Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. This is VERY tentative and I'm not sure if I'd app during this round anyway, as I've got a lot going on at the moment, but I miss playing her and I was spitballing ideas w/ myself for the past couple of months...

AU NAME: Jasmine Musicrelatedlastname
AU AGE: I was thinking early-mid 20s? But dang look at this teen revolution on the workshop here.
AU OCCUPATION: Some kind of civil service, nonprofit work, law school? A career in justice, basically, or at least something where she thinks she’s helping others.
BLURB:

❀ The second child in a very large family who got used to acting like the oldest anyway. It’s very likely her fam contributes to the very high orphan population in Recolle.
❀ She’s very responsible and a classic overachiever. It’s likely that I’ll give her a history in music—probably she’s quite talented or at least has worked hard enough that she has a lot of skill or she is just mind-numbingly awful. It’s one of two extremes lmao. She has synesthesia and it’s really intrusive, but she doesn’t talk about it a lot. It’s sound related, but I’m not sure which specific type just yet. If it’s chromosthesia, the loss of blue and green is probably ruining her life.
❀ Given her canon origins in a fantasy (no matter how much it looks like an upside-down map of Europe), I’m thinking about making her a Recolle native. That means like, 20 years of potential CR! She probably had an opportunity to go out of town for college and may or may not have taken it (chances are she wanted to stay close to home).
❀ She’s involved with a lot of service projects but ends up leaving a lot of them because she doesn’t always give the friendliest first impression. The fact that the world is kind of garbage most of the time has definitely caught up with her and she’s jaded or w/e. There are certainly people she’d take a bullet for, but you wouldn’t know that right away despite her really obvious attachment to doing good in the world.
❀ Because she is a real adult in this universe and there’s no magic BS currently going on with her body, her growth isn’t stunted and she looks…her age, more like the adult form she had for .5 seconds in one of the spin-off manga (essentially, taller with longer hair).

LOOKING FOR:

❀ I feel like it’d be a waste to bring her into a family without a metric ton of siblings. I’d basically hit my gold star goal if flower-based names ran in her family because blah blah Drakengard…That’s my dream situation. Just six+ kids all named after plants. But honestly, I’d be happy w/ a lot of like, wild family situations. It’s just gotta be a mess in some way.
❀ Any AU work relationships of friendships she gets would probably influence what career I chose for her, so throw what you’ve got at me! I could definitely use some help coming to a decision about that one because there are a lot of ways I could go with this and I’m a little spoiled for choice right now!
❀ People who know her more cheerful/friendly side or who have been friends with her for a long time would also be very welcome! Alternatively, she needs at least one “I fucking hate that guy” nemesis.

OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: Have you ever wanted to put a Yoko Taro character into a normal universe and slowly unravel any sense of their world being remotely unkind as they slip further and further into uncontrolled, desperate madness? Have you ever wanted to watch someone else do it? Help me out here.

Alternatively, I’d totally put Nanami Kiryuu from Utena in here if I could figure out an interesting AU for her.

shay i've been wanting to put utena in here for ages but i can't think of a good au other than "sensitive thug soft butch art student"

if i app tifa/tiffany or w/e they could be music buddies and also like, community service buddies, but tifa's super!! bubbly and is good at people and not really jaded yet (and probably never will be) so idk how well they'd mesh. probably good?? idk. tifa's one of those people that's hard not to like even if you don't wanna

they could've been buds for a long time since i'm thinking Recolle native for her too.

ok here i am for real. YEAH THOUGH idk why it's so hard to au a middle school student into another middle school student but it's SO HARD to come up with good ideas for Utena characters...even if I'd really like to.

I would like that a lot, honestly! Like, Tifa is super bubbly and all but she also seems to be like genuinely interested in being a good person so they could probably find some common ground there even if they didn't always get along. Plus, if they've know each other for a long time, she would have had the chance to see Jas-One in her bubblier days, too.

it's bc they're in the school that isn't a school as much as a creepypasta masquerading as a school...the struggle is real.

i dig it! especially them having known one another for a while...tifa would be lowkey sad about it because she's like, that kind of guy.

i don't care about capital letters anymore. but yeah i agree...and then i like try and make an au and i want it to be interesting, but it's hard not to just write IN THE REAL WORLD, THESE KIDS ARE IN THERAPY. :( but i miss these creepy pasta wayside school teens.

DON'T BE SAD, TIFA...no, be sad, because she's probably way more of a buzzkill than she used to be. make sure she gets out and has some fun or something...

i'm gonna try and post to the tdm this weekend i think, cause i could def use the distraction. even if i don't app this month, we could try getting to the bottom of this friendship.

they could be in therapy. omg. they could be in like, group therapy. can you imagine utena and nanami in group therapy...they pretend not to know each other when they're not in therapy

WHICH IS TO SAY if you ever wanted to give the drakengard 3 cast a quirky dysfunctional but heartwarming family au and then slowly strip that away from them with the truth, i'd be happy to hash ideas out for that! ( ´ ▽ ` )b

HELLO STRANGER it's always exciting to see Zero players around. I love her a lot, even if I ended up RPing this asshole instead.

Honestly, so many Yoko Taro roleplayers crawled out of the woodwork for this workshop that I may be convinced, but I'll have to see how TDMing/reserves go as well as my rl stuff, so...who knows, I'm weak.

And I am ALWAYS here for establishing a fake happy family dynamic and slowly destroying it over time. I saw your comment on the meme, and I'm really into shady-but-sometimes-trying Zero, and I feel like that shadiness would just feed into One's own sensitive about being righteous. Because, you know...even if they're a closer family this time around, I'm sure they still probably get along the least. Was there anything you were thinking about in terms of their relationship (if they did end up in Recolle)?

one is a great asshole too though, all the sisters are really... well except two but :') that's yoko taro for you, making the cutest one suffer the most.

honestly i'd need to canon review before even actually apping LMFAO but likewise man i did not expect the amount of yoko taro rpers... this might speed up when i app but we'll see we'll see!

BUT YEAH i thought the same for zero and one too honestly, they probably bicker a lot. zero might be shady for the sake of trying for her family but it's not like she'd actually tell everyone that (just another instance of zero having important info that'd be better shared but she just DOESN'T MENTION IT, although once again one is probably clever enough to figure that out on her own). i was thinking that one probably tries to nag zero into doing something more meaningful with her life instead of just unhelpful shady antics which she blows off, while zero probably backhandedly tries to advise one to take a break from things and not work herself to death which she likewise blows off. they also probably take potshots at each other about being unsociable and friendless because lbr here even in a happier au they're probably pretty friendless..........

also there's a good chance that baren down in the comments here is gonna be an ex/friends with benefits for zero so if one knows him as THAT GUY SHE FUCKING HATES that's another level of antagonism to add for zero and one HAHAHA

THAT'S JUST WHAT I'VE THOUGHT ABOUT THOUGH did you have anything else in particular for what their relationship might be like?

GOD I sincerely hope that the Baren/Zero thing pans out because it would make One have a complete aneurysm. She'd be completely frothing mad.

I really like those ideas, honestly. I think even though One in canon kind of didn't want to deal with Zero's shit from the start, One is this AU probably started out admiring her quite a bit...just to make the disillusionment and tension more heartwrenching, I think. One probably wanted her affection and still does!! and wants to give hers to others but is still very bad at showing it. But there's probably still more attachment there regardless...I mean, we wouldn't want to waste the trauma involved in getting back memories of trying to gank each other, right?

At first I kind of wanted everybody to be legit blood related, but the more I think about it, the more I wonder if they should be fosters/adopted? It might make more sense with there being a lot of them very close in age, but I'm happy to hear your thoughts on this one.

ALSO DO YOU HAVE...any brilliant ideas for a last name? I'm still totally stuck even if I know I want it to be something music related even if it's really obscure.

edit: I'm probably gonna throw something up on the TDM tonight even if I'm still not sure about apping this round, providing I stop feeling kind of shitty. I know you were planning on reviewing before committing but I'd definitely be happy to dick around there a bit if you want!

THE BAREN/ZERO THING WILL ALMOST FOR SURE HAPPEN IF THIS ALL HAPPENS and it cracks me up... one is going to have such a hard time

but yeah i really like all that! i feel like they must care about each other a lot, but they're both just really bad at showing it... neither of them knows how to openly show affection well. no matter how badly they get along remembering that they wanted to kill each other with all their heart will probably be horrifying.

i've been thinking about it too and yeah being fosters/adopted makes more sense in the long run i think. i still have it so that zero remembers her mom abandoning her, but if they were all blood-related figuring out the logistics of everyone's ages and why they wouldn't remember it as well would probably be hard/weird. like maybe her mom just keeps coming back every year to dump a new baby at the orphanage, but as awful as that'd be it's also kind of crazy LMFAO. the only reservation i really have is if some (maybe all?) of them got adopted then i wonder how long zero did shit to try and support everyone, but that probably wouldn't be too hard to work around.

I REALLY LIKE HAVING A MUSIC RELATED LAST NAME although it'll probably make them sound italian or german haha, but after looking at a musical term glossary on wikipedia hmm... assai, bellicoso, calando, geteilt, melisma, and rubato all appeal to me for meanings, and i feel like they're obscure enough that they almost sound like they could be names haha.

and yes i will definitely tag you on the tdm!! i'll probably throw something on there myself too, BUT I'M READY TO DICK AROUND FOR THIS DYSFUNCTIONAL YOKO TARO FAMILY.

Considering she's in social work potentially, there's the option of fellow part-time volunteers on local service projects she might have run into, yes?

Yes, it's very likely! She would have had her hands in a lot of different pots trying to get a lot done. Especially as a young adult, trying to figure out what's best and then being VERY DETERMINED that she knows what's best.

Chloe mostly does habitat for humanity and beautification projects as a rule. So it would be that type of project, and she's dealt with endearing do gooder types, so she'd enjoy the company even when she doesn't see eye to eye.

I'm just gonna pop in and jump on the "Wow, wouldn't a totally dysfuntional YokoTaro family be amazing" and say if you decide to app, I would be very down for being part of that mess.

GOD PLEASE, it would just be so much fun to watch unravel. And why stop at immediate family? Yoko Taro cousins, Yoko Taro neighbors...pets... One and her weirdly religious photographer cousin.

Plus I've always wanted to see crossover between Drakengard and Nier characters interacting. There are just so many like...really hard-headed, stubborn personalities in those games that even when they got along I feel like there'd be a lot of shredding one another.

baren only showed up in recolle 3 years ago but he's basically chaos incarnate. he never shows up for class but tends to pass because he's oftentimes a lot more intelligent and well-learned than he lets on, but he fucks up group projects because he doesn't give a shit about anyone in his group 98% of the time. he'd probably find her overachiever attitude hilarious and go out of his way to antagonize her. he's also a staple at the party scene and has earned himself the moniker party satan

NICE. That's exactly the kind of lapse in order she would just completely hate. I don't think she'd have much of a party scene presence, but I figure she would have networked enough that the name of Party Satan would have reached her ears. Especially if she's young enough to have served on the Honor Board or w/e at school. Someone has to stop the lord of chaos!

(Actually, when I saw Baren on the cr meme the other day I was already thinking about how I wanted CR with him and Nui, who WOULD actually go to parties, so this is just more incentive to see where that goes!)

yeah i didn't want to say anything in case you were a fan but that manga is hot garbage. at least utahime 5 has redeeming qualities despite also being mostly garbage. it's too bad he only gets a few moments to shine, really, and is locked in a closet somewhere otherwise.
