER they've kicked you out at twenty whatever. You cannot sleep on my couch forever, I'm going to need it."

I’d lean towards fool around some and have some sort of a weird pseudo relationship going on that never really culminates into anything serious for either of them. the reasons for that can vary for both foggy and dean, which could have as much to do with dean’s extracurricular activities as it does with his uncertainty regarding his sexuality. I doubt he’s even 100% okay with his sexuality now (hello super heteronormative military). some good ol’ fashioned tension between them while still remaining good friends.

so let’s tentatively say dean’s parents move them to new york when he’s sixteen (he’ll drop out when he’s between 17-18 which I’m sure is a decision that foggy is super excited about). he gets his own super sketchy place in new york for awhile, but eventually his extracurriculars start to interfere with his ability to hold even a sketchy, under the table part time job, and maybe somewhere between 19-20 he lives with foggy for awhile. until foggy’s like “okay, listen, you gotta actually do something with your life buddy, wasted potential, yadda yadda, and dean decides around 20 that his only real viable option is the military at this point. how does that sound? (please feel free to alter anything or add any input to the timeline, foggy is yours after all.)

That timeline works for me!

I think Foggy's end of their weird pseudo relationship went something like this: Initially he just gets caught up in the childish excitement of it being a secret and it's fun. He always felt attracted to Dean so victory right? Then the confusion and frustration starts to settle in. He starts to wonder if this relationship is on the path to love or if they're just a couple of horny confused pals. He already keeps secrets for Dean, he doesn't want to ruin the idealized image Nattie has of him for example, but he realizes he doesn't like the idea of being with someone he can't even go out with, if he can even rightly say that they're "together." Between Dean needing money and a job, his lack of a clear goal or direction, his addiction, and him not even being out of the closet, he's just plain not boyfriend material the way he is. As much as Foggy finds that he likes several qualities that Dean possesses in a partner, he concludes that they're better off as friends WITHOUT benefits. So Foggy returns to the dating scene and (I'm guessing?) things smooth out between him and Dean by the time Dean goes into the military. Regardless of the past Dean can count on Foggy to have his back and you can bet he'll be routing for him to find the right person at the right time. He will SO have a word with the girl or guy that hurts him!

that sounds exactly like what I was thinking for the ultimate for their failed romantic venture. as for their friendship, dean’s a pretty easy-going guy, and I doubt that he would hold any kind of grudge towards foggy, and in fact counts him as one of those pivotal people/moments in his life because of the part that he played in helping him to clean his act and give up on at least one of his addictions. ~~the bottle is a vice he hasn’t been able to give up on, but for most part, he knows when too much is too much. usually.~~ he would still consider and treat foggy like a close friend, the kind that you can’t do without, and he wouldn’t linger on any of the baggage that might have come from their past “relationship,” had they been different people.

Sounds good to me! Foggy definitely sees Dean in a similar way as someone who made a difference in his life since he learned a lot from their confusing experience. There are no hard feelings. Dean might still have his troubles but Foggy wouldn't hesitate to tell others that he's one of his best friends.
One last question: Did they ever tell Nattie about their little fling or Dean's other problems?
Gotta say I really like this backstory. I look forward to their interactions in the game!
