MANNNNN I really really love the first option? It'd add a really interesting twist to his current CR pool, I think! idk how the relationship would be exactly because Jack probably pushed his luck all the time when he was younger and put his wife in danger by extension, so that could offer some tension if we wanted to go that way! He wasn't directly responsible for her death, but I'm running with the idea that the sort of work Jack did was shady enough to put them in the crossfire/pretty much made her a target by association. I've left stuff about his first wife pretty vague, so if you wanted to, we could totally hammer something out together!

Tony would also have the (questionable) honor of being literally the only person Jack listens to, so. grats buddy??

No, but I think him being the Snape to Jack's James sounds fun. HOW IN-DEPTH DO WE WANT TO GO?? I imagine in general Tony would be like "it's your fault" even if it'd been something as innocuous as a drunk driver, soooo. Up to you if you'd want Tony to have full details of what went down or just have been there after the fact to pick up the check for her tombstone and grave plot or some such. Kinda figuring this would have gone down before Tony hit his stride and started making the mega bucks, but still pulling in a respectable amount.

Which probs makes it even more of a bitch Jack's teaching and Tony's partying with hot 30somethings dolled up to be 20somethings Coping is one hell of a drug????? I say as if Tony's entire life isn't coping laughs.

BUT I'D LOVE TO GO FULL INTO THIS, definitely! Tony would've gotten the full deets as one of her close friends and gotten to hear that it was pretty much Jack's fault for the kind of shit he was involved in; idk if you want to say they had a big dramatic fight over it or if Jack just turned tail and let someone else be the bearer of bad news, but yeah, he would've heard! And also probably heard that Jack dumped their daughter off on relatives and ran off like a piece of shit, idk, how much resentment do we want on a scale of one to a zillion because we can go pretty gd high here. Maybe someone tried to shoot him and his wife got caught in the crossfire?

ngl I'm super invested in the Snape/Lily/James dynamic going here, because like... Tony's probably the respectable dude with the decent job and the great personality, but Jack is just disgustingly charming and has the bad boy appeal to make up for being poor and uneducated and technically homeless? Look I'm a huge sucker for #drama god help me.

We can make this worse okok LOL. Let's say Jack told Tony and they had a fight and maaaaybe Tony's a little responsible for Jack running out on Angel? Got hella up in his face and told him he'd better not do to Angel what he did to [wife] and he needs to turn his goddamn life around. Tbh if you are up for it I'd love to play this out, on the tdm or wherever it's all good.

But yeah I am imagining Jack would have been the more appealing option. Especially since Tony's parents are quite the work in narcissism and this would be before he cut them off; ain't no one got time for mooching in-laws who talk shit to your face constantly.

I'm not 100% on whether Angel is going to be that daughter or another illegitimate kid from somebody else (sorry Angel), but Tony can definitely be part of the reason he decided to go deadbeat and then totally get blamed for it decades later, because that's the reasonable and adult option here. Also idk let's say his wife's name was Sofia or smth like that, [wife] is probably kind of a mood killer mid-thread.

Basically their entire past CR can be summed up in this icon, I love it.
