Hello you said the word Catholic and have therefore summoned me ┻┳|☆_☆)

Anyway, as the poorly-shooped pb icon above indicates, Karl is a priest! And while his church, St. Anthony's, is definitely not the only Catholic parish in town, it is the biggest and also the seat of the local bishopric. And also they have Latin Rite masses which might be the closest thing to a vernacular Italian mass this poor guy is gonna get?

But yeah Karl has only lived in Recollé for about six months (he's from west Oregon) so if they know eachother it won't have been for vey long, but by the sound of it Guido will probably have been hired and fired from like four goddamn jobs in that span of time which would undoubtedly make him Concerned.

i'm certain that mista's mom would have like, reached out to whatever the most significant parish in recolle was and metaphorically grabbed the priest by the collar like plEASE LOOK AFTER MY STUPID SON, so this totally works out. the message could have been passed along by whoever the previous priest was like "so yo heads up this guy's mom will literally call you from italy"

and yes that job timeline is about right, rip. he would also be p notable as like, a pretty irreverent person generally who is somehow at the same time totally serious about his faith. #itscomplicated. i do want mista to have a solid foundation in the church for when he starts getting his canon memories back to make his life as difficult as possible \o/

lol Well Karl is not really the pastor/rector, he's actually the most junior priest in the parish, but I've already established that he tends to get a lot of paperwork and other unpleasant jobs foisted off onto him, so he's more than likely to end up shoved toward any Guido-related situations that the bishop and the actual rector don't want to deal with :U

And Karl's pretty cool with some low-level irreverence as long as it's clear that the person is ultimately firm in their faith and respectful when it really counts, so he'd probably get on fine with him in that dimension :3

lol yeah i feel like mista is def easy to interpret as a lost cause! he is a wayward youth. but his faith is pretty firm. he would not want to no longer be catholic because among other reasons his mama would be real sad. this is def gonna be interesting cr though, i'm looking forward to it!
