Actually that's a very good question but I assume it's for mod convenience and keeping game growth from being completely explosive.

plus I suppose I could wait for more of the translation effort to come along who am I kidding

THAT SAID, I have no solid ideas for how these two could meet and interact since Yang doesn't go out much except for shows even though I expect she'll be visiting the university here and there to hang out with her sister. so she's known around the dorms despite not actually going there lmao

that and Yang seems to just find short people who are older than her to mock and/or bond with. it seems to be a Theme in this AU so far

I'd say that's a theme with canon except Weiss and Ruby are both younger than her.

It's entirely possible they'll run into each other by coincidence and if they get to talking about motorcycles, you're going to have to forgive her for having a memory about freaking out over an awesome motorcycle while Yang is relating her trauma.
