AU WORKSHOP - OCTOBER Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here. IMPORTANT INFORMATION World changes FAQ • As per our game-wide poll, we will be holding an application round in October and in November! After that, apps will resume their bi-monthly schedule. The game calendar has now been updated with the dates for this. • Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM. • For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. AU NAME: Howard Phillips Carter, because lovecraft needs to be partially his self insert OC
AU AGE: 28
AU OCCUPATION: a shut-in writer/the local weird professor's assistant at the university who is kind of sort of obsessed with shipwrecks and lost ships, let him discuss this weird amulet with you for two hours
BLURB:
- Born in Boston, was a pale and sickly child and never really grew out of that, probably almost drowned once and got a weird obsession/fear(?) of the sea from that
- Moves out to Arkham, Massachusetts after his mother passes away and his father disappears under mysterious circumstances
- After graduating, he finds his personal obsession with history relating to the sea, starts writing about it
- Literally no one cares about shipwrecks, Lovecraft...BUT he probably pointed out things that some people in the history community have never figured out
- Moved to Recolle a couple of years ago when he got an offer to give a lecture at the university there, he's stayed here ever since and became a teacher's assistant and is probably slowly working towards getting a PhD
- He's that type of teacher's assistant who is so deadpan you can't tell what he's thinking at any time but he probably gives everyone good grades because he's too lazy to really point out any flaws
- Very narcoleptic, has probably been found face down in a fountain snoozing away
- Yes, his hair is naturally that long, those are not extensions, he probably puts it up in a ponytail when he isn't too lazy to do so
- Will probably be friends with every single cat in the city. EVERY SINGLE CAT. LET HIM PET YOUR CATS!!!!!
- Is often found in bakeries and ice cream shops in his spare time, typing away at his laptop in the back corner where he hopes nobody can see him
- When he isn't in lecture he actually tries to avoid most people because he's got social anxiety up the wazoo
- There is probably a viral video of him on the internet giving the most half-hearted dab in the world after losing a bet with the students he teaches
- Dresses mostly in black, even in the summertime (has been confused for a goth but he really isn't one at all)
- This is his snapchat
- Overall he is tall and looks very intimidating but is actually shy and awkward and is kind of vaguely afraid of everyone who simply exists in his general vicinity

LOOKING FOR: ANYTHING, Lovecraft is here to somehow gain friends despite being his morose goth anxious self, though he's the type of guy who doesn't particularly care if he rubs someone the wrong way, also he's going to discover he's an eldritch monster in a human suit eventually so...that will be fun.........

Shuji is a literature major and could have either read Carter's stories for enjoyment (if they're stories) or to do research for some of his stories (if it's just him talking about shipwrecks for pages) and was probably really excited that he works in RU now..!

Talk to her about weird amulets, she's got about fifty at the shop she works at and will swap stories... and actually find them compelling. It's wonderful material for horror stories.

Hmm, Eizen travels a lot so he probably has been on the sea quite a bit (even moreso when he gets memories back), so perhaps they could just be guys who enjoy (or not enjoy depending on what view were taking) talking about the sea?

god. I remember the CR we had in Empatheias (I'm ax, I played Rei Hino/Sailor Mars) and I am so glad to see Lovecraft around again.

Here I'm playing Penelo from FFXII (AU name Penelope Raban) who's a 22 year old programming student and YouTuber. The...idea of Pen being the one who put that viral video up kind of gives me joy.

Also probably actually listens to him talking about shipwrecks because that's actually kind of neat? She just likes keeping tabs on local weirdos.

His AU self, Reid, is going to be super social and is attending college sparingly, so while I'm not sure established AU CR is super viable, developing it would be!

Oh man, hello, I remember one of my characters trying to eat your Lovecraft at Empat. He would have loved to keep him, because who wouldn't want cthulhu as a pet.

Anyway, I have a guy who's a writer in canon called Koutarou, but here he's a uni teacher and painter and also friendly and easily concerned about others so he would probably keep an eye on Howard.

As for this guy he's a going to be working at a japanese style tea house that has sweets and stuff, and he's also friendly and nosy, so I would love cr between them. He also might have two cats (but also a dog) so there's that. Plus once he remembers actually living in Japanese Hell, a person being a squid man won't be the weirdest thing he's seen or heard of, it's totally normal, every-day stuff.
