Thoughts on Yuuki so far?

Rean likes Yuuki a lot! She's cute, fun, easy to talk to, and in general he doesn't feel like he has to rein in parts of himself he'd usually be a little embarrassed to talk about because fellow nerd friend!!

At the same time, though, he has the same problem with Yuuki as he does a lot of his slightly more distant CR: he feels obligated to be the composed "leader" type, which means he's absolutely unwilling to show any real weakness around her ever because he's convinced doing so will mean people will think less of him.

So, basically: happy funtime friend! But also, intentionally keeping her at arm's length because Rean's a problem child.

There's not much to go off of I know but thoughts on Crow and Rean anyway?

BUT OK SERIOUSLY just. drags hands down face. Rean has a lot of feelings about Crow and the amount of them that conflict is becoming pretty uncomfortable for him.

Crow's the best friend Rean's ever had that wasn't... y'know... his own sister. Hell, in some ways he breathes easier around Crow than he ever could around Raina, because Crow's a little (okay, a lot) less high-strung. He started off so on edge around senpai, but these days it's pretty easy for him to just open up and be himself, for everything that entails. Which is wonderful, but also kind of terrifying, because Rean's not really used to opening himself up to other people. Being around Crow makes him genuinely happy, though, so he's more than willing to take the risks that come alongside this whole opening up thing.

Rean trusts Crow with his life, and he looks up to him immensely. Rean really doesn't see the "mess" that Crow sees. Sure, Crow's a gambler and a flirt and prone to flights of fancy, which Rean's more than happy to call him out for. But as far as Rean's concerned, more than any of that, Crow's a strong, dependable person who has his life together and everything figured out. He knows damn well he has Crow on more than a bit of a pedestal, though. He has a feeling there's a lot more to Crow than Crow's let him see, and he's always interested to look in whenever Crow does let that mask drop, but so far there hasn't been much to shake his admiration.

...of course. There are all those pesky past life memories to worry about. And OH BOY, ARE THEY CAUSING HIM SOME TROUBLE RIGHT NOW.

Rean doesn't have all the pieces of this puzzle. He doesn't even have half the pieces. But what he does have tells him that 1. Past!Crow betrayed his trust, 2. Past!Crow hurt him terribly enough to make him genuinely angry, which doesn't happen often, and 3. Neither of those pieces match up with the Crow he knows in this life and all the memories he has that do match up perfectly. Combining with that feeling that there's a lot more to Crow, Rean can't help but wonder what all there is that he doesn't know. Should he trust Crow as deeply as he does? He wants to, to the point where he's lied to himself and made excuses for his memories for months because he didn't want to believe Crow would hurt him. And yet, here he is, where it's not really possible to keep that up and he doesn't know what to think.

And to top all of this off... yeah, Rean has a massive crush. If just opening up on a friend level was kind of terrifying, for this weeb who's really just figuring out this whole genuine friendship thing, romance is absolutely the scariest thing imaginable. Especially when he's already unsure about how his memories and this life align. ESPECIALLY when he's already struggling with his own unhealthy tendencies to cling, his inability to handle the people he loves getting hurt, and... oh, yeah, the fact that he's pretty sure past!Crow died.

He's riding the struggle bus pretty hard right now. He's scared of anything happening to this Crow, because he's afraid he'll lose control of himself way worse than he already has if anything does. He wants to pull away to make sure he can't be the one that hurts Crow, but at the same time, he wants to cling and be the one to protect him from anything that could hurt him. He looks up to and trusts Crow, but also worries that he doesn't really know Crow at all.

tl;dr THEIR ENTIRE RELATIONSHP IS "WILL THEY OR WON'T THEY" ON LIKE EVERY LEVEL. I'm going to die in this hell, and I'm okay with that.

GIMME SIBLING TALK

Oh lordy where do I even begin.

First and most importantly is that Rean really does love his little sister! He was so confused when Al's immediate response to figuring out they were related was "I'm sorry." It's more like he should be sorry everyone else doesn't have the best sister ever???

Rean does genuinely enjoy talking with Raina, and it's pretty clear to me where they honed their snark, haha. He thinks she's clever and funny and doesn't understand why she thinks she has a "bad personality."

SPEAKING OF THINGS HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND, her inability to trust people... like, he is trying so hard to be as understanding as he can, but at the end of the day he can't deny that it hurts a bit to know Raina doesn't even trust him, because, well... he trusts HER! A lot! Enough that he's willing to talk with her about things he's too afraid to even talk to his past-life friends about.

And right now especially, even though they've made up, he's still more than a little on edge about the whole friends thing, especially because one of those friendships involves Feelings, and he's kind of wondering if it's even okay for him to consider something like that or if it'll just make Raina hate him.

But, to be fair, if she does it's his own fault. Raina's going to die single, and it will be because Rean is the world's most stupidly overprotective brother.

HAHA.... She's sorry that she's like this, Rean, but in the novels own words, she doesn't want to distrust people but she just does and there's no explanation for it at all, she's just [constant anxiety] all the time and she even thinks that she's suffering because she wants??? To trust people, and especially her brother because she cares about him so much but she is just Incapable and winds up suffering since she's caught in between.

She doesn't hate him though, and honestly it's going to take a lot for her to hate him, really? Even what happened in February didn't get her to dislike him but largely because she blames herself for that situation as a whole, really :/

And she will tell him that it's okay for him to have friends! Or things further than friends! Live your best life, big brother, she'll watch from the sidelines...

Elliot and Rean?

Oh, Elliot. Sweet, perfect, pure Elliot who has never done a thing wrong in his life (Rean will hear no counterarguments).

He respects Elliot deeply – he genuinely thinks Elliot's a musical genius, he's awed by Elliot's magical talents, and after the whole fire ordeal he's also pretty convinced that Elliot's a stronger person than he is for shouldering all that.

So, really, Rean would say he doesn't understand why Elliot has self-esteem issues, except... well, he can totally relate, so yeah, he understands perfectly.

He also thinks Elliot's a sweet, fun person to talk to, and he's really glad to be able to call Elliot a friend! All of his memories of Elliot are fond ones, too, so in general Rean just has a lot of Nice Squishy Feelings about this Nice Squishy Mage

That said, BECAUSE Elliot is a Nice Squishy Mage, Rean kind of feels like he needs to hold a lot of things back around Elliot. He's not even sure why? Like, he knows Elliot's an adult and he's been handling a pretty harsh reality for a pretty long time, but he still just wants to protect the soft boy. He's not angry at Elliot for not telling him things, he's just... ashamed that Elliot had to see him in such an awful light, and afraid of doing anything that might make it worse (or, God forbid, hurt Elliot).

tl;dr Rean is the #2 Elliot stan, only because Eren is very loudly #1 and he's not stupid enough to fight him for that place.

I CAN'T REALLY WRITE A WHOLE ESSAY HERE like I have for some others but.

His feelings on Al can be boiled down to just. A sympathetic sidelong glance and "he... he tries."

He can tell Al's working through a lot of Issues, and it makes him really hesitant to judge Al too harshly as a result. Rean is basically a therapy dog given human form and also anxiety, so naturally, he just wants to help out! And when Al's more stable, he's a nice enough guy!

But there's no doubt he's pretty worried, too. Like... how do you not be. The kid wants a cookie for not murdering people. Like, yes, okay, he'll give you a cookie because that's a small ask, but also NO? MURDER IS BAD? HE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SPELL THIS OUT FOR YOU FRIEND.

Al... tries. And Rean knows this, and he loves him. But he might also love him while backing away slowly.

Rean and Derek?

too long, read anyway: He's. Really not sure how to feel? Because on one hand, he's had a lot of positive interactions with Derek! They've had some interesting conversations, Derek invited him out to have a good time (granted he invited everyone, loudly and repeatedly, but still), he was grateful with the whole slug incident.

On the other hand, the being a dick in the cafe thing, even now that the moody traits are gone, was kind of. Hmmm. You do know bullying people isn't fun, right? Please tell him you know and understand this. He WANTS to respect you, dude. :
