ngl I was struggling too... it's kind of hard to recreate the shitfest that is their backstory in a realistic setting. if only we had a kazuma to bridge the gap AM I RIGHT. I agree though that it would change their dynamic a lot if he weren't as scummy as possible in her eyes so

Let's see!! I imagine some kind of death would be necessary to cement Bisha's grudge (correct me if I'm wrong)... so I was thinking that perhaps this person X was an ex-con trying to change their ways and getting Bisha's help to turn over a new leaf? OR they could've been playing a double game and trying to get in Bisha's good favor for some ulterior motive...

Either way, maybe this person was pressured into doing something serious (assault, drugs, etc.) for financial reasons/blackmail/family threat. Yato happens upon this person in the middle of their shady business, they attack him, he kills in self defense?

If we want to wink at canon and make it a "this was actually saving Bisha" thing, the ex-con could've been told to knock Bisha off by an old gang? And Yato could've stumbled upon the ex-con while he was waiting for Bishamon to come along... And then Bishamon stumbles upon them while Yato is killing this guy off...

Is any of that plausible... I'm super open to altering/scrapping it haha

that sounds so good ahh... i'm only hesitant to have this end in a death though, if only because wouldn't that put yato in a very precarious place with the law...? if he has constant misdemeanors that might actually land him in jil even if it was self-defense?! (how does the justice system work here idek)

i like the idea of bisha trying to help rehabilitate an ex-con, especially given her terrible bleeding heart. maybe she was intending for them to be an informant at first but then got attached (as she does) and let her feelings cloud her judgment so instead she kept pushing for them to just get out of that life altogether, which probsbly only complicated fhings.

i think it would work best if the guy DID genuinely want to change at first, but maybe due to circumstances would up taking it back and got caught up in old habits again. which could somehow lead to them being blackmailed into having to off her, and for some reason or other yato could have recognized this? and tried to put a stop to it? (perhaps by then yato and bisha knew enough of each other — yato a petty criminal at the time and bisha as just an officer in the field still)

during the ensuing kerfuffle maybe the Bad People involved with the ex-con decide to off the guy themselves so they wouldn't be too terribly implicated in a bigger crime (idk idk) and bisha, refusing to believe the ex-con would have double-crossed her, could think it was then all yato's fault for getting involved??

HOW DOES THAT SOUND.....

I was waffling on the death thing too since YEAH his life would get a lot harder. I thought that maybe he could've been arrested and released on insufficient evidence/some technicality but sidestepping that altogether might work out better! (because what is the law)

Oh Bisha... too pure for this criminal world. I like what you have down though, let's go with it!! Maybe Yato could've been hired by a friend/loved one of the ex-con to try and find out what was going down because they didn't want to get the police involved and the ex-con arrested again. :|a

I'm also down with them already knowing each other because of Yato's petty misdemeanors... Might be getting ahead of myself but I thought that maybe he could've started out calling her dumb basic names like Idiot, Bimbo, etc. and then let it evolve over time until one day he'll be back to calling her Skank/Psycho Bitch AND THEN MAYBE IT'LL JAR A MEMORY idk idk

yes that's perfect, re: a friend of ex-con hiring yato!! that blends ou and au really neatly i think. :)

AND YES I APPROVE HEARTILY OF DUMB NICKNAMES... the day he calls her a nympho is the day they're both like "—wait"
