dante just throws his hands up and folds his arms and watches with both eyebrows raised... baren has probably been the cause of him peacing out of parties multiple times bc NOPE THIS IS GONNA END POORLY AND I'M NOT GETTING CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE 8|

oh NO BAREN WHY NO :( :( :( So here's what I'm thinking y/n the two of them had a gen ed class together a couple years ago, they were both 19ish, Kath caught him once having an Informed Opinion about something and so kind of got interested because wow this mess of a human being actually Knows Things there's a story here :o and the two of them wound up dating for a. Idk how long period of time?? Probably not very long though bc Kath would've been poking at him to try and figure out where that Intelligent Young Man came from and how she can bring it back out and then yeah he probably would've needled back at her and please let him have met her father and started calling out the conservative bullshit right then and there at the dinner table????? Because holy shit she would have been mortified and like. Kicked him under the table multiple times to try and get him to shut up shut up why can't you shut up your opinions are Wrong stop and afterwards yeah Yeah there would've been a big argument because you can't just talk to my FATHER like that while trying to defend the conservative arguments and MESSY ALL AROUND?????

idk WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS because then we kind of get all three of those wrapped into one hideous whole |D

to be fair baren probably also runs from those same parties tHEY PROBABLY GET WAY OUT OF HAND BECAUSE BAREN THRIVES ON IT

LAUGHS. ON THE RARE DAY THAT BAREN ENDED UP IN CLASS YES. but they probably... weren't dating for that long at all..... bc the longer kath poked on him, the less patience he'd have. he respects women and admires them but he hates people poking into his private life so he probably ended up on his best behavior so he could have that meeting with her father.

and then called out the entire family at dinner with thinly veiled insults and dropping all the facts he has with "oh! read it in a book!" and laughed at her big argument afterward. probably said something like "just wondered where a sharp mind got so dulled to the real world and I got my answers. see ya, kathy. I'm done here."

bc baren's an asshole with zero patience and he probably still smiles and waves at her on campus.

but they almost definitely didn't last even a month. three weeks max. and he probably went out of his way to never show a single informed opinion to kath again just bc he got so stubborn and irritated with her

It will be a forever shame, because goodness he's still so good-looking but that personality... as she tightens her arms on her books and refuses to acknowledge him
