Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. AU OCCUPATION: Firefighter!
BLURB:
The down and dirty of Tommy's life (that I've drawn up so far) goes something like this:
-firefighter from a family of firefighters going back God-only-knows how long
-went into the RFD practically right out of high school, no higher education to speak of
-senior man at Recolle's Tribunal Terrace fire station, not disinclined to keep climbing the ladder but also perfectly content with his current station
-captain of the RFD hockey team and part-time pee-wee hockey coach at The Stardust
-is not nearly as much of a PTSD- and survivor's guilt-ridden jerk as he is in canon! With no equivalent to 9/11 in Recollé's history (to my knowledge, after canvassing the info pages), he's got a lot less baggage on him and is overall much less abrasive.
-has blue-collar tastes and aesthetics. Most interested in stereotypical "guy" interests (sports, cars, military stuff, anything to do with tools, manual or otherwise). Not extensively read, but can surprise you if you underestimate his literacy.

LOOKING FOR: Anything and everything! Pretty much the only thing I'll say no to are romantic shipping partners (platonic shipping is a-okay!) and AU'd family members (I plan on having Tommy's wife and kids be NPCs and just...not involving them in play at all, pretty much). I'd be particularly interested in setting up mentor/mentee CR with younger characters (re: teenagers and such)! Tommy may be a jerk from time to time, but he's got street smarts, and he'd jump at the chance to pass them on.

Ah, these two could know each other in a professional capacity. I'm just really excited now because this show was great.

I'm totally down for Tommy knowing Hitori! I'll admit I'm woefully canonblind re: Ghost In The Shell, but as soon as I get mine in I'll throw him at yours, or you can throw yours at mine, whatever works! Yours is a cop, mine is a firefighter, what could go wrong am I right >:T

And yep, I plan on making Jimmy's ghost among Tommy's regains, along with a lot more stuff from canon! The potential vis-a-vis Tommy's memories as a first responder and the regain mechanic was really the deciding factor in me apping him over someone else from my list (but man I really do need an opt-out post before I app him in).

!!! I remember my parents watching this show religiously oh my gosh.

He can also have known my character in-game! This little lady here - Ainsley Menodora. He's a year older than her so they could have grown up knowing each other in school and later on in life if you're cool with the idea of them keeping in touch/being friends. She was a lot more bookish and had her head in the clouds to watch the stars but! She would have been interested in his hobbies too and read up on them so she can keep up with their conversations. (Or even just flat out ask him things.)

So sorry for the lateness, just wanted to pop in really quick to say I'm totally down for this CR! Tommy can definitely know Ainsley from school (and lbr everyone needs that one friend with a pickup truck >:T), and he'd be a nice grounded sort of person to act as a foil to her daydreamer. I'll definitely look for you once I app Tommy into the game!

i almost wonder if you'd be cool with Tommy having known May's "old man", the dude that sort of adopted her and passed on his own streetwisdom onto her before winding up in prison.

Hmmm...I think that'd probably depend on what her "old man" did. And if he were the type to wind up in prison, I get the feeling Tommy wouldn't necessarily be the type to associate with him. In canon, Tommy definitely runs with some questionable characters and does some illegal crap, but he's more straightlaced in this AU.

I'm not saying no! Buuut I am saying we're probably going to have to put some more thought into this CR. Maybe he doesn't know May's "old man", but is familiar with May herself?

Nah, Sfondi definitely had a charm to him (it was how he was such a good conman) but if Tommy was wise to him being a crook, it can take the shape of "you're gonna ruin this kid's life being such a terrible influence" kind of deal.

i mean. he kind of did. she's a smalltime hood living in a boat. not a great situation for a young adult to be in.

Tommy having passing knowledge of May through Sfondi works for me! As for CR with May herself, I think I'd rather build that up through in-game interactions, if that's cool with you. I'll be on the lookout for your posts!

Freya here's a volunteer firefighter, and she's very obviously angling for a job once she finishes her EMT-B. She tends to dance the line between bravery and recklessness a lot, but she's serious about her career path and never turns away from hard work.

Also into sports if they ever wanted to talk hockey. Which... I admittedly know nothing about myself, so I might have to handwave that a little, haha. But yes! Hello fellow firefighter!

Mark me down as hella up for this! I can definitely see Tommy mentoring someone like Freya through the job, maybe showing her the ins and out of the tricky stuff, chastising her after she takes a particularly dangerous risk, etc. And no sweat re: having to bullshit our way through hockey talk! I know there's a puck and goals and that's about it, haha. I'll definitely be on the lookout for you!
