AU NAME: Jackson "Jack" Overland
AU AGE: 18
AU OCCUPATION: High school student/Part-timer at an ice cream shoppe

BLURB:

-Senior at Recolle HS and one of the best hockey players in school. Also known for his somewhat unusual style of play as he throws in figure skating moves in here and there when dodging and weaving and getting around the opponents.
-This is because he had a little sister who was very much into figure skating and he often spent time with her after hockey practice to help her with her skating, often learning the moves with her.
-Sadly, he lost her when he was 12 and she was 8 in a car accident. He and his father survived, but she didn't make it. Jack had stopped skating for several years after that, it wasn't until high school that his father helped convince him to try again when they moved to Recolle.
-He decided to remember in the way he knew how and that was to do the thing she'd always wanted, not that he could ever be an actual figure skater, but using the very same moved she learned.
-Jack himself is a very friendly guy and loves kids, he sometimes plays harmless pranks but all in all, he's the guy not many can dislike because he tries to make it so people are happy. It has helped him move past his own grief. Most likely would be someone who volunteers at the YMCA or something similar to it or likes helping out at city events like fairs and whatnot that would involves having fun with kids and teens.
-He's not a loner this time around since, obviously, people can see him and he likes hanging out with people.
-Although he is a bit of a secret nerd when it comes to all things myth/folklore based. He adores the stories, and if the option is given in school, he'll take the corresponding class. He's basically like Jamie Bennet, Big Foot and Santa are so real, fite me
-He'll most likely minor in the subject in college if Hockey is still a thing once he graduates, he's unsure if he wants to play professionally or not. Otherwise, he might put the hockey stick down and focus on literature and such.
-Also, Jack will be a brunette here with heterochromia, one brown eye and one blue eye.

LOOKING FOR: Friends, mostly. Wouldn't mind a dad character actually being his dad if anyone wants to go that route. Aside from that, mostly friendly CR, although I'm not opposed to negative CR either.

Minako works for the volunteer association called ReVA and devotes basically half her life to it, so maybe they could've seen each other around? c: She has a sweet tooth and would absolutely visit the ice cream place enough for a membership card or something too

IN ANY CASE, ice cream membership would definitely be a thing, probably knows her from her maxing them out so often?? Also, he would definitely see her around school, ye! He likes chatting and such, even if he might not remember people's names (he'll no doubt remember Minako tho xD)

she's actually been AU aged up to being a sophomore university student so maybe not around school but YES she would slap down those full stamp cards with a grin each time all "free ice cream now please"

he could ply her with the unique flavor of the month and she would try them all

Why you gotta be aged up??? Huff!!! No, I'm kidding, I'm was contemplating the same but I figured Senior would be best.

gotta keep the balance between high schoolers and university students in this game somehow lmfao also if he's gonna go to college she can help him with boring application stuff

I hear you like spending time with kids.

Aang here is a foster kid who has way too much independence. Maybe he and Jack could be friends? Aang is a good kid who is good fun to have around and could use older friends to keep him out of trouble.

As a side note, super jazzed to still see RotG peeps! I've been considering bringing in Sandy myself.

Aang would love that. He just really likes being active and spending time with people. Plus, it would be good fodder for eventual remembering his experiences with the Water Tribes and/or freezing himself in a block of ice.

I've been thinking of maybe having him being an old art teacher at the local school.

Definitely, especially if Jack tells Aang about remember things about ice and snow a lot too!

laughs softly, Yuri's a prickle puss on his own but! if Jack's spending time at the ice rink in the city, Yuri works various odd shifts there around school and dance and dance gigs, as a kind of nod in passing to knowing each other. he's just recently started doing some figure skating offhand at the rink in the last, say, two months? ish... thereabouts

but yes! not............. sure how much that does but throws it out there gently anyway

o/ I have Sorey here who student teaches history at the high school a few days a week. He'd probably end up teaching Jack's class if you'd like (they're not too far apart in age either, Sorey's just about to turn 21). Sorey's a huuuuuge history nerd. Their personalities are pretty similar, so I feel like they'd get along pretty well. Sorey could also use some reminders to loosen up now and then~ he's not super strict on his kids, but boy is he strict on himself.

Jack would love history, and Sorey sounds like a teacher he'd like! Especially someone for Jack to tease about being so strict~ And maybe unintentionally give him regains about Bunny idk

yeah, sorey's skipped school all of ONCE - to go to a museum. And his grades, minus one semester, and pretty much impeccable??? He's very straight laced, lmao. HE'S A FUN GUY just... /gestures to all of that

They can have debates about whether [mythological figure] was real or not.

I feel like Jack would have pretty good grades, not straight As but still! He's thinking about college, after all, haha. Jack will need to get him to have more fun! /pushes him into a pool.

Just zipping in to say Jack as a hockey player is everything I've ever needed in my life. Actually all of this is really neat, I really like the framework for an AU Jack. (I also like Jack with heterochromia, that's a really cool touch as a throwback to his transition from his living self to his guardian self.)

In terms of CR! I have Hiro who I'm hoping to app this round set as a 15 year old college student but he also has a lot of friends in high school so he'll be Around. It's entirely possible he might just know Jack in passing? But furthermore I also have Luke who's 23 but part of his background is that he also volunteers esp in the summer to do like day camp programs and stuff working with kids. Luke's lived in Recollé his whole life so there might also be some overlap there, too.

Either way this looks great!

Thank you!! It was a lot of fun to come up with, including heterochromia. I always liked that concept for an AU and the character had canonically changed eye colors for whatever reason :)

I would certainly be up for Jack being friends with both Luke and Hiro tbh! I'm sure we can make Hiro and Jack work somehow, Luke and Jack could have easily met during camp or events, ye! I think Jack moved there when he was about 14/15 so there's a few years in there for past CR as well!
