AU WORKSHOP - APRIL Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU OCCUPATION: Feel free to list if your character is a student (elementary/middle/high school/college), if they own their own business, if they freelance, if they have a stable job, etc. BLURB: Here you should write what you have for your AU; you can list your character's hobbies, who their friends and family are, if they have any particular quirks or interesting pieces of their history, if they're from a wealthy family or if they're struggling to get by, anything you feel is relevant. because baren might have a lot of the same flavor. but baren would call him out absolutely. baren's style of manipulating the world around him is through being an asshat only when he thinks it's funny but otherwise being charming to get what you want. but baren would 100% enable him.....
he thinks that honest people are asking to get taken advantage of. that includes people who are too honest with their emotions. so i guess baren is teaching repression???? it might be better in practice but that's up in the air

yeah ok they're definitely... similar, but not the same. malik is a lying little shit but sometimes uses the """"truth""" to taunt people because he wants to feel better than them. he's dumb. honestly i'm just glad that someone can call out his behavior. also like, if baren isn't offended by emotional blowouts that's Step One to helping curb all of that. LAUGHS HOLLOWLY

MOSTLY BECAUSE HE REALLY DOES THINK THAT being so prone to breaking down isn't conducive to being successful in pulling yourself to the top

this is 100% what needs to happen though. IM PUMPED DANA they have enough of a different perspective on things that i think despite their similar habits they could have some really interesting discussions (or arguments lbr)... also yes malik is a babby so that kind of undercuts any sort of serious discussion but you know.

I'M LAUGHING SO HARD 100% yes. baren has no time for babies and tantrums and has no patience for it either df;lkdf LAUGHS. but he's persistent so he also won't give up on malik unless he gets Especially Tired at least. but he's also not against pressing buttons as he needs
