yuuko's from a high class family in Japan and keeps in touch SO LIKE. SHE COULD BE FAMILIAR with the Kumou family... and gossip...

but they can also band together and wreck everything it's cool

the kumou family doesn't have a lot of gossip bc they keep things under wraps (and if anyone apps a kumou in the future I want them to be able to decide) but baren might've shown up in a gala picture or two if yuuko's relatives would've sent her pictures. his hair would've been much shorter like so!

but otherwise baren doesn't say anything about the family or his past so, fingerguns. yuuko would have to bring it up i'm sorry yuuko he's a dodgey little shit

but i'm here for them to wreck everything ofc

yuuko probably wouldn't care anyway... unless conspiracy shit goes down WHICH IS UNLIKELY so he just has to make sure that he never drops any hints about his high class tastes i guess

or else it's blackmail central

i think i've headcanoned that baren once convinced a bunch of drunk partygoers to duct tape someone to the ceiling at a party that yata probably rolled and he can see it and be like "fucking hell baren"

what else has he done

tried to set up a slip and slide up and down a really busy street by setting up fake police traffic cones that he stole
definitely broken into the zoo a couple times for various exotic animal shenanigans like leading an emu out into the streets at 4 am
heads up that within 24 hours of being in the game he will absolutely steal a chocobo and ride it through the city that is a Concrete Plan

we can make this happen yana i will do this thread almost immediately when baren realizes that he can contact yata through retrospec

bc baren's a cagey paranoid loser who makes it Really Hard to get his contact info but i feel like once they bond over Remembering Horses baren would probably give his number to yata (while making a Flirtatious Joke to see what color he turns)

but i also laugh bc baren probably likes yata enough and knows that yata has his back enough that he'd say in his head "yeah we're friends" but never out loud.....

which is to say that yes, yata is probably one of baren's people that he gives a shit about and would help if anything ever happened to him and generally be a little protective of

in his own bizarre way "i can fuck with yata but you can't fuck with yata unless it's Really Funny"

YATA IS JUST. A REALLY GOOD GUY WHO ASSUMES FRIENDSHIP WITH A LOT OF PEOPLE ok. he'd keep asking baren when he'll get tired of his crazy shit bc he is Concerned and thinks baren is Lost and just needs some guidance and a friend BC THAT'S WHAT HELPED HIM.

i guess the goal is to get yata to admit they're friends in-game first. ugh!!! i can't believe you got me invested in this cr before it's even begun...

i hope yata finds out that when baren isn't being Party Satan he literally goes to sleep at 9 PM and wakes up at 5 AM like a grandpa so that he can cook breakfast and prepare lunch in advance for himself and his sister. he does all the housework and is actually so responsible. I think I'm going to have him consider trying to buy a house for future investment because he's actually... super pragmatic....

baren doesn't want to be wild forever but he also is fucked up enough from a twisted upbringing to not see a problem with it when it's fun to him.... so even if yata asks he'll never get a straight answer i'm sorry

(also yeah baren doesn't flirt first most of the time but since yata's a prude he definitely will)
