AU WORKSHOP - APRIL Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here. Marcell Csorba | OC
CHARACTER: Marcell Csorba
CANON: Original. Come from a fantasy world that is roughly analogous to the turn of the 19th century, complete with nation states jockeying for power and influence and Politics. Marcelll is a poor sap whose life has been a Wild Ride. He's been a street urchin, petty thief, small-time cardsharp, a doctor’s assistant, then a butler, and a clerk at mercenary guild, just to give you an idea the kind of roller coaster he's been on.
AU NAME: Marcell Matsuoka né Csorba
AU AGE: 34
AU OCCUPATION: Tailor
BLURB:
- Yukine's stepmomdad, happily married to dad.
- Originally a Recolle native, his mom was a Hungarian immigrant and dad was a uni student on a sabbatical. They were dumb young adults; dad had cold feet when mom started trying to bring up marriage and bailed unceremoniously without realising a kid was on the way, oops.
- M...much unfun ensued, to say the least. Single mom under a lot of pressure and nowhere near ready to raise a child is not great. Eventually committed suicide when Marcell was 10.
- Social services manages to track down his dad, now starting up his own toy company, and Marcell gets placed in his custody. Dad is a deeply awkward man who also does not know how to be a parent, but tries his best to take responsibility for this mess he's unknowingly made. At this point Marcell moves out of Recolle and is pretty comfortably middle class with his dad.
- Was a quiet child and frequently bullied because of his meekness and 'girly' hobbies. During high school had a period of acting out and was something of a delinquent. Mostly harmless stuff like sneaking out and (attempts at) smoking, though he was also a serial shoplifter before he got caught. He likes to pretend this period never happened.
- After getting caught for the above, got his act together. Studied accounting in college at his father's insistence and is, in fact, a certified accountant.
- So clearly what he does instead is not get a job as an accountant and decide to take an apprenticeship as a tailor because this is his calling, damn you. Worked as a tailor in the same shop for some time.
- At some point meets Yukine's dad and ends up helping around after the divorce, eventually this leads to them dating and marrying.
- Moved back to Recolle since husband's job is transferring him there + thinks the change in location will be good for Yukine after the 'freak baseball accident'.
- Has opened up his own tailoring store in Recolle. It offers rental services for formalwear, but the main service is bespoke tailoring and made-to-measure dresses.
- Big fussy mom type. The mom friend is him. Ranges between naggy mom and nurturing mom, depending on the other person.
- This means he'll also nag people who are younger than him and unofficially adopt people as child/younger sibling figures.
- Can come off as high strung; he's a pretty serious, polite and meticulous sort of person. Workaholic.
- Easy to tease and fluster. As it turns out being an awkward child means he's only sort of less awkward as an adult, he's just good at being a professional to cover it up.
- Hobbies include sewing, knitting, cooking, cleaning, dr...inking...he likes to keep his hands busy.
- Semi-devoted Catholic, occasionally volunteers for church outreach and charity programs. His feelings on faith are a little Complicated as a Catholic who ended up being raised by Protestant family.
LOOKING FOR: -Friends! Whether current friends or childhood friends who may have known him while he was still living in Recolle or during high school, whatever.
- MORE FAMILY. Csorba is his mother's surname which he kept even after he started living with his dad, and I can easily imagine he eventually got married and Marcell might have half-siblings from this. Cousins and other relatives are also acceptable!
- Kids and/or young adults he nags and fusses over and may or may not have basically adopted. Especially if they are shy or troubled.
- If you are friends with Yukine you may know him as the somewhat embarrassing mom.
- Employees for his tailoring store, whether they're full-time or interns/apprentices! He's pretty strict and perfectionist, but will do his best to encourage developing their skills and creativity. Also maybe remind your boss to take a break because he's, bad about being a workaholic sometimes.
- Customers/clients for his store, whether it's for the rentals or because they want a fancy suit/dress made just for them.
- Drinking buddies he goes out with occasionally. He likes his alcohol, though he's generally responsible enough to be designated driver/sober person for a group.
- Shady types so he can question his life decisions once he regains memories about his own past shadiness.
- Whatever else come at me bro.
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: I have another OC on the workshop, Kouran, forget what I said about my N/A earlier because Kimmeh is a dirty, dirty enabler. Whoever doesn't get apped this round will be apped the next round, time permitting.

Yato has probably needed to rent nice clothes for his myriad odd jobs/interviews over the years (he's been in Recolle for three) so maybe he and Marcell can have a casual business relationship? If Marcell would ask, Yato would gladly tell him about whatever new job he has lined up, etc...
the irony of Yukine's parent knowing Yato's every move while Yukine is still searching for him just makes me laugh tbh

His store would have been open for about two months or so ICly, but he'd be happy to have a regular customer this soon! He's very meticulous and depending on how much the clothes need to fit might even ask if the employees could come in for measurements.

Also yes please Marcell also has some some shady and criminal shit in canon so clearly he needs to know some shady people in order to question his own life decision somewhere down the line.
