AU WORKSHOP - JUNE Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. AU AGE: Late 30s-40ish

Helicopter momI am undecided! Probably idly wealthy enough to spoil her kids, but not having any huge influence. Maybe some deposed politician's mistress. Whoever she adopts as a duckling doesn't have to be related to her, and extra irony points if they're not.BLURB:
-A haughty woman attracted to power with a questionable taste in men who does nothing to dispel the rumors about where her income comes from.
-Probably came to Recollé from elsewhere, but has been here for like 20ish years and isn't leaving, deal with it.
-Not afraid to get her hands dirty when necessary, whether it means squishing bugs or defending her spawnling with her bare hands. Almedha's surprisingly brave sometimes, and can show up in unexpected places doing unexpected things. She's not as numbed and jaded as she is in canon, since she hasn't been metaphorically neutered and powerless for decades, but she's still very possessive. Like a dragon.
-Super protective of her kid. She doesn't have any other family in the city, had a falling out with her father, and rarely speaks to her brothers. Despite living here for years, she still feels like a stranger—and clings to her child as one of the few familiar things in her life.
-Did I mention the helicopter mom thing?
LOOKING FOR: Do you play a younger character? Are they in need of an overbearing dragon mom?
No, literally, her other form's a dragon. Or was.
If I go through with this I'll be saving up for that, though.And Almedha is that kind of super invested parent who has to poke her nose into everything her kid's getting up to, mundane things or blood pacts. Come here child, let her fuss at you, don't talk to the peasants, etc etc. For this AU it doesn't matter what age or gender they are, Almedha just needs a duckling to get broody over, okay.She can be very manipulative and intrusive into her kid's life, though; I plan on toning this down, but it's not going to be for everyone and that's cool!
Adult friends are also very welcome! People she can drink tea with and complain about Kids These Days, or be snarky midlife crisis friends with, etc. Almedha's probably appeared in the Recolle social scene occasionally.

That could work! I'm thinking of having Almedha dabble in private tutoring, so that would be a convenient way for them to meet.

Maybe for her job she could do something like private tutoring, youth center manager, orphanage mother
since this is the city of orphansand for names, alma medha is a viable Indian name, or like alia madeira. amelia is more culturally neutral and appropriately posh.

Hmm. Tutor sounds like a good idea, though I think she'd be too stuck up to actually work at the orphanage. She'll just be distantly judgmental and super jealous. Empty nest syndrome feels bad, man.
I'm torn between Amelia and Alma Medha; the latter has the opportunity for her to snap at someone that they're pronouncing her name slightly wrong when she regains it, haha.

I don't think Mikleo would have any previous CR with her, but he might know of her in a general sense. Definitely interested in tagging her, though, if you bring her in! ;o;

Almedha's probably interacted with him a little if she met his mom, and she dabbles in tutoring to supplement the mystery checks from her mystery husband-who's-not-Ashnard.
I only know Zestiria through osmosis but I remember dragons being Generally Bad News, haha. This could be Terrible in an excellent way.

I just spent some time wondering if she could fit as the mother of Kurt Wagner here... Ultimately it feels like the AUs might not match up enough for it to work but I am very open to her dragon momming at him even if they're not actually related! And I'm also open for him being manipulated and such! I do want him to have less straightforwardly positive influences.

PelleasKurt genetics don't matter anyway.But hmm. Almedha's AU background isn't fully set in stone, so I could change it to her being Actually Married instead of a mistress and not being in the city as long, if you're interested!
Or we could keep the AUs as they are and she could have started to see Kurt as a replacement goldfish for her actual kid, who's grown up and left the nest and by Almedha's measure has abandoned her.

But hm I see! I do feel interest! Maybe we can get it to work, although of course don't feel obligated to change anything that you're attached to. I don't want to hijack anything! And I could potentially change/retcon some details about Kurt's parents on my end to make it work better for you if need be, too! Here is what I've established about Kurt so far, so if you have any thoughts about things that could be changed for this potential thing, feel free to let me know!
And that doesn't work out and you don't find an alternate son, then I could be fine with the replacement goldfish idea too!

I can work with Almedha having a proper husband, though an affair is optional if you need more ???? about Kurt's parentage. I'd go with Amelia as an AU name in that case. She's most likely been kind of distant with her husband since Kurt came into the picture; having a kid hit her like a ton of unhappy bricks. I don't think divorce would be on the table, they're just very neutral about each other.
I was thinking Kurt's dad would be away often on business trips/film production and generally busy and clearly not around enough for Amelia's taste. I'm not sure how big of a role you want him to have, so that could be changed if you want.
Amelia would fit scarily well as that intrusive and elitist presence in his life trying to keep Kurt away from "unsuccessful friends". Don't talk to the peasants dear, mother will be all the help you need, etc. She does hold genuine affection for her son, just expresses it in obsessive clingwrap sorts of ways. Picking up tutoring just to make sure her son's tutors were doing a good job, arranging for weekend trips to visit him while Hecklebusters was filming, and so on.
Maybe part of the agreement with Kurt going to college and accepting a smaller stipend was Amelia giving him room to breathe/agreeing to Stay Away From Him sometimes? She'd be melodramatic with it of course ("My son doesn't want to see me, how awful"), and she'd take up tutoring at the resource center on the off chance she'd get to see him more often than certain days. Empty nest syndrome, man.
As a side note there's probably a collection of every Hecklebusters DVD and copies of magazines that feature it (mostly Kurt) in her penthouse. She's not quite That Embarrassing Mom with a million pictures of her kid in her purse, but she's pretty embarrassing tbh

And wow, that all really pretty much fits together perfectly! I'm down with pretty much all of that and without any objections. With Kurt's parentage, I think I prefer for it to be clean-cut in the AU, so that the confusion can come from his remembering his canon moms. But the parents being on very neutral terms and stuff does work out. Part of my intention in thinking up his AU parents was to act as a contrast to his canon adoptive parents, so that fits quite nicely!
On the subject of Mr. Wagner, that works too! I haven't really had much of a specific purpose in mind for him aside from informing Kurt's background and being a potential source of occasional conflict in the background. Your idea of him being away traveling works perfectly! (If this plan goes through, maybe in the future we could keep our eyes open for any applicants who could potentially fit as the dad! Of course I wouldn't approach anyone about it without your approval)
BUT YEAH this sounds great and can add some conflict that I feel Kurt's been needing in his game. And it can make for even more of a wonderful hot mess as memory regains occur... thank you for being such a sport with this, and I'll definitely add you! (ahhh you're the Lucy/Kaede player! I've been meaning to tag her more too!)
