AU NAME: Fiacre Lachance (usually shortens it to 'Fai' as a nickname)
AU AGE: 30-ish
AU OCCUPATION: Social worker and Masters student
BLURB:

• Born in France, lived there until he was 8 or 9 years old. His family was wealthy but intensely abusive. He had a habit of climbing out onto the roof to hide and try to regain some sanity; after a particularly bad episode his twin brother tried to climb up to the roof to find him, slipped and fell to his death. Fai still blames himself.

• His father was killed in a car accident, and his mother committed suicide shortly thereafter, leaving Fai to live with his abusive grandfather. After his grandfather's death, Fai was adopted by his uncle and moved to Recollé.

• He's an immensely talented musician and performer. He can play almost any instrument, although he prefers the violin. After high school he attended RU and earned a bachelors in Composition and Music Theory. He still doodles bits of music when he's bored and has a stash of songs he's written in a box under his bed.

• In college he ended up performing at a burlesque club and doing occasional drag shows. Being a natural performer he was very popular, and after he got his degree he just... kind of kept working at the club, instead of pursuing a songwriting career. Which was all well and good until one of his fans/regulars went a bit off-tilt and stabbed him outside the club. After that he quit the club and went through a couple bad years of prescription drugs and withdrawing from the world at large.

• He finally cleaned himself up and decided to go back to school, this time for a degree in social work so he could help people who had to go through shitty situations like his own childhood. He now holds a bachelors in Social Work and is pursuing a Masters so he can get his clinical license. He does a lot of field work, since he needs the experience and since he's the low man on the totem pole in the local office.

• Workaholic. Tries too hard to do too much and is probably going to burn himself out trying to help everyone ever. Still lives in vague terror of someone recognizing him from his years of working at the club.

• Loves sweets, music, alcohol, trashy romance novels and cats. And clothes. Good lord this man is a clothes horse.

LOOKING FOR: Professional acquaintances/friends, friends from the burlesque/drag scene? People to recognize him from the burlesque club. Ex-boyfriends? People from school. Neighbors (he's going to be in an apartment). IDK if you have an idea throw something at me??

OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: Would do terrible, unspeakable things for castmates (particularly Kurogane /cough)

REPORTING FOR DUTY with another human disaster / manic pixie dream boy w terrible coping mechanisms aiming to be a social worker! Like I mean there is no way these two could go wrong in close proximity, none whatsoever...

...ok I'm canon-blind but based on that description right there I'm absolutely sold.

I poked through Souji's info, since he's quite a bit younger... maybe he's either already job shadowed with Fai or needs to shortly? (And then everyone regrets this decision and putting these two in a room together)

And YES that sounds like an excellent suggestion. This dork needs hands-on experience, he gets referred to Fai because of similar temperaments... Everyone is immediately filled with Regrets as they in absence of their canon Token Grumps / boyfriends to poke set about to ruin the world \o/

Sounds good! We could probably stretch the job shadow thing out for a while for maximum effect and hilarity too, I would think ;)

I approve of this... And Soujirou needs a mentor to help him be the aggressive extrovert he's meant to be. (Too bad he's also a workaholic and treats past problems as if they never happened, some bad habits will be enabled on both sides, I feel it.)

also maybe my in-game character Koutarou knows him from when Fai studied music stuff and Koutarou studied art? (also his bff/ex-roomie is a cop so...yep) he's not going to tell a soul about Fai's secrets.

Yes to both! I'm waffling between one or two cats for Fai (and how canon-oriented to name them) so he would definitely love a cat buddy.

And I would really love someone to have known him since his music days, just because it's such a change from what he's doing now, so that would be perfect! :)

SOCIAL WORKER... I think it'd be interesting if Reigen somehow ended up working with Fai to any degree, since he was in the process of adopting a kid! Especially since Reigen pulled the kid off the streets himself and was fighting to also be the one to adopt him and was fighting hard for it - Reigen probably had to be pretty thoroughly evaluated and regularly checked on.

If that's not the kind of social work that Fai does though, there's also the option of Fai somehow being involved with Reigen's business - Reigen used to be a normal nurse, just enough to be able to prescribe medicines, but recently (past 6ish years) has been a homeopathic doctor in the area. He potentially has some less severely addictive pain treatments he could have offered Fai? Most of what he sells is placebo before sending people for proper medical treatment, but he also just does massages, meditation and prescribes marijuana. Plenty of options if you want to tie them on that end.

Or, heck, both?? Or any other ideas!

I really like both of these ideas! I picture Fai as only having been an active social worker for the past two years or so, but maybe he went through a mentor program while he was in school and his mentor was the one on Reigen's case?

...which would be even more hilarious if Reigen knew him from around the time he was stabbed. 'OH HEY IT'S... YOU....' But yes Fai probably needed someone to help get him off the painkillers so that would work out great!

Also if they keep running into each other like this, Fai is going to insist that they be friends. To the tune of bringing them baked goods and checking up on them (just because he cares, not for work) and dragging Reigen out to do Adult Things because he needs to take care of himself too. :3

Roughly the same age, both eccentric types.... I could see Kasen being an ex in this case. He's not exactly Out and About with his sexuality, but most people just kind of assume he is anyways, and in the art community that doesn't seem to mean anything either.

Any preference on how long ago it was, if the split was amicable, all that?

Kasen is a super eccentric/esoteric artist and patron. he's lived in Recolle for 15? ish years, has problems connecting with his brother, and with people in general. he's just not very good at being a Person who sees other People as anything other than artworks to be examined, so I imagine that's where the problems came up.

like I imagine it's flattering for anyone to be seen as a "muse" at first, but after awhile, yeah... gets old.

If you want to go back as far as 7 or 8 years, Fai would still have been doing burlesque and would have made a hell of a pretty muse (not that he wouldn't now, but I can see that sort of thing appealing to an artist a lot more than a harried grad student LOL). And that actually works perfectly, since Fai has self-loathing/self-esteem issues and it would have messed with his head to be seen as not much more than a piece of art--he would have got that enough at work, and lumping it on from a boyfriend would be like salt in the wound.

If we do that, we can say they fell out of touch afterward and maybe they can reconnect shortly after Fai gets in the game for maximum awkward? Like Fai would have tried to make the split friendly but... still super awkward. (and fun :D )

So, this one likes to use fake IDs to sneak in clubs. When did he get out of the burlesque scene? Depending on how long ago it was, she might recognize him from there.

I figure maybe 5 or 6 years ago, giving him time for his meltdown, going back to school and working in the field for a couple years since then. So probably too long ago, alas :c

Yeah, there was no way in hell she was sneaking into a bar at 13, not to mention that she was still in France at the time, so it wouldn't matter.

Regardless, I will enjoy the possibility of these two meeting soon.

But in all seriousness, I have a potential, equally as grumpy/straight-faced-as-Kurogane neighbor here and possibly another French kid??? Or, well, half-French - I haven't decided what Koushuu's mother was in the AU setting just yet but I'm leaning on French, so if you ever wanted to chat somebody up in your home language, Fai.

This all sounds good though! French friends would be great and we all know how much Fai loves grumps. He's also neighbors with Heine from DOGS so he's going to be surrounded by grumpbutts. He's going to have his work cut out for him :')

I used to play him but it's been Years and I feel like he and Koushuu would be too similar. But if I'm here, someone must be out there, too.

Oh my god, that's even better tho. Koushuu is regularly called "wolf boy" by his senpai/Recolle batterymate so he's. He's got a lot of wild doggos around him. But he can poke and prod him in his tiny grump cheek, I welcome it.

I keep hoping, yeah! I've found a couple here and there but it never seems to work out, I think due to RL stuff. Maybe someday :)
