AU WORKSHOP - OCTOBER
Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here.

• As per our game-wide poll, we will be holding an application round in October and in November! After that, apps will resume their bi-monthly schedule. The game calendar has now been updated with the dates for this.
• Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM.
• For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC!

SO I WAS THINKING LATELY about some ideas, if we wanted Nat and James to know each other prior to meeting in-game somehow.

1 - She/her parents (depending on if you go teen or adult with her) could be the listed godparents that the Barnes siblings would get sent to should his father die while serving. They'd know each other at least a little in this scenario, even if they don't interact all that much.

2 - I've arbitrarily decided that James doesn't play drums for his band and instead gets someone else to do them, who right now is basically a complete NPC. If Nat seems like the type to play drums and wants to be a part of James's teen angst emo band, anyway.

or 3 - we can just have them meet for the first time in game, that's always a thing too

I think she'd drum. She's going to paint, and since she uses batons in her "real life" I'm just thinking she's subconsciously awesome with anything that's remotely a stick. Paintbrush, drumsticks...

She'd be a less ditzy Melody Pussycat.

And I like the idea of the godparents more than I probably should. Because it does give them a loose history without being fully explored yet. I mean, probably knew each other better as little kids. Grew apart for a bit, now they're coming back together.

I've so far been assuming that James is the only 'physical' presence of the band and his drummer is just kinda. in the background as an NPC somewhere who records their segments separately so idk how we wanna handle the justification for why Nat's never been at any of the shows but SHRUGS, I'M SURE WE CAN FIGURE SOMETHING OUT

haha yeah most likely her parents and james's dad know each other quite well, since they're the ones who would've arranged everything! Nat and James probably would only know each other in passing though, or from seeing each other on holidays every few years or something. Moving around between different army bases your whole life doesn't give you a lot of chances to catch up with friends ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If it goes the way of Natalie being Foggy's half-sister though did you still want to do it? Natalie Nelson, yo. She gets to have the embarrassment of being taught by her big brother.

Hm, unless we maybe do it in game where she becomes his drummer? At the same time though, I could see her maybe not going up on stage to begin with if she's put her painting first for a while. Then if James has had the arm thing happen, she might decide to go on stage and support him and be around more?

haha SURE WHY NOT, let's make this extra weird and have james get taught by his god-half-brother (is that how godfamily relations work, i have no clue)

which i guess means the nelsons and the barneses must be tight

hmm well right now his band is on indefinite hiatus because he can't play guitar with just the one arm, at least right now. so there's not gonna be any gigs at all for the next however long, w h o o p s. But yeah if she puts her painting first then that could work!

Lol, I don’t either to be honest. I mean there’s no blood relation. Just a weird jumbled sort of family connection. And probably just as embarrassing because Foggy would have seen him in nappies or something idk.

Yeah, of course they would be. Oops. And naturally it just means the drums sounded way better on the recordings... She’ll just come back to the drums if he finds his way back to the music.

actually yeah reconnecting through school makes perfect sense! idk what grade you plan on having her in, but james is a junior and he's been at recolle high since the start of freshman year, so that's plenty of time to actually reconnect through being like. schoolmates.

Well I’ve got her as seventeen so if there’s a way to swing junior or I can revise her age. TBH school where I am is different so I don’t know fully what junior senior etc all is

omg nat....i say 100% do it, but he'd be so cranky about it! depending on when/if he finds out, anyway

Oooh, i see. Junior year = 11th grade = Year 12 in the British system. So like, junior year students tend to be 16 going on 17.

Pretty sure she’d just keep it for herself. Like, it wouldn’t be public viewing. She probably wouldn’t even tell him.

Ohhhhh gotcha. Makes so much more sense. Well, hm. 16 is better? Same year, same classes?
