Hello my dude! Dazai/"Shuji" has no idea who Steinbeck is, because like, even if Dazai had the barest idea of Steinbeck as a writer alive during the same time period, he was not relevant to Dazai over in Japan and so I doubt he'll come up in any of Dazai's memories ever. So it might be funny to have Steinbeck learn that this dude is a Dazai Osamu like that one asshole and Shuji to just repeatedly go 'haven't heard of you, stillll haven't heard of you'

Shuji's majoring in literature rn but that doesn't prevent them from having possibly some classes together? Or they could be roommates at the dorms because I personally think that would be hilarious?? Or somehow they could have bonded over having Really Incredibly Country Accents??? Like Shuji's English-speaking accent is probably Standard Recolle but his Japanese accent is basically Full Hick.

Lol yes pls bring Tatsuo food (at least when he has money and isn't living on cheap ramen). This dorkface can't cook at all.

She'd love that. SHE'S NEVER GONE TO AN ARCADE WITH A FRIEND BEFORE. She'd be happy watching people too. She's not very hard to please.

That would be perfect really. She doesn't have that much interest in army shops but it's important to her they do something he likes too!

i know we've talked a bunch more abut a bunch more details since then but still I AM GLAD TWIN!! some of this was planned but a lot of it i came up with on the spot, laughs, so i am glad it works out.

AU NAME: Atem Montgomery? Look it's a work in progress
AU AGE: 22 to 25
AU OCCUPATION: Student / Spoiled Rich Brat / Online Gamer??
BLURB:

▼ If he's a college student, he is looking to try and get into archaeology. Atem's a good student with passable grades but he's not an overachiever and tends to prefer passing under the radar.
▼ His dad owns Montgomery Suites, a rather large luxury hotel chain. As such, Atem was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and doesn't really need to be studying history. He's doing the father-deemed-necessary business focused classes also, like Law, of course, but he still keeps taking more work on that interests him. If anyone cares to notice, he has a strong interest in the history of games, actually.
▼ His dad used to live in Recolle but moved out of the country to start his business. Atem's mother is from Egypt. Since his family's Rich^(TM), he's traveled a lot! They summer vacationed in Recolle most years, but he's moved here to study since this is where his father studied, too. He's under a lot of pressure to inherit the hotel chain but isn't sold on the idea.
▼ Obviously he loves games. Board games, video games, card games - he tends towards things that require strategic thought but Atem will go for some chill platformers from time to time.
▼ If he's a college student, Atem moonlights online under Trinity, where he plays competitively. He doesn't have a huge online presence but he's got the usual suspects in terms of social media. Twitter is usually for keeping up with game devs, but he'll give it out to people if they ask after a match. As far as competitive gamer goes, he's well ranked, but a bit of an enigma because his online presence is surprisingly minimal. He'll talk to people but he blocks out his face in pictures or only takes photos of things not of himself. Instagram is attached, and he uses it for... OOTD type things. Atem still dresses like, uh. Yugi. Snapchat is close friends only and he will be cross if you give it to the paparazzi or something, though probably not enough to actually scold you? Atem.
▼ BEFORE YOU ASK ABOUT HIS HAIR he bleaches it blonde, it is naturally black and he likes to let his roots grow out a lot. HE HAS TO REGAIN THAT HAIR? I'M NOT HAVING IT ANY OTHER WAY. I'M SORRY. That said he probably looks more like Roxas than Yugi because he does the obvious circa mid-2000s hair spiking.
▼ He lives in a ritzy apartment with a "family friend" (read: butler/nanny) because if you leave Atem to his own devices for too long, he'll forget to eat or go out...in general...or wake up... His father is paying for it, and Atem doesn't actually work.
▼ So he stays up all night playing video games.
▼ And studies all day.
▼ ...He drinks a lot of energy drinks.
▼ If he's not a college student, he has a strained relationship with his father and is debating whether or not to accept the offer to build up a Montgomery Suites for Atem to run on his own.
▼ So tl;dr: Paris Hilton AU where she moonlights as a really good Widowmaker and lives a double life as an online gamer

LOOKING FOR:

▼ Friends, of course! If you'd like to have known Atem from a summer he vacationed in town, that's doable. He's a friendly enough guy, if kind of awkward. He takes a little nudging with friendship because he can lose track of time. On the other hand, college buddies are great; some ideas I have are that Atem's the Designated Driver friend. He doesn't drink but he goes with his friends when they do to make sure they get home safe. He speaks a few languages thanks to traveling a bunch, so if your character wants someone they can chat to in their first language or practice with, Atem could help. He speaks English, Arabic, French, Spanish, uhh. Maybe some Chinese and/or Japanese? He lived in the dorms for a short period until he moved out to the apartment he shares with a butler or nanny, so ex-roomies is up for grabs, maybe? Shoot something at me and I'll make it work.
▼ Online pals that he eventually can meet offline or people who know his ~secret identity. Atem keeps his online persona and real life completely separate. I'd prefer to keep those things separate for as long as possible in game, or kept on the dl. Since he's in Recolle for the Family Business, he wants to keep his hobbies separate and not let his family know too much about his interests. Atem's pretty eclectic in things he might read or keep up with, but he's also a surprisingly friendly person despite his bizarre appearance, so if your character would have interacted with him once, he might have remembered him!
▼ Liiiitle but of a subset of online pals but I think it'd be fun to have an online gamer crew so if you'd want to be on a like... in game equivalent of an Overwatch team with Atem hey. Talk to me.
▼ For the adults: Teachers, obviously, but I'd love to have people who might know Atem from weird and awkward social interactions from him venturing outside. He's not like, purposely weird, but he tends to very obviously not be fully awake when he's shopping. Maybe he accidentally stole your basket at Freshens one late night and now you keep tabs on the guy because he needs several adults, all the time? Maybe he wandered into a game shop and you grabbed the last copy of Call of Duty: MAN WAR GUN WAR or something and now you see him around and the running joke is you keep grabbing the same copy of games. Lay it on me.
▼ People who might have had similar life styles! Atem's basically Paris Hilton. He's been in magazines, spotted with celebrities, has a few friends who are actors or musicians or whatever. People who might want in on that, lmk!

AU NAME: Alison...idk if I should put her last name here because it’s a tiny spoiler! But I have one for her.
AU AGE: 20-22ish.
AU OCCUPATION: Going to school for environmentalist studies or! Robotics...i can’t figure it out yet, wants to get a doctorate, probably also wants to work in the national park service or smth...but she’s a wanderer at heart and is (very) bright but hasn’t settled down yet. As for an actual job-job...I like the idea of her tinkering with machines, lol. Maybe she can work at someone’s auto shop. Barring that, does volunteer park work, primarily summer camp stuff.
BLURB: In canon, Aloy is from a post-post apocalyptic world, largely overtaken by nature, where machines are the apex predators and humans live on in primitive tribes. She was an outcast at birth, raised by a fellow outcast and surrogate father/father figure, Rost. She comes to discover that her actual lineage is a lot more complex and meaningful than she first believed, and is granted the title of Seeker by her tribe, thus allowing her to go out into the world and discover all of its secrets! And kill a lot of machines in super cool ways.

Although Aloy is from a pretty under-advanced society, she’s a fast learner, pragmatic, driven and brave. Also, for someone who was raised largely on the outskirts of her society, she’s surprisingly well-adjusted and thoughtful, thanks to Rost. An AU Aloy would first and foremost be socialized a bit more! So while she’s still blunt and to the point, she’s a little less “cut to the chase” than she is in canon, more easygoing, and some of her wanderlust is tempered by the practicality of a modern day world. She’s not especially extroverted, but has had a circle of friends throughout her life (some have rotated out and some haven’t) and is less isolated than she was in canon. Her intelligence and ingenuity I would like to gear toward a drive to making a positive change in the world, thus leading her to the field she’s studying. Aloy in canon has to grow into this role, but Alison will have been nurtured in an environment that would drive her to want to do it on her own. Part of this is because she has heard stories about her mother since she was a kid (who passed away shortly after her birth) and is inspired to emulate her. I’m not going to go too heavy on detail here because I’m trying not to spoil everything lmao. Her dad is actually not her birth father, he’s a family friend who adopted her at her mother’s death. Or at least that’s the story I’m going with. She was raised in Recolle but went away to school in Colorado Springs. Since she’s gone away to college, they communicate mostly via phone calls (he’s old fashioned and snail mails her sometimes too.) He’s currently having a long trip with a group of buddies across the U.S. (They’re visiting national parks), and Alison has transferred to a school in Recolle to continue her studies. Also she got a hookup on a job, idk.

She’s really athletic (was in archery class in high school and hikes now.) Worked at a ranch for a spell in her senior year. Probably was kind of a smart ass all through high school, also was a bit more rebellious in general. She can and has hotwired a car (it was her dad’s car, she got in a lot of trouble.)

LOOKING FOR: - BUDS...people she used to know and new people!
Fellow science...nerds. Esp. people who don’t look like nerds but are huge nerds.
People who want to idk crossfit with her (jk she doesn’t crossfit). UH BASICALLY other outdoorsy types, etc.
Following canon, an awkward crush she can shoot down in a good-natured sort of way.
I’m really flying by the seat of my pants so I have no set in stone ideas, just hmu.

Yo, that's cool with me! She'd definitely have been encouraging to him and probably tried to keep contact afterward--maybe high school would be best, since they'd only be two grade levels apart? In a place that'd be better suited to it, so they could know each other longer. Whatever you're down for!

jake is one of rosalind's students!! he's the kind to hang around and participate a lot because he enjoys the subject and class so much. so he'd probably love talking to kurama about the subject but also just. in general? he's a very friendly kid and he's not put off by people who might be aloof. he'd probably invite him to hang out with him sometimes too.

also he'd think the otherkin thing is cool. he's a furry at heart. he understands you kurama. he wants to be a blue space alien himself.

i need to say this is so perfect for ludger. i love ludger, a great loser. jake isn't into parkour personally YET but in canon he's pretty good with it so i imagine seeing ludger doing it might trigger his memories of it and they could bond over being ridiculously flashy??

he's also a university student. so there's that! and he'd volunteer to try dishes ludger makes because. he's a student and he loves food.

i am totally happy to offer jake as an ex if you go with the older option?? jake is the kind of person who falls in love with the idea of love and falls hard and fast before, uh, usually pretty quickly falling back out when the person doesn't meet his ideal but he's kind of a pushover in a lot of ways and would write off a lot of her, uh, behaviour. so it'd be hilarious to me.

jake loves astronomy!! he's definitely taken the class or currently taken it. he's a very friendly, outgoing student who loves to participate and go above and beyond so i think he'd stand out a little. and he's traveled all over so he'd be happy to trade stories or just hear about places (while totally going "omg did you see the news about that new star?" etc)

I have no clue how they would meet but holy crap GIMME.
