AU WORKSHOP - JUNE Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Axton \ Borderlands 2
CHARACTER: Axton
CANON: Borderlands 2
AU NAME: Axton Martin (bc i'm terrible)
AU AGE: 26
AU OCCUPATION: He'll be looking for work in security around the city, previously he was a merc, and before that he had a not great military career.
BLURB:
- Never knew his biological parents, but since he can remember he's always lived with the same foster parents along with a handful of other orphaned boys. Despite his foster parents being strict and running their house like a tiny military squadron, they provided rigid structure and discipline. Arguably something that a group of rambunctious, wayward boys could benefit from.
- At the insistence of his foster parents, he joined ROTC in high school
- Upon graduation, he joined the military as infantry. There he met and fell hard for his commanding officer, Sarah. It was a whirlwind romance, but Axton was young and head over heels for her, so he proposed. Stupidly, she said yes, and things sort of went downhill from there.
- Despite his upbringing, or maybe because of it, Axton had an overwhelming desire for glory and recognition which, unfortunately, clashes with militaristic ideas. He was amazingly skilled but terrible at his job.
- Axton lasted just shy of 5 years in the military, but after a number of increasingly significant incidences, he was politely asked to 'retire' before he caused any real trouble and was honorably discharged. Sarah was the one to deliver the news; she also told him she'd filed for a divorce and gave him back the wedding ring he'd bought her. An all around great day.
- After being discharged, he sold his expertise as a mercenary, traveling far and wide as a gun for hire
- Although the money was good, very good, mercenary work didn't usually result in cheering crowds and gratitude. He was too soft to be cut out for merc work anyway. Now Axton's found his way to Recolle hoping to find security work and a quieter existence
LOOKING FOR:
- People/businesses looking to hire him as security personnel
- Maybe fellow soldiers? Childhood friends etc.
- Casual acquaintances, since I think he'll have been in Recolle for a couple of weeks at least.
- Not sure what else. I'm a newbie to this game and this is kind of terrifying.

aka hi I play Bucky and I'm always on a quest to round up all the military-related characters for more MILITARY CR
even though bucky's 16 and isn't in the military at all. BUT he's got a lot of respect for people who are/were!! I don't know quite how to make this CR work, exactly (maybe they were on the same base when Axton was still military and could've known each other in passing?) but I want something here.

i was thinking, since recolle has a military base, that axton likely trained there, and then returned to recolle after his time abroad. there's a 10 year age gap and axton isn't exactly buddy buddy with the military anymore... hmm hmm... so how to do this?
maaaaybe hmmm could he have served with bucky's father? the timelines don't quite line up as for when axton was at fort mccoy and when bucky's family was around. axton was 18/19 then, which means 6 years too early. BUT in that timeframe of when bucky's father/family was in s. korea i think axton could've been stationed there.

but HELL YEAH, i'm down for them knowing each other in south korea! there's not many other people to know aside from those on base, when you're international hahaha. If Axton was 18/19 then, Bucky would've found him to be like. A Cool Adult. And this would've been right when he was starting to build a reputation for being a snotty fight-starter, if. if that's a thing that axton would care about HAHAHA

for people like me to creep on?so at fort mccoy he was 18/19, likely just a tiny bit older 19-21 would've been his age in s. korea. so, when bucky was 9-11. i think they'd be able to recognize one another. only 5ish years ago

hell yeah, i mean i made it more for myself to not contradict my own backstory for him, but if it helps other people too then all the betterahhh okay yeah! yeah I think it wouldn't be too different. Bucky's grown out his hair and started wearing a lot of eyeliner in the years since, but other than that he's not...too different? And I'm sure they could recognize each other by name on Retrospec, since. "Axton Martin" isn't all that common HAHAHA
they can have a nice little reunion! or something. a reunion of swapping stories of what they've been doing since s. korea. that won't be awkward at all.
