AU WORKSHOP - OCTOBER
Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here.

• As per our game-wide poll, we will be holding an application round in October and in November! After that, apps will resume their bi-monthly schedule. The game calendar has now been updated with the dates for this.
• Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM.
• For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC!

AU NAME: Kiyoshi Nanashima (known as Kiyoshi Aihara)
AU AGE: 41
AU OCCUPATION: Waiter/musician at a tea-house, food blogger, ex-yakuza
BLURB: First of all because this got a bit long no matter how many times I tried to rewrite it: there's an AU history entry in his journal, it's a little more extensive than what's here.

Very friendly and cheerful people person who sometimes enjoys meddling in people's affairs. He doesn't love gossip as much as Gon does, but he still likes it. If he hates someone, he prefers to totally ignore them. He's more responsible than Gon is, and not as lazy. He still smokes a lot and loves food and naps, though. HE is not addicted to gambling here.
From Kansai, Japan. Mother was an ikebana master, father a lawyer and the legal advisor to a yakuza family. Kiyoshi is one of his father's several illegitimate children. Father also has some legitimate children. Rarely met his father growing up.
Was abandoned by his mother at four when she married (she has children now), left with another of his father's mistresses at seven. She was a geisha and taught him how to play shamisen and koto, and traditional dancing.
Worked at his foster mom's workplace with entertaining guests and carrying food. Also had a whole lot of sexual relationships from his early teens.
Was eventually brought into the family and put to work as a dealer at one of their casinos. Got into trouble by rigging the wrong game, where the heir to another family lost a whole lot of money. They sent him to the hospital several times.
Was at 29 sent to America by his father, and he has not spoken to him since. He became Kiyoshi Aihara. Traveled the states by hitch-hiking and paying for the ride with sex.
Ended up in Recollé at 33. Stayed longer than he intended. Was hired as a waiter at a tea house, and now plays koto and shamisen there as well. Also runs a food blog.
It's possible that he has illegitimate children of his own.

LOOKING FOR: Half siblings, since he has a lot. Lovers/clients/hookups, past or present. Children, since he did get around a lot. He could have had them since..let's say since he was 14. Other yakuza members. Friends, both those who knows his past (which is very rare) and those who doesn't. Also, other bloggers, people who read his blog, guests or co-workers at the tea-house, people from any food place he's written about, and other musically inclined people.
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: Just him for the moment. This time I actually have most of the things typed up, I just need to re-read and do some edits to the canon bits and then tweak his au history and relationships.

yo cheerful musician! possibly also previous lovers or hookups? there's a 10 year age gap but eh. (also not sure if he's into dudes) if not that i could definitely see their paths overlapping what with hizashi doing the indie music thing

That works for me! He has no preferences for gender and 10 years isn't much when you're an adult, right? Being music buddies or music acquaintances would be perfect, too.

Me too. Do you have any preferences for when they would have been hooking up?

i'd guess it'd be around when his first band was still a thing so mid-to late 40s or about 5-ish years ago?

That sounds good to me! How long did that band last, anyway?

Hey!! You were here like two workshops ago right? Majima could defs have been to his tea house! He's remembering a lot about being a yakuza and when they speak japanese together he'll get to hear majima's beautiful kansaiben

Hey! Yeah, something like that! He's welcome anytime, and Kiyoshi will happily talk Japanese with a fellow kansaiben speaker, it'll be familiar. Was Majima yakuza in his au as well, or is that only in regained memories?

Just in his memories! In the au he grew up in recolle and did a little crime but not gang level stuff. he does remember he was a boss, though, and has his sweet tattoos back.

Alright! So the tattoo will totally betray him if he ever lets Kiyoshi see it. How scary, there are yakuza bosses in town now.

Such a difference from Kiyoshi who only has the one tattoo that's not even finished. For a little while there, he might get wary about him.

Hey there! I saw that you replied to Akinobu's thread, and a lot of Kiyoshi's stuff lines up pretty well with Kouran's AU backstory -- her father owns a big construction firm in Japan and was doing business with yakuza. She was sent to Recolle because that became public knowledge + all the dirty, shady things the company did in the process. I've said she's been living with relatives in Recolle since that happened, and I think it'd be neat for Kiyoshi to be that relative (through her dad) if the rest of the players approve ~~watch as this family tree becomes more complicated over time~~

Hello! That's awesome. That it lines up, I mean. That definitely sounds neat to me, and I'd be open to that! He'd not at all mind having relatives living with him. ~~oh yes, it might end up very complicated~~

Her dad's likely one of Kiyoshi's half-siblings, which Definitely Does Not Make This A Little Awkward At All. Kouran would have been living with him for about 8~10 months, iirc, and she's kind of a sheltered baby since both her parents are really overprotective of her and sort of controlling. Like, "this is probably the first time in forever that she doesn't have to worry about a chaperone" kind of thing.

That's great!

Oh yeah, totally not awkward at all. So in a few months it'll be a whole year, they'll have to celebrate. At least he won't be overprotective or chaperoning her everywhere (besides not having that overbearing personality he has a full-time job), though ofc he'll make sure she's healthy and well taken care of. I saw that she was still small when he left Japan, but they might have met a few times before that and he definitely would have played with her those times.
